Brasserie Lipp Paris Reviews from The Last Year
If you are looking for an authentic Parisian experience ,
If you are looking for an authentic Parisian experience , Lipp can be your place! This is an iconic place. Famous poets, writers, politicians and intellectuals would come to eat from their " immutable " and classic Alsatian French menu. Today is more of a touristic spot but the ambiance "avec" colorful art deco murals is still fantastic...the food is great and the literary prize they promote every year still goes strong. In my humble opinion the place could undergo small renovation to regain its glamour, bur this is a detail. Food was really good, though. My green bean salad with hazelnut was to die for and the Brandade de Morrue (cod fish pie with mashed potatoes) very very tasty). Service is professional as it should be, waiters aways smiling and promptly helping us when we needed. I resented (just a bit) the fact that they didn't have the Chucrute de la Mer - seafood chucrute - as you can find at Lipp in Geneva - Switzerland. Value for money. 2 courses meal with wine and coffee, we spent around 70 euros per person.
An institution
A midnight dinner with my friend and my son after returning from PSG's defeat in the semi-final of the Champions League. Very friendly and accommodating waiters. the meats were very good.
But who has the courage to talk badly about it?
Frankly we were surprised by a fair number of negative reviews. What we found was exceptional table service: particular praise goes to Titi, at least that's what he said his name is, who is a young, smart, quick and super professional guy. We ate from God, in particular an avocado and prawn salad. An excellent classic tartare and then Fois gras, one of the best I've ever eaten. We also allowed ourselves an excellent glass of Moet Chandon Imperiale rosee champagne and a 0.375 CC bottle of superior Bordeaux Chateau Vieux barreil. We write this review without knowing how much we will spend but I imagine enough. But a dinner like this is priceless. We come out happy. Thank you all
An unforgettable moment
Everything was done to ensure that I had an excellent, delicious and delicious time! A professional staff and my pleasure was multiplied since I had just read Lipp is a party. Unforgettable memory
Well done
A respected institution Very good sauerkraut with real, excellent Paris ham 👍👍 Beautiful and preserved setting Classy and fast service
Too touristy
Nice place, better local inside which is more characteristic. Average quality dishes. For us, an experience not to be repeated
The Parisian brasserie
Very beautiful Parisian brasserie, the art deco decor is magnificent; the welcome is courteous, the service is friendly. The cuisine is good, made with fresh, quality products. It serves typical brasserie cuisine (andouillette, sauerkraut, kidneys, razor clams, vintage sardines, etc.). Varied wine list, at reasonable prices.
There are no words
Historic place, with beautiful majolica but... alive with fond memories. It hasn't been renewed at all. Annoying and annoyed waiter because we couldn't decide on the courses in a short time, the food isn't even worth the effort to write about, but a special mention must be made of the sardines served with the whole tin can, terrifying! The white wine in glasses that they used perhaps in the 80s could be overlooked but you can't for a bill of €115 for two.
Very good brasserie, with character
Brasserie Lipp is not the ideal place for an intimate evening. But if you appreciate an authentic brasserie atmosphere, and the cuisine that goes with it, ignore the reviews which complain about the noise, the crowded tables and the perpetual movement of servers. The dishes are simple but of quality, the waiters are very professional, and the service is very traditional with great attention to detail (the necessary number of cutlery systematically changed, the generous starters, the good and fresh bread , starched napkins, outdated “customer reviews”). A moot point though: the garnishes, which are very ordinary apart from the beautifully presented mash, are chargeable for many main courses; given the prices, we would dispense with this detail. But that won't stop me from coming back!
Appalling
Before it was delicious, nowadays horrible food and terrible service, the escargots tasted like grass and the meat tasted like inedible shoe soles. And the waiters didn't care that we didn't touch our dishes.
A once great Brasserie.......sadly no more!
I and my wife have been going annually to Lipp for some 50 years and particularly enjoyed it during the days of Claude de Kronenburg. This visit was a DISASTER AND DISGRACE. We arrived at 7.30pm and waited 45 minutes for our order to be taken. Another 30 minutes for our Hors d'oevres which were OK. We had ordered the 'Entrecote Maturee' to be 'a point' when it eventually arrived it was saignant, and certainly NOT aged as described. Chewy, fatty and hardly edible. We then had to wait some 15 minutes for our bill, and finally got out at 10.15pm. NB. A table for 6 persons next to us (obviously regulars) arrived at 8.30pm and were served in half the time. Two ladies were 'vaping' but the management weren't interested. IT'S SO SAD TO EXPERIENCE A ONCE GREAT BRASSERIE SINK TO THESE STANDARDS !! Lionel F
Fabulous.
Waiters delightful, professional. Food delicious. Old world. Happy it has remained with its ambience and charm.
Below expectation
Very poor food. Service to be desired. Very good atmosphere! I wouldn't go back because the value for money is not worth it. The meat (filet mignon) had no taste and the side dish was very simple. Doesn't live up to the name of the restaurant
Very pleasant discovery
This brewery is a first for us This is a very nice discovery The meal was excellent, the service impeccable The servers full of humor and kindness but very professional we didn't miss anything they are very attentive In short, we will come back very soon And I highly recommend this place, you will have a delicious time there.
The brewery of traditions
Very good French service with simple but very good dishes. The bow tie service bravo and the stuffed pig’s trotter is exceptional
Take a photo and then leave
Very characteristic and Parisian place. High bill for what we ate. 10 euros a piece of cheese. The worst thing were the waiters, arrogant, rude and rude! I wouldn't go back even if they gave me dinner as a gift
LIPP brewery experience
Brewery type brewery Organized but noisy Good but not great Impeccable service Place to do at least once
Ignorant service, good food, expensive
Ignorant service, good food, expensive. Waiters did not look too happy to have us there. Food was ok, expensive though.
Stop
Sorry to those who criticize the Lipp brasserie but I must say it is a brasserie service it is not a gastro the products are fresh the leeks do not come from a plastic box when you have a real palate we can tell the difference . When it comes to reception, it is obvious that well-known people are recognized, others are also received with due respect.
Don't go there
Bad experience. Establishment that lives on its old reputation. Almost all the tables touch each other. Total discomfort during the meal: tiny tables, going to the toilet is a feat, poor quality of food, unrecommendable fries. Bad value for money. A curiosity: they ask strangers for a tip by offering them a pen to write the amount on the note. But not for us, Parisians.
Staff completely ruin it
Was very excited to go here and thought it was beautiful. We are visitors from NZ so our French was limited but not for lack of trying. While we enjoyed our escargot and starters hugely our mains were quite average and badly cooked, this was not however what ruined what would have otherwise been a special night, it was the staff and service who completely let this beautiful place down. As mentioned our average French was almost taken as a licence to provide subpar and rude service, from slapping our meals onto our plates, pouring fries between plates to remove the other plates from the table to chucking or throwing cutlery down across the table as if they were in a complete rush… it honestly was quite strange. We initially thought maybe this carelessness was part of the general vibe of the place but watched sadly as the table of French people next to us received normal levels of care and attention as their meals were served. The staff were impatient and grumpy- simply it seemed by the fact we were not French. There were a number of other small issues which are not worth mentioning but also contributed to the useless experience we had. We are not used to the tipping customs in NZ so when the bill came we did not know what to do. Our waiter handed the bill back demanding a tip. We obliged (albeit obviously smaller than was he wanted judging by his face) but in all honesty there was certainly no service worth tipping in our opinion ( putting aside the 300 euro bills for dry steak). Overall a really really disappointing meal, such a a beautiful aesthetic and iconic reputation and history but there is nothing going for this place it was genuinely an unpleasant experience by old male waiters who clearly need to retire given they have no idea how to perform a job in hospitality service ( or if they do it is completely selective on whether or not they think you are worth it ) I would not recommend this old crusty place there are a million more amazing dining experiences else where in Paris.
Atmosphere of the Paris of yesteryear
One of the most famous historic restaurants in Paris, a true legend for the atmosphere of the past, with waiters dressed as in the 1950s. Of course you have to jostle to find a table, there are even long queues outside in the evening and inside a little of confusion. You don't spend a little, but you pay for the environment. Normal food, good, even if the menu is always a bit the same, in the regional style of Alsace.
There are 3 historic restaurants in the area worth coming
There are 3 historic restaurants in the area worth coming to if you're visiting for the first time and this is one of them. Really loved the beef tartare. My oldest ordered fish for the first time and liked it. The mashed potato was also so smooth and creamy. Staff really needs to be better organized as they crowd around without any semblance of table assignment. So you'll have to ask more than once for something. Beware they charge you cover! We came here the first night in town, and later wished we had gone instead to Procope or any of the other restaurants with better value food.
If you like snotty French restaurants.
..this is the place. Only restaurant in Paris where we were treated rudely!
Terrible service.
Had a 930 reservation and was seated and ignored for 15 mins while others ahead of us were served. The waiter then insulted us for not speaking French and ignored us a bit longer. I've eaten here once before and had a similar experience. Over priced and overrated and still getting by on its age. Don't go here.
They were empty but still told us needed reservation in not
They were empty but still told us needed reservation in not the nicest way. We went to the next one and they stayed w empty tables
English If you like to wear shorts in the heat of August, you can not eat here, as the alte kaker waiter indicated by only pointing at a sign that is inside. Go to Cafe de Flore or le Duex Magots instead. They are both across the street, have delicious food, and always provide very friendly service at both locations.
Overall decent place to get classic French bistro food.
I was craving choucroute, so I got that. The Chou wasn't too acidic and I liked the quality of the meat. Was definitely worth the price. The ambiance was nice while the service was not so great but to be expected. I would seek out smaller places before returning here.
Typical brasserie with nice atmosphere and good enough food.
Service is very lacking. I get the take it slow and enjoy culture but we spent almost 3 hours and never felt taken care of. I would prefer to try something else.

Hi, I have a reservation to Nobu Malibu, but since they don't do text or e-mail confirmations I haven't been able to get my reservation posted. I have posted a screen shot of the phone conversation on the listing, but it keeps getting rejected. If anyone has an idea how I can get it approved that would be much appreciated, thanks!

Write a note with the Name of the restaurant, Name on reservation, day/time/number of people, your phone number. Then on the bottom wrote “confirmed by phone”. Screenshot it and submit.
