Fantastic Italian food.
Possibly the one of the best values in terms of quality and reasonable price.

Exceptional, neighborhood restaurant with great service and where you'll feel like you're at home. Nice wine collection and delicious dishes that include a unique Mac& cheese dish with truffles. Orecchiete dish was exceptional and must try the Tiramisu for dessert

Everything here was delicious! It is a very intimate restaurant. It seems like a really nice place to have a date night or a small girls night. The waitress was also really sweet and tentative to us especially since we were a larger party. All of us loved each dish that we got, including all of the appetizers and the dessert. The drinks were also really strong and tasted really delicious. I would come again if given the chance :)

I had gnocchi alla sorrentina, which was tasty: garlicky with a strong fresh tomato flavor from the sauce. However, the portions are tiny for the price. You would probably need more than one dish per person. Though the flavor is very good, the price is just too high to really justify coming back.
Be the first to ReplyVery small - classic NYC feel.
The food is AMAZING. Great flavors and really reminded me of my trips to the middle of Italy - like way off the tourist trap paths where you can get appropriate portions with great flavors. The service was outstanding too. Attentive without being intrusive. The wine was fine - small menu but tasted great. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant for an informal but great Italian meal.

We had reservations and waited about 5 minutes before we were seated. The space is super tight but gives a cozy feel. Without hesitation we jumped right into it . For appetizers started with the crab cakes and the mushroom bruschetta. Both dishes were very tasty, and delicious. For our main, the lobster risotto and the truffle gnocchi which was their signature dish was sooo delicious!....very rich and flavorful Everything was bursting with flavor. The wine was also fantastic .the server knew the menu well and was very attentive. Had an excellent time ! Will definitely revisit!

Traumatized from finding a live roach crawling around in my caesar salad ordered via delivery from here. First and last time ordering from here. Not sure how I will recover from this. Will spare pictures
Be the first to ReplyBetter than most pasta.
These dishes as takeout were better than half the sit down dine in pasta I've had in this city, if that alone doesn't deserve a high rating I don't know what does. The bolognese and the broccoli rabe n sausage orchiette were both stellar. I will definitely be in to experience the restaurant soon.
Be the first to ReplyWe had a reservation tonight through Open table.
Showed up ten minutes early and after waiting the restaurant informed us that they actually didn't have a table available for us outside like we reserved so we left to find a restaurant that could accommodate us. The restaurant then proceeded to label us a no show on Open Table even though our entire group was there talking to the staff and went to the restaurant across the street that they recommended since they had messed up. Incredibly disappointing that they would label us as a no show after it was their fault.

Really small cute spot with awesome servers! We enjoyed all of our food, the goat cheese and mango salad was a really pleasant surprise, we didn't know what to expect with it, but the flavors came together nicely. The only thing I felt was not perfect was the amount of truffle oil on the gnocchi. I know it's their signature dish and maybe I'm just sensitive to the truffle oil, but I felt like they could've gone a bit lighter on it. The cheesecake was really great as well!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food, terrible service.
Staff was rude and not attentive and we were the only ones in the restaurant. Good was delicious.

2 people made a reservation for birthday dinner with special order for cake, arrive 5 minutes late, and they tried seating us at the bar with barely enough space for 1 person. Screw this place. Too many great restaurants in nyc to bother with them.
Be the first to ReplyLet me preface this review by stating the reason I will
Let me preface this review by stating the reason I will never go back, is not because of the food. My friend and I ordered the lamb chops to start, which were cooked to perfection. For dinner I had the truffle gnocchi which was also amazing. The service however, was probably the worst service I've ever received in my life. We sat for a bit before the waiter even came by to see if we had any questions about the menu or if we wanted to place an order. By the time he did come over, we ordered both the appetizer and entrées. The waiter repeated back our appetizer to us to which we responded "yes". A short while after, we received an order of mussels. When we called the waiter over and explained we didn't order mussels, he replied "I asked you twice." We were so taken back by this response that we both looked at each other confused. We kindly explained we never ordered mussels - I would never considering I'm deathly allergic - to which he said "ok" in a snarky manner, and took the plate. We never saw our waiter again. For the rest of our dining experience the busboy and hostess served us, and when it came time for the check we watched him hand over the credit card machine to the waitress so we could pay for our food. Not one time did he come over and ask if we needed anything despite the fact our drinks were done and we clearly needed more water. To make matters worse, he had a table next to ours (it's a VERY intimate setting) to which he went by several times. The most atrocious service I've ever gotten in my life, which is shocking considering it's a Michelin star restaurant. Despite the fact the food was good, you couldn't pay me to go back.
Be the first to ReplyThe entire atmosphere here is a bit of a nightmare.
We attended on a night that was raining, and the space was so small to walk through that each customer and staff member who walked past pushed against us each way in wet clothing from the rain. We asked to move to the window which was even more cramped for table room and the server seemed flustered trying to fit our food in such a small area. One of the servers was using their phone as we asked to order a drink and didn't respond for a few minutes until done with their phone. Later we asked another staff member for water, who seemed a bit confused and another server came over and said bluntly "he won't understand you, what do you want?" which just felt a bit degrading to her coworker. The food was unmemorable in the light of how uncomfortable the space was.
Be the first to ReplyThe restaurant is small and very nice.
They have indoor and outdoor sitting. The menu is really good I highly recommend this place. Good service , good location , the food made my day. I took my friend here for her birthday and she likes this place as well. I will be going back for more. Another restaurant on my favorite list.

My friend took me here for the first time after I told him about my new love for gnocchi and boy did this place deliver. Though I forget exactly what I ordered for my appetizer but I do remember being satisfied. Excited to bring my girlfriend here for date night as the ambience is fitting for the occasion.
Be the first to ReplyPoor service and even worse food.
Atmosphere was good but did not make up for soggy overcooked and tasteless pasta
Be the first to ReplyCozy little spot on Bedford.
Tiny inside, but looks like they will probably keep the outdoor street dining that was constructed during Covid. Solid pasta place with reasonable prices for the area.

A small but cozy place, friendly waitresses and nice food except tiramisu. We especially love the bolognese sauce and the sauce for stewed calamari.
Be the first to ReplyRude/non existent service even when we were the only couple
Rude/non existent service even when we were the only couple in the restaurant (also a bad sign at 630 on a Sunday). At end of the meal, the waiter brought the bill over on an ipad, scrolled directly to the total/pay tab and then stood over me while I tipped. There were mistakes on the bill that I asked him to reverse and he told me they had no ability to reverse charges. He also spilled wine on our table while pouring with no apology. This is a tiny place with likely only 1 or 2 waiters at any time so don't think this was a one off that won't affect you. Also tried repeatedly clearing our plates when we weren't done. Never again. I've lived in the area for over 15 years fyi and am not some tourist. My wife also asked me to mention that when we asked for pepper, the waiter handed her a pepper shaker to grind it herself. Not once did any of the waiters come over to ask us how our food was. If you're going to drop $125 on Italian dinner do yourself a favor and go somewhere else to be treated with respect.
Be the first to ReplySmall, cozy spot that's better suited for smaller parties.
We were drawn to this place mostly for the prices (nothing on their standard menu is above $16), so we weren't shocked when the food ended up being mediocre at best. The service was pretty good, but because of the small space (both inside the restaurant and in their outdoor dining), the dining experience wasn't great. People kept bumping into our table, and trying to maneuver around the restaurant was a bit difficult. Also, be aware that if, like us, you're visiting Cotenna for the prices, the items on their specials menu are definitely pricier.

There was a mixup with our reservation last night, but thankfully they were still able to accommodate us in their outdoor street-eatery. It's worth noting that tables both inside and outside are quite close to one another - but that's New York!Nothing on the regular on the menu was more than $16! Things on the specials board didn't have prices; the Gnocchi Tartufo ended up being $24 but the creamy truffle sauce was delicious! My husband's Orecchiette with Sausage and Broccoli Rabe was also very good. Portion sizes are decent - we could've had a starter and / or dessert as well, but we were headed to an event with more food afterwards.

Nice cozy vibe inside and attentive staff but that's about it for this place. The food was bland and almost tasted like it was microwaved from the frozen isle? I got the pesto pasta and my girlfriend got the pasta dish with mushroom. Surprising how many 5 star reviews this place got. I get that it's a local chill spot but there are better Italian restaurants in the area at the same price point. Will not be coming back.

Everything was great - the Scampi, pesto pasta, and fresh mozzarela!Portions aren't large, but prices are low relative to the very high quality - will be ordering and visiting again.
Be the first to ReplyGreat place.
They refer to their dishes as "small plates" but it's more European sizing (meaning not huge). We were full after splitting an appetizer, a broccoli rabe, and getting our own pasta dishes. Food is simple but delicious. The wine list is nice and varied and their glasses are a heavy pour. The space is tiny but cozy. Service is quick and friendly (e.g., when I asked for the tasting notes of a glass of wine she opened a bottle to give me a taste). Will definitely be back. Nice to have an affordable date spot downtown.
