Major disappointment
We couldn't make up our mind on where to go and many restaurants were fully booked so we decided to head to Charlie Palmer. In hindsight I now understand why they had availability when most other places were full...considering Charlie Palmer was one of the early celebrity chefs and a big name in the steak business, his NYC outpost is utterly disappointing. The service, the food, the ambiance, all below par. The service was very inattentive, wasn't very focused, preferred chatting with the hostess, and got orders wrong. The food was mediocre, not that we needed mind-blowing steaks, we just wanted good steaks, and even that bar wasn't reached. So overall not worth the visit, can not recommend this restaurant at all. So many better restaurants in NYC.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic culinary delights worthy of Michelin Star
A great American grill that is hugely popular and deservedly so. The menu caters for all tastes and the ingredients are fresh and delicious. I had the lobster pasta and it was divine and huge portion with a slight spicy taste. Youโll get greeted by an efficient front of house team and the service by the waiters is attentive and impeccable. The food choices include vegan and other dietary needs and worthy of Michelin Star status. Whilst the prices are on the moderate to high, the quality, ambiance and service befit the huge accolades and ratings given. Set in the prime Manhattan midtown location near Times Square. Youโll have a gastronomic feast that will tantalise your tastebuds. You get fresh complimentary breads and the wine selection both by the Glass and Bottle huge. A booking is essential at the usual peak times.

This was the best steak we have ever had! Great food, great ambience, great staff. The food was amazing, great quality and superb options. The bread and butter options served to you as youโre seated were extremely tasty and fresh. Would highly recommend
Be the first to ReplyNice lunch
This restaurant occupies the former space of once Michelin starred Auroele, one of my preferred restaurants in the area. The space still looks the same with high ceiling and tasteful decor. I dropped in for a lunch and the prix fixe menu was good. The tuna tartare was tasty. The steak was perfectly cooked medium rare as requested. Though I am not a fan of steaks in sauce, I found the peppercorn sauce was not overpowering at all. The fries were delicious. Service was pleasant and efficient.
Be the first to ReplyA bit disappointing for the price, but still great steaks
Great steaks and delicious side dishes. Our table ordered several expensive alcoholic beverages and they charged for one soft drink. Kind of prickly that they did that. We tried to order their famous coconut cake but they were sold out. Very expensive meal.
Be the first to ReplyBeware of the "pre- theatre" scam!
I saw a review which said that the Pre theatre dining option was decent value, so I booked online. Upon arrival at the restaurant we were given the menu but no pre theatre special menu. I enquired about this and the waiter stated that "the only special available was the fish special". We didn't have time before the theatre start time or face the humiliation of getting up and walking out so we chose from the standard menu. We had our meal and although the quality was very good the prices were overpriced. My partner had a glass of wine $26! A steak each, 3 sides plus the inevitable gratuity $250. On leaving we were given the check and guess what a card advertising Mother's Day Brunch AND PRE-THEATRE DINING $49 for starter and entree!!! The meal and the whole experience had gone from ok to feeling ripped off!

Our experience was entirely incredible. Jason provided incredible service from the Champaign presentation to the dessert service. If you are celebrating a special occasion you must make this your go to dining location!
Be the first to ReplyGreat dinner and excellent service
We were in NYC over Valentine's Day. The show venue was only a block away from Charlie Palmer's so that's how we randomly ended up there for a Valentine's Day dinner. Staff was great. We were running about 10 minutes late for the reservation, and the hostess was very nice when I called from the car to let her know we were still coming. We were seated in a cozy booth for two. Great service from every single person. We had salads, two steaks with two sides plus the coconut cake for dessert. All the food was delicious. The steaks weren't quite cooked as much as we like when they first arrived, waiter was great about taking them back and cooking it a little more. Only complaint was that then the sides had cooled off when the steaks came back out. Coconut cake is made for 3-4 people, but we ordered it anyone. Delicious cake and again, staff was great about boxing the rest up to go. Overall, a wonderful experience.

Steak was absolutely amazing. And those mashed potatoes ๐ฅฐ. Was a little disappointed that we were offered still or sparkling water, assuming still was free, we ordered still, yet we still paid $6 a bottle for water. Iโd have been totally fine with tap.
Be the first to ReplyGreat theater special
My wife and I went here before a Broadway show. The $49 theater special is amazing. We both had steak frites, with salad. I had two beers and she had two glasses of wine and dinner was $165, plus tip, which we thought was reasonable. The meal was excellent. The service (Nelson A) was fast and efficient. Highly recommend!

Fantastic steak and brilliant service. Overall this restaurant is very good absolutely share sides as thereโs no way youโll finish 2 sides each.
Be the first to ReplyUnforgettable!! Thank you Corwin!!
Having been a loyal patron of every restaurant that Mr. Palmer has opened on both coasts, I somehow was more overwhelmed with my most recent visit in New York. The service was so very attentive, I felt like we were the only people in the restaurant. Wines by the glass offered little tastings prior to selection to make certain that it was the perfect match. This was important I felt. Every dish was superb, perfectly cooked, and beautifully plated. I think why this visit ( and I have had over seventy) to Charleyโs fabulous restaurants) was due to a very young - yet very experienced- and handsome gentleman named Corwin. I believe he may be a manager. Corwin is was so personable, elegant and attentive that despite the reliability of the wonderful kitchen, this special dinner will always be unforgettable!

Thanksgiving lunch was delicious. Especially the sweet potato mash. Oh my worddddd! I do feel that for the price they shouldโve included wine. House wine. For us folks from europe ๐คฃ๐คฃit was very expensive but worth it to finally try a real thanksgiving meal! Good service
Be the first to ReplySpecial Thanksgiving dinner
We had an excellent Thanksgiving meal. The staff was so welcoming and accommodating that we had to move our reservation back and then we were still late because our train was hours late coming from DC. They couldnโt have been nicer about it. Food was delicious, drinks were well made, and we would definitely return.
Be the first to ReplyWao! Great Thanksgiving Dinner
Excellent Restaurant! Great service, attentions and variety of wine selection. The special Thanksgiving Menu, was spectacular. Our first American thanksgiving dinner, outside our country. Exquisite! Never will forget! Thanks to God!

We had dinner in this restaurant twice. Great steaks and sides. One side for 2 people is loads of food! Just off Times Square and across the road from The Knickerbocker Hotel. The deserts are too big - ok. Really nice staff.

We went to the theater and after went to dinner. Our waiter Jay Weisman is informative, animated and a professional in his work. Our experience was just perfect. We enjoyed our anniversary dinner. The food well presented and prepared tasted just right. Easy parking at a garage on the next street. A clean place and everyone is friendly and nice.
Be the first to ReplyI always love Charlie Palmerโs!
My favorite steakhouse in Las Vegas is Charlie Palmerโs in the Four Seasons. Unfortunately, it is still getting ready to re-open, so I jumped at the opportunity to dine at his spot when on vacation in NYC, as he has several there.
The tartare appetizer and the meal were equally amazing, and I even spotted Mr. Palmer himself in his chef jacket moving about the dining room. I inquired to the server if that was the man himself, and he acknowledged it. Charlie Palmer has an impressive collection of restaurants, and his restaurant provides occasional deals and values to its clientele.
Nice pre theater menu
We wanted the quintessential Broadway experience for the newbie who went with me and we got it. The food was cooked very well, perfect temperature on the steak. The waitstaff was attentive and there is a nice wine list. The check took a long time which was stressful for a pre theater dinner but we enjoyed it otherwise. I would recommend it for certain
Be the first to ReplyExcellent service, food disappointed
Location was convenient for pre-Broadway dinner and server made sure we stayed on schedule. Let us split the Caesar, which gave us a good-sized starter. We asked for medium rare filet mignonette, but they were rare and not warm. Mushrooms were not what we expected (warm, earthy, flavorful accompaniment to the steak) but pale and bland. Bread was not warm. Despite excellent service, food was a little disappointing.
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced, cold food
One entree was served cold (braised beef) the other (steak) was flavorless. Service was slow. Overpriced.would have rather had dinner at the Texas Roadhouse.
Be the first to ReplyA GO-TO Spot!
Going to a Broadway show, so wanted a restaurant close to the theater. Extremely happy with this restaurant. The Spicy Lobster Pasta was delicious and the service was superb. If you have room for dessert, definitely order the cheesecake.
Will definitely return.
Perfect From Start to Finish
A wonderful dining experience. Our server Joe was extremely friendly, prompt, and professional. J.D. kindly took the time to share local information about where to go, see, do. The food was prepared perfectly โ filet mignon for my wife and salmon for me which melted on my fork. Without a doubt one of the best dinners we have had in NYC.
