nice food, low service
I came to eat a few days ago, average food but was ok. That wasn’t ok was our waiter Alfredo that he honestly ruin our dinner, not professional at all and rude way to speak with costumer. Staff should be trained.

What a sad decline to a restaurant I used to enjoy so much. No ambience, low quality food and 5 different waiters asking you the same questions over and over. C London has been frozen in time and not in a good, nostalgic way. I wish I read the reviews. But never going back.

Having visited other Cipriani restaurants around the world I thought this would be a no brainer for dinner with friends. This restaurant is not to the standard I would expect having visited others. The food is ok, it’s not bad but in no way remarkable. It is however vastly overpriced for the product. The dining room ambience is bright, someone needs to look at the lighting and decor. The staff were ok, pleasant enough but rather amateurish & scruffy. There didn’t seem to be a sommelier, if there was it was his night off and all available staff seemed clueless about the wines on offer. In short really expensive, offers no value and I wouldn’t go back.

I'm really disappointed I have been in Cipriani to gave a chance to my daughter to try your amazing and specials desserts. Which I tasted few years ago in your location on Harry Cipriani 5 avenue NY I went to your location in London around 3pm and I gently ask to the door man if I can join in for desserts and the answer was No because you not allowed to consume dessert ratherly he was push me to have a dinner or lunch reservation, because he say we no serve only dessert?! Again I do belive as master Italian hospitality brand you should be pay attention to the people working in your organization for such of Name as Cipriani reputaed as Master in Hospitality. I have been several times in Venice and NY BTW 5 av and Downtown and honestly you spoil my good time with my daughter which I come to visit in London

What a disappointing evening at Cipriani on Saturday. What was once THE glam place in town now appears to be the go to for Middle Eastern tourists, many (most) of whom were over casually dressed (think track pants and T shirts) and most were staring at their phones. The once fabulous service has deteriorated and the restaurant didn’t feel remotely Italian. It’s an expensive restaurant but felt more like a canteen and although the meringue cake is still a delight, I think in future, we’d order it as a takeout and eat away from the noise and the trainers and baseball caps.
Be the first to ReplyThe WORST experience ever. AVOID this restaurant and spend your money elsewhere.
I've been dining at C London/Cipriani restaurant ever since it opened, which must be nearly 20 years ago. I had booked a table for my wife's birthday with our 2 children, aged 13 and 15 and they refused us entry because my 13 year old was wearing shorts. These were smart, tailored shorts and it was one of the hottest days of the year - over 30 degrees outside. You can imagine the extreme disappointment of my wife on her birthday when her chosen restaurant refused her family entry. We could have chosen to eat anywhere in London, spending our hard earned money at any one of thousands of restaurants, yet we had chosen you. Not only did you let us down, you have lost a customer for life. As a well-connected, high net worth individual, I will make sure that I make every effort to convey my experience to others and to ensure you lose future lifetime revenue and customers. We we lucky enough to have been staying in a £7000 a night suite in the The Dorchester Hotel and a quick phone call to the hotel Concierge sourced an alternative restaurant who could not have welcomed us more openly. The service was superb and we ended up with a bill of nearly £2000. I gave the staff a substantial cash tip, on top of the standard service charge that had been added to the bill. It's incredible to hear that C London, which nows appears to be back using the Cirpriani name, is doing so well financially, despite other hospitality venues, suffering, that they can turn down business from longstanding customers or indeed anyone who wishes to spend money with them. Once seated, no one can see whether a child is wearing shorts and so your policy is ridiculous. We witnessed other diners dressed inappropriately, wearing revealing outfits and covered in tattoos, yet you chose to take offence with my 13 year old child's smart shorts. I would warn other potential diners to read the other reviews of this restaurant and to think very carefully about whether you wish to associate yourself with a restaurant that operates like this. There are thousands of restaurants in London, so choose carefully.

In all my years of tripadvising I’ve never seen such divided reviews of an establishment! The truth lies somewhere in between. It’s not as terrible as many make out, but it’s nowhere near good enough to justify the prices charged. The atmosphere is buzzy. Service was attentive and friendly. There’s definitely a good vibe, albeit it would be better with fewer trust fund kids spending their evening instagramming their spaghetti. Most of the dishes we ordered were good enough. The cace e pepe pasta was good, veal pretty tasty. Salads were decent too. Contrary to other reviews, we found the tuna tartare and steak tartare underwhelming, and lacking seasoning or additional ingredients. The tuna looked rather like a lump of spam. Presentation is definitely not a strong point. There is little imagination about the menu. It’s heart, family style Italian good - unfortunately st Michelin star prices. The wine list is good albeit heavily marked up. We wouldn’t return as we there isn’t a good reason to do so. For fine Italian dining, head to Enoteca Turi. For basic Italian food, you will find a decent local trattoria in every corner of London that does this perfectly well at a third of the cost. And without the instagram narcissists cluttering the place up!

The ambience, service and food exceeded our expectations. We are so glad we ignored the negative reviews. Thank you C London staff for a delightful evening.
Be the first to ReplyAll Location and No Substance
For a £30 aubergine parmigiana you are expecting miracles. For a £32 penne pesto you are expecting pasta heaven. Neither arrived. Bland average dishes, hugely over-priced and barely better than the Spaghetti House. The lighting at our table was a cold white bulb visible through the light shade and the view was facing a wall and a fire extinguisher. As for the monkfish with tomatoes and olives I could have made a better dish at home… and I don’t cook. This restaurant is full of Mayfair rich kids who probably treat it like anyone else would view a Pizza Express. If you’re looking to drop £250 on a dinner for two with food that your memory salivates over 6 months later… find another restaurant. This one is a rip off and merely trading on its location and the well off locals.
Be the first to ReplySuperb food with immaculate service
This place serves really first rate Italian food with a Venetian bent. The fried wild prawns were unbeatable as was the Seppie con Polenta. A fabulous lemon meringue pie was impossible to resist. The elegant service was seamless and stylish. I think this place is better for a leisurely lunch than perhaps for dinner as the decor is at best spartan. The food though is the reason to come here. Yes it is expensive but the quality justifies the prices. A proper espresso finished off a very memorable experience.

Completed waist of money, I spent over £120 for a pasta dish that was laden with so much salt it was irritating my mouth and a prawn stater that was completely bland. I gave it a 1 star for the amazing service and the complimentary bread that was fantastic. Never go there again

The ambiance was very nice. very old money and posh. the staff is okey. not the friendliest. carpaccio was mid. buratta was good. bolognese rigatoni was the best. the pasta was perfectly al dante and sauce was very good. the portions are quite large. enough to share. however prices are expectedly very high. just know that ur paying more for the ambiance and the brand.

Firstly, I cannot get over the prawn starter we ordered (not in a good way) let me start with the price, a whopping £43!! for what was almost, but not quite £10 per prawn! what the menu doesn’t tell you is 50% of the plate is fried potato matchsticks…..the absolute audacity of C London! to add insult to injury, the taste was mediocre. We also ordered the Bolognaise…once again, nothing memorable and not worth the price tag. The only saving grace was the vanilla meringue cake, which was lovely.
Be the first to ReplyA Great Cipriano Restaurant...consistent high quality
Visiting 13th October 2022 with 6 friends for dinner, this Cipriani restaurant was wonderful as usual. I've dined at Cipriani restaurants around the world and the standards are identical... expect identical quality to that overseen daily by 89-year-old Arrigo Cipriani at the original Harrys bar in Venice, where culinary perfection is replicated at their worldwide restaurants. The London restaurant while being a Cipriani classic is called 'C.' It really should have the Cipriani name as that is what it is in everything but the name 'C.' We started with two rounds of Bellini's followed by a bottle of Ruinart blanc de blanc and then another two rounds of Bellinis. We were surrounded by waiters at all times and received impeccable service even though the restaurant was packed out. Vibe of restaurant was very comfortable and buzzy for a restaurant filled mainly by an older crowd. For the first time I became aware that you can order a large jug of Bellinis...after next door table ordered one...a discovery for future use. On the subject of Bellinis, much copied by other hotels and restaurants but never as good as the original, Cipriani now sell pre-mix bottles of Bellini. I highly recommend these as being remarkably good. The tuna and steak tartare we enjoyed are among the best I've tasted, up there with Nobu. Dover sole and asparagus was superb. Pesto pasta was wonderful. The meringue cake is totally historic...a Cipriani classic...one portion is not enough. Even a simple pasta at C is astonishing, unbeatable and the best dish to order. Go there just for a Bellini, tartare starter, a pasta dish and one of the Classic deserts for a culinary experience that does not cost the earth.

Great vibes, great food. I go very often Im a regular. The best steak tartare on the planet. Oh and the vanilla meringue. Don't miss out!

I had burrata with datterini; risotto with duck meat and a scoop of mango sorbet. I also tasted rigatoni alla Bolognese. everything was excellent
Be the first to ReplyAvoid like the plague!
We have just spent nearly £800 for 6 for us, we paid £120 service charge and we didn’t even get a smile, unless you dress like you have been dressed by Danielle Westbrook circa 2000 Burberry days they seem to totally ignore you, we had to ask for a drink several times, the wine was served in tumblers not wine glasses, and the food wasn’t even all that, avoid this like the plague, no atmosphere at all, go there with a stick up your backside and you will fit in like a glove!

A really pleasant experience! From the moment we were greeted to the end, flawless! Perfect food and presentation, perfect service...don't take any notice of negative reviews ..all positive! Thank you!
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely terrible Italian food
Food is awful. Pasta is rock hard and that is because you need to tell them to cook it properly.. what kind of Italian restaurant is that haha? Desserts are nice but not worth the price. Definitely give this place a miss.

Absolutely terrible. We were delighted to be able to book a table at this well known restaurant. My husband had a starter of ham which looked like something straight from supermarket piled on a plate nothing else looked like something you would give the cat or dog. I had the osso buccorisotto and I totally agree with previous review it was huge and like slop. My husband and son had prawn and lobster pasta which the waiter served my son had only pasta my husband a little more of the prawn and lobster the remainder of pasta placed on table. No option of Parmesan. I ordered coffee which came before my desert. The meringue cake was most disappointing. My husband had the apple pie which was the best of the meal. Wine was reasonable. Service appalling virtually thrown onto the table. The bill was nearly £500 for three. Service charge £50. Just not good enough. How they get celebrities through the door is a mystery to me perhaps they have alternative chefs.
Be the first to ReplyToo much noise for nothing
The food is not great. The dishes are not properly served. Like they threw the food in the plate. They use glasses for water for a 120£ bottle of wine. Extremely expensive while food and service is quite mediocre
Be the first to ReplyLovely staff..horrendous food
The Osso Bucco Risotto, was a huge plateful of gelatinous, grey, tepid, tasteless slop, with a bright yellow flavourless, tepid, risotto on hte side. The huge portions of room temperature, barely cooked pasta dishes served to the three teenagers was too awful for words. All three agreed that their cooking was better. These dishes are £30.!!! I guess the price reflects the rent..not the food. It was busy enough, and the staff were all running around looking busy! You get a bread basket and then bread rolls....so much bread! Pudding was a huge slice of pie made out of whipped cream and barely cooked merangue. I am amazed this place has survived, it is awful! truely awful!

I was very excited to try the famous Cipriani restaurant. My mother was a regular customer a few years ago and she spoke so very highly of it, remembering both the food and staff in such detail and had even met the owner who sounded very kind and held his establishment at a very high standard.
The food was average, absolutely overpriced and she was shocked to see the difference in service between now and then and I was extremely disappointed with the behaviour of the main waiter on our table. We were asked to wait 20' for our table, even though our friend had mobility issues and they were aware of that.
The atmosphere was quite loud so when the waiter was taking our order he had to lean in to hear what we were saying which is perfectly fine. When I was ordering, I was sure about the appetiser but thought it right to first ask a question about the risotto of the day and the other main I was interested in and one of the two happened to be the same question a different person of our table asked. He replied "the lady has already asked me the same question" and I simply replied "Oh, sorry, I couldn't listen to your conversation", even though I had no obligation to say so or do so. When he explained, I told him the dish I had decided on and then moved on to order my appetiser to which he asked "is this your main course?", I replied "No, I would like this as my appetiser please". To which he replied "You always start from top to bottom, NEVER from bottom up", meaning you never start from your main and then order your appetiser. This was said in such a dismissive and aggressive way that I was actually left in shock but he swiftly moved on to the next person and I thought it best to leave it at that.
My friend was looking at the wine list and asked if they have a specific whiskey, to which he replied "No, we don't have that. If you want to see the whiskies you need the whiskey menu, not the wine menu", after which he disappeared and never brought it - we had to ask a different waitress, who kindly informed us that they do actually have it and brought us the whiskey list herself.
When everyone's appetiser came, he brought me the wrong one. I politely told him that this was not the prawn dish I ordered, to which he replied "this is the one you showed me" in such a rude tone and raised voice. This is impossible, by the way, because the dish I showed him was 3 dishes down from the one he brought me on the menu.
The cherry on top was the fact that he did not remove the wrong appetiser from the bill and I had to ask for it to be removed.
This is absolutely unacceptable for such an expensive restaurant that has been around for this long. I truly will never understand what gives such people the right to behave in this way and how management allows this. This is the only reason why no one from our table will be visiting again and it really is a shame given its long history.
PS: We found out this morning that in the takeaway bag we asked for, they put leftovers from a different table. This establishment really is the epitome of disaster and a ghost of the past!
Good (Not Great) Food At Insane Prices
I really try to cut restaurants slack, as it's a hard business to be in and there are so many moving pieces where things go wrong. However, this restaurant was a bit of a letdown.
To preface, we spent 1,100 GBP ($1,500 USD!) for dinner for 4 which is my yardstick this review is based on.
For those prices, I expect a lot from the restaurant. The food was good, no question, but absolutely nothing that would warrant that kind of pricing. The wine list was, of course, loaded with great wines but also completely overpriced.
Again -- I knew it was going to be expensive, but to receive good food and good service against those prices, was a letdown. There are so many amazing restaurants in London, I would suggest finding those instead.
My impression was that this was a place to go for status and to be seen. Although the scene was not really impressive either.
