Utterly Delightful
My wife and I came here off of a recommendation from a friend. We were about as blown away as we have ever been. The ambience was warm and romantic. The service was personal and romantic. The drinks were tasty, not to weak or to strong. But most of all, the food......the food......the food was divine yall!!!! We started with oysters from Maine and Rhode Island, spicy crab lettuce cups, and a pan garlic cheesy bread that was by far, the best bread we ever had. It came out in a frying pan hot, oh my heavens it was good. Then we followed that up with Black Sea Bass, Scallops, and the Boneless Ribeye accompanied with the twice baked potato and mushrooms. Wow! Everything was stupendous! We needed uber wheelchairs to carry us out of there, we were so fat and happy!!! One of the best dining experiences we have had in our lives!!!
Be the first to ReplyRan out of steak! Offered unwanted upcharge. Poor attitude.
We had a 6:45 P.M. dinner reservation. We are not heavy eaters and had our minds set on the smallest steak on the menu, the 8 oz. filet mignon. But horrors! They had already "run out of" the cut, even at this early hour. We were offered an upcharge to the next smallest cut, a strip steak of twice the size and at a greater price. But when we politely requested that we be charged only for the fillet menu price, which we thought was a reasonable request, we were rudely rebuffed, not by our waiter but by the maitre d'. We opted to have a seafood dinner that we would not leave at least half of on the plate. The scallops were palatable but the sea bass was tasteless (and the server broke it into little pieces while transferring it to our plate). A much better meal of the same content we have had several times at The Fulton in the adjacent Seaport, which is a much better choice.

Downstairs bar lovely, food was an absolute rip-off. Donโt say Yes to a side salad - $20+ for a load of ๐ฅฌ Veal Milanese was not too bad though the whole thing was just very overpriced.

Excellent meal, not a single miss from the apps to the tomahawk steak. The food is delicious and the views and ambiance are an extra bonus. Must try
Be the first to ReplyGenuinely good food
Pricey but still not bad value. The restaurant is clean and beautifully decorated. Service and staff were nice and pleasant. Food was delicious. Portions large (as is the custom in the U.S). The Tomahawk to share came with a generous serving of arugula salad with a tasty dressing, and some oven baked cherry tomatoes. Those were equally delicious and as well executed as the main dish. Lots of bonus points for that, not many restaurants bother to make the "garnish" good food. Tried the granita drinks and they were equally delicious and of good quality (genuine, did not taste artificial). Everything we had seemed to have been made with care and was tasty.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent service!
We only stopped here for a couple of drinks but have to say the service was the best we experienced on our NY trip. The guy who served us was not only efficient but engaging and seemed genuinely interested in finding out about us and giving us tips for our visit. We generally had mixed attitudes from NY servers but this man went over and above to make us feel welcome - thank you!
Be the first to ReplyUnique Steak
Dinner was delicious! The complimentary bread came out perfectly warm and already portioned into easy-to-rip parts. The 12 oz Gorgonzola-Cured Wagyu Striploin was definetly the most unique steak I've ever eaten and our sweet corn and mushroom sides were delicious. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the baked spumoni - I felt like the gelato had no flavor. Service was fast and efficient and staff were friendly and helpful. The bathrooms are all upstairs and it seems like people are welcome to come with pets to dine, so long as they sit outside. Great for dates and celebrations, although it seems popular with a younger crowd.
Be the first to ReplyBreathtaking views and culinary delights come together
Spectacular vistas paired with delectable cuisine. Even the salad offered a delightful taste, and the layered chocolate cake was a satisfying treat, striking a perfect balance without being overly sweet.
Be the first to ReplyMaybe Come for Dinner for More Steaks
This spot is by the East River and is handsomely decorated! We came for NYC Restaurant Week lunch but didn't get to eat any of the famous steak - we'll likely come again for dinner. While lunch was pleasant, I suspect that their dinner menu is both more extensive and better quality than lunch. The waitstaff very kindly tries to seat couples in the corner booths. A great restaurant for a more romantic atmosphere. Absolutely finger-licking delicious caramelized onions and the lemon sorbet comes with a bit of limoncello!

The second visit was just as amazing as the first! Our server really added to the overall energy and provided excellent service. The diner aesthetic with its natural wood decor is delightful. The restaurant is well-staffed, although it's worth noting that the kitchen can get slow during busy hours, resulting in a longer wait between courses. Nonetheless, this place remains a top choice for bringing friends and visitors.
Be the first to ReplySpectacular view, fantastic service, and good enough food
My partner and I joined two friends of ours for dinner. The staff is friendly and attentive (not overbearingly attentive). The restaurant is spacious, which helps facilitate social distancing. The cocktails are great; very light yet impactful. I had a cosmo while others at my table had water, wine, or Irish whiskey expresso. I was glad they have Irish whiskey expressos, as many places do not. For appetizers, my table enjoyed complimentary bread. We also ordered lettuce wraps, mozzarella sticks with caviar, and the truffle potato. The truffle potato was sharable between 4 people. The other appetizers were relatively small and would be good for merely two people to share. The truffle was delicious and creamy! I used the cream to eat the complimentary bread. That combination was not necessary but definitely worth the taste! For the entree, my table had rib eye, lambs, veal, and spicy lobster spaghetti. I did not particularly enjoy the spicy lobster spaghetti as the lobster was over cooked and dry and the sauce was not as spicy as I hoped. However, I'm sure if I told our server he would have resolved the issue. I did not do so as the spaghetti was not entirely bad. Just slightly over cook and not too spicy but over all 3.4/5. My partner did not enjoy the veal as it did not come with any sides, just meat. Most entrees are like that where you have to order sides separately. However, the sides are sharable. Our table of four shared the Brussels sprouts, which were cooked to. a crisp and very flavorful. Our friends thoroughly enjoyed the rib eye and the lamb. The lamb was perfectly cooked medium with the option of us sending it back if we wanted it more well done. All in all, the experience was still great to enjoy on a date, family, or with great company.
Be the first to ReplyDuck Hunting
A flashy new place in a new complex facing the waterfront. While billed as a steakhouse, duck is one of our favorites, and came to it by looking for the best duck recommendations. It is not prominent on the menu, but there. The whole bird is presented table side by two guys for your photo op, then taken back and carved before reappearing. We were not disappointed. Can be a challenge to find a wine at all affordable, but we managed.
Be the first to ReplyReally nice birthday dinner
This stylish, energetic chophouse reminds you how much South Street Seaport has been transformed. Wall Street bros, neighborhood families and tourists tuck into large red meat entrees and fish dishes with enticing sides and nice desserts. Our very attentive server threw in extras for a birthday like a panna cotta dessert and was knowledgeable about everything on the menu. Winners: Maine scallops in a Barolo jus, the Milanese veal chop, a very creamy polenta side and a fantastic 17-layer cake with chocolate caramel mousse. Prices high but not outrageous, nice views of the river, docked ships and lower Manhattan skyline. Only downside was a loud, testosterone-fueled table of venture capital or private equity types adjacent who fortunately departed midway through our meal.

Amazing food and excellent service, I can understand why this restaurant is recommended in the Michelin guide, we had both meat and fish with sides, just amazing
Be the first to ReplyFabulous restaurant with excellent service
Walked in randomly to try this restaurant as I had passed it a few times and glad I did. It's still quite new at the time of this review and offers a nice mix of land meat and seafood. The jumbo prawns were absolutely delicious and paired with a delicious sauce. The steak was absolutely sweet and delicious and the jus sauce it was paired with was outstanding. The jewel in the meal though was a simple fried Mozzarella stick with caviar on top... a mix of comfort food with luxury... absolutely inspired. Many of the dishes have a strong cheesy slant but can be avoided if that's not your thing. Service was impeccable... very helpful and kind. Highly recommended.

This is by far my fave restaurant here at the seaport. The food and ambiance are exceptional as well as the service. I tried all their popular dishes and they are all very good.
Be the first to ReplyBones in my fish
Went to Carne Mare in the Seaport on Saturday night. We have been there about three times in total. First time impressed second time not so much. But, we decided to give it one more try. My husband loves the steak. Me on the other hand can't eat steak so its very limited. I had ordered the Halibut because the waiter did suggest it.
The halibut came out and the first bite I took filled with bones! OMG I almost choked on them. I did not expect all the bones int he Halibut. It was so upsetting.. The manager did take it away immediately and game the Sea Bass. Which was just ok.. They charged me for the Sea Bass which I think they should have kept the price of the Halibut. Then they never offered us a drink or dessert. I think they should have but I actually had to suggest to the manager it would be nice if you had bought us a drink. So, he took off the first round. No, I will never go back to Carne Mare. ITs not really worth the HYPE... and where is it Italian? one pasta dish... Oh Well...
Definitely not the level it proposes to be
Not up to standard
We booked this restaurant this evening as first and foremost is indicated as an Italian restaurant.
Absolutely nothing got to do with an Italian restaurant.
Having said this the food was absolutely excellent.
There is no way I would give only 3 stars to this level restaurant but having tested the service it was honestly below even 3 stars.
I would strongly suggest rapid training for all staff.
We ordered a bottle of water one of the waiters insisted in continuously filling the glasses to top level until finally he managed to turn the glass over into my bag I wonโt comment on the value plus I had to sit for a complete meal wet from my blouse to my shoes.
I wonโt even comment on the bad manners of this waiter.
The bill even if we are in Manhattan totally exaggerated for the service given.
Gem downtown
I visited Carne Mare with my daughter as a celebration of our upcoming birthdays. Great service, very pleasant atmosphere and very tasty food. Very highly recommend for any occasion.
Be the first to ReplyA great Italian steakhouse with a twist!
One could mistake Carne Mare as yet another steakhouse, but no! The menu is fun and creative, while still hitting offering great classics. The staff is beyond, attentive and anticipated our needs. Wine list rocks too. All around great experience and my wife and I intend to make it a regular.
Be the first to ReplyA divine dining experience
Absolutely blown away by this place! We heard about the famous 17-layer chocolate cake and just had to try it out! We were meant to only go there for the cake but decided to have dinner there as well.
When we entered it was a lot fancier than we had expected, and the entire atmosphere was just exceptional. I'm a vegetarian, as were my waiter, so I got some great tips from her and ended up trying the Sicilian Caesar salad with eggs mimosa which was hands down maybe the best salad I have ever had. My friends got the Wagyu Tartare and the King Prawns & Dive Scallops and also raved about the quality of the food. I also quite enjoyed that there was an open kitchen to the dining area, so we could see the chefs preparing our food.
Finally we got the 17-layer chocolate cake with a gold laced cherry on top, and it was truly fabulous. Honestly not the best chocolate cake I have ever had, but the presentation and everything made it worth it.
All in all this is one of the best places I've dined in New York so far, service and quality considered.
Absolutely outstanding!
Outstanding service, excellent food. Beautiful venue. Quality drinks, professional staff.
Could not praise this place enough!
Truly exceptional
Had dinner at Carne Mare with family and friends this evening and had a great meal. In addition to providing attentive and thoughtful service, they served a meal that was truly exceptional. I can say without a doubt that this was one of the best steaks that I have ever enjoyed. Highly recommended for a great experience from start to finish.

Great service and food presentation. The Garzonala steak was excellent. Everything else was average. Will come back but not crawling back.
Be the first to ReplyAWFUL SERVICE, OVERPRICED AVERAGE FOOD
Very poor experience and AWFUL SERVICE for what should be a luxury meal. We live in the area and eat at The Fulton and many other high end restaurants. We were excited to try this restaurant and were there for a special occasion. The waiter barely looked us in the eye, never checked on the table, acted dismissive and ignored us all night. Had to ask a host, as she was squeezing behind my chair to get through to another table, to find our waiter so I could order a glass of wine. Worst of all, my $85 steak was gray and well done after I ordered it medium rare. 85 dollars for the wagyu. It may as well have been gray hamburger meat. I very patiently and politely asked to please have a new one and the waiter paused, it up, and said "ok" and walked away with a pissy attitude. He had a horrible attitude and made us feel tense and disrespected. He didn't care at all, never said I'm sorry about that, or anything you'd expect. Very very crappy experience for $300. $300 included 2 drinks and no dessert. I try to support local restaurants, but this was a TERRIBLE experience. The one star is because at least the food is good, when done right, and a manager came out to give a half-ass "sorry your steak wasn't right". I ate my steak with cold sides and obnoxious looks from the staff. The waiter paid us no attention at all, we never got a water refill in 2 hours, and he treated us like tourists who would never return. We won't. And I will let everyone I know to skip this place and go to The Fulton or the 1000 other steakhouses and better restaurants downtown. It was insulting and they made us very uncomfortable.
