Thought provoking
Have been to Giardino and before that il Giardino. Lovely meal, great service but I was disturbed to see Men’s only washrooms but no Women’s only washrooms. On the night I was there, more than 50% were women. Should there not be clear representation of every gender representation. As a paying customer, and a woman, I would like a Women designated washroom. When I inquired with our server, the response was that no one in eight years had ever asked that question. Interesting. Can I be the only women thinking this?

As visitors to Vancouver, this was our first visit. Atmosphere was polished, with a stuffy vibe. Service was well below what we would expect at $150avg per person at our table. Waitress seemed impatient and annoyed at my allergy concern. Also, she forgot a couple of things we ordered. I read some reviews about the service, but dismissed it as someone always complains, but I can now see why they said what they said. The food was good but not great for sure. And for the price, I would dare say subpar. My chicken tortelini was flat and lacking excitement. I hate to leave bad reviews, but we have had much better food and service at plsces less than half the price.
Be the first to ReplySimply unmissable…a superb dining experience
We enjoyed a superlative, relaxing and fun dining experience at this restaurant. If this is the only restaurant you have time to visit if passing through Vancouver, pre-book...as it really is unmissable. From the warm welcome on arrival by the two lady receptionists, to the atmosphere, menu and cuisine, this was an exceptional evening. In fact, it was our most enjoyable dinner since departing from the UK two weeks ago. We were offered a choice of tables both in the garden or inside the main restaurant. Once we had experienced the atmosphere in the garden, we stayed there. It is a beautiful setting with plenty of heaters for outdoor dining, all the guests were smiling, staff were extremely professional and the flatbreads and other bread served first was so delicious, we had a second helping. We have read the recent superlative TripAdvisor reviews as well as a very odd one-star review about somebody vaping outside (which did not put us off in the slightest). We have no hesitation in adding our five-star review. The menu was terrific, we were spoilt for choice and Françoise, our main waiter, provided much needed assistance. We struck lucky with Françoise as he has a wonderful personality, is very amusing and he has also visited more countries then my wife and I. We are approaching 100 countries while Françoise only has four more to go and he will have been to every single one in the world. He has some great stories, he should write a book. Everything about this restaurant was enjoyable. Congratulations to the kitchen and to owner Marian Menghi. If we lived in Vancouver, we would visit this restaurant, probably once every week and opt for a garden table weather permitting. We absolutely loved it. I often head for Michelin restaurants, and there are eight of them in Vancouver but none of them can possibly be as enjoyable as this. It was almost like visiting one of the ultra popular restaurants in a top London private club ( Annabels...Morton's...) where the clientele gel rather well in a familiar but exceptionally hard to achieve, dining experience. With thanks to David, the superb concierge at the Loden hotel for the recommendation... and for driving us in the Loden's iconic London traditional black cab.

High end restaurant with high end food and service. Great place for major celebration. We had family from both coasts.

Recent visit to Vancouver saw us celebrating our anniversary. So glad we chose this gem. Trisha ushered us through the beautiful restaurant and lead us to an outdoor court at the back. Our server Yanos, was wonderful and he delivered our amazing meals of fish and cannelloni. Amazing nite
Be the first to ReplyLovely Italian restaurant
High quality restaurant which I would not hesitate to recommend. Shahin our server was friendly and very helpful and made some excellent suggestions. We started with cocktails which we asked to be slightly tweaked and this was done gladly and without hesitation. The food and drink exceeded expectations. Ambiance was buzzing without being obtrusive. Beautiful room. Our only disappointment was leaving our reservation too late to get a patio table, which looked lovely.
Be the first to ReplyTable beside us vaped the entire night
We dined a few weeks ago for a special Anniversary dinner and was seated by a large table. The head of that table vaped a sickenly sweet flavour and we were overwhelmed by the smell. We asked the waiter to please do something about it. He came back a few minutes later (he never went to table in question) and said there was nothing he could do, they were a regular table and dined there often. Our meal was ruined as he vaped constantly throughout the time we were there. We felt slighted that not only was the restaurant breaking smoking laws, but Giardino valued them more than our comfort and dining experience. There were 10 at that table but we've told a lot more than 10, so who really won in the end.

Remember dining at the Giardinos many years before. They were down the block then. The whole area is changed and is not recognizable. But our caby have no problem finding it. So this is a new location and a new built facility. Welcoming place. Little cluttered but nice ambience. But the food and service was below expectations. Neither my pasta nor my Osso bucco was impressive and the service was poor. Selection of wines were good.
Be the first to ReplyA Solid Italian Restaurant
Many locals and visitors claim this is the best Italian restaurant in Vancouver but I have to say I can't agree. The burrata was not as fresh as I have had at other places. It did not melt in your mouth and the tomatoes lacked flavor. The linguine vongole was nothing special. The clams were so tiny and lacked seasoning. The beef carpaccio was very good. The crakers they serve are too salty. All in all I love the bar service it was top notch but the food was so hyped up it was not what I expected and maybe it was just that night. The wine recommeded was wonderful as I usually order a bottle and then share the decanted wine with the staff.

The food and the atmosphere were excellent. The staff was great as well. We ate here with friends, but it would also make an excellent choice for couples wanting a nice romantic evening.

Fine Italian dining at its best. We enjoyed the carpaccio of beef tenderloin and diced pacific ahi tuna to start. Seafood pasta and gnocchi next and finally dessert which I sadly forgot what it was. It was all delicious and fantastic service as always.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Experience
We have dined at Giardino many times, our last experience was exceptional. The food was expertly prepared and presented, full of flavor and thoroughly enjoyed. Service was attentive, without being too over bearing. It is always a treat to be in such a warm, beautiful and inviting room with such welcoming staff.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Italian in Vancouver
After exploring a lot of Vancouver foods, Giardino has made it to our top 5's! For Italian food which we love, this is definitely our favourite spot. The atmosphere in this restaurant is amazing. It's warm, it's cozy and beautiful. The service was impeccable. Our server Vanessa was amazing and she was so helpful. The menu is overwhelming, we wanted to try everything! We tried eating as much as we could and we loved every single dish. We had a romanian heart wedge salad which was great. The feature pasta was a spaghettini with veal meatballs and it was divine. My wife had the chicken tortellini and I had the oven baked sablefish which was so good. Their wine list is extensive and Vanessa recommended a very delicious chablis to go with our dinner. We ended with a very delicious cheesecake for dessert. We were thoroughly impressed by Giardino's and will be returning again soon.

We love Giardino…Everything is superb from the first Greeting to the last Desert.I especially want to mention Trish.
Trish is a Gem. She is warm, welcoming, and efficient.
She has the gift of nuanced savour faire.
I am always impressed and grateful ,as, these first few minutes of “greeting” are a significant start to the rest of our evening
Extraordinary food and service
Fabulous Italian cuisine. The owner was walking the floor, introducing himself and welcoming patrons. A friend booked our group, as we learned that one must reserve a table as much as 2 months in advance.
Be the first to ReplyAs Usual, It Doesn't Disappoint
I love this place although it is expensive and I can only justify for a celebration. It was our birthday (my husband and me both) so we figured we deserved it. Had a fabulous meal outside on their lovely very Italian feeling patio. Shared a caprese salad and a pasta dish which they cheerfully plated on two separate plates. I then had the venison and my husband had the veal parmigiana. Both were perfectly cooked. Too full for dessert although the list looked very appealing.
Be the first to ReplyPlease tell me Vancouver has better
Reviews are accurate. Service is really bad here and by that I mean very little answers in the way of simple questions which to me is basic. “What’s good here?” shouldn’t be met with “all of it” and nothing else on a menu of 30+ items. Skip the place unless you want to spend a lot of $ on average food and really bad service. Hard pass and find an Olive Garden or something, at least they’re pleasant.
Be the first to ReplyFine dining with a side of rudeness and disrespect
This is probably the worst experience that we've had dining out...
Started at the hostess, we came in to join our friends - the blonde middle aged hostess was incredibly cold for no apparent reason. We get it that people have off days but most other Google reviews have also advised that staff here can be cold and rude. There was no hi, how are you? Just a "do you have a reservation". We told her that we already see our friends but yet she continued to ask what's the name that the reservation under and wouldn't let us just walk over to the table.
One of our friends had asked our server if it would be possible to accommodate an additional guest (basically a yes or no question). Our waiter advised that we had to talk to this same hostess about this additional guest question. Instead of just saying no to our friend, she went off on a tangent noting that the initial guests were late (sorry parking in Yaletown/waiting for valet takes time). She then claimed that management is upset with us and doesn't want us there (that's a VERY BOLD statement to say to a paying customer). When another friend went to use their washroom, this same hostess was making inappropriate statements about the appearance of our party which is completely and utterly unprofessional. It's 2021, people have tattoos...
For a high end restaurant, our waiter was not on the ball at all, desserts were missed and he kept on offering wine to a friend that told him 3X already that she doesn't drink any wine.
Our bill was $1200, just to be treated with complete disrespect. There's better options in this city such as Savio Volpe, Nook and Autostrada osteria...
Giardino Lost his superb......
We went as we just moved next door to them and we wanted to support local business and we loved the place before !
BUT all I can say is that I end up disappointed ……
1 - The hostess addressed us with a cold and non welcome “ do you have a reservation?”
Looking at us like we do not belong here … and we dressed up for the occasions !
No sorry … “ In my mind I thought it was after COVID and we are just trying to help here …….”
Then she offered the patio that was empty by the way …….
2- The waiter Made a bit too my fun of my French accent…
I do not mind but at some point it is good to just stop dear …….
3- The food … was reheated even from lunch or from the previous day …. I have a sense of taste and I know when it is not Fresh Food …
So Sorry Giardino you won't see us again and we won't recommend you anymore…...
The hostess has an attitude
The waiter / foods was all great but the hostess has an attitude. I am not sure if anyone wants to get bad service when we pay big money. I would not recommend to go there for special occasions because she ruined our dinner and did not want to apologize at all. When we left she didn’t say sorry ,not even thank you.
Be the first to ReplyThis is one of the top Italian
This is one of the top Italian restaurants in Vancouver. The pastas are fresh and tasty, and the service and atmosphere are exceptional. The decor reminds me of my last trip to Italy. I highly recommend the tirimisu for dessert.
