Really appreciate the simplicity and ambiance of this restaurant. Nice location and our server was great. They have a little specialty store right next door which my wife really enjoyed. There's even a gelato spot which isn't theirs, but it's a few doors away that you can go to after your meal

Came here in June 2022 for dinner during our trip to Washington DC and this was perhaps the most disappointing meal that we had all trip. We ordered two tagliolini pastas (sunchoke, basil pesto, parmigiano) and one funghi (parmesan crรจme brรปlรฉe, morel mushrooms, rosemary broth). Our biggest issue with this place was just how long we had to wait after ordering to get our food. We sat down at the restaurant at 7:10 PM, ordered by 7:15 PM, the funghi came out at 8:02 PM, and the tagliolini pastas came out at 8:20 PM. I can't remember the last time I went to a restaurant that made me wait almost an hour to get any of my food. After waiting for so long, we were absolutely starving and we were done eating by around 8:30 PM. The check said 8:41 PM. We spent WAY more time sitting there bored, hungry, and waiting, than we did enjoying the food. The tagliolini pastas were $26 each, which was expensive but not the absolute worst. We were very surprised that the funghi was $22--we probably finished it in 2 bites. We would not have ordered it if we had known how tiny it would be (see picture). The service was fine, although a bit impersonal since they barely came by our table. But most importantly, we did not leave feeling full, even though we had spent $100+ on our meal for two people, and had to grab a quick bite elsewhere after. Centrolina just wasn't worth our time or money.
Be the first to ReplyOverrated, underwhelming, and disappointing.
It was surprising to hear talk of Centrolina chasing a Michelin Star when they still have yet to figure out the basics more than 5 years after opening. Food: The food has potential to be absolutely amazing, 2 out of the 10 times you visit. The other 8 times you should expect to send your food back, leave hungry, or it eat something incredibly underwhelming. The food is also lacking any sort of creativity. Be prepared for an overpriced "Italian" restaurant with small portions, basic dishes, and a disappointing plate. Service: Someone should sign the staff up for hospitality boot camp... Isn't Marriott's headquarters down the road?? Do not come here expecting warm Italian grandmother hospitality. Atmosphere: I'll keep this short - vanilla. There's nothing special about the design and the chairs are less than comfortable. Would not recommend unless you want to spend a lot of money for a small underwhelming dish, terrible hospitality and customer service, a bad back from the chairs.

I've been to Centrolina a few times, mostly for drinks, and once for dinner. Centrolina is a cool Italian spot in my neighborhood that I enjoy coming to from time to time. I'm not huge on heavy Italian food, but fortunately, the portions here are light. The bar service is always spot on and the atmosphere is pretty cool. The main reason I don't frequent here is that it can get extremely busy based on its location near the convention center, lots of businesses, and just tourists in general. Usually its full of business people when I walk by and getting a bar seat can be a huge challenge sometimes. I had the Gross Rombo for dinner the other night and enjoyed it, but it was such a small portion (and $44) that I had to order another entree and went with Neri for $34. So I spent $78 to fill myself up, not including the wine. When it was all said and done, I spent $134, which is more than I spent at Rania down the street for prix-fixe at a Michelin star restaurant. That is another reason I don't frequent here even though I live here. I find the prices to be far too high for what you get.

I made a mix up with the time change and showed up an hour early for my reservation, and did not realize it until the next day when I checked my calendar. But staff very graciously never said a word and just seated me when I showed up. That is pretty impressive! The swordfish was amazing, as well as the dessert. Service was great and staff was attentive and gracious. When I return to DC, I will come back here for sure!

The service at Centrolina was amazing! I came on a busy Thursday night without a reservation and we were quickly accommodated. Once seated our waiter was warm and welcoming. He provided great recommendations and continued to check on us throughout our meal. Every bite was amazing and they had a great selection of mocktails. The vibe was buzzy but not to loud to enjoy a conversation at the table. Definitely a spot I will visit again.
Be the first to ReplyVery clean.
Bartender was attentive and polite. Food was good. Small menu but it had vegi options. A little over priced but what do you expect for DC.

The food in Centrolina has been consistently good throughout the years. Service is excellent, non intrusive yet attentive. Our server recommended most of the things we ordered. The tuna crudo was so fresh, perfectly seasoned. The beet salad was refreshing. Branzino was on point as always. The h

While I was visiting DC my friend took me here for dinner because it's centrally located in DC down a cute block of town and is known for its homemade Italian pasta. I wasn't wow'd here. The average pasta dish was about $30 which is very overpriced- I live in a big city and this is even a lot. The bread and olive oil was fine. We also split a salad - it was fine as well. And the pasta just lacked flavor and salt. I am assuming they don't salt their water when cooking the pasta. The homemade noddles themselves were good, but I've had and made myself much better noodles. The sauces were blah. I just wasn't thrilled by the flavors here. Would I come back, probably not. But the staff was kind and the service was good. Pros: staff, service, location Cons: lack of flavor, prices
Be the first to ReplyVery bad service.
We waited about 20 min for the waitress and never showed up to take our order, so we decided to leave the restaurant.

I bumped into this place following the cherry blossom themed overhead lanterns while walking around DC. The area was very springy, and I saw Centrolina offered coffee and small bites -- exactly what my partner and I were looking for! I opted for a gluten free slice of almond olive oil cake and he went for an americano. The americano just tasted like any typical coffee, so it was pretty ...whelming? (Not overwhelming, not underwhelming LOL) however, the olive oil cake was a different story. Being the only gluten free option when I went in, I'm happy that it was super moist with a notes of lemon and topped with a bit of sweetness coming from the powdered sugar. YUM! NOTE: there was also only ONE unisex toilet, and there were 5 people ahead of me. For the amount of people in the restaurant, I would've hoped there would be at least 2 toilets? Cute bathroom nonetheless.I did feel a little unsafe since there was a homeless man that went in and started getting into people's spaces asking for money which made me feel uncomfortable. Not sure if I would go back for any reason, but thankful for the cake!

My aunt from out of town flew in and invited me out to lunch. Was kind of surprise that she would pick an italian place for lunch. My inclination with pasta is usually for dinner but she insisted that this place was really good. The place is small and cozy. And their menu differ daily upon the chef and the ingredients available. The food was really really good. Everything tasted fresh and was quite yummy. The place is a little but on the pricier side but in saying that I would consider eating here again. This would be an impressive lunch date place.

They get their ingredients from local farms and change their menu often based on what's in season. We ordered paccheri with braised octopus and charred chicken pallard. Both dishes were excellent. The braised octopus was juicy and tender and the chicken was very flavorful. The restaurant is a bit on the smaller size, which gives a cozy and intimate vibe. I have nothing to complain about services. Overall, we had a pleasant experience here and would definitely go back.

Everything I ate here was delicious From the hand made pasta to the delish appetizers and the BREADS!!! The cocktails were spot on as well.

Great food--particularly the pastas and the desserts. The atmosphere is contemporary and upscale. It's clean, friendly, and has a professional vibe.Altogether delicious, if slightly on the pricier side of things. Have been several times and would absolutely go back.

OMG... first time at Centrolina last night and will definitely be back. Had the octopus app and swordfish carpaccio app... not even a huge octopus fan, but would order again.. texture and charring was superb. For entree we had the Bronzino and was the best I've had.. dessert had the pan a cotta with Caramelized bananas... soooo good! Easiest 5 stars I've ever given.

My family and I loved this restaurant! The atmosphere is very nice and the service is great. The portions sizes are perfect. I definitely recommend getting the bread for an appetizer, it was really good! Highly recommend this place.

Be the first to ReplyThis place puts an automatic (not optional and undisclosed)
This place puts an automatic (not optional and undisclosed) 15% charge on purchases for an "employee wellness fund" that doesn't go to employees directly. I called and asked for clarification. They also ask for tip on top of that, without indicating that you've already been charged 15%. I'm all for supporting local businesses but please do not try to trick customers into contributing to these things with opaque mandatory service fees. It leaves a very bad taste in your mouth. To make it worse, this was on the market side - not the restaurant. Pay your workers a living wage.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was good, but the evening lacked customer service.
We didn't have a whole lot of interaction with our server. Not sure what he was off doing, but we had trouble finding up and didn't come back to check on us. So we paid and left as soon as we finished. Food was good. It was a late dinner, so we didn't order a lot. BUT i was definitely starving. I must mentioned that I'm not a fan of Italian restaurants that charge for bread and olive oil. Our party of two ordered a few items to share; Melanzane (crispy eggplant), octopus, and the scallops. The crispy eggplant was so good. It's like eating chips but better! The octopus and scallops were pretty standardLocated in a great spot, but not a lot of parking in the area. Definitely stick with metro or walk.

We came for a work dinner and it is in a shopping street/area, and walking distance from the Conrad, one of my fav places to stay in DC. I ordered sea scallops, which I think could have been ordered anywhere, but I can't wait to go back to try their mushroom pasta. The service is excellent, and they have great wine options! They also have a small private dining room inside a a very comfortable lovely square bar. The appetizers, including their cheese mushroom brรปlรฉe and octopus were delicious. They have an assortment of Italian desserts. Can't wait to go back!
Be the first to ReplyI came here for dinner with friends.
We started with the funghi and crispy eggplant appetizers. As a mushroom lover, I really enjoyed the funghi dish ($22) because it's got all of my favorite things: tender mushrooms on a custardy bed of parmesan in a flavorful rosemary broth. The crispy eggplant ($16) was light and crispy - chip-like - coated with a little bit of honey to add some sweetness and almonds for extra crunch and complexity. I would order both appetizers again. For my entree, I ordered the Reginette (squid ink pasta, cod, crab, uni butter, bottarga). The reginette ($34) came with three pieces (relatively small portions, but understandable for fine dining) and had good seafood flavor which paired decadently with the rich uni butter sauce. The pasta was on the chewy side though; I would've liked the pasta to be cooked a little longer. I also got to try the gnocchi (served in a white bolognese). I enjoyed the light and fluffy texture of the gnocchi ($26).There was a good pacing to the meal. While our waiter mostly let us keep to ourselves (we were seated in a private back room), we were checked on enough by other staff members to clear dishes and refill drinks. Overall, we had a nice Italian dinner in City Center, but I wouldn't go out of my way for these pasta dishes.

Drinks are amazing. If you want Italian, go here! It was the first but best dinner of my few days in DC.

Have been here once before and loved it but tonight was disappointing! The host took a solid few minutes to look up/acknowledge us when we came in, and our server was unfriendly and hurried (I realize he might have had a lot of tables but it's still important to spend some time with each--that's your job). One of the reasons we enjoyed it so much previously was because of the fantastic service. The folks filling our water tonight were fantastic and kind, however! Also, our food took a VERY long time to come out so that by the time we got it we were ravenous and couldn't take the time to enjoy it. Overall, disappointing experience and probably won't be back anytime soon
