Very overrated. Bad service. Lack luster food. Expensive but not worth it. Used to be good. Now hood. Nasty man behind bar told me to wait outside until party called. FU.
Be the first to ReplyFelix Oyster Bar is for real if you love oysters of all types.
Great old school oyster house with a raw type atmosphere. If you go here and want a Great experience, sit at the bar and get raw oysters, chargrilled oysters and the bbq shrimp and make sure to mop up the sauces from Shrimp and chargrilled oysters with that awesome warm bread. Cocktails are Strong, servers at bar are cool and the food comes Out quickly. There is a reason Felix has been around since the 50s. It ranks up there with the top oyster houses. Screw Acme and go across the street to Felix. You will not be disappointed .

Excellent food and service. I had a scallop dish that was great. My friends had a shrimp pasta and a redfish entree which they also enjoyed. Justin was our waiter. He was outstanding.
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced menu and lack of oysters.
My husband and I specifically picked this restaurant because of the reviews of their charbroiled oysters. We had never tried them and were excited to experience them while in New Orleans. However, when we went this particular evening, our waitress informed us that if we ordered oysters there would be a 45 minute wait to receive them. She mentioned that the oyster shucker could not keep up with the demand. We instead ordered crab cakes and a beet salad. The crabcakes were delicious but the beet salad was tasteless. We left feeling disappointed, both with the lack of oysters and in the overpriced dishes. We will not recommend.
Be the first to ReplyAbysmal, cold, terrible service, bad food
Based on reviews thought this was a safe bet but BOY WAS I WRONG. Food was absolutely not worth the LONG wait. Wouldn’t even be worth no wait in my opinion. Almost everything brought to the table was cold (and it being seafood makes me very nervous) tried to send something back for reheating and it was never returned to the table. Service was abysmal. The server got distracted talking up other servers 3 different times while taking our order. Somehow they seem to put more effort into flipping tables than our actual experience, yet the food was cold so not sure what anyone is doing here.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic restaurant in the heart of the French Quarter! Great service and food too!
Fantastic waitstaff at this Big Easy French Quarter restaurant. Devon was very personable and attentive. I enjoyed the platter of rice and beans, jambalaya and crawfish too. The French fries are tasty too. We will return here the next time we are in New Orleans.
Be the first to ReplyThe BEST charbroiled oysters!!!
We stopped in for lunch while in NOLA!! These cheesy charbroiled oysters were AMAZING!!! Definitely worth the trip to the French Quarter!!!
Be the first to ReplyGreat oysters at Felix
This place is epic. Prepare to down multiple dozens of oysters. We sat at the bar and watched the as the oysters were shucked and handed to us on ice. They don't get any fresher than this place.

3 of us were there for dinner last night. We ordered fried pickles and crab cakes as an appetizer which was nothing special. I ordered the Jambalaya hoping for a true creole New Orleans food experience but with barely any protein mixed in with the rice, it was the same as if I opened a box of Zatarain’s boxed jambalaya for $3 and made it at home . It would have been far cheaper than the $17 I paid at the restaurant. Bread pudding in whisky sauce sounded good but resembled a slice of wonder bread soaked in sugar water. Should have gone across the street to Acme instead for dinner
Be the first to ReplyOh the chargrilled oysters!
The food here is excellent. We went back three times for the charbroiled oysters. Great drinks - Love on the Bayou was so good. Honestly everything we tried was wonderful. It’s not fancy but don’t go to Acme across the street. This place delivers,
Be the first to ReplyPoor Experience.
This is a place to avoid. Wait staff does not care. You are going to experience long waits and some subpar food. People said to come here rather than Acme oyster house because it is better. It is not. Do yourself a favor and skip. I actually think the pecan pie is from Walmart.
Be the first to ReplyAwesome Oysters
I live in Florida and enjoy grilling oysters. Felix’s chargrilled oysters were awesome. We had to get a second dozen while waiting for our entrees. I wanted a third! In the center of the plate is a tasty piece of bread that soaks up the garlic butter sauce. They have abita amber on draft too. You wait in a line outside to be seated but it moves fast when they are ready for the next seating. I will definitely be back when I’m in NOLA again.
Be the first to ReplyAuthentic New Orleans Seafood
If you want a truly authentic restaurant in New Orleans, then you must try Felix. My husband and I luckily scored two seats at the ‘shucking’ bar late one afternoon. We were fascinated as we enjoyed glasses of wine and watched the bags of oysters being shucked on the counter. The friendly bar staff offered suggestions and we ordered several delicious apps. The restaurant seating (in the back) is very basic. People do not come for the atmosphere. They come for authentic super fresh New Orleans seafood.
Be the first to ReplyRed Beans & Rice to Die for!
Hands down, the BEST red beans and rice around. We sat at the bar which was fun, we had a sweet bartender Shayla and the Oyster Shucking team was so fun. Singing, laughing having a blast with customers. First time trying oysters and they were HUGE! Very fresh.
Be the first to ReplyWORST Management servive EVER
I’ve been coming to New Orleans for over 40 years and to Felix’s for many years. Today, my son and I had the pleasure of having Devin serve us. He was very professional and attentive. I rate his service a 5. I KNOW how large oysters are normally, how they should properly shucked and served. Today, many of the oysters were the size of a quarter. They were ridiculously small. The oysters had large shards of broken shell in the shell. They were gritty tasting and at $25 a dozen, a waste of money. Their crayfish ettoufee was mediocre, at best. Their red beans and rice taste the same as right out of the box. My son’s Bloody Mary was SO BAD he couldnt drink it. My Hurricane had an unusual taste. I KNOW, another Ken. In my defense, I have written many glowing reviews on restaurants and such. My reviews are my opinion, but never unjustly or maliciously written. We had just arrived in New Orleans and went directly to Felix’s longing for a delicious dinner. This dinner had to be the WORST dinner I have EVER had in New Orleans. The manager named Mike came over and as I explained my issue with the oysters and such, he continued to make excuses and roll his eyes. He was nit engaging nor empathetic to my issue. His main thought was to get this conversation over with so he could get back to his unsatisfying job With a bill over $120 and not even a “I am sorry our food did not meet your expectation” and no compensation from Mike, we will never return to Felx’s again. Whoever the GM or owner is should re-evaluate Mike as an employee at any position. He lacks Customer Service skills and the ability to deal with uncomfortable situations Believe me. I could have caused a scene and been a Ken, but Mike wasn’t worth my time. He would not last a day in Las Vegas

Ladies outside sorting out numbers for tables are hard workers, but once inside we unluckily had Brian as our “server”(?). He was morose, barely said a word, and our order of small salad, shrimp cocktail appetizer, and half dozen grilled oysters were brought out in reverse order ten minutes apart. And no lemon wedges for oysters. And dropped on the table with not a word. Hence no tip for him and hope his attitude improves.
Be the first to ReplyLong line inedible food
We waited 1 hour in line Received cold gumbo and turtle soup that was inedible. The service was slow it was by far the worst food that I have ever eaten in New Orleans and we have been traveling here for 20 years
Be the first to ReplyLong wait for entry and awful food
My husband and I waited for around 40 minutes for a table to be sat at the oyster bar with guys cracking oysters who were too busy to ask us for drinks, and our food order this was after 20 mins of making awkward eye contact as he was trying to avoid our gaze - it was only when I asked they even acknowledged us. After that they did nothing but hint at us tipping them with cash and paying our meal by card - while they joked with guests who were obviously their friends next to us. We were then served two cups of brown cold slush which was pretty inedible. They missed the third cup of slush. They only spoke to us again when I asked for the bill where they were trying to butter us up to get a tip. One guy just full on told us to give them a big tip - we felt a bit outnumbered and would warn anyone not to get sucked in by this tourist trap. This was our first meal in New Orleans and so disappointed.
Be the first to ReplyRaw Oysters, Half Shell, Whole Experience.
You truly cannot go wrong by going into Felix’s, the best oyster bar in New Orleans. It was crowded, but we were seated quickly at 2 pm. Krewe of Cork was going to come by soon. The fresh, raw oysters were the best. Great gulf oysters. I enjoyed my oyster artichoke soup immensely. My son said his red beans were truly outstanding. The waitress was so wonderful. She got us our food quickly! The only thing I don’t recommend is the char grilled oysters — Drago’s is far, far superior for that dish. But stick to what they do best, and Felix’s is the best.

Menu online isn’t up-to-date, the restaurant dropped multiple items recently. Staff was friendly and professional. Atmosphere- nothing special, odd vibe Food- charbroiled oysters had a great taste however every other bite had pieces of the shell within the meaty area… so spitting every other one out… blackened red snapper was delightful (finally something not fried!) but the tasty veggie side was cold. My sisters grilled chicken sandwich was nasty- I’m sorry but it was a waste… half the bun soggy and the other hard as a rock (really odd and gross) and the chicken by itself had no taste and the French fries were cold. We didn’t complain though because the staff were super busy and stretched too thin. But I wouldn’t recommend this spot.

Trio platter with jambalaya, étouffée, and red beans & rice was very good. It would have been a nice touch if platter had come with a slice of toasted French bread (hint hint). We’d hoped for some fried crawfish tails but were told they had limited supply and sold out early. Pleasant service staff and reasonable wait times. Old diner space could use a face lift—but as long as the food stays good, who cares?

Delicious food and great staff!! Convenient location and little wait time! Seafood platter was great! Lemon drop martini was perfect! Hot pecan pie to finish the night!!
Be the first to ReplyOh Dear. What a disappointment.
Waited in line for about 40 minutes. Many things on the menu were not available. The oysters were good. The gumbo was inedible so they didn’t charge us. The rest of the food was lukewarm at best and there was nothing fresh about it. All tasted like it had been cooked a couple of days ago and just reheated. Left most of it. All four of us thought the place ridiculously overrated.

We loved this place. The grilled oysters were amazing. We had the seafood gumbo and the Felix Special Po Boy, but the star is the Chat Grilled oysters, so good! Our first visit Vitoria took care of us at the bar and was fabulous. She recommended the oysters, so grateful! Out second visit was at he oyster bar.. this was truly dinner and a show. The gentlemen shucking oysters were having a blast with us. What a joy to watch! The place is busy so may be hard to get the bar, but if you can do it. What a treat!
Be the first to ReplyOyster Bar Feels Like A Tourist Trap
We had to wait in a long line to get into a shabby oyster bar with blah cocktails and so-so (or worse) food. The "jambalaya" which their menu claims to contain "shrimp, Italian sausage, chicken & smoked sausage" contained absolutely no identifiable pieces of any those meats. A complete waste of time and money.
