If you're a local or if you're a visitor to Lisbon and you
If you're a local or if you're a visitor to Lisbon and you haven't been to Crisfama, you absolutely must visit! It's a family owned and run small business restaurant that dishes out superb food! The host is the husband, Fernando and the cook is his wife Terese. The service is 100% top notch. By far, this restaurant is my partners and my favourite in Lisbon, with home cooked Portuguese meals and desserts. We ordered the vegetable soup which was hearty and delicious, the perfect way to start our meal. For our mains we shared the grilled sea bass and the mixed meat skewer. Both dishes were soooooo good! The fish was perfectly seasoned and grilled with steamed veggies and fried potatoes. The mixed meat (steak and chicken) skewers were mouth watering and delectable and came with a side of fries and salad. Both meals were very generous portions. I can't stress this enough, the host is amazing! He's very nice and jovial, and super attentive. The cook (his wife), is an excellent cook, which he will attest to. But I can definitely back him up on that, the food was just amazing! For dessert, we had a chocolate and orange layered cake. This dessert was delicious. Just the right amount of chocolate to orange flavour and it was smooth, rich, and surprisingly not too overly sweet. If we are ever back in Lisbon, Crisfama is the first place we would stop. I recommend that you make a reservation if you so plan to make it there, it can get fairly busy on certain days and the restaurant isn't big. Good things definitely come is smaller packages!

Crisfama is a small hidden gem which won't catch your eye from the outside, but when the stray cats hang out here waiting for some leftover fish you know it's going to be great. The inside is small and cozy (seats 20) and feels like you're dining in someone's home. The owner waits the tables while his wife cooks the meals, and the charm of this place is immaculate. They focus on fresh in-season fish and use high quality ingredients to make this a simple yet delicious meal. We started off with some bread, olives, and clams - all excellent - and the clams were served in a wonderful broth which was perfect to dip our bread in. The green wine was great, not too sweet and with a clean finish. For mains, we had sea bass filet and sea bream (bone-in) which were great portions with some vegetables on the side. Again the sauce was simple, but high quality ingredients took this dish a long way. Finally for dessert we had some orange chocolate cake (very good) and the best creme caramel I've ever had. Overall, I would say this was an excellent dinner especially if you love seafood - the fish was incredibly fresh and well prepared, and everything was done perfectly. The owner also adds to the charm of the place with his jokes and friendliness - we both admitted our love for chess and he was kind enough to indulge me in a game! Looking forward to the rematch :)

A hole in the wall. We called in advance to make a reservation because the restaurant is incredibly small and cozy.

I think this is a tourist edition of going where everyone else is going. While there we encountered multiple others who ventured there based on ratings from various advisor systems. I DON'T get the hype of this place at all. It was awkward and not very inviting. I personally didn't find the place an enjoyable space, it was tight and bland. The food and service was "meh" at best. During my 5 days in Lisbon I found many other places that were far better spaces, better food, better value, etc.. ย This is over rated IMO.

GO NOW! This tiny restaurant seats twenty so reservations are a must. The fish is fresh daily. I've been coking professionally for over 35 years and know what to look for. The husband works the dining room while his wife, mans (giggle) the stoves, Everything was cooked perfectly. The service was concerned and caring that everything was to our liking. So far the best meal we've had in Lisbon.

Crisfama was an extremely pleasant experience for us! We found this place on our way from the National Tile museum to Feira da Ladra. It's a small restaurant that is on one of the side streets and can be easily missed! We found Crisfama through their very good Tripadvisor reviews. The owner was very kind when we first walked in and extremely accommodating when we asked about our allergies. I saw some Tripadvisor signs on the wall and mentioned to the owner and he was very humble about it. I had ordered the Portuguese steak and my wife had the veal. The food was definitely above average, but I wouldn't say it was the best meal we had on our Europe trip. The ambiance and hospitality definitely enhanced the experience. We asked the owner about the name of the restaurant and he said he named it after their daughter, Cristina. The restaurant is located in the Alfama district, so he decided to combine the two to get Crisfama. Be sure to stop by for a meal if you are in the area!!

Crisfama was an excellent resturant! The fish was incredibly fresh and the vegetables that came with it were delicious. This was some of the best seafood I've had! The owner recommended the wreckfish which was absolutely perfectly cooked and I wish I had more. The overall experience at Crisfama is one to never forget. The owner and his wife are as friendly as they come and will ensure you have a great experience. It is not a very large restaurant so make reservations if possible, but do try and come here if you are in the Lisbon area!
Be the first to ReplyIf you are looking for a special treat, a cozy home-like
If you are looking for a special treat, a cozy home-like atmosphere you may recall from your own childhood when visiting your grandma, you found it. This small, off-main-tourist-track place is run by a couple that could be the family of your memories. Rustic furniture, simple interior, limited number of places, and the owner welcoming you at the door, while his wife is preparing her best meal. You will not be disappointed. I have not expected the healthy option and all the attention. Having arrived from far away, on my long journey back home with a brief stopover, I could not have wished for a better welcome to the city and country. All food was simple yet remarkably tasty. Well - except the dessert, a almond-chocolate cake made by the owners themselves, which literally melted in my mouth. And I don't even care for chocolate cakes that much. It was a revelation. The few companions using different languages. A Japanese couple from Brazil, some French. And Italians, who rarely find alternative to their favorite food when abroad seem to flock here. I am definitely going to show up their again some day. Highly recommended. I suggest to take a taxi (not an easy find), but afterwards, you can have a nice stroll through some
Be the first to ReplyThis is some of the best seafood I have ever had in my life.
The restaurant is very tiny- only about 5 tables. They take reservations so be sure to make one. The place is owned by a Portuguese couple and they have been there for about 15 years. They are incredibly sweet and kind and make great recommendations about what to order. I had the grouper and it was just simply amazing. The food is so simple and just yet so fresh and delicious. If you are in Lisboa you absolutely need to stop by this place for a meal. You will not regret it.
Be the first to ReplyThis is a restaurant located in a very random side street.
ย It is run by a family and the gentleman that served us was super friendly and funny. :)We ordered the octopus risotto dish along with the grilled grouper and dorada..everything was super delicious! :)Then seeing as we had seen so many reviews online about the homemade desserts, we settled on the chocolate version as he recommended it. it was very different to the usual chocolate cakes you eat...it was light but spongey with hints of orange bits...tasty. Def recommend a visit...just take an uber back out if you don't want to walk the cobbly streets of lisbon...that's what we did!
