Cute Casual Place
Casual dinner with friends: LOVED the roasted carrots and the cauliflower!! Lasagna was good. Focaccia was okay (too much olive oil). Veggies there were great! Service was okay (many servers seemed to be sniffling and coughing a lot, which was a bit concerning - cold season, maybe?). I would go back just for the vegetables.

This restaurant used to be one of the best in the city. The food quality has slipped and the prices have increased. Used to be almost impossible to get into but now its easy to get a reservation- Charging fine dining prices for good Italian food
Be the first to ReplyCool Italian Restaurant
Loved the atmosphere and would strongly recommend this place. Other than the focaccia, the food was really good. The crudo was definitely the best.
Be the first to ReplyPost your prices, honestly!
The food is almost too tasty for words, but is it allowed to complain that the hospitality industry no longer post their honest prices? Congress had to pass a law to get airlines to announce the actual prices they charge, and that mandate is continually eroded with fees for luggage, seat choice, and the like. In the case of Ce Faci, there is a notice on the menu that all prices are to be increased by ten percent because of -- and here follows a list of ordinary expenses which every cafe in the world has to cover. And then they tell you explicitly that's not the gratuity. Americans put up with this because we are so used to seeing prices in stores that don't include tax. Most theories of the free market require that the buyer and seller know what it is they are getting from each other. I have no idea where to go, to protest the tendency toward secrecy in pricing. There is far more detailed accuracy in describing the contents of the bouquet garni in the cocktails, than in the price list on the menu. At this rate, paying a restaurant bill will end up like the out-of-court settlements you always read about, with all parties forbidden to discuss how much money had to be paid for sleeping with minors or poisoning waterways or - wait for it - sending tourists to the bottom of the ocean in a large PVC pipe from Home Depot.
Be the first to ReplyGreat albeit loud restaurant
The food was fabulous. The service was a bit slow and the restaurant was very loud. But, the food made up for it. Everything was fabulous.
Be the first to ReplyNot the same restaurant
In 2018 Che Fico was one of the hottest and best restaurants in SF. Since re-opening after the pandemic, the food quality has dropped off. The restaurant also increased its prices, added an extra 10% service charge and expects you to leave a top on top of that. Che Fico charges high-end dining pricing but doesn't deliver ra high-end experience. THe food needs to return to its previous quality levels and the dining room packs you in like sardines. Still one of the best Italian restaurants in SF, but not a fan anymore
Be the first to ReplyGo to this place if you don't mind being robbed of your hard earned $ while enduring the noise and very average food
This is a noisy and pretentious place that sells you a personal size Margherita Pizza for $30 and a bone-in ribeye beef dish for $165! On top of that, you are charged 10% extra to receive education on how to run a restaurant like theirs. You may think that this 10% charge at least covers a portion of your tip. Wrong, tip and tax are extra that you must pay. Given this type of price tag, you would imagine that the portion size must be huge. Wrong again, as I said the $30 pizza is just for one person to consume. Finally, what about the taste? Very average at best! In short, there are other decent Italian restaurants in SF that are honest and don't bankrupt your account. However, if you don't mind being robbed of your hard earned $ while enduring the noise and very average food, certainly go to Che Fico.
Be the first to Replygreat food!
great atmosphere and great food. loved the pizza and pesto pasta. great restaurant overall. nice place to go for dinner.
Be the first to ReplyTotal joke. Ten per cent added charge, plus tip and sales tax. Stay away
If you happen to go to this very average, hipster style place beware that the charge on the menu is just the beginning. They add a crazy 10% fee to pay the employees and then add the 9% state tax, plus add the tip of 20% and the added fees are almost 40%. Absolutely crazy. They say they want to reinvent the restaurant model. Just charge the price they feel they need to for the food and be done with it.
Be the first to ReplySo rude...
One might think that due to the pandemic this restaurant would be grateful to be doing business with so many others are going under. I guess not though. Employees are rude and obnoxious. The food was mediocre at best. Iโm not sure how this restaurant has survived for this long but I donโt give it much longer.
Be the first to ReplyUnusally friendly menu
A first: a menu that identifies dishes for gluten-free, vegan, and Jewish preferences. The wine list was extensive and the Italian wine we had was delicious. The food was excellent and the lamb dish must be shared - it was as massive as it was tasty. Too noisy for me to be completely happy.
Be the first to ReplyWe Expected a Better Dining Experience
The ambiance was lovely to look at with all the rustic wood and open kitchen. The price to be paid for that was loudness and tables about three inches from one another.
We waited almost half an hour after ordering cocktails to receive them. In the meantime, they started to bring our food. We sent it back asking to wait until we had a chance to enjoy the cocktails that had not yet arrived.
Our waitperson was very chipper and tried to be helpful with the menu although we felt some up selling was going on. We bought in and had ample leftovers to take home for another meal.
As far as food, the beginning and end were wonderful. The Suppli was one of the best weโve tasted and large enough to share. The Suckling Pig was divine with tender meat and plenty of crispy skin. In between, the dishes were lackluster. The Cauliflower Sformato was unctuously creamy but there was no taste of cauliflower. The Rabbit Pasta was much too salty, perhaps due to the generous amount of Parmesan on it.
The selection of wines by the glass was interesting and the ones we chose were very enjoyable with our meal.
We went to Che Fico out of curiosity due to all the hype and press. Was it worth the $280+ price? Absolutely not.
Excellent
Delicious food and fun atmosphere - we went with a large group and everyone enjoyed it! Donโt skip the deserts!
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, high energy spot
The restaurant was loud and full of energy on the Saturday night we had dinner. We shared quite a few dishes and my husband declared the pizza crust was the best heโs ever had. All of the food was good, and the quality of the ingredients was evident. Our server was friendly and helpful when it came to ordering. Pace of service was a little slow which may be ok if you want to linger over dinner. The interior is upscale casual.
Note: I found it odd that no one answered the phone during business hours. I called the restaurant a few times and only got voice mail. This included the night of our reservation when I called to let them know we were running a little late. When we got to the restaurant it was clear no one had picked up my message.
Wow
Took us by surprise. Decided to stop by for an impromptu dinner as we were walking past and we were not disappointed.
Such an enticing menu, was hard to decide what to choose. Meals are designed to share but they are not overly large, if sharing. We had the Sourdough Bread, Market Insalada, Ricotta Gnudi and Squash Bottoni and loved every bite of our meals. Great wine selection and professional service. Highly recommend.
Delicious pasta; innovative flavours
The ambiance is incredible. Large, airy, bright space, lovely long tables, kind music.
We had the burrata with pistachios - nom nom. The tartellini ragu was simple but delicious! Pizza was great but beware the chilli has a kick to it.
We didnโt have a reservation but they take walk-ins at 5.30pm
Overall a wonderful experience.
I reeeeeally wanted to like it
I was so excited for Che Fico to open, and even more excited when I got a prime Saturday night reservation. We love Italian food and make our own pasta frequently. Checking out the reviews beforehand I was shocked to see so many poor ones! I thought maybe people were hating on it because it was super hyped up and being unfairly critical. Unfortunately I see why now.
When we walked in we loved the decor, we noticed it was super busy and LOUD but we were still seated right away.
We ordered the focaccia, chopped salad and 2 pastas.
All pretty below average - including the tagliatelle which was the most reviewed pasta! Super disappointing and not a great value at $28.. And I think the focaccia was $8? For literally a quarter sliver and a small little thing of marscapone.
We left bummed out, slightly hungry and vowing to stick to Cotogna and A Mano for our Italian date nights.
Delicious Italian style Perfection!
Looking for fantastic updated yet traditional Italian food family style? Look no further. Che Fico is a great place to go with friends & family. So many choices everyone will be happy. We had 6 in our party & we ordered so many different plates. Some of our favorites:
Chopped salad - grilled chopped duck livers- Bufala Burrata- Tagliatelle Ragu Bolognese, canโt forget that flavor- Orecchiette with Lamb sausage - Woodfired chicken and donโt forget to order a pizza , the margarita was fantastic! That should be enough to get your mouthwatering.
In this energetic and open venue & the delicious menu choices made it a very fun evening. The service polished off the experience. Wonderful to bring out-of-town friends to. The wine list was fun with Italian wines at the forefront. We had a delicious Barbera and a other bottles also I canโt recall. We had great help from their resident wine expert.
Che Fico is located near the painted lady houses Neighborhood. A reservation is a must! Last minute - you better be waiting out in front of the restaurant a half hour or more before they open. Great place!
Great Italian food in lively atmosphere
If you want to go on a quiet romantic date, dont come here. If you want a vibrant fun dinner with excellent Italian cuisine, this is the place in San Francisco. and I guess a place which has wallpaper of old Adrian Celentano record covers in the restrooms can only be che fico.
