Flavors are excellent as always with Stephanie Izzards food but the portions are small and the price is expensive. Might be worth it in the summer for a rooftop but as just a restaurant it's too much. Service was good.

Set on top the Hoxton Hotel in West Loop, Cabra is a rooftop restaurant that offers amazing food and captivating city views! My girlfriend and I got a reservation and we were able to get a really nice view of the city from our table. We ordered the Spicy Tuna Avocado Dip, Hamachi Tiradito, Chorizo Anticucho, Grilled Carrots, Steak Saltado, and Limorange Pie. The standouts for us were: -The Spicy Tuna Avocado Dip was perfectly complemented by thin and crispy Taro and sweet potato chips. The Dip had spicy yellowfin tuna, tomato yuzu, and a shio combo crunch. -The Grilled Carrots was also very good -- limey and cooked perfectly. They elevated a simple vegetable into a really delicious dish. -The Steak Saltado was the highlight and came with tomatoes, crispy potatoes, peppers, and onion. The meat was super tender and drenched with a delicious saltado sauce. While we didn't get to try the Goat Empanadas this time, they're definitely on our list for our next visit. Will be back soon to try their other dishes!
Be the first to ReplyOverall experience was good.
Waiter was nice and made recommendations which is always great. Their drinks on the menu were not the best tasting but their brunch house shots were great. My table shared the pork belly which was a 10/10. Also ordered the avocado dip which had a good flavor but reminded me of avocado paste so that wasn't my favorite. Then we ordered the skirt saltado which was decent, steak was tender and was flavorful however we also ordered the eggplant saltado and there was 3 eggplants which was disappointing. Potatoes were a tad salty. We had another round of shots but that was after the waiter rudely brought us our check which we didn't ask for. So we asked for another round of house shots and paid the bill because it felt we were rushed out! I believe we were there for 1.5 hours total!

It is on the top floor of boasting amazing views during all seasons. I love coming here in the summer and sitting on the patio for a drink. I love all Stephanie Izards restaurants however the food and service falls short for me at this one. The raspberry drink on the menu tastes like cough syrup and I've been here multiple times and felt rushed out of my table to get the next reservation seated. The food is subpar for the price. I would recommend coming here for a drink and sitting at the bar during the summer. I'll give it another shot because I want to love this restaurant, but haven't fallen quite yet.

Loved the place! We ordered from the vegetarian menu and tired 4 dishes: Beet Tataki: Crispy & Fresh was my favorite dish from our order- The beet was flavored nicely with crunch from carrots and radish was amazing. Mushroom Ceviche: Well balanced and easy on the pallet. Over the place has a vibrant energy, even during the winter months when the pool area is closed. The service was good and even though we had to wait 10mins past our reservation time, the food and service made up for it.

Visited this wonder on an early Saturday afternoon with my best friend and I am glad she took me. We started off with a couple of drinks. We got the Pisco Sour and Return of Saturn and both were really good. We also got the salmon ceviche for an appetizer and I could honestly eat three of those and be a happy panda. We chose the Chicken Thai Anticucho and the Salchipapas to share for out main dishes. Both were really good and I love the spice on the chicken. Both great options to share, just wish they had more of it! Overall good place to enjoy some Peruvian food with a bestie or a good group. Noise level wasnt bad when we ate there (around 1230 -2). Didnt need reservation but probably safe to have some in OT just in case it gets busy. Parking is limited to street parking with some pay to park spots. Can't wait to explore in the summer when the outdoor patio and pool are open.

Went Cabra with customers, spent 433 dollars in dinner for 4 people. I go there quite often in the past. But notice this time that there is this charge called benefits charge. I called them and it's nothing more than profit for the restaurant and it's quote, 'voluntary' 'it's in the fine print of the menu', I never though that I have to read the fine print of a menu, when I go out to eat. I have been seeing more and more of these charges in CHICAGO restaurants and it's time to take a stand on these hidden charges that they add onto your bill without prior consent ! I will now stop going to any restaurant that have these charges and will write a review to warn anyone to not go.

Cabra is celebrity chef Stephanie Izard's take on Peruvian food and while I have not yet had the opportunity to have dinner here, this spot definitely serves up a satisfying brunch. We stopped by for their 4 course restaurant week menu. We enjoyed the dishes so much that we ended up ordering the shrimp tacu tacu and bacon and egg solterito off their regular menu. The restaurant week menu offered tuna avocado dip, shrimp causa, a big maple sausage empanada, and quinoa French toast. Each dish definitely delivered and the empanada and French toast in particular was fantastic. The restaurant was spacious and the service was very friendly and accommodating despite being slammed with customers. Overall, this was a great brunch and I look forward to sampling food off their dinner menu.

Really like the food and environment! And service is incredible too! I would recommend this place to anyone who likes Peruvian food! Really nothing to complaint! Everything is perfect!
Be the first to ReplyFood and drinks were delicious! Their service was in point.
We left very full and very happy with all of the food and drink choices that we made. Definitely went to go back in the warmer weather to sit out by the pool.
Be the first to ReplyEverything was delicious, such high quality.
We loved the empanadas and all the cocktails.

First and foremost, shout-out to Chris our server, he was extremely kind and even gave us the soft serve swirl on him for our anniversary. I would like to note that it *was* in fact our anniversary and thus the gift was appreciated very much. However, this is not to encourage one to lie about such an occasion, solely for the purpose of receiving free food. If you're reading this Chris, I just want to say that it actually was our anniversary, and I strongly condemn anyone lying about such an occasion in order to get food. Anyway, we dined here during restaurant week and had the prix fixe dinner. My girlfriend enjoyed every course, but I was a little taken aback by how acidic and lime forward all the dishes were, but still enjoyed them. We particularly enjoyed the avocado dip, the chorizo, and the steak. The rooftop view was a nice look out over West loop. The table seats are a combination of regular seats and comfy couches, which I think is fun! It was a little cold despite me sitting right next to a heater. There is a bar. Docked one star because of the lime thing and it being a tad pricy. Still left the restaurant very full Shout-out to Chris!
Be the first to ReplyStill lovely food and kind service.
It was swamped due to restaurant week and nice weather, but the one drawback for those of us who want to visit with friends: the music is really too loud to do anything except shout. It will have to be on our not some often list in the future.
Be the first to ReplyThe terrace was extremely loud.
We couldn't even talk to each other. We asked to be moved 3 times and the waitress (Nicky) said it wasn't possible, even thought we saw several empty tables at the restaurant area. After two painful hours of tolerating the noise in the terrace, I asked to talk to a manager, who apologized and kindly moved us to the restaurant area right away. By then we were almost done with our food. The noise at the terrace is just ridiculous. There is no wood or any construction material that can absorb people's voices, screams and conversations.

Be the first to ReplyCabra was one of those experiences where you miss taking
Cabra was one of those experiences where you miss taking any photos of food because you're too busy talking and eating. That's the testament to a lovely dining atmosphere. Our server was Rachel and she was a dream. Thanks for your service, Rachel! We had an amazing time. Food-wise our eyes were bigger than our stomachs (especially after lunch at Cira earlier that day) but we ordered: Avocado dip, swiss chard and kale empanadas, aji de gallina empanadas, mushroom ceviche, grilled shishitos, papas huancaina, steak saltado, and a chocolate mousse at the end. Mushroom ceviche was interesting and unexpected. Even as our least favorite item, we still thought it was delicious. Highlight was pairing the steak saltado with the papas huancaina. Chocolate mousse was VERY rich so I definitely recommend sharing that one or your brain might be sent into orbit. All this was a perfect amount of food to share between three people. Extremely reasonable prices for a fun, social, and upscale casual rooftop experience in the city. Fresh food at exceptional quality and textured preparation. Friendly staff, and their menu documents support for staff benefits and donations to Planned Parenthood. If you want to have a fun night out and feel good from your stomach to your soul when all said and done, hit up Cabra.
Be the first to ReplyThis place has the vibes.
It was winter when we went so we sat inside at the bar area and it was great. The food we had was incredible and the drinks were good as well. I would definitely come back next time I'm in Chicago

We only had a drink at the bar, so didn't have a full experience, but it was great. The seating at the actual bar was full, but there was some high top seating were we could sit. Our server gave a good recommendation and was quick and friendly throughout. The view is great, so if you go for dinner, try to get a table by a window.

It was a beautiful day in Chicago and we wanted a place that was a little high to see the city! Cabra was a great choice to do so. Going up from the hotel the first time can be confusing as there's even a restaurant on the first floor. Our waiter generously explained the menu as tapas style as it was our first time. We weren't too hungry so we didn't order a lot, but it was still really good!Chorizo dip was my favorite part of the meal! The dip was creamy and rich. The chips used were amazing and we even asked for some for our ceviche which was an A+ idea. 8.9/10

Everything I tasted in Cabra was incredible and the drinks are delicious! I brought my friend here for her birthday and it did not disappoint! They also brought out a complimentary birthday dessert! The feel in the restaurant is very low light, intimate setting. Great for a group outing or a date! Our waiter was amazing and made sure we had everything we needed. I will definitely return when visiting Chicago!
Be the first to ReplyOne of the dopest rooftops in the city.
Great place for a summer cocktail, which are surprisingly reasonably priced for the Fulton Market area. The indoor restaurant is equally nice. Great spot in any season.
