When you walk in your greeted by this large beautiful room with a respectful amount of space for you and your guest. Your given a baby pillow chair to hold your Birkin's or Kelly's. I love this place we only come for special occasions it's really close to the house and the food and service is always excellent. We always recommend going with the staffs choice if you don't know what to get as they helped with tons our dish choices and nailed it. Promise to be coming back soon. I also recommend ending with a cheese plate and a bottle of Sancerre .

We had an amazing dinner at Daniel's! My husband and I decide to have a date night without our kiddo and was very excited to find this French place. As soon as we entered, they helped us with the coat check and took us to our table. All the staffs are very friendly and their service was top notch. We ordered 7 course menu and every dish was unique and also filling towards the end. We highly recommend this place and will definitely come back soon.

This dinner was an anniversary and Valentine dinner with my partner so naturally, we were excited. I also heard it is a 2 Michelin star restaurant thus I had certain expectation standard for service. I want to preface that I don't want to sound pretentious or trying to cause any issues.. that is not my intention. Just an honest review.I'll start off with the positive highlights-The cocktail drinks were delicious. Perfectly balanced-The red snapper dish was phenomenal, I never had a white fish be that flavorful and the other flavors elevated that dish-The happy anniversary dessert at the end was a sweet gesture, I appreciated that! The following are my negatives. I am disappointed to say that it did not meet my expectations and it was rather quite a let down overall. My first observation was the lack of professionalism. Our server gave us our menu and immediately almost walked away; I had to stop and ask him for a short description of what was on the menu. This is our first time here.. this is not a casual drive-through meal. I felt like I shouldn't have to stop the server to describe about Daniel. They should welcome us and let us know what Daniel is all about. It also felt slightly unorganized. We had multiple different servers try to get us our cocktail drinks after we already ordered.. not a big deal but something to note. I understand it might have been a busy night.Lastly, the most important part of the review. Please read this carefully and throughly. This is a critical mistake and potentially a dangerous one. On my reservation note, I wrote my allergic restriction was buckwheat!! We were served bread with butter. I took a small bite and immediately had a reaction (itchy throat and body itching). I knew something was wrong and asked the server what the bread was made out of. No surprise, it was made of buckwheat. THIS IS CRITICAL AND COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. Thank goodness I only took a small bite and dealt with the small reaction. I explicitly put down on my reservation note that I was allergic to buckwheat. What did the server do? Offer gluten free bread instead.. My throat was itching and not even an offer for something to soothe the throat. NOTHING was offered, at least an apology would have been considerate. I was extremely upset and it definitely ruined the experience. My partner kept insisting to try and enjoy the special night but this is unacceptable. If the manager or upper management is reading this, I would like to speak about this further. For such an expensive dinner, we were let down.Thank you
Be the first to ReplyThis is a classic NYC Michelin star restaurant.
Yet, it never feels pretentious or snobbish like others that try to be more than. The greeter was friendly and polite and seated is in the, ain dining room. The setting of the restaurant is classic modern, beautifully decorated. One thing you'll immediately notice is its quiet enough to have a conversation across the table without screaming, something you end up doing in most places today. The menu is unique, and tries to be on the edge of eating fashion. Still, it was mostly disappointing. The taste was mostly familiar, nothing that screamed wow of a top NYC place. And this is where it goes down hill. Our servers gave a detailed presentation of everything we were about to eat. However, the language barrier was so thick we could not understand most of what was described and kept asking "would you say that again?". At first it was not a big deal, but at some point you stop asking, you get more upset the presentation of a very expensive meal is incomplete, and it leaves you with an experience questioning why management would place a customer facing employee in a star role, but would ignore the lack of language skills. It just doesn't make any sense.

Definitely the place to be for a REAL French haute cuisine experience Everything is on point ,the service , the quality of the food , the subtlety of the flavors, the way food is presented... the wine list ....
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, service and ambiance.
Definitely planning to go again in the near future.
Be the first to ReplyI don't believe the low ratings for this restaurant at all.
Yes it is expensive and yes it is a high end fine dining restaurant. We had a server named Allen that Ho was superb. We were treated with respect and hospitality from the moment we entered and gave them our coats. Dinner was superb!! I'm only sorry that we had a!N 8 o'clock curtain which meant we couldn't do the seven course tasting menu. I have eaten here many times over the years and never been disappointed. As a French trained chef myself I couldn't have been happier. We were celebrating my daughters birthday. We tried to see if we could do the 7 course but we're correctly advised they it would be rushed. Instead we did the four course and added a shared first course as well as an add on upgrade of a risotto. We started with cold foie gras terrine which was both delicious and beautifully presented. My daughter had the squash veloute with duck ballotin and crispy egg roll. Then we shared the fluke and fennel dish with grapefruit that again was again gorgeous to look at and refreshingly light. I had a glass of champagne and my daughter had a lemon drop martini which was wonderful. The soup was hot and comforting as well as delicious and just what she wanted on a cold night when we had walked a bit. This was followed by a hot foie gras for me which was incredible. Perfectly cooked and accompanied by a vodka duck reduction done tableside. Melt in your mouth and could have eaten two of them!!! Then she had a duo f lamb chop and lamb loin and I had the venison topped with foie gras. Again beautifully presented and delicious. It was particularly wonderful that Allen truly understood every dish and explained them perfectly. For dessert got the passion fruit vacherin which was nice and dark and cold and melt in your mouth and not too large. My daughter had the Carmel cheesecake and a lovely Meyer lemon meringue tart for her birthday. This was followed by chocolates and mini madeleines. We asked for a box for the Madeleines because by then we were absolutely stuffed. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. If you are looked for a relaxed environment and don't like 2Michelin started service and food then this is NOT for you. It was also appropriately priced. Much to our surprise we were comped my champagne and a lemon drop as well as the fluke dish.l as well as the meter lemon dessert which was served with a candle and Happy Birthday Jessica written on the plate in Chocolate. This was NOT expected but very much appreciated. I highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to eating there again in the future hopefully soon.

We celebrated a friend' s 40th birthday. Daniel was perfect.

It's a 2 Michelin star restaurant so not sure how much more I can add! Had the pleasure of dining here tonight. Everything from service to presentation was impeccable. They have a great 7 course tasting menu or a 4 course pri-fixed. All the food was beautiful and delicious. I was happy they had a completely separate vegetarian menu. This is definitely an NYC bucketlist item.
Be the first to ReplyDaniel was probably the best meal and service I've ever had
Daniel was probably the best meal and service I've ever had at any restaurant, all the staff was extremely nice, friendly & helpful with questions about the menu, We were in a rush to get to a broadway show, so I didn't quite get the full 2-3 hour experience but everything we tasted so amazing! If I get the chance I would definitely come here at least 1 more time for a longer experience with more courses of daniels delicious spectacular food!
Be the first to ReplyAn experience for the books.
How it works:Choice of 4 or a pre planned 7 tasting course. My date and I just decided to go with the 7 to get the full experience. Portions are small but by the end you are stuffed. Dessert comes out as trio you share. All the dishes were beautiful and really tasty. I was only disappointed with the one cod dish. While beautifully presented they missed the mark with the blood orange sauce which was a shame. The whole meal took us around 4 hours to complete. So ensure you are in good company when you embark on the journey.

Two Michelin Stars that's it. That's the review. I loved it.
Be the first to ReplyI came here on a special occasion.
I definitely enjoyed every single dish I had. Favorite ones are Flake and Foie Gras which imo very much reflect chef's creativity and aesthetic. We sat on the table in the middle of the main dining room. Atmosphere was great. One of the two stars restaurants I will definitely come back.

My wife and I try to go someplace amazing for our anniversary and this place did not disappoint! This is in the top 2 of all time along with Per Se and beats out places like 11 Madison (pre-vegetarian), Le Bernadin and many others. We did the tasting menu, no wine pairing, just champagne and pinot. Highlights were the foie gras, fluke, scallops and venison. However, the wreath shaped bread with French butter was so good! I had to get a refill which made it almost impossible for me to finish all the courses. Almost. I somehow managed to finish everything and each dish was awesome! There were two dessert choices and so we were able to have both. But then they also gave us a complimentary anniversary blood Orange dessert that was beautiful! And there were additional desserts as well as a take home mini cake in a bag that was also delicious. WhT a wonderful experience!! We have never repeated a restaurant before but we may need to make an exception for Daniel.
Be the first to ReplyO Daniel, it is good to be back.
I used to come every month or two back in the day when work allowed. With the kids and moving to the burbs, and the new wave of international chef menus all over the place, it took almost 10 years to come back. This was the first restaurant I thought of when my daughter requested a "fancy French restaurant" for her birthday.*It DID NOT disappoint. We opted for the 4-course because it allowed us more opportunity to taste the menu for our family of 4.My son said it was the best escargots ever, and this was despite our last visit to Paris and the Normandy coast. Same for the foie in the second course (NOT the first, which is a terrine). Our server did the flambé tableside, so it was a super considerate treat for my kids.Scallops, sea bass, venison, and rabbit were excellent interpretations and did a great interplay of flavors. I thought it was funny for our server to ask my daughter how to serve her venison (she was like " shouldn't it always be medium-rare?" to me). We both thought it would be criminal otherwise. The only negative was the fluke; it is such a light mild fish in general. It tasted best when taken as a mouthful combo with the radish/fern/etc, but mine fell off the fork so then...it was just bland by itself. A stronger (fatty) rich fish will add more pizazz to this course. Also, that pork rib-eye was monster-size and looked so out of place there. The dessert, as always, was sublime. My kids actually don't eat much sweets but I had to stop them from licking their plate. I think the matcha tropezienne and vacherin were just incredibly creative and unexpected. Those mini-Madeleines were wolfed down faster than mortal breathing. The canelé suffered a tiny burn; but was still very moist and rich inside. Servers were very insightful. They were able to immediately give my kids the correct pointers about their drinks and menu selections without being pushy. The only things my kids didn't like were indeed the items they pointed out were a "little different." Can't wait to go back.
Be the first to ReplyThis has to be the best meal I've ever had.
Fine dining and French cuisine at its best . And I was served my food like I was the queen of the world... must must must try if you're looking for a fine dine set course menu. The tasting menu was as good as it loooked or probably better... and I would totally recommend the wine pairingThe lemon tart is absolute sorcery

Finally got to knock this one off the list, I have been wanting to eat here for many years. Everything was superb! I was hoping they had a tasting menu which surprisingly they did not so I just ordered several things kind of making my own. I started with some iberico ham which I have always wanted to try and it was very light and delicate. Then went with a salad and for the mains I chose the duck breast. It was all what you would expect a 2 Michelin star place to be perfectly delicious and meticulously beautiful plates. Would love to go back for another round.

Exceptional restaurant with outstanding food, service, and a magnificent dining room. Absolutely worthy of the highest Michelin Guide rating it has historically held. Came to celebrate a birthday and had ordered a special dessert in advance. The general manager was extremely gracious and accommodating for the request. Arguably, the finest restaurant in NYC.

No valet parking :(There are two parking garages nearby and it's about $65.Restaurant is beautiful. I loved that we got to sit next to each other on a comfortable couch like seat. Loved the little stool for my bag.Checked our coat in and was seated.Service was amazing! Food was good. I was so full.White cosmo- soooo good! Light and refreshing and beautifulDirty martini- this is the best I've tried. My bf has been here and he always tells me how Daniels is his fav restaurant and how they make the best dirty martinis. Now I know. We ended up ordering another one before leaving cus it was so goodPimms cup- a little on the sweeter side but deliciousEspresso- so goodAmerican coffee- also really goodWe did the 4 course pre fixe menu. We wanted to try the 7 but didn't think we could both finish it. Good thing we didn't.The amuse bouche was so good. I think it was like potato fennel with anise cracker, potato fennel soup, and some other thing. The first two was our favorite from the threeBread- so pretty! Came out hot and the salted butter was so good too. Apparently this shape keeps the bread warmer..?We got diff things so we could try more...First course:Foie gras- goodCauliflower soup with some seafood and caviar- soup was soooo yummy. Dipped some bread in it as well :)Second course:Sea bass: goodArtic char: really similar to salmon in the way it looks and tasted.Main:Pork ribeye: good but I think we expected moreBison: there's an additional charge but def worth it. Meat is lean and everything was good.Dessert:Hazelnut dessert: decadentMatcha kiwi dessert: light and not a strong matcha flavor. I wouldn't mind if the matcha was stronger. I really liked the kiwi and the kiwi jam or something on the plateMadeleine: the best I've had! Came out hot and sooooo good. And it was small and cuteChocolate bonbon:We got one of each...Dark chocolate with passion fruit, dulce de leche and hibiscus, yuzu, milk chocolate and chicory.. idk but it was all really good. We both liked the dark chocolate the best with the passion fruit. I really enjoyed all 4 differentlyTake home:Canele: ate this with my sisters and we enjoyed it :)I had a great experience and food was good. Service was excellent! I loved all the recommendations from our waiter. We ended up liking my dishes that she recommended :) I don't think there were things that made me go wow. When I think about what I ate and how much we spent idk if it's worth it but the experience is what makes it worth it I guess. I've been to a few Michelin star restaurants and I think I always expect more but I think it's cus I expect things to be more innovative and diff and it's not always like that. I'm clearly not an expert. Not sure if it was worth it but it was worth it because I got to enjoy a nice dinner and celebrate a special occasion and Daniels really helped us celebrate our anniversary well which I forgot to mention. They gave us a blood orange chocolate dessert which was also really good. I think I tasted grapefruit too but not sure

Went to daniel to celebrate a birthday and to try a michelin star restaurant in the city of new york. There is no questions on the service in any michelin star restaurants but the creativity and taste make a difference. We tried the tasting menu, my favorite dishes were the flute, the bison and the bread with butter was to die for. The foie gras and venison were ok, i had better in other restaurants. Daniel restaurant is a beautiful experience and a foodie destination
