On 2/23 my husband and I wanted to celebrate our 20 year old son birthday with a very nice dinner. One week before I called and spoke to a hostess and she said there were no reservations available for that day (a Wednesday) but we could come in and wait for a table because they will accommodate walk-ins when they can. I asked a good time to get there and she said they open the rooftop at 4 and if we get there we can wait and get a table. She had mentioned the rooftop bar for apps and cocktails but I'm not interested in that for this occasion. 2/23 we show up at 430 and the young lady behind the counter told us there will be no tables for walk ins and the only seating is rooftop. Ok... then she said dinner menu isn't available until 5pm but the rooftop has limited apps and cocktails. I mentioned to her that I spoke to someone last week and they never mentioned that to me but I wished they had. I was being VERY NICE just a little confused AND disappointed. She then said to me, "all of this information is also on our website." Ummmm... nope. You probably shouldn't say that to people who are planning on spending a couple hundred bucks for dinner. At that point my husband was pretty much over it but we didn't want to disappoint our son because he was looking forward to the wagyu steak. We ended up going up to the bar. Nice little set up for a different occasion. The sun was popping and it was a beautiful day but unfortunately we were all dressed for an indoor dining experience. There was a table by us having a great time laughing and drinking (as they should be!). The table was wobbly and uneven - and that's fine for apps and cocktails but not for a $400+ dinner. So we left. We didn't order anything and only had water on our table... we told the waitress thank you and had to leave. I was looking forward to the dining experience and having a VERY nice dinner to celebrate a birthday. Not one of the 3 hostesses said anything when we left. It was disappointing and we were too late to get a resy at any other decent place at that point. I blame this situation on miscommunication and misunderstanding. A simple "I'm sorry you were told incorrectly" or some politeness rather than acting like you are put out with this family trying to eat at your restaurant. Such a bummer. I spent a week looking at pictures of the food and planning all the deliciousness we would eat but I just left with a bad taste in my mouth for the vibe and pretentious attitude from the front desk. :(
