🤢 2/5 - Went here prior to David Byrne's incredible Broadway show

Went here prior to David Byrne's incredible Broadway show AMERICAN UTOPIA. Being in the heart of the theatre district I didn't have high expectations for an authentic Italian meal to begin with, but I wasn't expecting one star lower than an Olive Garden bowl of pasta. A solid bowl of spaghetti would have satisfied me, or a simply cooked piece of fish. Sadly, only the Focaccia bread brought to us when we first were seated would be the highlight of our pre-Broadway show dinner. We were seated scrunched in by two entrances. When I scooted over to the empty chair at our table, I was told I was blocking the coffee station behind the curtains. So why was the chair there? Our appetizer of calamari could have been straight out of a frozen food box from the freezer section of Big Lots. Somewhere inside those rings of fried, greasy bread crumbs I assumed were pieces of fish, I just never found much more than a few slivers. My entree of red snapper livornese did nothing for my taste buds except tease them as they begged my mouth for a drop of flavor. I tried my friend's entree of spaghetti with crabmeat in a light cream sauce. Sounds yummy right? WRONG. Just another snooze fest. of overcooked pasta turned into pasty baby food with an occasional guest visit by a piece of shredded crabmeat. Before my taste buds gave up on me and checked out for the evening, I believe I heard David Byrne singing to them "I'm on the road to nowhere". Servers were nice, decor was fine, location was convenient.
