Be the first to ReplyI was shocked to see this place was only 3.
5 stars. And this is coming from someone who only takes the time to complain. The service was so amazing, the food was delicious... burrata and bread, butternut squash pasta, whipped potatoes, and half chicken, all so yum. Def worth the visit.
Be the first to ReplyThis restaurant is beautiful.
It is an open roof and had a very cool vibe. This is one of those restaurant where you can just sit for a long time and chat with friends! I did the tasting menu and really enjoyed the menu. 3/5 stars because the chicken main course wasn't very good. It looked super raw to me, I flagged it and the super nice waiter said he promises it is cooked but he is happy to cook it a bit more. I totally believe him and I am not sick but it looked raw and was sooooo chewy. So that was kind of gross. But I liked everything else. Also three stars because I didn't get all my leftovers :( I had things packed up the entire meal and only left with the chicken that was chewy and rubbery. I loved the vibe, and everything else besides the chicken was good but not good enough for me to go back.

Came here for restaurant week and it was amazing! An insanely filling tasting menu for $65, you can't beat that deal.We started with snacks - yellowfin crudo, pate, hummus, and the real star here - fry bread with burrata. It's like a donut but savory, seriously a must try. We had two pasta dishes, both were excellent, with pretty strong and interesting flavors. Then we had roasted chicken, Brussels sprouts, and mashed potatoes. I'm not crazy about roasted chicken, but this was so juicy and delicious. Finally we had a dessert custard with coffee ice cream - so decadent! My one qualm - it was really loud, almost too loud to have a conversation. Overall, I left stuffed and happy!
Be the first to ReplyOverall, this place was OK.
Good ambiance, but expensive and so-so food. How expensive? Like $60 - $80 pp if people each get a glass of wine, and share some veggies + mains.A few dishes were fantastic, most others were a bit mediocre:- Cauliflower was meh. Weird texture and ours came out cold.- Braised chickpeas were decent.- Braised pork pasta was EXCELLENT. Nicely balanced with spice, richness and acidity.- Duck tortelloni was solid.- Chicken dish was not great. Very salty. Could be more juicy and crispy.Drinks were pretty good. You can make your money go a lot further somewhere else.

To be honest, I don't remember much about the food at Central Kitchen. A group of us came here for Nina Y.'s birthday, and the best part was the private room we had. One of her friends added to the décor by arranging flowers. It was a prie fixe menu shared family-style, mitigating any lull or awkwardness due to ordering individually.I was the last person to arrive so I didn't get to try the yellowfin crudo, but the pork paté and burrata was good. I remember the roasted cauliflower because it had hummus. Many of the other dishes weren't very memorable. There was an assortment of pastas, including radiatore with smoked pork, pepperonata, and calabrian chili as well as pumpkin caramelle with brown butter, balsamic, and sage. The main course consisted of roasted chicken and whipped potato. The dishes came out at a good pace, and our waitress did a fabulous job of keeping the wine flowing. Nina Y. always knows how to throw a good party and accommodate the budgets of her many friends. Our meal ended with chocolate custard and coffee ice cream. Again, even thinking back through the menu, my taste buds aren't jumping up and down, but I recall the classy ambiance the most. Love the lighting and service in this private room. I might be open to trying the food again in a traditional restaurant format, but there are just so many other places to explore!

Tried the Restaurant Week menu and was not only completely stuffed, but also impressed. Not sure why they only have 3.5 on yelp?? The ambience is lovely, service friendly and efficient, and food/wine was stellar! The mushroom pasta was amazing...rich but light. Their mashed potatoes with chicken cracklings are delicious. The cauliflower salad was another highlight...full of texture and flavor. Will absolutely go back for another dinner!
Be the first to ReplyI love this place overall.
Food is great, especially pastas! Other times I've been have been more 5 star but this time server left a lot to be desired. We had to work hard to get her attention to order drinks whenever we needed one and she never bothered to check on us during our meal. And it wasn't even that busy given we were first seating. She also had a really bad sounding cough and coughed into her hands then was serving dishes - not very sanitary! Otherwise great but she definitely brought it down a level unfortunately.

Excellent food and service! The staff was super friendly and attentive. All plates are meant to be shared family style and our party left happy and full! From appetizer menu we had the smoked eggplant, yellowfin crudo, but the fry bread with Burrata was my favorite!!! It came out warm and airy, and we slathered with the creamy Burrata....heaven! Perfect comfort food for rainy night in the city. Also had the roasted cauliflower which came with hummus, ricotta and pistachios and these flavors worked so well together. We had the pumpkin caramelle pasta (they looked like little candies but filled with sweet pumpkin), the pappardelle (with wild boar bolognese), and roasted chicken with mashed potatoes ( topped with chicken cracklings) But the star of the show was dessert.....persimmon ice cream topped with caramel sauce! Such a fabulous way to end our girls night!!! Will definitely be back!!

We were a party of 4 on a quiet Wednesday night, with an 8 pm reservation. The restaurant was half empty, with at least 4 staff members on the floor. The food was excellent but the service was AWFUL. There was no host at the door- we joined the half of our party already seated. Fifteen minutes later, I had to get up and ask the host (who was chatting with a friend) to send over our server because nobody had come by the table yet. We hadn't even been offered water. One server (or maybe a manager?) came to the table, but once he answered our questions about the menu, he disappeared. I had to once again flag down a staff member to ask if we could place an order (over ten minutes later). Another server began taking care of our table, but she never introduced herself or acknowledged that she had been missing for the first thirty+ minutes of our time in the restaurant. We placed our order, including the fry bread with roasted garlic. Some of the starters arrived, but the fry bread was missing. Over ten minutes later, the fry bread arrives with no explanation and no garlic- I called our serve back to inquire if the garlic was inside the bread or if it was coming. She said it was coming as she walked away. Most of our party eventually ate their portions without the garlic, as the fry bread was getting cold. Fifteen minute later, another server drops an entire head of roasted garlic on the table and leaves. This was the garlic we ordered with the fry bread, which was long gone. No explanation again. I had to flag our server AGAIN to ask for some more bread, since we now had an entire head of garlic and nothing to eat it with. The meal continues. We finished our entrees and the empty plates sat on the table for long time, while staff milled around chatting and tending to cleaning tasks (the restaurant is nearly empty). Eventually someone take our plates. I flag down our server to ask about a dessert menu- she says she has three dessert options, but then stands there and fails to say what they are until I prompt her. She leaves. I have to call her back to actually place the order- this is more than five minutes later. Once we finish our desserts, we sit at the table for more than ten minutes, until I get up to ask for the check. At this point, it is after 10 pm and the restaurant is nearly empty. Paying the bill was rather infuriating- for a meal that expensive, the service was AWFUL and not at all aligned with the price point of the restaurant. I totally understand slower service when a restaurant is busy or understaffed, but this was not at all the case. I've been a server and can therefore recognize the difference between tough circumstances and simply terrible service. The food was excellent but the entire experience left such a bitter taste in my mouth that I won't bother coming back. I would not recommend it to anyone.
