A family week in August
Genuinely the most attentive and helpful staff we have ever had. We absolute loved it here. It’s charming and elegant, beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable with views to die for. Staff went out of there way to help with dinner recommendations and suggestions for trips.
Be the first to ReplyLovely chateau but overpriced restaurant
We loved the history and ambiance of the château. We enjoyed sitting by the pool area with its beautiful country views. Our room was well appointed and the bed extremely comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our only disappointment was the restaurant. The service was impeccable, however we were surprised at the cost of the meals.€50-60 for entrees and €70 for mains is far too expensive. We ate at many Michelin restaurants in France and whilst this was good it wasn’t great and certainly didn’t justify the prices.

We stayed there a couple of days ! It was wonderful ! Everything was great ! We also had dinner there. The service was top. The dishes were delicious ! Besides of that, the chateau is not far from Rocamadour, Sarlat… so you can visit also these villages !

A wonderful stay in this 5 star hotel where nothing is too much - food, accommodation, staff and location were all excellent - would happily rush back! Swimming in the river is a special extra! Also dog friendly which is so appreciated
Be the first to ReplySwimming pool closed
We came for a few days in June to relax before the high tourist season, we would have liked to have been informed when booking that the swimming pool would be under renovation and therefore closed, the outdoor equipment for customers is really old and we hope that it will be changed when the swimming pool opens because for the moment the hotel is not at all at the level of the price paid

A castle of high value in a culture and nature of high value ... but the service and the accomodation of the garden and pool area did not correspond to the pricing level of this hotel: neither toilets nor service at the pool, unconfortable chaise-longues. After swimming, you have to bring your towels back to the reception girls. There is no comfortable garden furniture. A beloved place? Excellent dinner. Room furniture on a minimum standard.

Feel so grateful to have found this wonderful hotel. Will definitely be back. From the location, to the food, to the service and facilities; everything was wonderful! Did I forget to mention the fantastic view from the terrace, the electric car charger, and the pool and tennis court?? Thank you for making us all feel so welcome.

Wonderful, fairytale chateau with superb food and beautiful room. Staff were delightfully attentive and helped arrange canoe trip at short notice. The menu de degustation was inventive, stunning flavours and presentation, served on the terrace overlooking the river - wow!
Be the first to ReplyWonderful, as always.
Sensational. We returned after 18 years and somehow, Chateau De La Treyne was even better than we remembered it. This is an experience to behold and to savour. This time we swam twice in the river just below the Chateau - just beautiful and strongly recommended.
Be the first to ReplyAMAZING French chateau near La Cave, France. Luxury and hospitality abound.
Had a FABULOUS experience at this spectacular and luxurious French chateau. Beauty, grace, luxury and hospitality abound. From beautiful gardens to world class cuisine, Chateau de la Treyne offers a great escape from everyday life. Many thanks for the special kindness of Stephanie, Annabelle, Matthieu, Miguel and Timothy. We’ll be back.

My review combines the hotel stay and the meals because we they are intertwined and we purchased them together. The rooms are gorgeous and comfortable with handstitched wallpaper, and we were welcomed with lovely treats. The front desk is nice, very helpful and informative. We were asked to specify a time when we would like to come down for our pre-dinner aperitif and gave it to them and showed up at the appointed time. It was lovely on the terrace and we enjoyed our drinks and nibbles. After quite awhile we noticed that everyone who had come down before AND after us had been seated and we were left by ourselves. When I asked the young woman who was showing another couple to the dining room, she asked, "Oh! Are you dining in the restaurant?" After that, the staff apologized for the confusion, but it did color the rest of the evening. Perhaps it is a result of the post-pandemic times we are in, but the senior staff seems a bit overwhelmed and the junior staff eager but not entirely seasoned. Service was fine, but very disjointed. That said, dinner was delicious and perfect, including the wine pairings. At the end of the evening, however, we seemed once again forgotten and just got up and left. Luckily, the room was beautiful and quiet and we had a good night's sleep. Again, maybe as a result of the times we are in, breakfast was disappointing. The owner had stopped by the table the previous evening and told us what a treat we were in for with breakfast, so we were expecting a lot. The breads and pastries were excellent as was the carrot juice and fruit salad, but there was nothing hot available, no egg dish, no quiche, nothing. We even asked. We were not offered refills on juice. Although what was there was excellent, it was disappointing for the price paid and compared to the other experiences we've had at other Relais & Chateau properties. Overall it is a nice property with beautiful rooms, but the senior staff seems to need more experienced support.
