Dishoom Covent Garden London Reviews from The Last Year
Perfect food, perfect 10/10 service
It’s not a surprise that the food is amazing. Everything we ate (group of six) made us dance on our chair. Even that critical ‘foodie’ friend that everyone has was blown away. Stand out dishes are the chilli chicken, daal & the chocolate pudding (do NOT skip dessert!) What maked our visit extra special was our server Melisa. What a ray of sunshine, whit and advice. She was the cherry on top of our visit. Extreme good service is something you don’t see very often so when it happens it’s a gold lining on a otherwise great evening with great food. Melisa, stay amazing!
VIP treatment
I didn’t attend this place as a customer yet I was treated like I was a VIP. My young daughters (6&9) and I went to see Harry Potter and the cursed child in theatre, But unfortunately after the production my phone was pickpocketed. Using my Apple Watch I noticed it was tracking in this restaurant or nearby. I attended this restaurant explaining the situation to the front of house staff, expecting them to say we can’t help you. Instead, they sat me and my young daughters down, they got my daughters some colouring entertainment and a member of staff offered to stay with my daughters whilst I talked to the manager about my stolen phone. They honestly could not have been more welcoming and helpful bearing in mind I wasn’t even a customer. The manager let me login on to his laptop and mark my phone as stolen and check where it was tracking, which unfortunately it was no longer near this restaurant. The help, warmth and welcoming from this place was honestly tearjerking. They did everything they could to help me even though I wasn’t a customer. Which makes me want to return to this place again and again as a customer. Furthermore, I sent an email to the head office thanking them for their help and support and in return they sent me a make at home naan bread kit. Which was absolutely unexpected but delicious and incredible!! I truly believe this restaurant is not about making money. It’s more about making their customers happy even if you’re not a customer. :) Thank you so much. I will definitely be ordering more make at home kits from you guys as they are absolutely delicious and we will be coming back to visit you as customers soon.
Wonderful Food & Incredibly Attentive Service
This spot is clearly very popular and deservedly so. When we arrived there was a queue out the door and we were told that there was a 20 minute wait, but we were seated sooner than that and it was certainly worth the wait. The food here is excellent, there's a lovely atmosphere inside and the staff were really fantastic, so attentive despite how busy the restaurant was!
Dishoom Doesn’t Disappoint!
4 friends recommended Dishoom to me when I arrived in London and I have to say that my expectations were high. I was not disappointed as it was so good! I can still taste the Dishoom chicken tikka with its unique spices. The chicken was moist and came apart on the fork without much force. The waiter recommended the basmati kheer for dessert, which was a great selection. I enjoyed the entire meal and would go back. I didn’t like having to pay extra for basmati rice. I expect to pay for naan, but not for rice. I guess this is the new trend? This restaurant ran like a well-oiled machine! The management does a great job as I noticed the staff were all busy all of the time, but in a positive way. My waiter was stuffy, but he did his job well.
Reminescent Indian lunch
Great vibe, very attentive staff. Busy and efficient, very friendly atmosphere. Food came quickly - perfect for a middle of day "quick"lunch. Food was beautifully presented and perfectly spiced and seasoned. Chutneys, including with extra spice heat, arrived as condiments to dial up the heat as required. Fantastic Indian food - suitable for vegan and vegetarians. Will definitely be back for more.
A place worth waiting for, worth spending for!
This place is like synonymous with Tasty Indian food in London and waiting here is worth every minute. Their own Aloo chat is awesome and so is the service. It's worth visiting at least once if you are in Indian food fan in London.
The best Indian food I’ve ever had
I’ve wanted to visit Dishoom for so long and as I’m in London for work I thought I’d give it a go at 6pm on a Monday evening. I only queued for 10 minutes and was given chai tea whilst waiting in the queue. The interior is beautiful and buzzy and brings a smile to your face. The waiters are all very friendly. The food. I can’t even describe how amazing the food is. This is hands down the best Indian food I’ve tasted. I had the chicken ruby curry, the broccoli, pistachio, lime and chilli salad, roti and bhat. It was definitely too much for one person but it would have been a travesty to waste it. I then had the melt in the middle chocolate pudding for dessert with chilli ice cream… there are no words! Like pure molten chocolate. I cannot wait to come back and bring my husband! Worth every calorie.
Literally the best
My husband says “literally the best Indian food I’ve ever had.” We love Indian food and eat it in every city we can find it, but the flavors here were just perfect. The atmosphere was also fun and romantic. No complains. We waited about 35 minutes to be seated, but it was totally worth it.
Delicious Indian restaurant with character
Lovely food, ambience and service. Friendly and very helpful staff. Helped with allergies too and provided allerternatives
IMPRESSIVE
Wow, third visit here over a period of years. It still delights and impresses me, every member of staff cheery, helpful and extremely professional despite being super busy. The food is SO good , wonderful delicate flavours, the black daal still being my favourite. The busy atmosphere is definitely part of the buzz. Looking forward to our next visit.
Dark weatherspoons canteen feel
Long wait to what turned out to be a weatherspoons canteen. Was fairly near the door which was opening constantly with the large flow of diners. Had the chicken ruby. I know when I’m tasting Heinz tomato soup and that definitely tasted like it had that in it. Overall food was pretty uninspiring. Much better food at your normal curry house. Came to £100 for two of us with one drink each. Plus no cobra served here
Authentic Indian -- didn't disappoint!
Great Indian restaurant -- casual dress is just fine. Service was great and menu has something for everyone. A must if you are in London!
Superb indian restaurant
This is a very large hotel with great Indian food. Nice exciting vibrant atmosphere in the restaurant Wait is long so keep that in mind. It was raining and we were given the opportunity to wait at the bar That was great since it took us out of the rain. Restaurant is in a nice area of covent gardens. Service was good management was friendly. Prices were good also
Amazing meal with family!
Food was amazing every dish we tried had so many different flavours absolutely delicious. The staff were really friendly and the service was excellent. We are looking forward to going back soon.
Better than expected.
Grabbed an early reservation, to try one of the dishes reviewed by the excellent cooking show 'Milk Street'. If you can eat early, reservations are the thing, as when we left there was a line (VERY popular place in London). It was better than we had expected, and our server (Antonio) was extremely helpful and offered some great suggestions. Talked us through the menu items we were interested in, and educated us on several of them. Went there for the 'gunpowder potatoes', but everything we tried was excellent. A great option for people that like 'spicy' foods (my wife) and those of us that like 'flavorful' (not burn your mouth) foods. Definitely added to our list of must-eats when we are in London. We bought their cookbook to try some of their options when we are home in Texas....
Everything was wonderful
This place had a line out the door constantly and although we didn’t make a reservation, we were still able to get in fairly quickly without having to wait forever. The staff were extremely friendly. Our waiter was attentive, knowledgeable and very kind. He gave us great recommendations. We are both vegetarian and got the Daal with naan, rice and the veg samosas and everything was packed with flavor and very enjoyable. My sister enjoyed her cocktail and I got the mango lassi which was delicious! The prices were fair and the menu is very diverse. I also really enjoyed the interior as its extremely comforting and although its crowded, you don’t really notice as the restaurant is huge and the tables are well spaced out. If I lived in London, I’d definitely come here weekly.
Fantastic date night
Had heard lots of good things about this place so decided to try it out with my partner. Went to the Covent Garden space and they served us hot drinks whilst we queued which was kind, queue was not too long at peak time but the place is absolutely massive! Two gigantic floors and it was completely packed inside. That being said, our waiter was super attentive to us throughout the night, everyone we met was really friendly and accomodating which we really appreciated. They also helped explain the menu and how things worked. We were recommended the house chaat as a starter which was honestly one of our favourite dishes, super refreshing and a really unique mix of flavours with the pomegranate, sweet potato and cool yoghurt. Loved this one! We shared the chicken ruby and the house dhaal with some naans, rice and a couple of sides including the grilled mushrooms - the dhal is brilliant, super rich and comforting but not too filling so you can always go back for more. Mushrooms were nice and well seasoned and the chicken ruby was very creamy. Naans were good, though I wished each portion would have had a bit more. To round things off we had a pistachio kulfi. Very refreshing though a bit pricey for only one. Either way though, we had a wonderful time! Very enjoyable date night and would recommend!
Wow this place is incredible! Short line to get in but they
Wow this place is incredible! Short line to get in but they brought us complimentary house chai, which was a great act of service to help us warm up. The food was extremely flavorful and came out hot/quick. The atmosphere & service were fantastic as well. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a good dinner spot in the area ir traveling through!
Overrated!
It's okay if you're vegetarian. However, the meat dishes were below average. Staff were also unfriendly and we had to wait a long time for our food.
Beats bacon and eggs!
Booked for 11am breakfast (lunch bookings unavailable for next 3 days!) The breakfast was brilliant. The Keema per Eedu is excellent - chicken and eggs and lovely warm buns 😋 Service warm and welcoming. Décor adds to a wonderful ambience, with nice touches like Verandah area. You will not be disappointed (I hope).

Visited dishoom while visiting London and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and service. Would love to visit again.
This is the fourth Dishoom I have been to and it did not
This is the fourth Dishoom I have been to and it did not disappoint. Service was excellent and food was the usual awesome. We were a table of 8 and everyone was very happy with service, food, and atmosphere. Will definitely return to the Battersea location!
While definitely overhyped and expensive, you are paying
While definitely overhyped and expensive, you are paying for the ambiance and service. It was a 15 minute wait on a Thursday night- the long line moves very fast and they give you chai while waiting. (Also outdoor heaters when it's cold). Inside, the restaurant is massive and very loud. I got the chicken makhani, the famous black daal, garlic naan, and my friend got the grilled prawns. The makhani was decent, a bit sweet but wanted more flavor. Very generous portion of chicken. The daal was good, also wish it was more flavorful - maybe my expectations were too high. Garlic naan was too burnt & didn't have enough of a garlic punch. Also wish they were more generous with the naan. Overall, not even close to the best Indian food I've had. Automatic optional 12.5% tip as always.
Americans, take your dollars elsewhere
I had just arrived in London from the US to visit my daughter. We've traveled a lot and love Indian food, so I asked her to Indian restaurant in London. She chose Dishoom. She was anticipating this dinner for weeks. Immediately when we were seated and our server (a sandy haired guy with a beard) learned we were American, he began making insulting jokes about the US, American food quality and the state where we live. We made some jokes in return, but every single interaction we had with him, he had terrible things to say about our home. It was unacceptable. As an American who travels, I know that people who haven't visited the US often think they are experts, but this was beyond rude. Each time he came to our table, he made a negative comment about the US and even made a snide comment about how many other Americans he had had to serve tonight. This is a highly touristy area, so I am not sure why this is surprising? We were just trying to enjoy our time together. In all of the places I have been, I have never been treated so poorly by restaurant staff. A few jokes would be fine, but the level of insult he directed at us ruined our meal. The food was good but the experience with this server, however, ruined one of the rare special moments I get to share with my daughter who lives so far away. There are many excellent restaurants in London. It is easy enough for Americans to take our dollars elsewhere.
Fabulous
There is usually a wait but so worth it. We waited outside in line for about 30 minutes. I can’t praise the food enough. Everything we tried was delicious with layers of flavors. Honestly unlike any Indian food I’ve ever had . I wish we had this restaurant in NYC. Our waiter was exceptional as well…. Friendly and eager to help with the menu.
Dishoom Covent Garden
First time visit to Dishoom, we have their cook book so felt compelled to visit on our trip to London and were not disappointed, fabulous menu, great food and atmosphere, polite/attentive staff, we have no hesitation recommending this restaurant!👍
Really recommend Dishoom
My son arranged a family breakfast at Dishoom to celebrate his 50th birthday Despite being busy on a Sunday morning we were made to feel very welcome and not hurried at all. The staff were all very helpful, friendly and informative I really liked being given - without asking - a jug of water for the table The breakfast menu was extensive with plenty of choice for vegetarians and no problem providing gluten free dishes The food was absolutely delicious- fantastic but subtle flavours and in generous portions
My fiancé and I both got food poisoning from here and it
My fiancé and I both got food poisoning from here and it completely ruined the last couple days of our holiday. DO NOT EAT HERE
The best Indian food in all of London! We were in town for
The best Indian food in all of London! We were in town for a week and literally came here twice during our visit because it was so good. We pretty much ordered one of everything on the menu and the server had to move us to a bigger table!!! Every single thing we ordered was phenomenal. I love the aesthetic of the place and the way they have to line up outside but then you get to go inside and have drinks for the remainder of time you are on the waiting list. Highly recommend giving this place a try!
I really liked Jordana service she gave me advice on what
I really liked Jordana service she gave me advice on what would suit me and I loved the outcomes!!
Great food and great service! Went to the Carnaby street
Great food and great service! Went to the Carnaby street location which isn't as interesting as the covent garden location but still good. Didn't try the cocktails.
The food was good but unfortunately 3 separate white male
The food was good but unfortunately 3 separate white male waiters were being quite rude to us and made the experience quite uncomfortable. They kept side eyeing our table, were not patient as we ordered, sat us right next to the bathroom when multiple other tables were open, and on our way out a waiter held up a flyer of an Asian performer and pointed at us, obviously indicating our shared East Asian heritage. I'm quite disappointed that such a highly regarded restaurant in London was such a bad experience as my friends and I had lots of excitement upon entering :(
Our 1st time here.
Excellent service, very efficient quick turnaround time. Don't be too intimidated by the long line out the door. It moves fairly quickly because they are so efficient. Ambiance is nice albeit on the loud/noisy side as it is packed. Food was decently portioned. We ordered the chili cheese bread, house chaat, pau bhaji, chicken ruby aka butter chicken, house black daal, plain naan, garlic naan, and rice. Chili cheese bread had a nice spicy kick. Out of what we ordered, my faves were the pau bhaji (full of flavor and spice) and chicken ruby (also with great flavor and spice, but not too spicy). For those that like more heat and are use to spicy Indian food, this might not be spicy enough. They don't let u pick spice level here. The house chaat was decent. My least favorite was their house daal which i found to be rich/buttery tasting but bland and no heat at all. Would love to come back one day to try their special fish and other dishes on their extensive menu. Decently priced menu, at least similar to other Indian restaurants in the area we've tried.

Thank you for the question, if a seller is working on answering your bid, you cannot cancel it until their time is up and the bid is released back to you. The full amount of funds then go back into your AT account. Typically a seller has 48-72 hours to complete the bid.
