We made a reservation--most likely necessary for this popular place. Hubby wasn't wearing a jacket so we were seated in the adjacent restaurant space "33," which was fine and what we expected. I actually liked the atmosphere in there better. The main restaurant has very bright lighting, almost glaring. Our server Kelly was extremely nice, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu and wines. There was a large group in our dining room that may have impacted food service slightly. We were dressed "nice casual" but some others in DR were very casual: Jeans and tennis shoes. There were also jackets and ties, so anything goes (almost). As for the food, we ordered filets and they were cooked properly. Unfortunately, I ordered mine "clemenceau" and the vegetable accompanient was almost cold. I suspect it sat too long before being served. The meal was very good but that tepid food took away from some of the enjoyment. A top rated restaurant, and NOLA institution should be perfect, and it wasn't but it was very good. Bread pudding dessert was delicious. The bill was around $160 before tip. They did take off $7 for the "not warm" veggies, and I had asked them not to do that, so that was nice of them to do it anyway. By the way, I would have mentioned the issue of the cold food sooner but our server did not return to our table until we were almost done with eating. That is a bit of a faux pas in the restaurant world. As mentioned, though, she was also taking care of a party of 16. We still appreciated her efforts.
