We stayed in a Prestige room for a couple of nights during our recent trip to Reims. This was one of three Relais & Chateaux that we stayed at throughout the trip, and we generally like the hotel family because it features predictably good service and food quality. On those levels, the hotel is excellent. We enjoyed lovely, and relatively reasonably priced, tasting menus each of the nights. One day, they also prepared a really nice picnic lunch (this puts picnic lunches to shame -- expect a 5-course affair), which we enjoyed by the pool. Most of the service quality was very good, even if English was spotty depending on who you spoke to (OK for us since we speak french, but at least one of the main reception people was adamant that we speak in English to him, even though he really could not understand what we were saying or manage our request). The room quality was high, with period details but relatively modern bathrooms and an extremely comfortable bed. The area they can improve most on most easily is related to the grounds themselves. While the property is beautiful, there are sprinklers that run from sun-up to sun-down that make a rather loud and noticeable ticking sound right outside the back windows. You might not notice except that the rooms *are not air conditioned* so it's your only chance to get fresh air overnight. The lawn looked pretty waterlogged for most of the day, so maybe they can keep it down to a few hours in the morning and let guests hear the birds chirping instead of lawn equipment? Additionally, the german wasps are a real problem during the summer. During meals (esp breakfast, which they serve outside without an option to stay inside) the wasps know right where to go, and will swarm you the entire time. They even fly into your windows during the day, should you dare try to open them to get some airflow. Fortunately we don't have allergies, but there were others who did and who seemed extremely anxious throughout the stay -- they're absolutely everywhere.
