Accidental visit and the best dinner we had in SLC
We were originally trying to go to the Copper Onion but werenโt paying attention when we walked up. However once we were seated we were excited to try to food we saw on the menu. Our server was amazingly kind and so helpful and Iโm sad Iโve since forgotten his name. The bartender made us roulette cocktails and my Nicholas Sage was so good Iโve been thinking of it ever since. The food was SUBLIME (miso pasta and lamb meatballs) and we would come back again and again. 10/10

We have been steady customers of this bar for many years. While having dinner and cocktails with important clients we had an incident that will prevent us from ever going there again or recommending it to any of our friends. When we went to leave the manager stopped us and told us the server had been offended by something that was said We were shocked and asked what it was and he would not tell us other than it was inappropriate and she was very offended. We asked to speak with the server so we could get it cleared up and the manager refused. Needless to say we did not sleep well and tried to get more information the next day and we're told things that were supposedly said that we never had any part of. We are considering legal action at this time as it was so embarrassing and humiliating to be accused of this kind of behavior.

Tried to dine on recommendation. Asked for ID. Fine. Produced UK photo driving licence which they said couldnโt accept and refused entry. Only passports. I'm a 57 year old man and much as Iโd like wouldn't pass for 41 let alone 21. Think bit of a sanity check is needed. Went round the corner to Brick &Mortar which was excellent and without the faff.

We came in for a drink and had the Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Dates they were amazing. Very friendly staff. Good service check it out!

Looks like a cool bar - Stopped in and all the tables with table service were occupied. Took a table with a sign stating go to the bar for service. Stood at the half full bar for a while and couldnโt get any service or even the Iโll be with you in a minute from the bartender. Disappointing and wonโt be back.
Be the first to ReplyGood for small plates. Pub food.
We were going to thier sister restaurant next door but the wait was too long. We walked in to Copper Common and were pleasantly surprised. They have some delicious small plates and salads and also a decent wine selection.

Went there by mistake looking for another restaurant with similar name. Very poor reception asking us for our papers (we are above 50!) and just sending us to our seats with no care at all what so ever. This place is just a bar with poor light and poor style. Waiter was nice however, waitresses didnโt blink at us.... we stepped out after first drink.
Be the first to ReplyHow could I give it anything but a 5 star review!
Rather than waste words... let me get to the most important takeaway from this review... GET THE BURGER!!!!!! OK, that said, I can proceed to tell you the whys of a 5 star rating. This place is amazing. Atmosphere is great. Yes, it may be technically a "bar"... I am not sure, but they have a wonderful seating area both inside and outside (on the patio with misters to keep you comfy and cool). Service was simple and accurate... always appreciated. The thing you want however is the food. MAN can they come up with some creative bites! So we got the hot bacon wrapped dates stuffed with blue cheese... right? If you are starting to salivate, then just wait... I thought that was going to be the highlight, but then they brought out the Carne Asada Fries... yummo. Big chunks of seared and marinated beef with a cheesy saucey thing with pickled onions, jalapenos.. all sorts of stuff to make your mouth jump and smile... And again, I thought we reached the pinnacle of happy mouth. But then (drumroll) the burger came, medium rare ended up being perfect , and holy cow, holy cow, holy cow. I had to think for a minute if I had ever had a burger I liked better, and I seriously cannot remember any time I enjoyed a burger that much. The crispy edges on the bun, caramelized onions and the duck fat aioli blew my mind. I was not only satisfied, I was wondering how soon I could get back here again. Thanks for an amazing meal!

We visited the Copper Common because the wait at Copper onion was too long. After trying to call Copper onion to make reservations this afternoon with no one answering their phone and no one calling back, we decided to chance it. We decided that the 45 minute wait was not worth our time so we wandered over to the Copper common.
The first thing to greet us was frustration that we had to walk to the bar to place our order and that there was no table service. The prices on wine I thought were extremely high, but beer prices were very reasonable.
Once we received our food, they looked appealing and tasted quite good. The bacon wrapped dates were delicious and a perfect balance of sweet and salty. The bacon was beautifully crispy, however there were some hard bits from the skin on the bacon and even a small shard of pit in one of the dates. That being said, I would definitely order them again.
We also shared an order of the kimchi fries. They had great flavor, but needed salt. Kimchi was nicely spicy and a great balance to the earthy french fries. The steak had been ordered medium rare, but several pieces were very rare.
Our final dish was the green beans. They were cooked perfectly with just enough crunch to make them fresh and delicious. My biggest complaint on this dish is that the stems were left on the green beans leaving you to have to either bite them off and in an uncivilized manner, collect the stems on the table, or cut them with your butter knife which was two dull to get through the crispy beans.
The advantage to going to the Copper common is that there was no wait, however the food was definitely not on point. My suggestion to the entire franchise is if youโre going to create an amazing reputation, you need to back it with high-quality food. Leaving stems on green beans is just laziness. And the arrogance that the hostess at the Copper onion gave me when I explained to her that no one answered their phone calls was disturbing at best. Cโmon Copper Restaurants...you can do better.
No service food good not worth it in the end.
Found this place on SLC magazine as a best of....Best of what I am not sure. There was no one there just us and a lot of employees. They could hardly be bothered to see how we were doing, if we needed anything. With a front house ratio of 2 us to 3 employees, back of the house #?, I am still amazed and itโs been a couple days. Wish I had read the reviews before going learned my lesson.

Dark, loud.....and intimate with your neighbors. We ordered the portobello sandwhich and it actually was amazing. This is a bar atmosphere with elevated bar food. The service was great....the food was amazing....but it was intimate! So very close to neighbors. They even had stand up tables. They were busy....it was a Saturday night. Not your typical first choice for a restaurant...but hey...it was good!

We went to CC on a Sunday for an early dinner. Parking is easy on weekends; we found a street space within 1/2 block. It was busy so a reservation is recommended. It was a beautiful day so we opted to sit on the patio; it turned out to be too hot so I'd recommend an inside table if it is over 85 F. Service was good not great. I ultimately gave my check and card to a different server and picked it up on the way out.
The food and drinks were good. I had a burger, which was cooked to order very well. My wife had a basic salad, which she thought was fine. Total meal for two people with one drink eat plus tax and tip was $102.20.
Great place, great food, great drinks
We found this place accidentally when at a convention at Salt Palace. We walked there in about 15-20 minutes on a gorgeous day. Our waiter, Chris, was awesome! We sat outside and the view was nice! Nice atmosphere with music not too loud. Inside was bar seating and some indoor table seating too. We both had a BBQ chicken sandwich was both amazing and unique. The cole slaw was different but yummy! Drinks weren't made from mixes. Try the Moscow mule--you won't be disappointed!
