Crown Block Dallas Reviews from The Last Year
service was good, perhaps too overbearing.
wait staff are constantly hovering and filling waters the second you take a sip so it feels slightly suffocating, however that does mean they are being very attentive. for the price you are paying for the view as the food is 3/5. it was either over or under seasoned and all came out lukewarm. we paid $1700 for a party of 10 and left feeling hungry.
Went here for my boyfriend's birthday.
To start off, make sure to park Valet if you want them to validate it. My mistake was to not ask and we ended up parking at the Reunion tower parking which was $10. Going up the elevator to the restaurant had such an amazing view. Make sure to videotape it while going up. He ordered the Filet mignon which was very tender and juicy. And paired with the red onion marmalade was perfect. I ordered the green circle chicken which was pretty good. The sides we got were the mashed potatoes which was very creamy, if you're into that. The triple cooked fries wasn't all that great. It just tasted like over fried fries and was very few for $16. And the Mac & cheese waffle had the cooked cheese taste, which was interesting to eat. They also sent over a birthday plate with 2 cookies, 2 cake pops and a sparkler. Our waiter Jake was also very friendly. And the vibe when we walked in, to the view of Dallas was worth the experience. Definitely a place to visit for a fun, fancy night in the city!!
Food, and atmosphere was GREAT. Payment experience was AWFUL
My boyfriend and I had a reservation and a wonderful experience with the food, and our server, Randy was wonderful. Up until it was time to pay, as my boyfriend paid our sever his tip, as we are somewhat unaccustomed to fine dining, he left a tip that seemed reasonable. However, shortly after our server picked up the check, we were ridiculed by the manager as well as the server as they felt the tip was too small. When we asked the server to make the adjustment….. we were met with an incredibly displeasing demeanor from him, he even mentioned the small tip actually cost him money. The payment experience really ruined the entire excitement of the dining experience. The food was wonderful and the atmosphere was beautiful. But we will not be returning to dine again. I expect a welcoming and understanding environment no matter the circumstances in fine dining. The experience we received was unacceptable,
From out of town.
Friends recommended this restaurant, so we drive from 40 minutes away to go to this restaurant only to be denied because of dress code. I will admit he had shorts on but dior shorts and Dior designer T shirt. With Dior shoes... i just wish the lady who called to confirm my reservation would have told us about the dress code.very disappointed.
Food and service were fantastic.
A bit pricey but totally worth it. Ambiance/view were absolutely incredible.
Food was delicious.
Service was good, not high end 5 star, more playful and personal and fun. Ambiance was incredible. But it still didn't mount to *FIIIIVE HUNDREDDDDD DOLLARRRSSSS!!!* for only two people. Would be 5 stars if bill was $300ish for two people and if we ordered extras but check out that receipt. That's crazy.
On Saturday, June 22nd, our party of 6 dined at Crown Block.
When reservations were made, they required a $750.00 deposit to be used toward our food and drink bill. I have never had to do this at any fine dining restaurant. Being that it was for three anniversaries, we all decided to go. When we arrived, the valet was nice, and the reservation desk was great. Upon going upstairs to the restaurant, we were promptly seated. Our waiter tried to be discreet to remind the person that made the reservations of the $750.00 requirement. The waiter then asked about any food allergies or restrictions. One of the people in the group had a shellfish allergy. The waiter, although seemed particularly good, proceeded to be a little snarky about the allergy. We ordered an appetizer, the Farmers Market stand. It was mediocre at best. We then ordered our main course. One steak was ordered medium rare, but was served as medium. Not wanting to make an issue, it was not sent back (the waiter did say he would take it back). In addition to the entrees, we ordered mashed potatoes, asparagus, and carrots. Very unimpressive. We also ordered several cocktails, beer, and two bottles of wine. We did order dessert, and this was the most disappointing of all! The strawberry shortcake lacked many strawberries, the huckleberry & blueberry (the waiter called it a pie) was actually more of a tart and was over baked, the crème brulee donut holes while impressive, was more like cream filled donut holes, no crème brulee. We were "gifted" some cake pops and chocolate chip cookies - neither tasted very good. The most disappointing experience was that the restaurant no longer rotates. While some in our party knew this, others did not. For a restaurant built on the history of rotating it was very disappointing. The whole experience was over $1200. For this amount of money, I would recommend Al Biernat's, Perry's Steakhouse, Morton's, Bob's Steak and Chophouse, or any other fine dining restaurant in Dallas. Needless to say, with so many other options at great restaurants, we will not be back.
View was the best thing about this place.
We had reservations for 6 people. At the time the reservations were made we were told there was a minimum purchase of $750. This should have been a HUGE WARNING! After being seated the waiter made sure we were aware of this policy. The food was subpar at best. We chose the Farmhouse Market Stand for the table. It was served on a raised stand that was hard to pass around the table and the humus and onion dip was enough for two people. I had the Caesar salad which was just ok. The polenta croutons were soft and gross. My husband had the wedge salad. He asked if he could change the blue cheese dressing to ranch. They don't have ranch dressing they only have wasabi ranch. They didn't even have a plain vinaigrette. The entrees had a great selection and the waiter suggested the sides for the table, we had the mashed potatoes, which were too salty. the asparagus, which was good and the carrots that were burnt. Steaks were cooked nicely, although one person requested medium rare and hers came out medium. The waiter suggested she cut into the middle of her steak which she did but it was still more on the medium side. The scallops were good but the lobster tail was over cooked and extremely hard to get out of the shell. The desserts were awful. The strawberry shortcake was made with a biscuit that was so had it was inedible and it came with 3 strawberries. The Huckleberry pie was actually a tart and it was overcooked. The crème brûlée bites were hard and very little filling. The best part of this dessert was the foot tall cotton candy, which could be cut down to 6 inches. Our waiter, Ethan was attentive and made some great suggestions. He made sure that we knew that the tip was automatic, but that if we wanted to decrease it or increase it we could. This was an anniversary dinner for all of us so we expected to pay more than "normal, but the entire bill was $1200. I've been to several of the well known steak restaurants and had better food at less cost. Those was a huge disappointment!

The food was amazing! I brought my mom for dinner and she loved every second of it! From the welcoming hostess to the outstanding service, my favorite part had to be the desserts. Not to mention the breathtaking view .

Came in for my prom with my friends, service was excellent, the hosts were very welcoming. The view was absolutely incredible, you could see the entire city. The service was almost better than the view. The food was delicious. I would totally recommend this place to go out on a date night or with friends.
The ambiance of this restaurant is absolutely incredible.
The food is outstanding and the service is amazing. I would recommend coming here when visiting Dallas or even just date night.
Great place. Do not miss while in town.
Don’t miss this if you are at the HyattRegency Dallas. I was at the hotel and I decided to check out the Crown Block bar at the Reunion Tower. Although I thought it would be difficult, I found a seat at the bar. The bartenders were friendly. The honey mescal cocktail was excellent as well as the expresso martinis. The coconut curry mussels and the blue crab cake were A plus. I wish I knew sooner as I was looking for a burger and this was not an option for lunch via room hotel room service. The burger was amazing. So if you are looking for a burger and great food I would highly suggest this restaurant. I’m from Boston and the Seafood tower looked amazing.
Five Stars in Every Way!
The view, the ambience, the service, the food, the entire experience was "on" the night we went. The place is lovely and stylish, and we saw the sun set from our table. I didn't realize you could see the Fort Worth skyline from there-- so cool. The evening started with a complimentary drink upon arrival. My margarita, at the table, was sufficiently strong and very satisfying. We shared the yellowtail crudo, which was great, the Caesar salad, good. My steak was delicious and I had a glass of the Rioja with it and the wine was excellent and reasonably priced at $15 for a good pour. Basque cheesecake for the table was fantastic. Onion rings were not to our liking and we mentioned it to our server, who removed them from the bill. Overall an evening we will remember, and we will return for more. Only one comment: we were 5 people squeezed into a table more suitable for 4. Shout out to our server, Kristin, who was fantastic.
Worth the Experience
What an exquisite experience! The service was impeccable, and the food was simply divine. I was thoroughly enchanted by the enchanting ambiance, the melodious music, and the captivating visuals of Dallas. Bravo to Randy and the bar tender for delivering great recommendations. Kiss the chef!
Bad Experience
Overpriced, pretenious...with overly expensive food. Salmon was dry, clearly overcooked...veggies were okay but nothing special. Desserts best part of meal. The fact that dress code not enforced means a less than glamorous setting, when seated next to a guy with shorts and a tee shirt like top. Waiter was friendly and efficient, but could not make up for an overall disappointing evening...frankly not a good place to celebrate my wife's birthday with friends...especially when there is a minimum charged per person for groups of six or more, plus a very high mandatory tip. Yikes...won't be back and already posted on community boards for people to avoid this place.
WORST
Worst experience for just reservation process. I reserved a table for my wife birthday. all ok until my wife and kid did not feel well and I need to cancel. called the number they said to cancel in APPs or website. Logged in. Website said to call their number if I like to cancel. I called the number and been waiting for almost 1hr. no one answered. WTF? Don't even consider this restaurant or the open table reservation. one of the WORST.
Taylor is the worst person to ever give an manager position too she verbally and physically assaults the guest.
TERRIBLE! I was denied entry because the host who gives out the free drinks before you get on the elevator lied and said I smell like weed neither the concierge are security smelled it, in fact I have written statements from them both stating there’s no smell on me, Well the manager Taylor was called down she at first said she did smell weed smoke on me and that it was protocol to not let me in, after the security and concierge wouldn’t lie with or for the manager Taylor l she comes back stating she doesn’t smell anything, and is there anything she could do to accommodate me I told her no I would like contact cards for the general manager and written statements from both the security and concierge the manager Ms Taylor snatches the tablet away from me so I couldn’t obtain my written statements and she stormed off without even telling me who she was I didn’t even know her name was Taylor until I spoke to the general manager. I was discriminated against embarrassed and left humiliated in the lobby because of an lie told on me by the host who was only doing what Taylor told her and the security to do after speaking with upper management I’ve discovered that smelling guest and not allowing them entry because of an smell “she lied” about is not even part of the protocol, so my night was sabotage because of an lie that was backed by the manager on duty, things where snatched from my hands by manager Taylor, Taylor was doing all she could to start an verbal argument with me so she could have me removed instead of dealing with the problem she caused with her made up house rules. General manager Ashley is awesome but Taylor needs to go there’s no excuse for an manager creating rules as she go to get an situation she started to work in her favor. My very first visit to the Crown Block was an disaster I wouldn’t recommend this place to no one until manager Taylor is removed. She is not mentally mature enough for that position she’s snatching things from the guest hands snaking her lips and rolling her eyes at people because she’s in the wrong she’s using her title to sabotage who ever night she chooses. I will not be back Taylor has ruined my whole take on the reunion tower and the Crown Block restaurant my woman left that place in tears!! Taylor sabotaged my wife’s Birthday celebration 💔
Terrible
I didn't like it at all won't be back. The service was bad. They need to have better chocolate and more option on the chocolate you could choose from. I see why they say no refunds waste of money.
Over rated
It’s overrated. The food was good but service was sub par. We went for New Year’s Eve, it was 175 per person . My 12 year was told he had to pay that. He didn’t eat that. I had to ask for water 4 times. You shouldn’t have to. We were served food had no silverware. We were told very strictly only had table for a certain time but got there early - no drink for a child but then were there for almost three hours! Then was spoken to very rudely by TAYLOR that I could not bring my wine glass (1/4 glass) back down in elevator even though we had drunk our champagne in elevator up! She was adamant like I was going to steal a glass from them after spending almost $2000 there? Really. Then the manger came up and up said yes it didn’t matter- but TAYLOr the hostess rude stood over me making a line for elevator causing a scene! Just to go back down I said well we just got kicked out of our table because they said kitchen was slow… then she wouldn’t shut up! Such a bad ending to our evening which we already had bad service. Just don’t waste your time and money here! Especially if Taylor is working! Other tables next to us come and went and we were still there so it wasn’t kitchen…,,
