Unique dining experience
Ekstedt is a restaurant with 1 Michelin star. As mentioned in the Michelin Guide, “It’s all about fire at this cozy, pared-back restaurant”. I began my dinner in the bar area where I enjoyed a glass of champagne and an amuse bouche of dry aged raw beef and vendace roe. It’s very good and made me look forward to what I’d eat later. Afterwards I went to the kitchen to enjoy the scallop and the famous oyster. They’re even better than the amuse bouche. To my delight, I’d a seat at the counter in the main dining area where I’d experience the heat of the wood-burning oven and chargrill and see the action in the open kitchen. All the dishes which followed were very delicious. Though the chef used ancient Scandinavian cooking techniques, the food was contemporary with Swedish flavours. I particularly loved the seaweed fired langoustine with celeriac and solaris. I finished my meal with a herbal tea and some very good mignardises in the bar area. It’s certainly a very enjoyable experience. The food was very good and the service very friendly and professional. A big thank you to a Japanese kitchen staff who I constantly talk to during my meal and who gave me a lot of information about the ingredients and the cooking techniques.

Indescribably delicious with surprising flavors and flavor combinations. Classic dishes prepared with great finesse. We got extra dishes between courses. Outstanding!
Be the first to ReplyFine dining at a high level with its own identity.
A set menu with a dozen or so dishes is served here. In accordance with the latest fashion, the menu is served in different rooms. Appetizers are served in the lounge. After that, you can go out into the kitchen where it is cooked over an open fire. There, lobster and oysters are prepared and served as the first two courses. After that, you can go into the dining room where the rest of the menu is served. Here is fine dining at a very high level. Cooking over an open fire adds flavor to almost any dish, which holds the meal together and enhances the experience. Despite the very high price, the meal is worth it. It will be a five.

A fantastic experience. The restaurant is genuine. The staff is inviting, knowledgeable and friendly. The atmosphere is exciting and yet relaxed. The food is divine. Important to have enough time for all dishes. A very nice evening that we will soon forget.

Incredible dining experience with flavors that explode in your mouth and every dish was a piece of art. If you then also add service and an incredible reception, you have a perfect evening, an incredible experience, and if you want to experience something in the way of food and drink as well as service, come here. Will live on this experience for a long time.

Gigantically extraordinary, worth every €. An absolute culinary delight. The best I have ever experienced in fine dining. Natural, not artificial. Star 🌟 cuisine to make you feel good 😊. It's on the must-have list for our next visit to Stockholm.

This spot is excellent for a special occasion dinner or just because you deserve it! It is michelin star dining choreographed to absolute perfection. On entry, you have a selection of small bites in the bar, following which you have further "bites" in the kitchen with the chef before proceeding to the restaurant. Everything we ate was excellent. It was a relaxed dining experience (not overly stuffy or formal) with really warm and friendly staff who complimented the entire experience. It is definitely an experiential dining experience and one to enjoy when you have the entire evening set aside as there is quite the number of courses and you will not be finished quickly. That being said, it is also quite the luxury not to be rushed through an experience such as this and to be able to soak it in and enjoy it. A must visit for anyone who enjoys "proper" cooking.

This was a simply magnificent restaurant. From arrival to departure, the experience was flawless. After enjoying appetisers and drinks in the welcome area, we started the 14 or so course experience in the kitchen where scallops and oysters were prepared over fire in front of us. The remainder of the main dishes - all cooked over fire - included celeriac, langoustine, reindeer and mushroom soufflé, before we returned to the lounge for petite fous and drinks. I also had the wine pairing. Each of the wines was great and added superbly to each dish. The staff were all impeccable - professional but fun. A great life experience!

If you could choose one venue to save up for and eat at, it would be this one. The staff welcome you and embrace you into their world. From the front of room , to the kitchen and everyone who makes sure you are welcomed and looked after. The food is a Magik of open fire cooking. The experience is wonderful and the variety of dishes exceptional. I couldn’t believe we were there for over three hours.
Be the first to ReplyA unique and overwhelming experience
The food is fantastic, and during the long dinner you get to experience a large variety of dishes. Dinner moves from the drawing room to the kitchen itself to the dining room. You change seats and atmosphere. Service is good and the smell of smoked food adds to the experience. Go.

This was such a unique and fun culinary experience with AMAZING food. You are taken into three different areas throughout the meal. The highlight was going into the kitchen and learning about how they prepare the starters. The food was magical, highly recommend!

Having had the good fortune of sampling several restaurants in Stockholm during a stint of living there, I would wholeheartedly recommend Ekstedt as the best in the city. It’s relaxed, the staff are friendly, service is impeccable and the food is incredible. The dishes they achieve on open flames are mind blowing. Everything about this place is just so good.

Ekstedt restaurant is a must when visiting Stockholm My wife and I love exquisite dining experiences and Ekstedt restaurant returns completely satisfaction on many levels. The tasting menu has to be the most memorable experience we have had from both a culinary perspectives and a fine dining journey of wonderful flavours. It’s a show that any serious foodie cannot afford to miss. On the affordability front, I’m pleased to say that all things considered you get what you pay for. Do it at least once you won’t regret it.

Amazing food, slick service from start to finish. Wine pairing really interesting and unusual, but fantastic to try. Super super impressed with this restaurant. Ate at a 3 michelin day before and this restaurant was very close in comparison- great

Be the first to Replya very special dining experience
I wanted to visit this restaurant after seeing its unique cooking style and its founding chef profiled on a number of tv shows. I was so happy when I cleared the waiting list and not only got a seat at the chef's table but also got a tour of the kitchen. The chefs could not have been nicer in answering the questions posed by me and my fellow diners. As expected, the food was imaginative and delicious. As a serious home cook, I am still in shock that they are able to produce a perfectly risen mushroom souffle (as a dessert course, no less) in a wood fired oven with no temperature gauge. The entire experience was a true highlight of my trip to Stockholm.
Be the first to ReplySour and smoke
The title says it all. There are two notes here. The smoke overpowers everything apart from the ubiquitous sourness and sickly creaminess that comes with everything. Presentation is lovely. Service is friendly. Turbot was unpleasant. Mushrooms were OK. Steak was almost absent. The room is adequate. Ultimately this is massively overpriced. The emperor has very few clothes on as far as I can see. I wouldn’t recommend this.

When you have a son who is a chef at a Michelin starred restaurant, 'professional development' tends to involve Mum and Dad getting a very battered credit card when you meet up. That was certainly the case. And it was the most superb meal I have ever had. Front of house were lovely, professional and informative. As someone who learnt to cook on wood the kitchen tour was fascinating and I've come away feeling re-inspired. Definitely one of my top lifetime experiences, alongside the Terracotta warriors.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent! An experience to savor!
We enjoyed our seven-course (which turned out to be 10-course) dinner at the chef's table, so we got to enjoy watching our meals (and other diners' meals) be prepared. It was have been a wonderful culinary experience, in taste, presentation and creativity, without the show, but sitting at the chef's table made it even more special. We spoke at length with the various chefs about the food and the restaurant, and they were tremendously knowledgeable. Not cheap, but reasonably priced for the experience.

We got a cancellation the day before and were lucky enough to get a seat at the chef's table so could watch the food being prepared. We chose the 7 course taster menu and with the extras this became 10 courses! I went for the wine pairing and my wife chose the non-alcoholic drink pairing. Both were great and it's good to see a non-alcoholic version on offer. We also got a tour of the kitchen (tiny considering they have 40 covers) and all cooking is done on coals/wood, so no gas or electric cooking. I can't being to describe the food itself, but each course was delightful and beautifully described by our servers. If you want a foodie treat then make a trip here, you will be in for a treat.
Be the first to ReplySimply fabulous
In a city with many stand-out and Michelin starred establishments, Ekstedt stands out for preparing virtually all elements of their menu over or involving flames and open fire. Three or seven course menus are offered but to have the full experience, the seven course is definitely recommended. It kicked off with ember baked scallops which were prepared to absolute perfection but the monkfish and the cold smoked row deer were just as memorable. If you happen to be lucky enough to be seated at the chef’s table, the experience is further enhanced by being able to see how these amazing and quite complicated dishes are prepared. The cup mushroom souffle with woodruff ice cream was an unexpectedly wonderful dessert before a selection of really well thought out petit fours. Their recommended Serbian red wine was a tremendous discovery accompanying this flawless meal. It is a bit heavy on the wallet but worth every penny for a once-in-a-lifetime dinner.

We saw the chef on TV in the UK and we’re intrigued. So when we came to Stockholm we decided to visit and we’re not disappointed. The food was superb and excellently cooked. Light and delicate with depth and subtle flavours. The wine pairing was very well done, expertly matched. Excellent service from an enthusiastic and knowledgeable team.

this is definitely a restaurant to watch. They have managed to perfectly execute a menu centered around a central theme (wood / sharcoal) with abundant creativity and never felt gimmicky. The wine pairing was also executed perfectly, not just complementing but actually enhancing the courses. I think that as they get the fine dialing on the service side (staff was incredible, this is just a minor note that the pacing between some of the courses was a bit long and out of sync with the wine) this place is getting more stars..
