Good
We have been here in several occasions and always good. It is a small location and tables are tight. Gets a little loud. Service is good. We find that the food is a little pricier than it should be for the location, atmosphere and food. We have always been happy with the food and service. Note that the address is 13766 SW 84th St.
Be the first to ReplyTables for 2, first come first serve will not apply to you on busy nights
Dr LimĆ³n has always been one of my favorite restaurants in the Kendall area, because of itās excellent service and food. Two Saturdays ago (Feb 4th) I decided to go for dinner with my wife. Got on the list with the hostess for a table of two. The hostess mentioned that it was going to be a wait of about 25-30 minutes. Which is worth it, and usually they give you a table faster than that. Full disclosure, all my other times at this restaurant, I have been with parties of 3 or more. While waiting for about 25 minutes, we saw 3 groups of 4 and 2 groups of 3 that arrived after us, be seated. We also saw plenty of tables become available, but not given to us. The last group of ā3ā was a couple with a toddler, that had just waited about 5 minutes. When I asked the hostess why they, and the other groups were seated ahead of us, the hostess responded, that it was the restaurantās policy to seat tables of three or more ahead of tables of two on busy nights, unless a table with just two seats becomes available. So, it is Dr LimĆ³nās policy for parties of 2, not to be seated on a first come first serve basis on busy nights, even if a table with four chairs becomes available and is open for 5 to 10 minutes and the party of two has been waiting to be seated. That is ok, if the hostess would have told me, that this was their policy at the time I got on the list, or that there were two separate lists and wait times for parties of two. That way we would have decided to get on the list or not. Needless to say we left after getting the same response from the manager, that the hostess gave. The policy of the restaurant, applied by the hostessās judgement, is that a table for ā3ā that includes a toddler with a wait of 5 minutes, is worth more for profit, than a table for 2 that had waited for 25 minutes. Without a full disclosure of the policy ahead of time, the situation becomes extremely disrespectful to anyone and their time. Time of leisure is one of the biggest commodities anyone could have, and they disregarded this completely. If this is your policy on busy nights, at least have the decency of having two lists, one for tables of one or two, and one for the the rest of the parties. This policy puts āassumedā probable profits ahead of the wait time of a customer. That is plain wrong and greedy. Gordon Gekko in the movie Wall Street was wrong when he said āGreed is Goodā. Long term, greed is not a good business model. Not seating us on a first come first serve basis, just for the āassumedā probability of more profits, is not a good long term business model. Maybe Dr LimĆ³n has become too big and corporate of a business now, with 7 or 8 restaurants, to care for a situation like this and only care for profits and the bottom line. I hope that this is not the case, and that the hostesses and managers will be better trained, so a situation like this one is not repeated in the future. For now, just know that if you are a table of 2 on a busy night, be ready to be bumped for the sake of probable profits. Get a third wheel or another couple to join you, then you will be treated with respect and seated appropriately to enjoy this restaurantās excellent food and service.

Be the first to ReplyRude Takeout Service
Very rude service. We order take out all the time. Itās very expensive, plus they ask for gratuity of 18%, 20% or 22% for handing you a bag. Tonight they didnāt include chopsticks, soy sauce, or napkins. I decided to call them and let them know. Instead of being apologetic I got this. āAs you know we donāt include napkinsā, no I didnāt know that. Then regarding chopsticks I got a very rude apology, I couldnāt get a word in as the lady cut me off and said sheāll have gratuity refunded. Thatās not what I asked for and not the point lady, the point is a sincere apology is required. You just lost a customer today that easily spends $1000 a year with you. Plus Iām going to tell friends and family about how rude the service was. There goes a couple thousand, maybe it doesnāt matter at all to you. TO THE OWNER, please note inflation and a recession means you will need super loyal customers in order to survive. You should do something about the lady handling every single one of your take out orders at night and every single one of those customers.
Be the first to ReplySeafood Poisoning
Unfortunately, tonight was not the best night in this place. My husband asked as a main entryā Pescado a lo macho ā . He finished his meal, and after five to ten minutes of waiting for his coffee, he started to feel sturdy colic, try to stay calm to see if the discomfort has passed, but no, the problem was about to begin. We left the restaurant, and his symptoms worsened in a second, such as nausea, Severe cramping, face flushing, burning hands, palpitations, shaking, diarrhea, dry mouth, and a metallic taste, after several diarrheas= mucus and blood in the stool. FYI - He is not allergic to seafood - shellfish He is a doctor. Iām an ANP, and my daughter is in nursing school. He has seafood poisoning Fortunately, we had the treatment at home , but we could only alleviate some symptoms, he is still battling with the rest. I called the restaurant to give a heads-up about the situation and could take action with their seafood, but Pamela - an employee***decided to contact the manager and hung up the phone. She never takes time or the manager to return my call in case the call was disconnected by mistake. It could be a good idea to educate the employees who are handily the food about food compliance and staff in front of the house on how to treat restaurant customers when they receive calls.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food
Great food, but strictly Spanish speaking. They greeted me at the front door in Spanish and I said I only speak English. The young lady at the door gave me a ādeer in the headlightsā look. Then the guy standing next to her, waved his hand as in sit wherever you like. I was uncomfortable at this point so I took the nearest table which happened to be a 4-top in the corner by the door. After a few minutes, the waiter came by and asked if I was okay at the table. I said it āwas fine, but I can move if wantedā¦they just motioned for me to sit anywhereā. He said I was fine. I ordered but felt uncomfortable, hence, after 15 minutes, I moved to a 2 top behind me. He seemed happy with that. After the meal, I asked for cafe Americano or coffee, and he couldnāt understand. He grabbed someone else who could translate. Overall, great food and the sangria was amazing, but I felt uneasy, which I donāt like when I get a chance to eat out by myself. You MUST speak Spanish to eat here unfortunately.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent ceviches served in this restaurant
This restaurant has excellent ceviches. Their ceviche dishes were the best I ever had. Their service is very good and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
Be the first to ReplyO.K.; Not Spectacular
Ceviche is different to each diner's taste. I am a ceviche lover having eaten ceviche in many places including throughout the Andean countries where it was developed. Dr. Limon's ceviche was decent but not "to die for." The service was very good and the Pisco Sours well prepared. All in all enjoyable but many local alternatives at a reasonable price.
