Fergburger Queenstown Reviews from The Last Year
Best burger in the world without any doubt!
The fergburger hasn’t changed in the last decades - still truly awesome! The quality of the burgers is extraordinary, honestly the best burgers in the world! Bit of a queue always (except when we went at 9.15am) but it is totally worth it. Enjoy the wait, it’s definitely worth it! They now have a Fergbar, Fergbaker amd Ferg Gelato, all of which are the condiments to this truly iconic place. To put it mildly, a visit to Queenstown is not complete without a visit to Ferg, perhaps at least 2 visits.
Tasty Burgers
We had to see what the rave was all about so we ventured down to Fergberger around 8:30pm in order to miss the queue. Glad we did. The burgers themselves were amongst the best we have had. Just fresh and tasty! Definitely worth the visit!

This was a difficult 3 stars because its definitely a decent spot, but it was way too hyped up for me before I got here. Before I had even arrived in Auckland I had heard the hype around this place, so of course I had to try it. You walk up and the first thing you see is the super long line that almost goes half way down the street. We went all the way to end and waited and waited and waited. Luckily the wait wasnt as long as it could be (roughly 30-45 minutes). I ended up getting the Fergburger, Sweet Bambi, and the hokey pokey milkshake. After I left, i realized that they gave me the completely wrong milkshake so i had to go back. I ended up getting both the hokey pokey and stracciatella since they allowed me to keep the old one. They were both REALLY sweet. Now to the burgers. Both good, but nothing eye opening. The Fergburger was better than the Sweet Bambi because the boysenberry chutney was too sweet. The best part is the meat from the Ferburger as its definitely fresh and different than an American burger. Both had big fat buns which were a little unproportional. I walked away satisfied, but unimpressed. A day later, we decided to go back because my wife really wanted to try the fries. We ended up getting a side of fries, which were a combination of Mcdonalds and In-and-Out. Fries were good, but a little small for the price. We ended up also getting another burger just in case and ended up landing on the best one out of the three, the Bombay Chicken. I get that its not a beef patty, but man were the combinations good and the chicken juicy. I'm really glad i ended up getting that Bombay because it moved me up from 3 stars to 4. Overall, if you're in town, try it, just keep your expectations low and you might walk away pleasantly surprised.

Heard a lot about this place for years and finally got the opportunity to stop by. When we arrived the line was down the block but it only took us 10 minutes to make an order. While you wait you can drink a beer( inside or underneath the awning only). You can even get a gelato next door at.... Yup Fergs . There is lik Brb, let me eat this burger. I ordered the Mr. Big Stuff. 3/4 lb big boy. Well it was a good burger. I would not put it in my top 5 but maybe top 10. It was very filling and I appreciated that as I was super hungry. The sesame seed bun was delicious along with the toppings. The burger patties themselves kinda threw me off. I couldn't put my finger on it but it was a bit overcooked. It's hard to judge burgers but if there was a 5 guys around the corner these guys would have serious competition. I am glad that I tried it. I am also glad that the line was very short and I didn't have to wait that long. I would say, give it a try if you're in town, don't wait in a super long line for it though.
Fergburger is a revelation.
I read about this in the New Zealand Guidebook. Then was told about it by the driver. So we made our way over to check the checkbox. The line was out the door, so we had to go up a few stores to get to the back of the line. The stores were: Ferg Gelatto and Ferg Bakery. They literally have that part of town cornered. We ordered: Fergberger, Codfather, Bombay Chicken and Spring Chicken. Every bite was an enlightenment. That memories of all burgers faded, and the one true burger, as it should have been all along was here before you. The Cod was the same way. The way Fergburger can do so many sandwiches so well is a testament to why the crowds are always mobbing this place. I will be eating here tomorrow as well.
Fergburger
A Queenstown favourite! we got a Burger for lunch one of the days while we were in Queenstown and it was amazing, would definitely recommend! the line was long but we ordered, got our number were told roughly how long it would be, so we went next door to have a drink at Ferg Bar while we waited. I had the little lamb burger and loved it, the chips were also delicious. We sat down by the lake to eat ours
Delicious
Had the porkbelly burger. It was BIG & succulent with 2 big thick slices of pork incl the crackling yum Nice fresh salad and dressing complimented it well. It's a meal by itself. Tip: I went in the breakfast time 8.30am and there was a constant flow of people , but there was no line.
It's ok if you can't speak English
Since I was staying in Queenstown, I researched the location in advance. I could tell right away that this was the only place with a long line when I passed in front of it on a tour bus. I read in reviews that you don't have to wait that long, so I trusted and lined up. As expected of New Zealand, a safe place. I made it to the register without any stress. Even though I didn't speak English, the female staff was very kind, even in the middle of a busy crowd. I was worried about whether I could order properly, but they confirmed it with me in Japanese (I was grateful that they listened to my request to cut one burger in half without a single complaint). The restaurant is small, but I was able to eat at the counter, probably because it is a custom to give up your seat after finishing your meal without lingering. The price is a little high, but that's because of the weak yen. If you think that you can only come here once in your life, it will be a good memory. Not only the hamburger but also the hot calamari rings were delicious. If I had been hungry, I would have liked to try another burger.
World famous, worth the wait burgers..
Fergburger, is becoming legendary.. Your see queues of up to 15mins morning, noon and night .. Pure steak burgers, or pure beef burgers, delicious…. I will forever remember this place ..
Life is too short for bad meals.
The food was terribly bland and lacked any kind of flavor that would satisfy one's hunger. The onion rings were under cooked and again needed some seasoning in the batter. Overall, the meal was edible, but I can't imagine why a queue exists throughout the day. The food could be redeemed if they chose to actually use seasonings. I recommend Montreal steak seasoning, old bay, or even Lawrys. The service was fast and convenient. The ambiance was what you'd expect from a burger joint in the USA, but you won't find subpar burgers such as what is offered at Fergburgers.
Nothing spectacular.
Burgers are ok and slightly above average. Not worth the queues.
Too high of an expectation.
i don't get it. these burgers are fine. i argue there's a bit too much bun to meat ratio. The meat itself has bits of sinew in it so it doesn't have a smooth bite. sadly these aren't even closer to in n out burgers or shake shack. i got the ferg burger with no cheese. fries are decent, sorta larger mcdonalds fries.

Usually a busy place, but when we went, line up was not bad, but had to wait for about 15 minutes to get the order. The burger is okay, to me it tasted like a glorified Burger King burger. It's quite a big burger, but nothing special. Not sure what all the hype is about. There are better burgers elsewhere, I am sure.
I saw a lot of hype surrounding Fergburger before I went to
I saw a lot of hype surrounding Fergburger before I went to New Zealand and was ready for one of the most amazing burgers ever - especially with options like a lamb burger and a venison burger. First things first, if you see a super-long line going to Fergburger, don't sweat it. The line moves and you'll have your order in before you know it. Wait times to get your food after ordering aren't all that egregious, either. Now, as for the food, itself, it's fine. Nothing amazing. It's probably not going to be better than whatever your favorite burger is back at home in a sit-down restaurant, but it will most likely be better than whatever your favorite fast food burger is. That's not something that I would go out of my way for the way you have to for Fergburger, but if that's for you, then give Fergburger a try.
Best burger
My hotel phone order for us and we just need to pick it up. No need to queue. We had The Ferg and it’s simply the best. Fries are good too.
Not sure what the hype is about!

Definitely a must eat if you visit Queenstown!! Best place
Definitely a must eat if you visit Queenstown!! Best place to go to at nighttime if you're hungry and nothing else is open. I'd say the all of their burgers are great, you wouldn't make a mistake in choosing anything. Also comes in huge portions, especially the big ale burger.
What a solid spot.
This place has good burgers, good fries, and awesome shakes. What more could you ask for? This burger can go up against any burger from back in America (where burgers are plentiful), and easily hold its own. The portions are good, and you don't feel ripped off. There's a lot of hype around this place that might make you stray to some of the more unique items on this menu, but I'd suggest sticking with the burger. You cannot go wrong. Friendly staff and a few tables inside, and if you are lucky enough to get a seat, the vibe in there is great!
Maybe it was an off-day because my experience was average
Maybe it was an off-day because my experience was average at best (and disappointing considering the hype). Fergburger first caught my eye after I noticed the insanely long line out the door, and we finally had a chance to visit after hiking Ben Lomond (figured it would be a great reward). We went at around 2-3pm, which meant virtually no line. I ordered the regular Fergburger and onion rings. The burger was okay - it's certainly enormous and great value for the price, but I thought the flavors were okay (nothing interesting). The patty was also a little dry. The onion rings were good, but some of the onions were quite undercooked. My friend ordered the Codfather which was not fully cooked and had to be thrown out. Service is pretty efficient considering how busy it gets. You walk up to the counter, order, and wait for your number to appear on the screen. There are some seats indoors/outdoors, but not nearly enough to seat all patrons (especially when it gets really crowded). So I would keep an eye out for open seats or plan to take your food elsewhere. Overall, glad I gave it a try, but not worth the hype for me.
Please visit here! The people are not lying to you haha
So we heard about this place from almost every single person we spoke to when we mentioned we were visiting Queenstown! We passed it a few times and the queue was outrageous! So we popped over one evening as it was nice and waited, we were only there for maybe 20mins waiting to place our order. When we got our ticket, we popped into the bar next door and the bar guy asks if we were waiting on the food. We said yes and he said that we get a deal on our drinks, which was a lovely surprise! Food was amazing, like really, it was the best burger I've ever had. We sat by the lake and ate the food. Please visit here! The people are not lying to you haha
Exceptionally Good Food at reasonable prices .
Firstly I’m not usually a burger fan but these are exceptional . The bread is brought in from the bakers next door a couple of times a day it’s super fresh. The salad ingredients are again really fresh . The fillings perfection. I don’t eat meat but had the Ferg Lafel twice and the Holier than thou Tofu burgers . My partner had the Ferg Burger with blue cheese and the Sweet Julie . All delicious. They are all plump burgers but as the ingredients are so good you feel nourished and pleasantly full not stuffed. Don’t be put off by the queue the staff are very efficient and when the food arrives it’s pipping hot. There are a few seats inside and more outside. On a nice day though there are great views , seats and a green at Earnslaw park how wonderful to eat your burger over looking the harbour and The Remarkables . The bakers next door Fergbaker do superb rolls and pies. Mrs Ferg you do great food and its quality at a good price.
Wow! Just wow!
This one was highly recommended from various drivers and tour guides. We were lucky enough to catch this place between lunch and dinner and were able to get to the register to place our order within a few minutes. After we got our food, we ate at the benches outside. Eventually the line wrapped around the block. The reason for this - it was an incredible burger and the fries are pretty tasty too. I’ve eaten hamburgers all around the world, and this is among the best.
You have to go!
Fergburger seems to be mentioned every time people visit Queenstown and it’s for a very good reason - it’s the best! Queuing always seems to be an issue, but not if you get your timing right, no queue for me and only a ten minute wait for the best burger I’ve ever had, awesome!
Giant Burgers
Iconic burger joint with tasty burgers and fries. Hubby and I shared a giant burger with gf bun. Long line but it moved quickly. We are across the street in a park.
Perfect burger
2nd time visiting Fergburger and it did not disappoint. Arrived at 5pm and we had collected our food by 5.20pm. You just need to pick when you go or phone your order through. We did see much longer queues during our stay. The burgers were top notch, one of the best I've tasted in a very long time. If I am lucky enough to visit Queenstown for a 3rd time I'll definitely be visiting again!
I've had Fergburger every day staying in Queenstown.
MUST TRY IN TOWN!! This place is so popular! There's lines nonstop and lines be very very very long. They're open early and goes on til late. I recommend The Fergburger or the Fergburger Deluxe. I haven't had the others but these 2 I've had and they were so delicious! The bun, patty....everything was combined to perfection and cooked perfectly. The fries were good too! Not too salty. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The Onion Rings were good too. Not salty. Crispy outer layer and real ring onions cooked on the inside. I don't recommend the sides The Salt and Pepper Squid. It wasn't good. Didn't have any flavor. There is 1 restroom inside. Limited indoor seating. Limited outdoor seating. Overall, try this place out.
Limestone Caves with Glow Worms. Unbelievable!
Fantastic. Glow worms were cool to see along with the overview of a cavern with stalactites and stalagmites. Boat tour was surreal.
Just okay...
Not going to lie, not sure what the rave is all about. I do love a good cheeseburger and thinking I may have ordered wrong. A local told me I had to go here and it is definitely worth the wait. The line to order took 15-20 minutes, but was moving relatively quickly for the number of folks in line. Staff hand out menus and answer questions while waiting, so you're ready to go when it's time to order. Afterwards, you exit the building and wait another 15 minutes or so until your order number shows ready on the screen. I ordered the Codfather vs. a traditional cheeseburger (maybe that’s where I went wrong) – but I was told the South Island is also known for Blue Cod so thought I’d check two boxes off my list in one. The sandwich was good, but I would not wait in line for that long and would not order it again. Can’t speak to the fries or any other sides. The bun is VERY big, kind of crispy or toasted and has sesame seeds. I added cheese to my sandwich for an additional $2.50 The portion is huge and could be split unless you have a huge appetite. While standing in line, I asked a few of the employees what their favorites are and they both independently told me similar options: (1) Ferg Deluxe for a burger (2) Cockadoodle Oink for chicken. Yet I went with the fish. lol There is a Bakery and a bar next door. I believe they are owned by the same company, but they have separate entrances and you do not need to wait in the long line for those two options. Overall, it was just okay in my opinion. If I were here for a long time, I'd try it again with a burger option since that is what people rave about.
We finally tried Fergburger on our way out of Queenstown,
We finally tried Fergburger on our way out of Queenstown, reason being that we got there at 8:30am and there was not a line yet. Burgers at 8:30am? Sure why not. This is supposed to be the best burger around and to be honest it was pretty great. I got the classic Fergburger with cheese. The patty was done nicely, the bun was soft and fresh and I like the simplicity of the toppings and sauce. It was huge and I ate the whole thing! We were able to find 4 seats inside which is probably not possible any later in the day so that was great and the inside was nice and clean. There's a few tables and benches outside too that were open during that time of day. If you're in Queenstown and have the chance, get a Fergburger, it's worth the hype!
Famous restaurant but the line moved quickly and our food
Famous restaurant but the line moved quickly and our food was ready in a few minutes to take back to our hotel. We ordered Ferg burgers with cheese, onion rings, fries, and ginger beer. They also gave me extra tomato sauce (ketchup) and aioli (mayonnaise). Yummy!
I ate here with my son and daughter.
All three of us are figuring what they hype is about. We all thought it was probably one of the worst burgers we had. I'm from the United States and there is no way this place would survive there. We all had variations of the beef Fergburger. We didn't feel the meat was seasoned at all..just flavorless ground meat. They had a great selection of other burgers with different meats. Maybe the other burgers are the one we should have gotten. Also, Im not sure what to think of the bun...it didn't taste like anything. However, the fries were decent. On the positive side, the staff was really friendly. Luckily the line was short and we got our food in about 40 minutes from the time we lined up. Yelpers are pretty good at rating restaurants, but the rating did not live up to the food. Two star seems harsh, but it really was not a good burger.
The burgers here are okay, definitely not worth the 2hour
The burgers here are okay, definitely not worth the 2hour wait in line. They did have a lot of meat in the burger which I liked but other than that it was mid. The service is great though they gave out umbrellas on a rainy day! The environment is also clean and nice!

Prepaid Reservation Fee

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
