Service was good, food was lukewarm and bland.
I feel like a sucker for going into an empty restaurant that looked abandoned from the never-washed windows.

They added 20% gratuity fee when we only have 3 people and it was not listed on the menu. Usually mandatory gratuity fee is for party of 6, they probably think we are tourist and overcharge us. Their service and food did not worth that 20% fee. No wonder this place is empty on a Friday night. Ripped off.

Margaritas were on point, every dish was excellent, possibly the best queso fundido we've ever had, friendly and attentive service, upscale yet casual vibe. My new favorite Mexican spot in Manhattan. Highly recommend. Will definitely come back soon!
Be the first to ReplyArrived at 10:45 for food, they close at midnight.
Told the kitchen is closed. Unfortunate. If you don't want to honor your post an hours, then post the correct hours.... Close an hour early on a Friday night is ridiculous. That's too bad I was looking forward to it. there's a million choices in this city and they just lost theirs with me.

Great guac and tacos! Got a seat immediately at the bar on a Friday night! Food came out nice and quick too. Was not drinking that evening, but the bar looks like a very nice selection of cocktails and many nice Mezcal selections.

Overall all the food was flavorful and fresh! The carne asada tacos were delicious. The burrito was also delicious! I only wish that they mentioned on the menu that the street corn was on the cob cause I wouldn't have ordered it if I knew that. The service was good and everyone was attentive. Nice ambiance and a cool spot for dinner or late lunch!

I got the carne asada tacos and the Mexican street corn.

.. just walked in and was seated immediately. The place was not packed. Good music and quick and efficient service. Waiter came over took our drink and food orders and everything came out very fast. Constantly being checked on by all staff which is always great. Food was delicious we had the guacamole , quesadilla and the burrito. Price was on the higher side but we'll worth it. Decor was nice, seats were comfortable, dimmed lights and music made for the perfect combination. Family friendly. Will be back.

I went here this weekend for one of my friends birthday celebrations. We started off with the tableside. Margarita, which was strong and very delicious. A few people at my table didn't like the margarita, but that's because they aren't fans of lime.. I had another drink, I forgot the name but it was there take on a pina colada, it was tasty and fresh..for an appetizer, we had the guacamole. I personally enjoyed the guacamole, it was seasoned just right and very fresh. The pomegranate seeds were definitely not for me, texture wise, but everyone else at the table really enjoyed the guacamole with the pomegranate seeds included. For the main course, I got the Carne Asada tacos. They were delicious, ask the waiter for the table side salsa's to try on your tacos (we used some to finish the chips off from the guac). My favorites were the spicy and the roasted tomato salsa. The music at the restaurant was Latin and Latin trap, and I thoroughly enjoyed that. The staff was very sweet and service was quick. I do think that they are a bit pricey for the size of the portions served, but the food is really good quality.

And amazing service. Also drinks are strong! Highly recommend, especially for larger groups/parties
Be the first to ReplyFirst time at a cozy Mexican restaurant in the Soho area.
The outside does look fancy and inviting. We came here for a birthday party of 36 people. My friend booked for a Family Style Pre-Fixed Menu for $65 (alcohol not included). It is difficult to get a restaurant to secure a large party of this scale. We had to be seated at different tables (3 separate ones). Food wise everything was fantastic. What we had was the Shrimp Tacos, Tamales, Pinto Beans Guacamole, Seared Salmon, Churro Ice Cream, and the Chimichurri Steak. My deductions had to go with the portions offered to us. It is difficult to serve a party of 36 people but what I would've liked was to enjoy more heartier portions of the food. The other 2 tables was offered a nice amount of food but our table, at most each diner only had 2 bites to sample from each dish. And for the price we paid, it was hefty to pay over $100 for a small amount of food. It was my friend's birthday so I told myself the contributions was going towards his special day. But as a diner, I was expecting more. Maybe if I came on a small intimate dinner with a few diners, perhaps the portions would be better. Just the pre-fixed menu experience wasn't doing it for me.

Honestly this place was super great!!! I got the tempura battered fish tacos and I loved them they were amazingggg, I even wished they had more fish in them to get some more goodness! The spicy marg was also fantastic, definitely the best spicy marg I've had recently and I have to say this might be my new favorite spot to get them! The drink wasn't spicy in an overwhelming way where your mouth catches on fire but spicy in a subdued smoky, perfectly blended kinda way and the strength of the drink was perfect!!! You could tell it was strong but it didn't taste like you were just drinking straight up liquor, having a much better perfectly balanced taste between the marg flavor and the alcohol instead, and it went down super smooth!! When I tell you this drink was mixed so well I mean it, I was super impressed, and I got mine with the mezcal preparation (they asked if I wanted tequila or mezcal) and it was sooo good!!! I highly recommend mezcal in the margs for a smokier taste. Overall highly recommend this place!! Food was great, drinks were amazing and the decor/ambiance/servers were all fantastic!!! 10/10.
Be the first to ReplyGreat spot for dinner with friends.
Those spicy margarita pitchers are dangerous! Strong and worth every penny. The queso fundido and guac were both excellent. We all got different tacos and loved them all. The spot is busy and the staff was very nice. The food takes quite a while to come out, so I wouldn't come here if you're starving and don't have patience to wait. It is worth the wait, though!

I still regret not being able to finish my plate of birria tacos. Need to go back asap!
Be the first to ReplyMy friends and I came here for dinner.
It's definitely a really cute environment though their music was a tad too loud. You had to literally be yelling to even somewhat hear the person across from you which got super tiring. It would've been nice to sit outside instead. In terms of the food, we tried the Guacamole and Queso Fundido for the table. Both were yummy! The queso seemed kind of too liquidy at first, but the key was to scoop some up with your fork to really get all of it on the tortilla. For my main, I got the Carne Asada Tacos, which was delicious! The flavor combos were great.I will say this place is definitely pricey and not somewhere that you should drink a lot at like we did lol... Our total bill came out to about $450 for 5 people. We got 3 pitchers which were $68 each. We tried the Spicy Margarita, Mango and Passion Fruit. I really liked the spicy and passionfruit ones. The mango one was really strong tasting and had a lot of pulp at the bottom. Overall, a fun experience and good food despite the loud noise and high prices.

The food is better than most Mexican food I had in Mexico! I got the Chicken Quesadilla ($15), which was nice and cheesy. The shredded chicken inside was definitely better than the typical chunks of chicken, as the shreds are spread evenly and make for a much easier eating experience without things falling out. The Carne Asada Tacos ($18) were delicious and in an authentic Mexican style. The beef was flavorful and tender. I also got a Papito Mojito cocktail ($16), which was refreshingly minty and fruity. The prices were decent given the portion sizes and quality. The interior has unique and modern wooden decor with a lively atmosphere and dimmed lighting. The service speed was quick and our water was friendly and attentive.Overall, Casa Bocado has everything you'd want in a Mexican restaurant: tasty authentic Mexican food, a great selection of drinks, and a fun atmosphere. If you're looking for a Mexican restaurant in NYC, this should be near or at the top of your list!

We chose to go to this restaurant on a whim to celebrate my boyfriends birthday. The drinks were awesome, the queso fundido was TO DIE FOR, and the churro sundae was amazing. The best part was that the servers were kind enough to read my reservation note and put a candle on the dessert for him and even gave us free birthday shots. Amazing hospitality! My only comment is that the elote/street corn was relatively tasteless, but everything else was amazing.

Food was good if you're looking for decent Mexican in the area. That being said, there are better places in the city with a similar vibe. We had their guacamole and tacos and felt that they could have used more flavor. The food was very fast and the staff was friendly, I would probably come back just for drinks. One big surprise - their French fries are amazing. They were necessary after the few drinks and totally hit the spot.

This place is so pretty! Everything we ate was yummy, and the man who helped us was sooo nice and accommodating! He let me charge my phone lol. The drinks were amazing. Kind of a small menu, but reasonable prices and tasted great.

Came specifically to celebrate my fiancé's birthday and it was so good. The special was the empanadas - they tasted great. The quesadillas had the perfect amount of salsa and the tacos were so good. They were slightly spicy for me but still great. Service here was so good as well - the waiter let us know how great the house tequila actually is and did not try to upsell us.

As a resident of San Diego, CA I confirm the guacamole here is as real and delicious as it gets. You will also be tempted to hide a few chips in a baggie for later. The food was authentic, fresh and full of flavor. The atmosphere was colorful and upbeat with spacious nice outdoor seating. The management and staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. Never waited to order a drink and also never felt rushed to leave as my friend and I were catching up after not seeing each other for a year. Perfect spot for any occasion.

Found Casa Bocado on Yelp while looking for a central dinner spot for some friends that were coming into town. Easily made a reservation on Resy for a weekday around 7:30pm but didn't seem necessary. From beginning to end, had a great experience with food to customer service to ambiance. It's a restaurant that's connected to the sohotel, but still has a separate entrance. The inside is super cute - mid century modern, but colorful feel. Latin music playing but not too loud. Definitely good for a dinner/drinks night with friends. We started off with a round of drinks. While they have a list of specials, including margaritas, I started with a glass of Pinot ($15). We also shared a large portion of chips and guacamole, which came with mild, medium, and spicy salsa. It was delicious. The menu isn't huge but it didn't seem like you could go wrong. I got the chicken tinga tacos ($14) and they were bomb. Corn tortillas with all of the fixings. My friends got the other tacos options on them menu and all seemed to enjoy theirs as well.Service was also fantastic. We never waited too long for drinks or food or just to be checked on. Our server was also just really nice. He even let us split the check four ways.Definitely a good nicer Mexican spot in the lower east side. I'd definitely be down to come back, especially for a margarita. I definitely made a mistake.
