Be careful...
Very neglected place, it certainly doesn't give you an idea of cleanliness. Pizza not bad but.... The clerk takes my order, I ask for 1 slice of pizza and a drink. I pay around 11 usd..it seems expensive but you know, N.Y. is expensive.. After 5 minutes he brings me 2 pieces of pizza. I was hungry, I didn't object but he couldn't have misunderstood. While I'm eating, a customer like me arrives and orders one piece... she serves him 2 and when he points it out he says he misunderstood. Well…for the same thing to happen in less than 10 minutes makes me think it's their modus operandi. They pretend not to understand... Extremely disappointed by this incorrect way of doing things... down to earth... I wouldn't go back
Be the first to ReplyAlways the best
Never does this establishment disappoint! Always the number 1 pizza in NY, thin dough, excellent fresh ingredients and one of a kind taste!! No other pizza for us!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent choice!!!
Excellent pizza, friendly staff, fair prices!!! We came in by chance and the choice couldn't have been better... if you're around the Brooklyn area and want to eat a good pizza you can't help but stop.
Be the first to ReplyVery good but not the very best it’s used to be years ago.
I had a high expectation coming here today. I have eaten pizza here before in its hey days when Dominic was around. Since he is gone, the pizza here is made by his kids and his family but it’s not the same. It’s better than a regular pizza, but it’s not the very best as it used to be. They only have two types here: thick crust Sicilian and a regular thin crust Marinara with an opportunity to add multiple toppings like mushrooms, pepperoni etc. Worth the visit but if you are looking for the very best in NYC, this place is not. You have to look at Julianna’s and Patsy’s and John Pizza in Little Italy and others. Good luck.
Be the first to ReplyBest Pizza in NYC
We at at 4 different pizza places that were top rated from Trip Advisor and Di Fara's was top dog followed by a close second with Joe's. We went to the location on the Manhattan side so I can't speak for the Brooklyn location, but the pizza was excellent. Staff was friendly, and for lunch we were in and out (which didn't happen much at the restaurants we were going to during our trip). If you are in downtown Manhattan visiting Wall Street, 9/11, or the Statue of Liberty definitely give it a shot Worth the visit!

Modern building, comfy outside seating. Staff is friendly. Pizza, well it was NY pizza. Still haven’t found the WOW pizza yet
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed with Lofty Expectations
I had lofty expectations expectations. I wanted to eat here for around 10 years, it's out of the way location, and my infrequent trips to NYC made the legend grow. It's a good pizza, and if I lived in the area there's a good chance it would be my everyday pizza. It's popularity is unquestioned and my review will ultimately make no difference(and I celebrate that to a certain degree). If you happen to be in the area, you'd be a fool not to stop by. But I'd advise against making a pilgrimage there as I did. I ordered the regular pie which is essentially a cheese pizza with basil. It's good. However I had some issues with texture. The center was very soggy, something my favorite NYC pizzerias don't do(like Joe's or L&B). On one of the slices there was also a huge chunk of tomato(minor offense but you have to remember this was essentially on my foodie bucket list). Also there was an abnormal amount of flour residue on the bottom of the pie. The crust was not desirable and fell in the pizza bone category, discarded without thought. The service was fantastic, I wish I could've gone inside(closed COVID) and I wish the "boss" was there. Also, they serve Pepsi(meh).

Went to this restaurant following good review in newspaper. What a bunch of crock. Terrible tasting pizza. Even chain pizzerias taste better. Also what's with the prices? A "regular" pizza for $30? Are we fricking kidding? Stay away!
Be the first to ReplyPandemic Pizza
Been here a few time’s before the pandemic and then again in mid-2020 during the height of the pandemic. Before the pandemic there were long lines because of One Bite Reviews. Things slowed down a bit during the pandemic, no lines. Always great pizza.
Be the first to ReplyPaper Pizza
If you enjoy eating paper you will love this pizza house. DiFara has new owners who are using cheap cheese, olive oil and stale crust. Pizza sold for dollar at other locations taste great compared to Di Fara five dollars a slice. STAY AWAY I wasted 34 dollars for a whole pie.

Cardboard Pizza.
No flavour.
Bad crust.
Bad sauce.
Other than that it’s just GREAT.
Who rates these places?
Hate to tell you...but even Little Caesar’s is better. Even Domino’s.
I should have known not to trust a bunch of New Yorkers about lousy pizza.
What a waste of money!!!
Maybe you could recommend a frozen pizza from Publix or Walmart?
National Online Order Review
We used to live in the greater NYC area and loved pizza almost everywhere. Now that we live out of the region we have ordered pizzas 3 times online, trying to find one we liked. I would say Di Fara was the best of the three but still pretty terrible and not anything like freshly baked pizza. The pie is small and very expensive. We would deal with the expense if it was any good but it truly wasn't. The crust was like cardboard and there was little flavor overall. Disappointing!!
Be the first to ReplyFiancés favorite pizzeria
Fiancés favorite pizzeria in NYC and rightfully so. A pie with peppers and mushroom turned me too and I am not a pizza connoisseur!!! The balanced sauce and the perfect amount of cheese topped with a drizzle of olive oil makes this just delicious. For the location, it is pricey. A regular pie cost $30 and any additional toppings have a surcharge. They now have a stall at the food hall in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. If you can't make it to the original location, you can check out the spot in Williamsburg.
Be the first to ReplyI never knew pizza could be this enjoyable.
I can never have pizza from anywhere else, and I don't live in NYC.
This was my first pizza in NYC. I found out about it from youtube and since Best Pizza and Lucali's both love Di Fara's, I made it a priority.
We got a square with pepperoni and a regular fresh out of the oven. The crust was so crispy, cheese blistered with a gorgeous pull, tomato sauce was sharp.
Really famous, but worth it?
We hard a lot about this place, about the old man still preparing the pizza the same way he did years ago and so on. The place is so crowded that you'll have to wait for about 30 minutes at least to get served, but is it worth it? Honestly speaking, this pizzeria might be iconic from an historical point of view, but the pizza itself is not special at all (from an Italian point of view, at least). I wouldn't wait that much for this result, would rather opt for one of the really good other pizza places we reviewed before.
Be the first to ReplyVisit the old master while you can, he's not getting any younger. Its worth the trip.
Dominic is the best pizza maker in New York City and possibly the world. I grew up in the neighborhood when you were able to walk right in and the first thing you did was look over the counter and see if there were any square slices. He was a Brooklyn secret and now he's became a world treasure which means don't expect to be able to walk in and get slices as I did in my youth. You can go on Saturday and find a lot of parking because the orthodox neighborhood is closed for Shabbos and Dominic's is the only store open on what is an extremely busy shopping district six days a week. While you will find parking, you will also find crowds of people on an often two hour line taking pizza home to the suburbs and beyond. He makes the best and most original Sicilian pizza where he bakes the dough fresh and then bakes it a second time with different fresh cheeses and home made sauce. The slice is not as thick as you are used to in the everyday NYC pizzeria, its about half that with thick crunchy crust and the taste of olive oil which he ladles onto the pie. Real special and unique. The regular pie is sublime and its easier to get because it takes less time to make than the Sicilian and its amazing in its own right. Order ahead if you can. But don't let the lines and the ride to Avenue J stop you from making the pilgrimage so many have made before you.
