Exceptional
This unassuming restaurant always seems to have a good crowd, especially on weekends. MY good friends Decided to give it a try and i was not disappointed! Good variety of food choices and surprisingly good service. The food was good too—some dishes were better than others , but overall still quite good. However, best was the signature crab in rice soup . I would consider prices there very reasonable for the dishes that we had. will definitely return.
Be the first to ReplyTwo very cantonese dishes excellently done in my first visit
My first visit, and I sampled two unusually done dishes - sweet and sour pork on ice, and sliced Garoupa in clay pot. I shall compare the sweet sour pork on ice with the only other one i know - Kai garden, a premium HK restaurant in Marina Square. The dish in the latter loses to this in that its pork patty in the centre is detached from the skin, whereas here the pork, partly fatty for good, is attached to the outer crusty crispy skin. Well done! Garoupa is a common fish in Chinese restaurants, but the way it was done here is very unique and quite Cantonese-style. See the pics. The other dishes and dessert were nice, but not screaming for highlighting like the above. Will return to try other stuff.

Extremely poor service at the cashier counter. Upon arrival, staff told us to wait for half an hour before we will could get a seat. After waiting for more than half an hour, we enquired how Long more we had to wait, staff informed to wait another half an hour and was extremely rude in her service and the way she talked to customer. Poor service
Be the first to ReplyMaybe good for Dim Sum
The parking on a weekend is crazy so do avoid peak hours. We ordered a few dim sum dishes which are quite good. The crispy noodles was a big disappointment as the gravy was quite bland. The pork leg was quite good.
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointing!
Visited with my family for lunch. The restaurant was really warm inside and when we asked to turn up the aircon, we were told that some of the units are not working and the remaining aircon already working at its maximum. Ordered porride and a few dim sums. The porride was cold and salty. The dim sums were equally salty as well. Only the Fried Sesame Balls (煎堆) were still as good. The restaurant and food wasn't like this when I last visited this restaurant. Price wise was also on the high side. Really disappointing and unlikely I will visit again.

The dim sum was very fresh. Har gow was nice, the prawn still crunchy. Siew mai not much different but still nice! We also tried HK pork ribs, egg plant and fried seafood hor fun. The char taste was strong. Love it! The staff whom served us, can't speak English but she was very nice and tried her best to get our order correctly. Bill came out $40 for food and drinks. Worth it. The down side was the timing. The cooked food came quite slow. Dim sum pretty fast. There was one staff whom not in uniform, a bit annoying. While we were eating, she wanted to remove the plate. There were queue outside but didn't mean that she has the right to do that. Overall it was a good experience. Definitely will come back again

Vistied the Sembawang branch for lunch. The dim sum was authentic and tasty. Ordered the fish soup with crispy rice, it was delicious!

I've visited East Bistro several times before deciding to write a review. This is definitely a MUST GO restaurant off the beaten track! Well hidden at a small road opposite Sembawang Shopping Centre, I enjoy their every dish especially the dim sum, freshly steamed and well looked after by the owner-chef. Recommend to make a reservation if you are going for weekend dinner to avoid disappointment! :)
Be the first to ReplyFragrant Claypot Crab
House speciality. Deliciously fragrant crab in a claypot flavored with fried rice cooked along with jasmine white rice The crab was sweet with firm meat and mouth smacking good The rice mixture tasted even better after it soaked in the flavorful broth for over 15 mins. Each bowl tasting better than the previous
