The location was so amazing! I actually booked my reservation on open table and when I got there they told me they did not have my reservation, I looked up my email and it showed me that They cancelled my reservation a few hours before we got there. They said the one online books for a same restaurant in Singapore.... But on open table it shows La Jolla- so that was very frustrating.... They ended up seating us upstairs on the terrace in a lovely corner. Perfect view.Starting with the appetizersWe ordered the mussels which literally melted in your mouth. The crab tostadaThe Parmesan friesThe focaccia breadAll were so unique and delicious. The main courses came in allot weaker then the appetizers did The swordfish was dry But the endive was delicious The steak was good and the sides that with it were good, nothing to write home about but a solid option if you're wanting a slab of steak - while most options were fish options The Chicken was very good, the polenta that came with it was a little watery The special halibut was good and light We also tried the soup and it tasted Smokey bbq - a little odd as it did not jive with all the other flavors at the tableWhen we received the check we noticed a 5% surcharge for increased labor and operating costsI thought that was sneaky instead of just charging more for food So our bill for 6 people was pretty high, and it was freezing cold by the time the sun went down,

This is my Second time here in GEORGE'S AT THE COVE in LA JOLLA , 'coz yesterday we had a reservation, but it rained on us ;) so we decided to just cancel our dinner. Today we tried again and the weather was just perfect ! We got seated with the view of the La jolla Cove and my son really Loves it. The weather was so Lovely and the Sky was beautiful, the view was Excellent. We ordered the following foods: *PRIME FLAT IRON - Steak , Fingerling Potatoes , charred broccoli, Spanish Aioli , * RIGATONI - Pork and Clam bolognese, spicy bread crumbs *MUSSELS -Hominy , Cilantro , Lime , Ancho Chili , grilled bread *SPICY PINA MARGARITA -Pineapple - Jalapeno infused blanco tequila , Lime , agave , tajin Rim * GUAVA TRES LECHES- vanilla bean sponge , white chocolate guava cremeux, anglaiseI wasn't hungry yet that much 'coz I had a big meal at Lunch with my Friends, so I just wanted a Drink and an Appetizer to go with it. My SPICY PINA MARGARITA was so refreshing and good! And when my Mussels came, I was surprised to see how Big the Portion of my Mussels were. I tasted it and it was so good, just the right amount of Salt. But I'm really Happy about the Generosity of the portion that my Mussels came with. And on my son's FLAT IRON STEAK, the steak was well seasoned, the potatoes and broccoli that comes with the Steak was just plain. My Husband's RIGATONI was good, it was very Tasty and had a lot of Clam pieces. And our dessert, the GUAVA TRES LECHES, was really good, it was not too Sweet, and I could really can taste the guava and there was a crunch with every bite from the crunchy pearls. Our Server, Lindsay C . was really Nice. We enjoyed our Dinner with A Beautiful View here, so we are Definitely going back again here 100%. !!!

I visited George's today as a tourist and I had an awesome experience! Their tuna melt was absolutely perfect and I loved the buttery toasted bread. My favorite part of the meal was the Kampachi sushi appetizer, it was so fresh and the flavor was unreal. It was totally unique and one of the tastiest things I've ever had. The views here are awesome and it's in a perfect location. Highly recommend to anyone in the area!

This is a very nice restaurant that has been open for many years. It is situated on a cliff with spectacular views of La Jolla cove and the ocean. The restaurant has two levels and the service is friendly and welcoming. The food is consistent and very good quality. They have a nice selection of seafood, steaks and other options. They also have a popular bar that offers great views of the coast.I would highly recommend this place.

The terrace view is amazing, but the food is mediocre to bad. Highly recommend focusing on drinks only. If you want food, head next door to Duke's for a similar view and delicious food.

Booked a reservation about 5 days in advance for This restaurant as I had read they were needed. We were in La Jolla on a rainy weekend, so I'm assuming it was less busy than usual. But we lucked out with a table right at the window, nearest the ocean; beautiful views as the rain had just cleared. Arrived at our reservation time which was 4pm, they just start serving the dinner menu at 4. I had planned on having the famed fish tacos, however that's only available on their lunch menu which ends at 2;30pm. I was bummed.Instead we had Ultimate margaritas , salmon tartare starter and Flat Iron steaks. Amazing!!! The Salmon tartare was perfectly flavored and had a great consistency. The flat iron steak and potatoes were perfectly prepared and delicious in flavor, Highly recommend all of the above.

Delightful mid-week business dinner with a colleague at the Ocean Cove. Food and service was strong. Now the details: Kampachi sashimi was fresh, flavorful and satisfying. The jerk octopus starter was enough for 2, hearty and a wonderful take on an octopus dish with fresh herbs, crema and grapefruit wedges. We both got the flat iron steak and fingerling potatoes. Very tasty and nice size portion. Only criticism is that it was not served warm - came out a little cold. It was a chilly evening and the restaurant was pretty chilled.
Be the first to ReplySadly disappointed by the weak menu offerings.
We ordered the salmon, swordfish, two different salads. The salads were pretty good and large servings. The fish, however, did not meet the expectations we had. The salmon was extremely dry and the lentils underneath gave the entire meal a disjointed flavor. The swordfish was really bad with the onion broth and huge pieces of onion in the bowl. I truly question the chef's choice of these items. View, service and wine were great, but sadly the entrees would make me think twice before returning.

Nothing special about these tacos, very plain and fish pieces were small. Left still hungry and something that I could have put together at home. Not worth the $16

Back on my San Diego BS For V-Day Weekend You guys I've lived in San Diego for ten years. TEN. That's a 1/3 of my life. I just aged myself Anyways, I was there last week at the beautiful @hiltonsandiegomv for a Conference. Beautiful hotel and highly recommend smoking a cigar on the pool deck with your boss Since valentines was the following day I ended up extending my trip and finally got the chance to have a date at @georgesatthecove - I've been eyeing this gem for legit a decade but am a broke back biatch. But my man's surprised me on a super special date at George's and it was phenomenal located directly in my favorite town of SoCo - @lajolla.ca It is the most picturesque with panoramic views of the ocean. Amazeballs It was chilly and I was wearing a risqué dress for vday of course. So I made a comment I was chilly and the waitress heard and brought us some cute ass blankets. WHAT! The main dish was impeccable but the real star to me were the muscles with a chili oil and bisque base of ancho chilly. It was so flavorful. My BF is quite the when it comes to spice if you know what I mean but he loved it. It wasn't like straight chili paste it was just ultra flavorful. Amazing night!!!! Highly recommend
Be the first to ReplyHad lunch here the view is spectacular breathtaking.
The food I ordered a chicken Caesar salad which was okay not great but ok! I'd come back for the view!

What better place to bring your out-of-town guest then to this great iconic restaurant where the views are amazing especially during Springtime or sunset any day. The outdoor bar is amazing with three bartenders at your command. The vipe is very upbeat. We love to kick-it at the outdoor bar sometimes. Summer is hot but tolerable. The outdoor dining area is beautiful especially along the rail. The staff is amazing especially when Tomas was the Manager. He really made us feel special. Indoor dining is the most impressive feature of this restaurant. You are attended as if you were on a cruise. The food is amazing, try it all. No bad choices yet.
Be the first to ReplyI came here with some friends from out of town for drinks.
The cocktails were very good, service was nice and had some great recommendations for us. I had the lobster roll and it was so delicious. We had a table by the balcony and had an amazing view. Everyone had a great time and and an overall good experience with the staff.

I'm not quite understanding why this place got so many good reviews... this place is totally overpriced and overrated for me!We came for a half day trip in SD, saw this place on yelp and decided to give it a try since the yelp reviews are so good... oh hell I was wrong and this is going to be my restaurant-pick-failed of the year!!!!!!! The drinks are meh and the food was ok... the price is not justifiable in my book even with the view... we got two alcoholic drinks and two main lunch entrees and I had to stop by shake shack afterwards... overall, probably would not come back again even with the view :(
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, drinks and an awesome view.
Great way to spend an afternoon with friends and take in the views.
Be the first to ReplyStill thinking about this meal days later.
We started with the salmon dip which is the best I've ever had. It's a mix of fresh salmon served with salt and vinegar chips. I could have eaten 3 portions of this. I had the seafood stew as my entree and it was PACKED with seafood. I would have maybe liked there to be a bit more flavor to it - overall just very tomato-y and water. But everything was fresh.

The place has so much potential but personally I wouldn't return, if I were to return I would go for the view and order drinks not any food. The food was extremely pricey and it wasn't even good. It tasted like cafeteria food. The service was great and the view but that's about it. In order for me to return the food would have to meet its price standard.

To start, this restaurant is iconic so I often treat out of town guests here. The view of the water is delightful, the service is impeccable, and the food is delicious and presented beautifully. It is indeed pricey so one should check the menu before making reservations. FYI. One can pay $$$extra to be guaranteed a premier seat, or you might get lucky and get an ideal location at time of arrival without sur charge... you'll probably have to make a polite request for that... no guarantee without paying extra in advance. One warning.., it's a long climb to get to the upstairs deck. I understand there's an elevator but you may have to ask for it.. it's sort of a weird ride as I remember. Once you're seated, this place screams class.
Be the first to ReplyReally did not enjoy the fish tacos at all.
Left feeling sick all day. The view is nice but options are limited on the menu.

Not sitting at the top floor was the wise choice as the sweet scent of the Ocean was so cooling through the Open View Windows at our Bench Table View. Our Party of Three split a bottle of Malbec and shared the Beef and Fish Sandwiches with fries before checking in at our adjoining suites in Oceanside. Really friendly and attentive service, a thoughtful presence at the end of a Southwest Flight from Sacramento.
Be the first to ReplyAnother flawless experience at George's at the Cove.
Flawless and wonderful in every possible way. We love this spot but hadn't been to La Jolla since covid. As soon as we booked our trip here, I made a brunch reservation for Saturday early afternoon. From the moment you walk in, the hostess is kind, professional and warm. Our server was on point - wonderful, friendly, and professional. You can't beat the view from the Ocean Terrace. Drinks - fantastic. Food - fresh and excellent. View - gorgeous. Service - wonderful. Everything we've tried on the menu is fresh and delicious. This is a MUST if you visit La Jolla - highly recommend!!

We hosted our wedding rehearsal dinner on the bottom floor (California Modern) followed by a welcome cocktail reception on Level 2 and could not have asked for a more amazing space! Kristine Fogarty, Director of Special Events & Guest Services, was phenomenal to work with throughout the entire process and accommodated us every step of the way- even going so far as to help us create custom menus and name place cards to add a special touch to the evening. We are forever grateful to the George's staff & Kristine for all they did to kick off our special weekend and cannot wait to come back for years to come!

This is hard cause I used to love this place but man this "new menu" barely had as any choices and everything just gets DRENCHED in sauce. Not to mention service is a lot slower. But they are so nice you can't ding it against them. Menu is very underwhelming and you have to wait quite a while for anything to get to your table. Used to be a favorite. Sad.
Be the first to ReplyBeen to this restaurant many times over the years.
The rooftop seating has great views of the ocean during the day and the food is very delicious. It's a great place for a nice meal and to relax. Parking can be difficult. Service is excellent. One of my favorite restaurants in La Jolla.

Smooth wine, good food, and most importantly, the spectacular oceanfront sunset view. Yes, this place is pricey, but compared to other overpriced food in the area, this surpassed my expectations. The service was also very good - our waitress checked in frequently and provided drinks/meals fast. I was also pleasantly surprised by the amount of vegetarian options - most places like this usually only have seafood options.Pinot Noir - light and refreshing but not too sweet. Truffle Mac and Cheese - could have done without, but I just really like mac and cheese. Could have had more cheese sauce.Butternut Squash Soup - The ingredients tasted fresh and we were served it right as the sun went down and it started to get cold - perfect timing.Lasagna - Very big quantity (had lunch for the next day) and the combination of mushroom and leek had good texture and was filling. Salmon - Friend had this not me, but said it was cooked very well. Definitely recommend if you're feeling bougie!
