Be the first to ReplyCarne Mare is the love child of two iconic New York City
Carne Mare is the love child of two iconic New York City restaurants, Carbone and Santina, and it certainly lives up to its impressive lineage. This waterfront gem, located at Pier 17, has quickly established itself as a must-visit upscale dining destination, thanks to its spectacular return under the guidance of Chef Carmellini. The moment you step inside Carne Mare, you'll be greeted by plush banquettes and a warm, inviting atmosphere. But it's the food that truly steals the show here. Prepare to have your taste buds blown away by the phenomenal dishes on offer. Let's start with the house bread, a showstopper in its own right. Warm, fragrant with herbs and cheese, it sets the tone for the incredible culinary experience that awaits. The grilled oysters, served on a bed of seashells, are a sight to behold and taste even better. The smoky flavors and delicate texture make them an absolute delight. If you're a fan of fish, the trout with giardinara is a must-try. This dish showcases the chef's mastery in combining flavors and textures. The savory fish, perfectly cooked, pairs beautifully with the tangy and vinegary giardinara. It's a match made in seafood heaven. For a side dish, don't miss out on the thick asparagus with gremolare. The freshness of the asparagus shines through, complemented by the flavorful gremolare. And if you're a mushroom lover, the mushroom marsala will blow your mind. It's rich, earthy, and utterly delicious. You'll find yourself craving more after each bite. In addition to the outstanding food, the service at Carne Mare is top-notch. The staff is friendly, professional, and super attentive, ensuring that your dining experience is nothing short of exceptional. All of this culinary excellence comes at a reasonable price, with our total bill amounting to $83. Considering the quality and creativity of the dishes, it's definitely worth every penny. In conclusion, Carne Mare is a casual yet upscale restaurant that impresses on all fronts. From the phenomenal food to the impeccable service, it's a dining experience that will leave you wanting more. Whether you're a seafood lover or simply appreciate inventive and fresh cuisine, this is a place you don't want to miss.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious decadent meal.
Baked oysters amazing, special cod cheeks great... even the wedge was special... but the stars of the show are the 2 giant aged steaks for the table... a porterhouse and a tomahawk aged I think. 45 days and just extraordinary. Veal chop was meh but the steaks were world class. Good service and great evening! Chocolate cake also fab!

Be the first to ReplyDined during the lunch hour on a Friday.
It was quiet and relaxing. The 16oz ribeye was amazing - Star of the meal! Perfect temperature ( med rare ), tender, and lightly seasoned to bring out the flavor of the meat. The rustic potatoes had a wonderful texture- crisp outside and tender inside. It had a little too much rosemary for our taste so will request less of that spice next time. Had to save room for dessert. The 17 -layer chocolate cake was beautiful but not my " best one ever"...still worth the try and caps off a satisfying meal.

Absolutely fantastic dinner, we were seated by the window overlooking the water. The wait staff was extremely helpful & guided us w/our menu selections. We also ordered the baked Alaska for dessert, definite must try. Everything was exceptional including the service, food & ambiance.

Excellent, food, service and atmosphere. Perhaps a bit pricey but worth it.
Be the first to ReplyCame here with my boyfriend, we rarely get time off
Came here with my boyfriend, we rarely get time off together because he is a Doctor and i'm a nurse, but we sat at the bar for dinner and drinks. Let me just tell you the bartender was so sassy and unprofessional to both my boyfriend and I, very snarky just seemed as if she didn't want to be there. My boyfriend tried ordering a cocktail and asked for no lemon in it, and she was like "well it's not gonna come out good at all" so he asked to substitute lemon for something else and she goes, "we have other options on our drink menu without lemon just try one of those because". Food was great but was really looking to have a nice night with my boyfriend and the bartender was honestly just super mean and not sure welcoming or warming. Like took our drink menus away after one drink and when I asked for it back she rolled her eyes, so strange. Hope she fixes that attitude. Have never experienced anything like that haha
Be the first to ReplyI am seriously bookmarking this place.
Last minute find. I wanted a place in South Street Seaport as I hadn't been there in almost twenty years and we chose this one just because of location. We go out to eat often, so it is hard to find something that surpasses our expectations and this place did just that. Service was impeccable. Seated quickly, waitress came by quickly and often. She noticed I didn't like my wine and gave me recommendations for another one. We had the mozzarella and caviar stick and seriously could have just had that - BEST THING EVER. The Parmesan and garlic bread was fresh and delicious. My nephews had the steak with chimmichuri sauce and ate every last bit. My husband and I had the halibut steak and sea bass. Initially we thought we had too much food but no food was left behind. For sides we had the apparatus and polenta and we all agreed were exceptional. My husband also enjoyed his gin and brusca drink. Would definitely come back and recommend

Food was amazing fresh delicious and service was personal and attentive without being overwhelming. Great noise level- not quiet but Tables spaced well apart so you came really enjoy the company you're with. BUT know that this place isn't a real bargain. We ate lightly and had a couple of drinks each and with a well deserved 20% tip the bill hit $630 for 5 people. Not bad but not the "bargain" we were told. Many Apps are big and more than shareable such as Shishito peppers, polenta, and Cesar salad. Deserts also very large. All in all- totally worth it. BTW gIn & brusco cocktail was AMAZING and I'm not a gin drinker EVER. Trust me - try it.

Food - good but pretty standard for steak in NYCAmbiance - Friday night was 60% bridge and tunnel Service - 0/5, took 30min to get table, 60 min after sitting to get mains, staff did not offer anything to make up for it. And then server miss portioned the steaks and said "sorry bro you got unlucky" Massive pass given location, price and amount of better steak/chop houses in this city.

Carne mare is by far the best steak house in Manhattan! The Gorgonzola cured wagyu strip loin is to die for ! Polenta is also beyond delicious!

Carne Mare is one of those places you go to if: (i) you are dining with a corporate card, (ii) you want to spend, and/or (iii) you want to dress up and impress. The crowd is a mix of corporates and bling, and the restaurant keeps up with the Joneses by being as upmarket and as extravagant as its patrons' deep pockets. Regarding the food, the sides are as worthy of your stomach space as the mains, I have never seen salad tossed sky-high with such gusto as the way it is done at Carne Mare, and while everyone talks about the "Gorgonzola-Cured Wagyu Striploin," whichever cut of meat you choose, you can't go wrong at Carne Mare. As for dessert, there are two desserts you must not miss. The first is the "Lemon Sorbet" ($10), which is imperative as a palate cleanser between steak and dessert. And after you have sufficiently digested and cleansed, that "17 Layer Espresso Chocolate Cake" ($18) is like a 17-step stairway to heaven...@dessertcorrespondents

We had one of the most enjoyable meals I've had in a long time at Carne Mare last week. The space is absolutely beautiful, with lovely nautical touches and a classy but not stuff elegance. It's at a beautiful location by the water and Pier 17. Everything was terrific, from the cocktails to the service to the food. Everyone made us feel welcome and well taken care of. The mozzarella sticks with caviar were such a fun treat and absolutely delicious. The veal chop was perfectly cooked. My Dad had the prime rib (which is limited, fyi) and it was cooked perfectly, with so much juiciness and rich flavor. The cake? Outrageous. Just one of the great nights, and I'll definitely be coming back soon.
Be the first to ReplyI had a reservation for a friends birthday on a Thursday
I had a reservation for a friends birthday on a Thursday night at 7 pm. The restaurant has two floors, ground floor and the second floor. The ground floor was pretty empty when we got seated, however, the ambiance was very nice - gave off fancy and costly vibes. Our waiter tended to us very quickly with the food and drink menus. We ended up getting the mozz sticks with caviar for appetizers and there was free bread with garlic and parm for the table. The bread was amazing, pulls apart and very light. We got the porterhouse for a party of 3, broccolini, and potatoes on the side. It was a good amount of food for 3, the porterhouse was delicious, tender and juicy! The broccolini and potatoes wasn't anything special but great as sides. Overall, it was a heavy bill, but great service and delicious steak!
Be the first to ReplyThe most hovering service to the point that when a sugar
The most hovering service to the point that when a sugar packet was emptied, they leaned over for the empty packet. Felt they were watching to whisk away the plates as we were almost finished. No privacy as someone seemed on top of us constantly. There also seemed to be a language barrier with almost every server which was very frustrating. Prices are high. too far back from the street with no parking close. The handicap person in our group had a long walk from the street. Pretty setting on second floor.

Steakhouse in seaport that has a beautiful interior and will for sure impress.2 months later, we are still dreaming about the bread, perfectly fluffy and absolutely melts in your mouth. Come here for the bread and the ambiance. Food:The bread - complimentary and 10/10. legit we're still thinking about these pillowy goodness Chocolate Cake - iconic 17 layered cake Mushrooms- surprisingly good!Potatoes- good but not super memorable Gorgonzola aged steak - 10/10 The gorgonzola aged steak stuck out for us and came recommended by the server. Would recommend just getting this for the meat and order some other items for a more balanced meal. Service: Well trained staff but also overall a bit slow. The kitchen took a long time with the food to the point that our server came to ask if we wanted any drinks as we were waiting for a while. We thought he was offering to comp us due to the long wait for food, but it ended up on the bill. We didn't mind but just felt that with how he worded it, they probably should have been comped. Nice fancy bathroom, make sure to check it out!
Be the first to ReplyIf it's a nice day sit outside otherwise the upstairs
If it's a nice day sit outside otherwise the upstairs dining room for dinner is stunning. The service is on point here. And the food with French surprises are simply outstanding. The caviar and sticks are a must order every time. I will definitely come back for this experience again.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic dinner with an amazing view.
They were so lovely and attentions to us. I highly recommend the meat dishes and chocolate cake.
Be the first to ReplySteak was great, experience was not.
Not friendly; waitress never returned after making it clear they have a cocktail cut-off time (apparently 3pm for brunch which I've never experienced before) and never asked us how we were doing -- busboys did.For there to be only 3-4 other tables in a two-level restaurant, we left feeling quite unwelcome here and will not return.
Be the first to ReplyI don't give many of these.
And it's where amazingly delicious and executed food, meets STELLAR service. Having it at this level is what will bring my wallet back here anytime the occasion calls. We had about a good bit of the menu: dozen oysters, mozzarella sticks w/ caviar, salad w/ egg mimosa, wagyu beef tartare, seared haddock, lobster pasta, mushroom marsala, and 17 layer chocolate cake. What was impressive was how thoughtful they spread out the drop of each dish. A true mark of great dining experience. One of the worst things service can do is drop your entree while you are still enjoying your appetizer and conversation. Carne Mare hit service on every note of our night. The wine of our choice was delicious. And the politeness of the sommelier was well noted. Even enjoyed a short conversation about the wine and his experience. While we had to forego the salt baked bass (they were out) with the haddock. Our experience was so good we will be back to have the bass and the rest of the menu :)
Be the first to ReplyWe have been numerous times.
We love the food and ambience!! The service is always great and tried some of the cocktails and they are delicious too!
Be the first to ReplyWe've been there 4 times in the past 6 weeks.
As parents of 3 young kids that don't go out every single night, I can tell you that this place is our new go-to! (We live in FiDi and love that it's walking distance). From ambiance, to wonderful service (starting from the hostess stand, all the way up to busboys, runners and servers) - and the FOOD! Haven't tried one thing we didn't like. Farmer salad is a favorite- highly recommend! My husband likes the fish (both options), I'm partial to the filet and pasta specials, and we both agree on roasted potatoes and Brussels sprouts as sides are delicious. If you have room at the end of dinner, try their chocolate cake - we don't always have any space left due to their bread - that is OUT of THIS WORLD! - it's a win from A to Z. I really like the interior (we usually sit upstairs). Plus, everything they serve is made in-house (including pasta!)It's my new favorite place in the neighborhood (sorry Fulton!)
Be the first to ReplyThe service was impeccable and the restaurant was beautiful.
I was there with a group of girlfriends and we loved the table side options! The Caesar and farm salad, multiple sides and the port of house, which were all phenomenal. I give it 4 stars because spicy lobster pasta was not great - generous portions of lobster but it was was over cooked and flavorless. The mozzarella sticks with caviar and chocolate cake are must haves!
