Casa Dani New York Reviews from The Last Year
I was pleasantly surprised and pleased with my recent visit
I was pleasantly surprised and pleased with my recent visit to Casa Dani. To begin, it's tucked away in a corner of the Citizens market in Manhattan West. I made a reservation for an early dinner at 5:30pm - probably didn't need it. Many open tables other than a few corporate outings. We ordered quite a bit - all pictured below. Everything was delicious. The standouts were the oxtail brioche, tuna belly, and the hanger steak. The dishes are $$$ but the entire experience was delightful. I feel that the location of this place may be overshadowed by Ci Siamo and Zou Zous, but Casa Dani may be just as good if not better. Definitely give it a try!
Food was delicious, I enjoyed the tapas and small shared
Food was delicious, I enjoyed the tapas and small shared plates. The tuna crudo was small portion but yummy. The service was great, they refilled out water multiple times however there was no host to seat us for 10 mins so I finally walked inside to find a server or waitress to help me get seated. The ambiance is beautifully decorated and bright inside.
Wonderful meal, food and service all around! I was
Wonderful meal, food and service all around! I was initially not overly excited about this spot however after trying many of their dishes, I am a believer! We came with a large group of 7, it was disappointed as the table they gave us was a long table with 3 to fit 7 persons, basically should be 6 person however when I mentioned to our waiter, he quickly spoke with the host and was able to attached an additional table to our end which made the space more flexible. Otherwise it would be cramped. We ordered many dishes, tapas, whole fish and the paella. Every single dish had amazing flavors and oh my god, the branzino was the best! I was worried as the branzino was 2+ pounds and usually with this size fish, the meat gets hard however they cooked it in black salt and the meat was so tender and sweet! Some of the tapas that were amazing- Calamari frito Croquetas Octopus Broccolini Fluke crudo And Tuna! Tuna belly and the tuna carpaccio! Both were amazing. Our party loved the tuna belly more, super fresh with a side of avocado Jamon iberico Also got the Caesar salad which is made table side! We also got the marisco paella, which honestly was the only dish our group did not rave about. It was dry, and barely had any seafood. For a dish that is over $70, it really was skimpy with the seafood. I do not recommend the paella. Overall, the service was excellent and all of the dishes were fantastic, minus the paella.
where do I even begin? with the mice throughout the whole
where do I even begin? with the mice throughout the whole establishment. Bathroom and kitchen included, the chicken that is deep frozen for 6 months then reheated and served or lastly how all steaks served are undercooked regardless of order or all fries served soggy, oily & dense ? Highly would NOT recommend eating here , my personal recommendation is to RUN ! And call the health department !
For the prices I thought the food was okay.
Marisco Paella barely had any seafood. It was fine but mainly rice for $78. Sorry I am more than happy to pay it's not about the money but in exchange I want a memorable meal. The decor is very pretty which is then derailed as it's located in a food court.
I wanted to like this place so much better.
First of all the entrance is not clearly marked so I had a little trouble finding it. We were seated and promptly placed our cocktail order and ordered a couple of menu items. We probably waited 20 minutes for our drinks to come and when they did one was made improperly. The food arrived before the drinks which to me is a big faux pas in the restaurant business. The Caesar salad, prepared table side was so overdressed that we couldn't eat it. We ordered a steak and a bottle of wine to split both of which were very good. When the bill came they didn't charge us for the bottle of wine which I brought to the servers attention. These servers work hard and I would never want someone to get in trouble for a mistake like that. He was very gracious and apologetic. This restaurant needs to do better. They weren't even that busy.
It was the third time I went to Casa Dani.
And I invited my friend to come with me this time since he had never tried before. There was a very big party there in the restaurant. So the waitresses seem to only serve that large party. We were there 7pm, and the server didn't come to take our order till 7:30. We ordered around 8 dishes and was noticed that 3 of them has already sold out cuz of the big party. And that was only 7:30 at night. We need to pick replacement dishes. During our dinner, the waitress only came to refill the water once. We need to ask them to refill every single time. And the food there was not as good as before for sure. The most ridicules part was that we almost finished our meal except one Paella called Squid Ink before 8:30. The whole table was empty with only the water cups. And no one felt strange to check if there were something not being served. Till 8:50, the Paella was still not served on the table. We asked the server and the manger came to say it would be ready in other 15 mins while one and half hour had already passed from when we placed our order. The manager stated that It was because that the big party has ordered the Paella and fulfilled all the cooking range which I don't think it was the case. However, we still gave them the time to finish the dish. After 15 mins, it comes. BUT, the rice is NOT FULLY COOKED AT ALL!! And we told the manger such situation and he said he would check with the chef. And guess what did he said when he's back. He said they would continue cook it for 3 more mins. THEY JUST ADMITTED!!! We felt really disappointed and cancel the dish. It was a so TERRIBLE experience I've ever had in Casa Dani which I used to love this restaurant so much.

This fine dining restaurant is tucked in a building in Hudson Yards. This restaurant is beautiful and service was incredible! All of our dishes were delicious. The fried calamari was served with dots of squid ink. The chicken was tender and cooked to perfection. Broccolini was charred to perfection. They have a very extensive wine list and a full bar. I will definitely recommend this place for fine spanish dishes.
Service and ambiance (interior design is amazing) are great.
Very professionally served, eye-popping establishment in the sleek Hudson Yards area. For food, we did the tasting menu. The gallete (fried cheese thing), tuna tartare with avocado, were very good. The paella was rather disappointing, as it was not flavorful, the edges were not crispy, and toppings were stingy. Rice was very big and undercooked. Just very very disappointing given that the preceding smaller courses were good. Wine selection is pretty awful here. Cheap bottles marked up 5-6x. Not sure why they are safeguarding that aspect so much.
Came back the second time to try more food.
I reordered croquetas and pulpo and they were still on point. The 2 paellas were pretty good, less salty than last time. The rice is the pork one is a little harder than the pulpo. The server showed us the pulpo paella, then took it away without saying anything, which would be fine if they were going to put on a plate to serve us immediately. But they were waiting for the pork paella to be done to serve both together, so we waited a good 20-30m to get the pulpo after they showed us. In that case, would have preferred them to ask if we want the pulpo out first or let us know what they were gonna do. The branzino baked in black salt was quite normal, not worth the price imo. The tuna dishes are okay. I heard that tuna tartare not suppose to has a strong tuna taste, but this place has.

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
