very average, overpriced food
My friends really wanted to go there for dinner so when we had to queue outside for 45 min and then another 40 min of waiting inside to be seated I thought the food must be amazing... The side salad called KACHUMBER cost you Ā£5.50 and in the menu is described as: "A messy to-do of cucumber, onion and tomato. A little lime lifts the whole affair" ... When it arrived it was mix of chopped tasteless, hard, supermarket quality cucumber and tomato with a lot of onion, zero seasoning, just tasteless dry pieces of veg in a bowl... The DISHOOM CHICKEN TIKKA was a few small pieces of chicken served on a leaf with mountain of chopped onion on the side.... It pissed me off, it's another overhyped, extremely loud, overpriced "trendy" place in London with average food and pretentious atmosphere. The manager was good at the end, giving some vouchers after we complained. But still it's a mystery to me why people are satisfied with rip-off like this one

Food is overrated & overpricedā¦ u cannot sell ambience for qualityā¦ some reception staff seemed a bit too cocky. Iāve been there last Sunday & again yesterday for Wednesday dinner & donāt think I will be returning soon ! Having grown up in those airy, spacious Irani restaurants in Bombay like Kyani & Bastani & Sassanian in Marine Lines, I was hoping avarice and advertising gimmicks would take second place to Irani value for money simplicity.& old world charm which only the ā urbs prima in Indis ā can provide would stand out in changing times ! I cannot echo Adi Murzbanās ā Bambara Neri hain ā as I doff my hat to the memories of Reza Shah Pavlavi & Queen Soraya & a plethora of old Bombay Persian traditionsā¦ give me botti kebab & moghlai biriyani followed by bun maska aroma & caramel custard anyday. Good luck! However, some staff like Mangesh, Irma, Lauren & Ankara stand out as your asset ā¦

Dishoom KC was recommended to me by a good friend, so I booked a table for lunch for me and my mum when we visited London for the day recently. I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences I've ever had in a restaurant. My mum has a rather tricky citrus fruit allergy, so when our waiter, Daniel, found out (mum requested no citrus wedge in her drink) the team made a superhuman effort to make sure that she was safe. They were patient and courteous and extremely respectful. It was a refreshing experience as not all establishments are as tolerant. The food was delicious, so flavorful and the atmosphere was fantastic. I am so grateful to Daniel and the team at Dishoom KC for looking after us so well. I will certainly recommend you to anyone looking for an outstanding lunch venue in the future. Thank you!

Awful. Two hours after eating here I have been struck with diarrhoea. It's the only food eaten today and felt fine beforehand I had the prawn dish. Very spicy so much as to be too much. Would help if they guided you on the menu as to how spicy it is. I have hearing difficulties so no point me asking the waiting staff as could barely hear them

Iāve waited a long time to visit Dishoom. Todayās visit was not disappointing. The service was excellent (thank you Jamie) food arrived quickly and was excellent. I have their recipe book so was keen to compare my efforts, pleased to say Iām on the right track. Canāt wait to revisit

Great atmosphere and staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Food was delicious and different to the norm. The food could have been a little hotter but this didnāt stop me eating every last bit.
Be the first to ReplyExceptional service
My husband and I chose Dishoom to celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary. The food was phenomenal, as expected. However, what inspired me to write this review was not the food this time, but the exceptional service we received, especially from our server, Naomi. She took the time to thoroughly explain the menu to my husband, who was visiting Dishoom for the first time. Her recommendations were spot-on. The highlight of our meal came when we asked for the bill. After a bit of a wait, we were surprised to receive a complimentary pudding, accompanied by a lovely message written on a napkin. And when we finally received our bill, we found another lovely message on it! We attempted to tip Naomi, but she explained that a service charge was already included, and basically refused our tip. This was a first for us, and it exemplified the first-class service we received throughout our meal. Itās this level of care that ensures we will return again and again. Thank you, Dishoom and Naomi, for making our 21st anniversary celebration not just memorable, but truly special. ā„ļø

We made one of the few reservations available, so managed to skip the long line on a Sunday lunchtime and be taken straight to a table. The decor is interesting - they say it is based on Irani Cafes - but even if you aren't familiar with those it has vibes of Indian railway stations in places and vibes of Indian colonial hotel bars in others. I wasn't coming here looking for an authentic Indian meal, so didn't come with that mind set. It was genuinely good, though. We tried the house chaat. It turned up almost looking drowned in white yoghurt so I was fearing the worst, but in fairness under that layer was a flavoursome chaat that mixed in well with the yoghurt. The chicken tikka was quite spicy and very flavoursome, so high marks for that. We tried the chef's special of malai kofta, which was one of the tastiest malai kofta's I can recall trying in a restaurant, and nowhere near as creamy as I'd feared. The black dhal was also recommended by the staff, so we gave that a go too. It was nice, but if I did it again I probably wouldn't order it. The special filter coffee was really very good. A surprise high to the meal. Would recommend.

The host Veer was such a lovely guy, made us feel soooo welcome and the chia tea was nice and sweet. Natalie our waitress was a delight and helpful like Veer was, our menu choice they gave us went down a treat.
Be the first to ReplyVERY EXPENSIVE GLASS Of WINE!
Lovely food and great service. BUT added a small glass of white wine half way throught the meal - Ā£13.50 (plus the 12.5% service charge) - Ā£15 for a small OK glass of wine. Ridiculous!

Great experience from start to finish. Front of house staff welcoming and all staff super efficient on a busy Valentines Day lunchtime. Our waitress helped us choose off the menu. Food was delicious. First visit to Dishoom. Wonāt be our last!!
Be the first to ReplyNot your usual Indian
This is an unusual and trendy place and is very popular. The restaurant is large, rambling and purposefully ramshackle. It seems to be based on a Bombay street market. The dishes are really for sharing although there are mains and smaller courses. The service is exceptional in an American style although not requiring the excessive American tip. I had 2 small portions of crispy prawns and a chicken tandoori type dish. They were unusual and more than enough for 2 as a starter. Beware that the chicken was quite spicy and the waiter soon sorted that out for me with a delicious raita dip. Overall very enjoyable with a bill of Ā£30 including tip and a large Kingfisher beer.
Be the first to ReplyThe level of service was some of the best I've ever experienced
Now the food quality at Dishoom is never going to be questionable, it never misses a beat however the real stand-out star on this occasion was the service. I can't express in words how smooth the service was. From being given hot drinks outside whilst we waited (which is common, but still a nice touch to do from a company), to getting inside and sitting downstairs in the bar - the connectivity of the team was almost theatre like, everyone was so happy and knew exactly where we were supposed to be going/what we ordered. Honestly, 10/10 experience. Dishoom truly will never disappoint you.

Great food, fantastic service and excellent value. The Persian influenced Bombay cuisine was fantastic. We were made to feel like we were the only guests there. Our server, Layla, was outstanding . Wonderful experience.

My wife and I had waited throughout the whole pandemic for our first experience of Dishoom. The service was friendly, non-patronising and absolutely on point. The food was excellent and varied. Not a surprise that as we left, we saw a long queue waiting for a table. Dishoom presents as a fine dining place. The standard Indian menu is a distant memory. Weāre planning to return.
Be the first to ReplyThank you NAOMI for excellent recommendations and guiding me to enjoy something new!
Another awesome foodie and exceptional service experience - this is my favourite Dishoom - consistently incredible food, kindness and just the best staff. Thank you to them all but especially Naomi who always goes above and beyond x
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding food, brilliant service
First time at Dishoom, and it did not disappoint. Fabulous friendly service and exceptional food. The lamb samosas and Chicken Berry Britannia were absolutely delicious. As was the chai latte. As a party of 8, we were able to pre-book and beat the queues. But this place is so good, Iād happily queue any time!
Be the first to ReplySo excited. So very disappointed
I was so excited to finally be going to Dishoom. I didnāt even get through the door. Having worked in the hospitality industryās finest for over 2 decades I believe I understand the stresses and strains that are encountered. However, I can honestly say I have never been spoken to so rudely, met staff that couldnāt care less and been treated with such disrespect. Dishoom are clearly about bums on seats, get āem in and get āem out and the revenue. The staff are poorly trained. Have no idea how to manage a restaurant, speak to guests and are clearly only focused on the revenue. Customer Service couldnāt be further from their minds and their reservation/queuing/seating policy is truly amateur. Shame on you all.

My second visit to Dishoom Kings Cross, this time with my three sons, as two of us had recently had birthdays, so a nice day out with lunch , Dishoom is so authentic and tasty, with great choices , one son had the vegan menu and the other two and I shared a wonderful selection of āsmall platesā plus I had the Traditional chai which I love, plus a rose and cardamom lassi. The staff are so welcoming and friendly, the ambience is great , Iāve re booked for April when I meet up with a friend , canāt wait !!! Oh yes ā¦ Iād book if I were you , the lunchtime queue of non bookers was HUGE !!!

Be the first to ReplyAmazing Visit
Dishoom was on my visit list when I planned the trip to London. If you can handle the heat, I recommend the Chilli Chicken, it is so good. and for desert I recommend the Kala Khatta Gola Ice. When I am visiting authentic restaurants I usually ask the waiter what is usually the best thing thing to eat, the waiter suggested the Gucchi Biryani and when I received it, I saw it was a huge dish filled mostly rice and little bit of mushrooms, the size of it is for a group of people, I had no plans of getting filled with just rice, so I asked someone that works there to give me a menu. This person was Artour, and later I found that he is the manager, he saw I did not eat the dish and asked what happened, after he understood, he made the experience a visit to remember. He suggested to order from the small plates so I can taste more Indian favours from the menu, he than gave me dips and said that he removed Gucchi Biryani from my and that is not all. At the end of the meal, Artour came with complementary breakfast card and said that I can use it in the next 2 months, It was a surprise as I did not ask to return the dish, he acted based on wrong recommendation I received from the waiter and noticed that I was not going to eat the dish, he made the visit perfect. The atmosphere in the restaurant is calm, highly recommend visiting and eating there. Note that there is an hour long line to get in so it is recommended to book a visit before. I was lucky to get a place on the bar with no wait. Enjoy
Be the first to ReplyTerrible service
Having visited a number of the other restaurants in the chain we were excited for a Saturday late lunch here, but unfortunately left really disappointed and unable to recommend. Fortunately we arrived with a reservation since the long queue outside was being quoted over an hours wait without one. Once inside it became apparent quite how big the restaurant is, split over three levels and numerous tables the other side of the bar at ground level. Itās nice that there is a large range of seating options, from big group tables, bar seating, low tables by the window for a casual snack and traditional options. The seating at the front area of the restaurant lacks a lot of the atmosphere, since itās bright from the large windows and has a lot of passing people. Our table was round the rear of the ground floor, and although very close to the two adjacent ones had a good vibe and was comfortable. As soon as we were seated however the service proceeded to be poor throughout. Our initial order of drinks had to be chased and it was very difficult to converse with our allocated waiter. In fact, after waiting over half an hour for our food order to be taken, when asking to finally place it we were told ānoā. This was clearly a misunderstanding again, however we continued to feel forgotten about. During all our prior visits to the chain we have noted the number of staff, and that they all seemed calm and under control. On this occasion there were still the same number of staff however the service came across chaotic and confused. Surprisingly the food arrived in good time, brought by a different member of staff without any āpleasantriesā of explaining what the dishes were etc. The portion sizes were good and with the flavours represented reasonable value for money. The same wasnāt true for drinks though, with soft options being close to five pounds for a bottle. Toilets are on the lower level and depending on where your table is, can be a long trek. Expect to squeeze past the close tables downstairs and wait for the staff to finish serving tables before youāre able to pass. At least the small bathrooms are clean and well decorated. Once finished with the meal it again took an age and chasing to obtain the bill, only to be told we had to pay by scanning a QR code. At this point our waiter was never to be seen again, presumably in case we wanted to debate the āservice chargeā which had been added to the electronic bill, and therefore impossible to remove. There was no one to thank us for the visit, check if all had been okay, or even to offer assistance with paying should we have needed it. We left feeling far from valued customers and canāt imagine returning.
Be the first to ReplyStunning!
Took my wife and my mother in law to experience Dishoomās flavours. Stunning! Bombay vibes, all around. The dĆ©cor, the aroma, the lighting, super stylish, one of those places makes you feel cool. The food always impeccable, Ruby chicken, chilli chicken, the lamb, the bread, I could go on for hours. Trust me you can order anything on the menu, youāll be delighted. The Staff are a bunch of lovely people who know how to give you a genuine and amazing experience. Every single team member is nice, polite and extremely helpful. Shout out to Arantxa, who looked after us, we had the best time. Definitely coming back, Dishoom is a game changer, affordable, pretty good cocktails and banging food.
Be the first to ReplyLovely place to eat and relax
Dishoom Kings Cross has a really lovely and relaxed atmosphere, we went at lunch and got an amazing low table with big rattan chairs on the ground floor. It has funky Indian music, lots to see and the decor is great and very different - a club like atmosphere. I could have spent a few hours here just sipping drinks and eating slowly. The food is great, it is quite rich but very tasty. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We shared 8 small dishes between 3 and there was plenty of food, with each dish well cooked and perfectly spiced.
