It's like Italian Tapas.
We had a little of everything and I can't say one thing was better than another. The service was slow and the food was fresh. I did not like how they jammed you so close together. To me that just makes a restaurant look greedy. You are literally on top of your next table neighbor. The arancini was small but perfect. The ravioli with truffles and pecorino was perfect also. Fresh ingredients made fresh for each order.

My family and I popped in for a last minute meal at dinner before heading to Paris and it was FANTASTIC! I'm really big on great service and our waiter went above and beyond. The food, service, and drinks are amazing. Please check this place out and give it a try.
Be the first to ReplyThis is a difficult rating.
The food was excellent. They take small plates to a new level of "small". Everything we had was well prepared and delicious. While they indicate that 2 plates per person was typical, this was not close to a meal and should be closer to 4 (or at least the portion we received). Service was great.

Be the first to ReplyDelicious family style Italian cuisine was so welcomed
Delicious family style Italian cuisine was so welcomed after many days of traveling. We dined here on the recommendation of a dear friend after visiting the website of all the San Carlo locations. We selected about eight options, including meat and vegetarian based. The vegetarian items were equally delicious, and the meat eaters in the group enjoyed the options. The items came out one after the other, as soon as we were finished with the prior course. This made for consistent hot food, which is a must for me. Nothing worse than room temperature pasta, which was definitely not the case here. The restaurant was packed, but the service was still very good. Our sever recommended dishes, wine, and was overall very attentive, but not rushing us to leave. We enjoyed our last dinner in London in a leisurely fashion. I hope they will created one in the US at some point. Until then, I will have to make this a must stop when in London!
Be the first to ReplyThis restaurant serves Italian style Tapas, which means
This restaurant serves Italian style Tapas, which means they recommend ordering 5-6 dishes among two people. Which we did! It was great, because my husband and I always want to get the Bolognese at Italian places and he has a weird aversion to both of us ordering the same dish. It also means we can't try anything else. Not a problem here! Our waiter recommended the Ravioli Tartufo, which was handmade with filled with pecorino cheese and truffle, with a cream, Parmesan and truffle oil sauce. It was amazing! We also got the Carpaccio di Manzo, Bolognese (of course), Carbonara, garlic bread, and a calzone with ham. It was waaaaay too much food, but all really good. The service was a bit inattentive...we arrived around 4pm when the restaurant was fairly empty and it took a while for anyone to approach our table. If you are dining any later than 5, I'd suggest reservations. This is a great spot if you want to try a variety of dishes.

Be the first to ReplyMy husband and I just returned from a 4 day trip to London.
We ate at this restaurant 3 times!! The food was delicious and perfectly portioned. Everything from the salad to the pizza to the pasta was fabulous. But, the service and staff made our dining experience over the top. Eva was our server each day and we came back partially to see her! She was friendly and attentive. She accommodated any request and frequently checked on us to see if we needed anything. Eva is a special person who really was a wonderful ambassador for the restaurant. Make sure to visit this restaurant and ask for Eva!NYSharon
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, great service! I wish I could give this place 5
Great food, great service! I wish I could give this place 5 stars only if they didn't constantly giving my food to the next table, including the last order in the restaurant for that day, and the next table took all the free food eating them greedily while I was just staring at them with anger. The manager made it up to me by giving me free dessert, yet it is still annoying seeing the next table ate my last order. All in all, those busboys totally need to be retrained as they constantly distribute food to wrong tables.

The food is really good and is tapas style, so can order many dishes even with a small group.

Excellent Italian classic dishes, restaurant was buzzing with a fun vibe. The only thing I didn't like was that I had made a reservation in advance but they gave us a table all the way in the back, by the big stove. Good tables should be saved for guests that take the time to reserve ahead of time, not walk-ins. Also know that this restaurant is a chain, so look for a convenient location. Service was good.

We came to Cicchetti for dinner on a Wednesday night due to the 4-star rating on Yelp. We arrived at 5pm and a waiter took our order at about 5:10pm. 5 minutes later our drinks were served... and that's it! In the next 20 mins we saw other people that came after us were served food, but not for us. Not even a salad which should be easy to prepare. At about 5:35pm, I asked the waiter about the the status of our order and he told us the food was coming soon. 25 minutes later, at about 6pm, I asked the manager about the status of our order as we had another event starting at 7pm which was about 15 minutes walk from the restaurant. Then the manager told us the order was printed to the front desk, instead of the kitchen. As a result, our food had never been prepared, not even the salad! If the order was printed to the front desk, why couldn't someone take the printout to the kitchen? During this 50-minute wait, why were we the only table not being served food while four other tables around us had got their food? In the restaurant business, shouldn't someone be sensitive and notice four adults didn't get any food in 50 minutes while everybody else in the restaurant was eating? Why didn't the waiter check on the status of the order with the kitchen when I asked him at 5:35pm? How come the manager could find out the printer situation but not the waiter? Knowing we were running out of time, we ended up canceling our order, paying for the drinks and left. It was such a lose-lose situation as we didn't get our food and the restaurant didn't make much money from our table. Not sure if that was really a mistake or they didn't want to serve people of color.... Either way this is an awful dining experience in London.
Be the first to ReplyKeep walking past this place.
We ordered cocktails to start a slow and lovely evening. Before we had our first sip we were hounded into selecting wine and our dinner. The wine arrived and was opened after the second sip of our cocktails. Each food order came out so quickly that they must have had each dish pre-made. Won't be going back to this place ever again.

Waiter never put in our pasta order after waiting over an hour. Luckily we got our bread basket, salad, and a small individual sized pizza - all meh. But he claimed he'd be coursing it out so it didn't all come at once...he never put the order in and another waiter had to inquire why we were still waiting at our table. Service was so shocking it was laughable. No meal is worth it. Go ANYWHERE else for Italian food.
Be the first to ReplyJust had the worse dinner.
.. of my life!!!I have eaten In 4 continents, in over 20countries and nothing was like this experience, at this restaurant. Made reservations for 9:30 pm and were sat down soon after. So far so good. Then we waited 30 minutes before a waiter even came to our table, after we asked the busser twice if we even had a waiter assigned us. I witnessed the busser ask two different waiters on two occasions to serve us and both times saw the waiter scold the busser, telling him to mind his own business, that he knew. The waiter who finally came to our table acted like he was being put upon to even have to serve us. He did not greet us and simply stated they were understaffed. Yet I had seen him serve a table next to us who was sat after us and take their order passing our table 4 times without even acknowledging our presence. I told my wife Inwas not going to make a big deal about our delay, mainly so that they wouldn't spit on our food. But I couldn't help myself when I saw him berate the busser who was trying , in vain so it seemed, to get someone to at least help us. At that point, I simply asked the waiter not to take it out on our busser or yell at him and all he said was that he was not yelling at the busser and that he was understaffed. He said that the bussers were "lovely guys," which seemed demeaning since the bussers were all southeast Asians and this in and of itself seemed demeaning and somewhat racist. He took our order, consisting of arancini, beef carpaccio, avocado salad, basilicata pizza, tagliatelle bolognese, cavatelle con melanzane e salslciccia, and spinach and ricotta ravioli. He said he would course it out, which seemed like he knew what he was doing. We received the first four dishes... and then waited and waited. Another waiter asked if we were finished and we said we had 3 other main courses still coming. Then he asked again 20 minutes later and we saw him ask our waiter. By this point, the kitchen was apparently closing and the waiter said that we would not be getting the other courses since the kitchen was now closed. His apology consisted of giving us these three left over cannolis as compensation (granted we were a party of four). In short, we left hungry, disappointed and disgusted. Because the service charge is always included in the UK, he received his usual tip. This restaurant does not care about the level of service rendered. And this extends from the manager on duty, who was also advised by our busser that we had not yet been helped and who merely scolded and waived him away, to the other waiters, who simply walked by our table and ignored us. The only person who seemed to care was the busser who tried to help us but who apparently was a new hire and was scolded to mind his business. DO NOT COME TO THIS RESTAURANT. The workers would rather be anywhere but here and have the worse attitude of any restaurant I have EVER been to... anywhere... in my life. This will always be a memory on this vacation so I guess we have that.

My mother and I both agreed that this was our best lunch in England - possibly our best meal of the trip - and we've had some lovely meals. The service and the food here is divine and definitely worth the wait if you can't get seated right away. The dishes are severed tapas style, which I love because that means more to try!
Be the first to ReplyItalian served in small plates designed to be shared.
Food is passable but served as quickly as McDonald's. We got all 5 of our entrees within 10 minutes of ordering. Packed with tourists. There are way better Italian restaurants in London. Decent wine list.

If you've ever been to the Olive Garden in the US, you'll know what to expect when coming to this restaurant. It's crowded on any given day, so reservations are a must, and if you're coming in alone, expect to sit at an even more crowded bar with barely enough room for your stuff, and awkward conversations with the barman. The food isn't bad per sé, but it lacks a certain homemade quality that makes great Italian food what it is. Given that it shows up at your table less than ten minutes after you order it makes me question what's really going on in the kitchen. You can definitely tell that it's from a franchise, and it's easy to confuse this place for the Caffe Concertos you see scattered throughout the touristy areas in London.Again, it isn't awful. The cocktails aren't the greatest, but they also won't kill you. The Chicken Milanese and Spaghetti Bolognese lacked a bit of 'mmph,' but I've had worse. The Tiramisu is hardly the best I've tried, but at least it's made in-house and comes with a shot of marsala (dessert wine). Overall, the experience was just 'meh.' You could do better in this area.

We stumbled upon this place while visiting London and it is fabulous! Great atmosphere, service, and most importantly, the food. We stopped for tea and deserts, and wound up getting more! VERY affordable, and delicious. Please give this place a look.
Be the first to ReplyThere are several locations all around London.
Reservations are recommended. Tapas style entrees. On the whole, food was average to good. Tables are very very close together which was good for conversation with people around you but a bit too cozy. The negative here was food delivery was very rushed . For a very large dinning room there were a multitude of busses and expos however one server per 30-40 guests whom thought everything depended on them. This venue has a huge opportunity to do better .
