Lunch Omakase at its best!
We had the restaurant (seats only 8 maximum) to ourselves for the first half hour. I could watch sushi chefโs dance with his knives and ingredients for hours and not feel bored. They started us with an amuse bouche of many little items. Already, these were amazing! Chef grated our wasabi fresh while we sampled them. The next two hours proved to be one of revelation and awe. The fish and other seafood were fresh and the flavors were very balanced. The sashimi were these diagonal cut pieces of fish that almost crunched on impact with the teeth. The sushi were seasoned and could easily be picked up by the thumb and forefingers. Some had the slightest hint of citrus rind, while another had a soy-seasoned rice. Yet another had a whisper of smoke. Our dessert was a plate of many things green - a matcha layer cake. Ice cream in a box shaped like. There were freshe fruits. There were flowers arranged with flowers. We were told the sparkly leaves were edible. They tasted like sweet grass.

Was having the best experience with Yuki-San and his amazing culinary skills. We were joking and having fun with him and his personality occasionally joking with us through the lunch. He even introduced us to his sous chef who was cooking the cooked food in the background and was exclaiming how he was one of the best chefs around. Until 80% through the lunch course, the manager Yin, was not happy with the antics of the head chef, Yuki-San and brought him behind to have a word. There were 6 of us dining and we could hear him shouting at them for being over friendly with their customers. 5 minutes later, our group confronted Yin as to the reason for shouting at their chefs even though we were having a good time eating. To which, Yin had no response and gave us a stern looking for even asking. At that point, we told them that we were appalled that in this day and age in 2022, the management still treats their chefs and staff this way though they were providing such excellent service. When we received no explanation, we simply remarked that sushi ichi would not be the restaurant it is today without their head chef, to which Yin blatantly told us it was none of our business. Having not had the remaining of our course, we paid the bill and left, disgruntled at the treatment by the management of their own head chef and staff. To receive 1 Michelin star for their food is justified, but how they treat their head chef who is the heart and soul of all their food is simply appalling.
Be the first to ReplyGreat value for tempura omakase
It is a very small but cozy set up,
The skill of the tempura is very good
And the service is very good and patient,
Explain of the dipping is very clear.
I enjoyed the lunch omakase very well
Good food but terrible service
Have been going there for years as i have always found the sushi to be great. However, recently had such a bad experience with the service that i will never go back again: I made a reservation for a good friend's birthday celebration, and was running late, however i called up at the time of the reservation to explain that i would be 5 mins late, but was RUDELY told that my seat had been given up to a walk -in, as i did not turn up on time. There was not even a word of apology, and the service staff went on to argue with me that it was my fault as i had not turned up on time. This type of service is way below that expected of a michelin starred restaurant. I think it would have been polite and common courtesy for the restaurant to have called me up before giving my seat up. Even with good food, i do not think this type of service deserves anyone's patronage. The management should really look into training your staff to manage the restaurant and reservations better, or even consider replacing them as they are rude and fall way below the standard for customer service.

Went there for a celebration. Serves mainly sushi and sashimi which was SUPER FRESH. I think apart from the direct import from Japan, its the way they store their fish, in a special container chilled by ice, not electricity, probably keeping it at an optimum temperature. Small place, super service. But not cheap. But I would say better quality than some of the other top names. Worth trying.
Be the first to ReplyIt is a sushi experience of the highest order: interaction between taste and vision
I was there for a relatively quick early dinner (6PM), reservation is needed but there was no problem with it, they have found a space during the same day.
It was all amazing! Excellent quality fish, three chefs preparing amazing sushi and sashimi, quiet guests watching from the sushi bar. The chefs are personable and serve customers directly from their stations behind the bar, while servers make sure your sake glass is full.
The restaurant is small and unassuming, with the focus on the artistry of the chefs. I am a big sushi fan and foodie but not an expert, but I can easily say that all of the fish was of the highest quality, tuna was mouth melting and sea urchin with caviar were I think my favorite. It is a great experience one can only have in Singapore, so make sure you go there.
Thank you for this great personal experience!
One of the best sushi bars in the world
One of the best sushi bars in the world. Chef Katori san is as precise as can be, fresh materials are flown daily from Japan, and the quality is such that you wonder if you ever had sushi before. It is a small and intimate place, and the ambiance is excellent.

We had the $430 Omakase set and was very fortunate to be seated in front of Head Chef Yukinori san. While he may have a youthful look, his talent is unmistakeable. He is very humorous and it was a pleasure to be served by him.

I had lunch with my friend couple of days ago.
My only complain was I couldn't finish my course because I was too full!
I will drink less beer next time hahaha!
Very special thanks to Head Chef Mr. Yukinori Kawakami!
Just normal
I think itโs normal feeling and look forward to coming back again in the future.
I wish itโs getting better and better.
Perfect Omakase fix
We have been to the same restaurant in Tokyo and Bangkok, but the experience in this particular Ginza Sushiichi was definitely the best. Whether it's the freshness of the seafood or the overall experience, it was absolutely memorable! We were lucky to have the Head Chef prepare our dinner for us, and boy, was it a happy experience. The fish, abalone and uni was just perfection, and the Head Chef was so happy and entertaining, it was a dinner that we will not forget. I'm already missing it !!
