Ordered 2 nonfat cappuccinos, got only 1 with almond milk, not nonfat. Sandwiches on stale bread, croissants had way too much butter. Best to find breakfast elsewhere.
Be the first to ReplyToo late for brunch, but too early for dinner
We arrived at 2:55 and sat down at our table. We were given a brunch menu. Since it was a few minutes to 3 o’clock we figured we could also see a dinner menu since we figured brunch was about to end. Our waitress told us the kitchen was about to close. She said she told the kitchen that she had a new table so we could still order. She brought water and didn’t take our drink order at that time. By the time she came back for that it was about 10 minutes later. She then said the kitchen was closed and pointed to things on the menu that were no longer available. We asked if there was a dinner menu & she said not until 5 o’clock. We couldn’t have brunch but couldn’t have dinner either. I’ve never heard of such a thing. So the place basically closes for 2 hours to get ready for dinner which is bizarre. We ordered Caesar salads and they were decent but the whole menu thing is not a good experience!!
Be the first to ReplyBrunch Break
My husband and I recently had brunch here and I’m surprised by so many negative reviews. We had a delicious meal with excellent, friendly service. We were walking around Water Street and were drawn here do to the décor and ambiance. I did find the brunch menu a bit limited and settled on the smash burger and fries. The burger hit the spot; however it was a bit messy to eat. The fries were seasoned nicely and were crispy on the outside and pillowy soft inside. My husband ordered the Boulon breakfast which comes with two eggs, bacon, frito maison and brioche toast. There is a bakery attached that had a showcase of fresh pastries that were tempting my palate, if I wasn’t so full I would have indulged in something. The day we were there they had a musician up front playing the guitar which was a nice touch.

Crab beignets, what a treat! We were early so, able to walk in. Service was great! Just a cocktail and off to the Lightning game.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible
My experience was horrible. I spent $290 with friends for drinks and food. I go outside briefly to come in to the staff informing me I’m kicked out for stealing(stealing what I’m unsure of). I raised the issue to later be informed that I’m kicked out for “being too drunk”(I’ve been sober for years). I inform the staff they must have me confused with someone else they don’t care. I later go to the edition with my friends and have no issues. Just a weird place to kick people out who have done nothing. It feels very personal as I don’t look like their typical customer.
Be the first to ReplyTrès salé
Disappointing in that the food was so heavily laden with salt. The escargot were so salty that the flavors were completely overtaken as the salt lingered, burning the palette. The bread, while freshly baked came with salted butter. Even the profiteroles (served without the traditional tureen of chocolate) were salty! The duck confit was good (not nearly as salty as everything else). The salad dressing was a bit overpowering (again: salty and a bit heavy on the vinegar). . The service was inconsistent and somewhat inattentive but very friendly. The atmosphere was lively and loud until about 9pm then gradually became more quiet and empty. Oddly, the mirrors, a common feature in French brasseries, were placed too high to face any relevance or function. While traditional French cuisine is what we were hoping to find this did not quite meet our expectations.
Be the first to ReplyWorth the traffic nightmare
We almost bailed on our efforst to have our first dinner at Boulon. (We heard so many good things about it and had been trying to obtain reservations for months.) The traffic jams caused by an event at Amelie Arena and the terrible City of Tampa traffic control plan that totally disregards all of the efforts to make Water Street a "go to" area, almost made it impossible to get to the restuarant. Thankfully we persevered and enjoyed an outstanding "date night" dinner. The French Martini was a delicious way to decompress from the traffic. The Blue crab beignet is a delectable variation of the crab cake. The French Onion soup is also excellent. The Escargots were generous in size and number and were very good. The Bouillabaisse is a must. The order of Pain Maison was warm and delicious and supplemented the baguette that came with the Bouillabaisse as a means to capture all of the wonderful broth. The butter cake dessert was to die for. The bread pudding was excellent except it wasn't served as warm as we thought it should be. However, when we pointed this out our server when she asked how we enjoyed the desserts, Boulon immediately comped the dessert even though that wasn't our objective. The amosphere and decor are delightful. This is truely one of the best restuarants in Tampa. The only negatives were the traffic and the lack of valet parking. We will go back, but only on a night when nothing is scheduled at the arena.
Be the first to ReplyTipping gone crazy
Brunch with the family and nothing disappointed but also nothing jumped out and would be worthwhile a repeat. Of course the place is very cool and the bar absolutely looks amazing. However looking at the cocktails or bourbon list in particular than it's obvious that the length of the list impressive however there aren't many specialty bourbons on it. But that's a complete different story and we came for brunch and not for bourbon :-) So why the 1 Star rating if overall food was ok. Reason for the 1 Star rating is the ongoing level restaurants, especially upscale, feel the need to push the tipping level higher and higher. Boulan suggested tip levels are 30%, 25%, or 22%. I personal think it's totally stupid that 30% is becoming the norm and the old 20% for great service isn't even any longer considered acceptable.

The ambiance is very nice but soooo disappointed with food ! not French at all, deserts are horrible... very expansive for the quality. We will not come back.
Be the first to ReplyRude hostesses
I went for dinner when they first opened and the food was okay, very expensive for “okay” so I decided to try brunch. Didn’t even get to have brunch because the hostesses were so rude they made us feel unwelcome and ignored us when my husband asked for a table. I love downtown and go out often and I will never come back.

Wife and I went for brunch/lunch on a Friday. The restaurant itself is beautiful. Nice building and furnishings. However, from the moment we stepped in we got the feeling that it may be all show. Hostess was not friendly or welcoming. Our waitress was good at the start but actually forgot to place an order for my wife's wine. This was after much discussion over the wine to accompany her duck. When she came by towards the end of the meal my wife said to just cancel the wine. Waitress said "what wine and who did you order it with". we told her we ordered from her. The overall timing of the meal was off. We ordered apps and our entrees at same time. halfway through the escargot they start delivering the entrees. We were at a small table for two and they were stacking plates on top of each other just to get the food out. Very rushed and poor timing. The food itself was disappointing. Main issue was both my wife and mine were not hot. I would say a little above room temp. My snapper was covered in oil. Seems like they heated it up from night before and poured oil over it. We always try desert and decided to try the butter cake. Looked like it had a crispy crust on it but was just more oil, or melted butter. could not eat it. In texas we call this type of place all hat and no cattle. Nice building but not a good resturant.

Great atmosphere & wonderful service however the food didn't compare. The presentation of the lobster pot pie was better than the actual meal. The puff pastry tasted old, nothing about it was flaky and it came out lukewarm. My husband ordered a steak that was cooked well, but you could definitely tell it had been plated for quite some time. Wouldn't make a point to go back for dinner again.
Be the first to ReplyUnderwhelming
We had really high hopes for Boulon, and to be fair we have heard mixed reviews about the food. The atmosphere inside Boulon is really impressive as it is a mix of modern/art deco/and 20's style which we really liked. Overall I have to say the best part about the experience was Tom our server. He was outstanding in taking care of us and was right on top of everything from pouring our wine to making recommendations about the menu and the wine selection. Unfortunately the Kitchen couldn't hold up their end of it. We started with the Shrimp Nola which came to the table warmish. Shrimps cooked to standard but the biscuits were so dense and heavy you felt like you were eating hockey pucks. My wife ordered the Moules Frites, which was gritty and lacking flavor, overall a very forgettable dish. I am a sucker for Duck Confit which when prepared correctly is absolutely outstanding. Unfortunately this Duck Confit ranks near the bottom of any I've had. It was so overcooked and burnt that it stuck with me 7 hours later. On the bright side the crispy vegetables were good. Desserts were above average, Bread Pudding and the Warm Butter Butter Cake. For almost a $300.00 check the food didn't come close. With all the competition that is opening in and around Water Street, Boulon really needs to step up their game in the Kitchen

Excellent new restaurant in Tampa’s Water Street neighborhood! I’ve been a couple of times. The Le Burger is amazing and comes with a side of shoestring fries. We had some appetizers: Salmon, escargot and the charcuterie board. All were awesome. If possible, request to sit outside. It’s a cool, bustling neighborhood great for people watching. We’ll go back!
Be the first to ReplyA little bit of NYC inTampa - but don’t expect outstanding food
Visited Brasserie Boulon in Water Street and absolutely loved the vibe Great drinks, great for people watching and decent food Very chic and hip Would absolutely go back again to enjoy the feel of the place. The food is good, but not great for the price Really enjoyed the old fashioned and espresso martini And the location and overall area is a lot of fun If you can get a booking, it’s a must go at least once

What a way to turn things up! Any of you visiting Tampa know that the restaurant scene has heated up. Make your first stop Boulon! I've been to all of the new hot spots but none of them turned me on like Boulon did. The minute you walk in you will think Money! You also may think and Thank God. The place is big, bold and beautiful. We were able to get a couple of seats at the bar both times we went once in the early evening and the other time Brunch on a Saturday. Reser nations will be tight online but there seemed to be room at the bar with a small wait or outside. I thought the food was very good including delicious oysters and onion soup and steak! Cocktails and wine lists were top notch. Shout out to Ryan and Bryan for being particularly helpful.

Had a really great meal here. From beginning to end it was enjoyable. It’s a nice atmosphere although the music was a little loud. The crab beignets were light, chock-full of crab, and really delicious . The French onion soup was probably the best we’ve ever had . Really deep rich broth with great cheese. The cheeseburger was very good and juicy, but not memorable. The frites were great though, as we would have expected. We didn’t have dessert. We’ll save that for next time when we come back. Highly recommended .

I can't wait to go back. The food was just amazing. Our waiter, Michael, was just fantastic. I didn't want my meal to end it was amazing. I had the scallop risotto. My husband had the schnitzel. We started with the charcuterie and that was amazing as well. We never eat sweets but had to do the creme brûlée, and I am so glad we did. It was magical and gluten free! We booked as soon as it was announced booking was available. Our waiter told us the wait is about 2 months out now. I highly suggest reserving and just knowing you will have to wait. It's worth it. It was a bit noisy because so many people were there and at the bar. I do hope it quiets down just a bit so you can have a convo but again, the food experience made it super worth it.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Dinner
Excellent Dinner here first weekend of opening. Many great things about this place. Excellent location in heart of channelside and downtown, right off trolly stop. The inside is beautiful and fun. Our server could not have been better. Everything we ate was delicious. We expected a few stumbles since this was the first Saturday night open, and it was Gasparilla, but they never happened. Flawless. Can't wait to go back, what a great addition to the expanding chanelside dining scene.
Be the first to ReplyFar from a real FRENCH brasserie …
1st inconclusive attempt. Tempting Menu, but in the end the disappointment is at the appointment. Although the service is friendly, we waited 40 min for our starters. Our friends received their starters 30 minutes before us... New endless wait for the main course. Many errors in the dishes, followed by a new wait to change the dishes. All the dishes ordered are far too salty. The fried mussels are accompanied by a bland poultry broth that has nothing to do with the original recipe. The real mussels fries marinières are accompanied by a sauce based on white wine, celery, onions, parsley, etc .... The butter accompanying the bread is not good, why not have a good French butter? The risotto is revisited with a crumble, again it's a disaster... Profiteroles are tiny and have nothing to do with real profiteroles, ditto with chocolate which should be a real French dark chocolate. A pleasant setting, but air conditioning much too cold that forces you to eat with your jacket. As for the music it is unbearable because it is so loud, you are forced to shout to talk to your friends. Maybe we'll give this restaurant another chance.... But it would be essential to recruit a FRENCH chef is essential, and review the menu inspired by the real recipes of FRENCH cuisine.
