So sad.
Had a very ordinary meal. We ordered the Chefโs Menu. Itโs a shame that Andreโs restaurants are dead.Even Oyamel was disappointing when we visited last year. Basic food. Very basic. Poor service. Nothing special about a night out. No heart like we used to have in the Bethesda Jaleo! So sad.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing dinner and fantastic celebration !
This restaurant , food and staff are amazing . Well located in Washington DC is a must visit for its visitors!. I requested a good seating table and it was ready even before my arrival with my guests. Our server did her best to please us and we enjoyed very much everything, but especially the Fish . It was something from another planet . We ordered 3 of them ( Roasted Doradas on the bananaโs leaf) ohhhh my gosh , delicious !. Our overall experience was terrific and we thank each of its Staff involved ๐๐๐๐โค๏ธ. We will come back again , for sure!.
Be the first to ReplyThe set menu and our server were excellent.
Two of us enjoyed lunch at China Chilcano today. It was pouring rain on a weekday, and this place was warm and inviting. I had the set lunch which was a winner for $28. It consisted of siu mai pollo, tallarin saltado de verduras (chow mein noodles), and suspiro limana (sweetened condensed milk custard topped with soft and crispy meringue and a passion fruit ice. My cousin ordered the shrimp donburi and the vegetarian jiaozi. The prices were extremely reasonable for the tastiness that was delivered to our table. The service was very good. Our waiter, Franklin, patiently answered all our questions and all his recommendations worked out great. The space is very cute and cheerfully decorated. The Chinese, Japanese and Peruvian flavors blend wonderfully. I encourage people to learn more about the history of how these elements found harmony with each other. It took a long time.
Be the first to ReplyBest Restaurant Ever
This is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. It has been over 2 weeks and I still think about how good this food was. It is very creative mixing Asian style with Peruvian food. And it tastes absolutely amazing.
Be the first to ReplyA Dining Experiment of Success
I have for a long time been impressed by Jose Andres and his philanthropy. While on our visit to DC, our daughter made reservations at one of his restaurants. It is an amazing diverse menu that one does not know where to begin to start ordering. The blending of Peruvian, Chinese, and Japanese is unique. Our table did one of the Chefโs Tasting Menus. Absolutely everything was good. Such an amazing blend of flavors. I think I lost count of tastings after 10 rounds of food. It was just endless amounts of good food appearing. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere is as interesting as the food.

Wonderful flavors. Unique. Good service. Not the most comfortable seating. Big and unfamiliar menu...wish I could go back frequently
Be the first to ReplyThank you Manager CJ !!!!
Excellent restaurant with great service and great food. We enjoyed the pork buns as well as the five spice old-fashioned. Will be back again.
Be the first to ReplyAffordable fixed lunch menu
Our first day in DC, came here for the fixed price menu at lunch. It wasn't very busy so service was very fast. For $28, you get 3 courses. We started with the Siu Mai Pollo and Papas a la Huancaina (this was a bit bland). Main: Aji de Gallina and Salmon Donburi. The salmon is meant to be raw but we asked that they cook it. The best part was the dessert: Suspiro Limena and Ponderaciones de Kiwicha. The latter was served with amazing banana ice cream and chocolate cream.

Great food, the portions are large and the food is priced well. I find some of the other comments bizarre. If you go, download the InKind app to save $25 off $75 or pre-buy InKind cash to save money. We ordered three dishes+ dessert, and we left with enough food for another meal. My only quibble is the food came out too fast and I felt rushed.
Be the first to ReplyPretty marginal tasting experience
Had the Peruvian tasting experience. Based on the offerings, will probably never have Peruvian food again. Also did the cocktail pairing. Of the four cocktails, two were ones we had while we were waiting at the bar. The final straw was the dessert offerings. One looked like a small child made the dessert. The Camouflage green color was disturbing. Disappointed. Love the work Chef Andre is most famous for. Will probably not go back based on our experience.
Be the first to ReplyHoped for Peruvian food!
We are Peruvians leaving in the US and have tried the best and not so good places everywhere โฆbut this place has NO REAL Peruvian dishes to offerโฆonly drinks and ambiance โฆ thatโs it.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing
Disappointing. This place used to be an excellent place to eat. I went this weekend with my family and the food was not great and the service was terrible. Lomo saltado was not prepared as we requested. Potatoes huancaina were not only cold, they were almost frozen. French fries were not crispy at all. The beverages full of ice so they tasted like water. Service, terrible, the waitress we got was not good at all. I definitely will choose another option next time for my lomo saltado.
Be the first to ReplyGreat take on Chifa cuisine!
Tried China Chilcano for dinner. Was excited to see the restaurantโs take on Chifa (Peruvian Chinese food) and we were not disappointed. The menu is a great mix of dumplings, rice dishes, ceviches, and traditional Peruvian dishes like Lomo Saltado and Yuca fries. Everything was excellent, to include the Pisco Sours and the Peruvian beer. Very happy with the meal and will return again in the future.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent meal, fantastic service
We chose to take the $70 tasting menu, and it was excellent. Many dishes, a great variety of food, sufficient quantities even for those arriving very hungry, and fantastic service.
Be the first to ReplyDifferent and tasty
Bustling on a freezing Sunday afternoon. The food is basically Chinese/Japanese but with a Peruvian twist Everything we had vast flavorful and well-executed. We got a fried seafood medley that was great for sharing. Easy to see how it has attracted the attention of Michelin and prices not excessive for the quality. Informal and lively vibe. Friendly service. One quibble and point docked: when the bill came most things were $1 more than the menu prices. I didn't say anything, guessing they changed at the New Year and didn't yet update the menus.
Be the first to ReplyTakeout for 2
My husband and I got the Takeout Package for 2 on a rainy night in December. We had eaten at and enjoyed other Jose Andres restaurants in Los Angeles and in DC. China Chilcano did not disappoint. There were 6 different dishes and all were generous portions. Flavors were varied, and food was fresh and tasty. The only complaint was the salt content must have been high as both of us were guzzling water all night long afterwards. Also, $100 for takeout seems a bit excessive.
Be the first to ReplyBang average
Bang average. We ordered many items off the menu. The only dish we savored was the Sang Choi Bow (lettuce wrapped pork). The rest was quite plain and lacking flavor. Presentation of food was well executed. Service was professional.
Be the first to ReplyDelightful dinning experience
This restaurant reflects the variety of Peru- Japanes. Chinese and local native influences. We were so glad we made reservations. This is such an amazing dinning experience. Excellent service and lovely place, bustling with people. We were comfortably seated in a booth. Our serves Angeles was very attentive and took good care of us. We started with a Chilcano, ginger based pisco. My husband enjoyed a northern peruvian rum. The manager actually came by to show us the bottle. My son had the purple corn drink chicha morado with sprite. We started with cilantro dumplings and aeropuerto noodles, deliciously done with lots of flavor, chicken rice bowl with avocado and spiced chicken. We tried the salmon ceviche with a delicate sauce. Ended with a fried dough, banana icecream and peruvian dark powder chocolate with hazelnut cream buried as a surprise.
Be the first to ReplyVisited for lunch
Food was ok, small plates so more like tapas. We were disappointed with the drinks, being from Peru we asked for a pisco sour, which clearly had not enough pisco for correct flavor. We asked the waitress to get the barman to fix it and they refused saying their standard is 1.5 oz of pisco (which by the was was not mentioned anywhere), we insisted in just adding a little pisco to fix it and they declined so we cancelled it and ordered a come instead. Their stubbornness was frustrating, by adding 0.5 oz of pisco we would have been ok and paid for it, instead we cancelled it and got a coke, not very smart of them and certainly does not speak well about their customer service
