Stylish!
We had our office party with more than twenty people attending. The service and ambiance were impeccable! Attentive, efficient and friendly staff ensured a smooth dining experience. We were able to get some vegetarian options as well with customization. Reserve ahead of time. Overall, a great spot and check them out when you are in NY.
Be the first to ReplyInteresting atmosphere in NY
Impressive atmosphere, original architecture. Pleasant food, good quality, kind service. Fresh rice and lobster salad. We asked for, to add it a bit, olive oil which tested good. All was elegant. Dumplings could have been more tasty but they were delicate and fresh. Moderately, not so expensive.

Excellent food and atmosphere. Reminded me of Hakkasan in London. The dumplings were very good. Very lively and nice setting.
Be the first to ReplyBest dumplings in NY
Booked the restaurant while on a short 3 day trip to NY. The restaurant lives up to its reputation. We had a few dumplings and reodred the platter. The dumplings are very delicious, we didn't really require any sauce to go with them. Each mouthful was tasty on its own, without any condiments. We loved the food so much that we visited again next day - lucky to get a last minute table.

The Asian restaurant impressed with its delicious food, cozy ambiance, and attentive service. Robin, our server, was friendly and efficient, while manager Dragana ensured a smooth dining experience. Overall, a great spot for satisfying Asian cuisine.
Be the first to ReplyFun experience!
Super fun place, with a Miami-esque visual vibe. Food and drinks are almost immaterial, as the site itself is so cool (VERY dark, though!) and yet both were also delicious - cocktail list is diverse and interesting, and the food good, too. We had a large crowd, so were able to try a variety of things, and nothing disappointed! Service was attentive without being annoying - a great night!

Be the first to ReplyBuddakan the place to be in New York
We were in Buddakan in New York for the second time and it was as good as it used to be 3 years ago Located on 9th avenue and 75street, it is definitely the place to be with an Asian fusion food. Reservation is mandatory The location is a bit weird but trust me the place is really amazing with high ceilings and beautiful chairs and atmosphere. Service is perfect and it quite quiet for New York We have started the diner with cauliflower truffle lollipops Crispy Cauliflower Lollipops $18 truffle, sweet rice, cheese We’ve ordered then Charred Filet of Beef $46 wonton crisps, mustard sauce So tender and so tasty definitely a mus ordered if you like meet Broken Chili Chicken $36 chinese pepper, charred scallion If you want to go more fusion this chicken is perfect and well cooked Vegetable Fried Rice $20 coconut-curry, pineapple Probably the best rice I’ve eaten in my life so tasty and the sauce is perfect. I like the atmosphere, the music the place and the food above all. It was my friend’s birthday and they offered us an ice cream very tasty, worth it.

Great vibe, beautiful decor, absolutely awful food. Most of the food we ordered was flavourless and bland. The edamame dumplings were dreadful, the cauliflower lollipops had no flavour and were greasy.
Be the first to ReplyA truly metropolitan New Yorkian place
As awesome as one could expect. All the Asian fiestas really makes this please feel like a metropolitan place in the middle of New York. Just do it.
Be the first to ReplyTop notch food and vibes - although quite dark!
We were a group of six and our amazing waitress recommended a set menu for us which was absolutely spot on. We were able to swap out a few things and replace them which worked perfectly. I would highly recommend, the service, atmosphere, drinks and above all food were fantastic.

Food is good, not great. The place though is SPECTACULAR. Service is pretty good, Craig was extremely nice throughout the night and have good recommendations. You come here for the amazing building, not the food! But… it’s worth the visit.

First let me say that I went to the original many years ago and remembered the food as brilliant, creative, and wonderfully tasty. I found the New York location similarly fabulous in regard to the food and service. So why only 2 stars and why would I never go back? Simple: even more important to me than the food and service is the experience. For this visit I went with my adult daughter, as we were visiting NY for the Holidays. First, we had reservations. When we arrived our table was not ready and we were asked to wait in a very crowded, loud, bar area. I asked how we’d be notified and was told “we’ll find you”. No buzzer, no text to phone. We’ll find you. As a result every time a hostess came through the area we were asked about our name. It was too loud to ask without ear to mouth contact. About 8 times this happened before it was us they were looking for. Ridiculous. Then we were walked through the massive building to our seat. Lovely location. However, I kept expecting the noise level to dissipate some. Nope. The music being played over the speakers was at disco level. I could not talk to my daughter. I could not talk to the server, instead pointing at items. We were next to a large party of 10. I know the name of the organizer of the group, Dave, because people at his table were literally SCREAMING his name. They weren’t doing it to be rude but to tell him how much they enjoyed to the food or drink, etc.. They had to scream to be heard over the music. So here’s the bottom line. Wear earplugs and don’t try to have any conversations with anyone. In this case, you’ll love the food and service. Otherwise, don’t go.

This was a dinner that exceeded my expectations greatly. The ambience of this restaurant is warm and inviting, and the architecture is commendable! Our servers were all friendly and extremely helpful with recommending dishes off of the menu. The food was the real star of the show! The food was the real star of the show, however. The Edamame Dumplings and Pork Buns (my personal favourites) were divine and full of interesting flavours and textures, but all the other food that we ordered (Tuna Tartare Spring Rolls, General Tso’s Dumplings, Glazed Alaskan Black Cod, Ginger Scallion Chicken, Chinese Sausage Fried Rice, Crispy Tofu) was absolutely succulent. An absolute pleasure coming here for a Christmas Eve dinner, will be back as soon as possible!

2 Stars are for the kitchen as the food was excellent. Front of house were indifferent to our experience. Our group waited half an hour beyond the reservation time to be seated, then another half an hour before the first drinks arrived. Five ladies lined up at reception, doing the job of one person. I’m guessing this is for visual impact - get these people serving drinks already? The Duty Manager literally couldn’t care less when spoken to. He seemed out of his depth at this level. The concept of splitting the bill at the end seemed like a new one to them. One person had to settle the full bill and thee attitude was like, “Whatever, you sort it out”. This typified the service. What was meant to be a special night was spoilt by poor attitude. Whilst the food was good, the taste in our mouths was to bitter to enjoy it.

Worst high end food experience I have ever had in my life. Felt as though I was being seated by a group of high schoolers at applesbees not a place I was going to be spending $300 on dinner. Was seated an hour and half after the reservation time. What is the point of even making reservations then? The idiotic system of sending “hosts” up to the horribly lit bar blindly looking for the people waiting for tables is arguably the most moronic system I’ve ever seen put into place in my entire life. They aimlessly walk around until someone stops them and asks how much longer it will be until they’re seated and at that time they take them back to a table. Food and server were very good but because of the idiotic wait before even getting a table this place is not worth the visit. If you want Buddakan do yourself a favor and travel to the one in Philly and skip the NYC one. At least you’ll get seated in Philly within the hour or your reservation.

Reliving my SATC moment at this famous spot which did not leave us down for the food and atmosphere. Service was so friendly and food was served so quickly. Would absolutely return
Be the first to ReplyBest meal of the holiday!
An absolute VIBE. Was a bit apprehensive as a fussy eater going here but WOW best meal of the holiday. We had General Tso’s Dumplings, Ma La Chicken, Charred Filet of Beef and The Peking Duck. Everything tasted amazing. We were told the Ma La chicken was very spicy but didn’t find it spicy at all. The peking duck was the best I’ve ever had. Will Highly recommend to all friends and family visiting NYC.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Food~
We are strict vegetarians and we loved the options there were. The edamame dumpling was superb. We ordered stir fried noodles out of the menu without eggs, a fried rice, crispy tofu and some stir fried brocolli. I found the food slightly on the sweeter taste for my palette. But overall absolutely loved the experience and would highly recommend it!
The service was not as great as expected. The server we had seemed like she was on a mission and was quite curt. When the first dishes arrived, I found the food sweetish and requested for the fried rice which had not yet arrived to made without pineapples. However, she just whisked the fried rice away when it came and we kept waiting for the other portion. Some 10-15 minutes later we were wondering whether or not the fried rice was coming. When I asked her, was quite defensive and insisted I had asked to cancel it. Even when I told her I did not want the fried rice taken away but just made without the pineapple, she refused to acknowledge it.
Barring the service, the ambience and the food is worth it!! It is a MUST do in NYC!
Disappointed in food , chipped plate
It is a super popular place as an upscale Asian fusion place. I do love the ambiance here. It’s massive open space , the vibe is great.
But the food is not at all. I was very very disappointed.
The prices are very high , so I expected the food to be superb. Quite on the contrary. It was just average, the fried rice that we ordered was just ok, not tasty at all, the noodles were super greasy and over sauced , the Short ribs had too much fat on it. The only really tasty food we had were dumplings. I have a sweet tooth , so we definitely ordered some dessert. I believe Crying Chocolat
My honeys birthday
Great placed , drinks were great as well just a bit over priced.
Food was a bit cold but the manager was attentive and so was our waiter.
Buddakan, Can't..simple as that !
Really looked forward to coming to eat at Buddakan, we booked for my partners birthday. Arriving was swift and we were really well taken care of, told to wait in the bar area until our table was ready, which didn't take long at all.. we were then led through the restraunt main area, which is so ambient and lively and decor-lighting simply beautiful, led past all of that and then seated in a separate room (felt like sitting in an airport lounge) right near the toilets and waiters cleaning station..
We asked straight away if we could be moved and it was sorted within minutes..we were led back
into the vibrant area and given a choice of two tables which is so impressive. Once seated our waiter came over to hand us our menus and explain how we navigate it, etc ..then swiftly left and didn't return until one of us literally threw our hands in the air wiggling them. The service was appalling and practically non existent. The food was average for the extortionate prices they charge.. So disappointed.
Close to 5 stars
PROS
Quality of food is excellent, quantity of food is pretty impressive, location is awesome and place is really near to find.
People is cool, place is cool, be cool.
CONS
A couple of things: even if John was amazing, the sommelier was really bad - he wrong the wine, forgot to serve 2 people and asked us to buy another bottle to cover. Of course rest of personnel is awesome as the place is (I guess) but we had this.
A bit pricey too, to be honest - avoid bottle of natural water (10$ / each)
Recommended place overall, really to add to the list
Service Sadly Lacking
Ok, so if the 'restaurant experience' only involved food, this place would do ok as the food is very nice. That said, the way it's served is a little chaotic; you've either got nothing for large parts of the evening or a table that's so full of food you don't know where to start!
But......
Well the service is pretty shocking. From the moment you walk in you have to work too hard for it. We waited on our table for over 15 mins before we were acknowledged and some 20 mins before we were offered drinks and almost 30 mins until we received them. Everything you want you have to ask for and it gets exhausting! I can't say it's not enough staff as there seems to be plenty of them but they just don't seem to very well managed or organised. They just float around at no pace whatsoever! Our bill was almost $700 for 4 people, that included 2 children and no wine!
We wouldn't go back or recommend this place and I'm a little surprised our high it seems to be based on the Trip Advisor scores. Maybe we got unlucky!
To add an insult, they wouldn't call a cab for us as 'we don't have that facility here!' The hat utter nonsense! So we are left, in artic conditions sorting transport!
