i had the BEST experience at the downtown location at
i had the BEST experience at the downtown location at boston chops! it was me and my boyfriend's 5 year anniversary and everyone was so nice about it. we heard congratulations from almost everyone which made us feel very welcome because we aren't from boston. we were ten minutes late for our reservation but they had a table ready for us and i called to let them know. the restaurant is dim lit which made for an intimate dinner. definitely felt fancy! our waiters name was vinnie and man, he is awesome! vinnie was extremely attentive, ready to answer questions and super animated! we would go back again just so he can take care of us. vinnie even came with a complimentary glass of prosecco to celebrate our anniversary. the bread btw?! it's basically a bread soufflé so light and fluffy! for the appetizer, my boyfriend had the bone marrow which he loved, said it was very decadent but light. it comes with garlic jam, toast, and an arugula salad... the garlic jam was amazinggg. savory and sweet at the same time. for entrees, i had the halibut with roasted potatoes and asparagus in a chimichurri sauce. i would have swam in that sauce it was so good. as for my partner, he had the bbq pork chop with mash potatoes and caramelized onions. he would not stop talking about how juicy the pork was. we also had a side of onion rings which we both agreed were good but overkill. then for dessert, he got the creme brûlée which he loves so he was very happy that was on the menu. i got the warm chocolate cake which is a lava cake with a side of vanilla ice cream. they were both a great way to end our dinner. they also wrote happy anniversary on the plates. it's the little things that really made this a wonderful night so thank you boston chops for making our anniversary a memorable one! we will be coming back!

I enjoyed my experience at Boston chops Service: the service was phenomenal. Staff were attentive and friendly. Provided excellent service for a member of my group who was celebrating their birthday! (Thank you) Food: the food was good! I enjoyed the steak and sides. The low light for me was the crispy mushroom, but I enjoyed the steak, bone marrow, Mac and cheese, Mash potatoes, ceasar salad, and asparagus. The food was room temperature and wish it would have been hot upon arrival! The desserts and drinks were tasty! Ambiance: modern restaurant, nice lighting, music, and enjoyed the marble detailing on the walls. Really nice! Would definitely return, hoping that the food is hot!
Be the first to ReplyThe food was delicious.
Our waiter was super nice and attentive. We were offered a free champagne toast from our waiter for my friend's celebratory bachelor party. They also offered some excellent espresso after dinner. The over atmosphere was modernized with late 90s early 2000s hip hop.

The servers were incredibly attentive as soon as we sat down and helped us select a bottle of wine. We ordered off of the regular menu as well as the dine out boston menu so our group could share some apps and dessert. The food as well as the cocktails were delicious!
Be the first to ReplyDine Out Boston (3 Courses $46 per person) Reservation at 5
Dine Out Boston (3 Courses $46 per person) Reservation at 5 p.m. There were few people when they opened the door, the waiter/waitress was friendly, and the kitchen served fast, so there was little waiting. We both ordered local oysters as a starter, the New York strip (peppercorn sauce) and skirt steak (house sauce) as the main course with additional roasted bone marrow and crab cake as the main course, the sticky toffee pudding and the pineapple cheesecake for the dessert. We ordered the onion rings, which were crispy but too oily. The steak frites are nothing special. Both desserts are a big no-no for me, but since it is part of the menu, I can't complain. The roasted bone marrow was highly recommended even if it cost additional to the menu, but it was worth it.

***3 1/2 stars*** Boston Chops was a last-minute/impulse decision after the #1 spot on my Boston wish list (The Wig Shop) had a 90-minute wait on a rainy Saturday night. My top-tier chum who literally went to the school of hospitality and I both really like bougie steakhouses, so once we discovered this place a stone's throw away, it was an easy call. Both the exterior and interior were classic high-end steakhouse - an entrance with a red carpet and accompanying rope (a week away from the Oscars) and huge ceilings, with a lot of sleek, black high-top tables. There was no wait and we were ushered to seats pretty close to the bar. I got an Old Fashioned, which was fine but not mind-blowing. I had it with pretty high-end bourbon (you could feel the smoothness) but it was still missing something, in my opinion. Maybe it needed an edgy rim or something for a slight zip of flavor. It wasn't bad but didn't blow me away. We got a few apps, and I made my escargot debut. I'll be honest - not only had I never had escargot, but my primary knowledge base for it was an incident in a Babysitters Club Super Special book where Claudia has it on a date and hates it (I can't believe there was a time where I legitimately thought 13-year-olds went on dates to places with escargot). It tasted fine, well seasoned with just the right amount of butter, but the texture was predictably rubbery and wasn't my thing. I'm into a lot of seafood, but this genre with the snails and oysters doesn't do it for me. The crabcake was considerably better though I thought it relied a little too much on the breading than the actual crab. Decent though, like virtually everything else. At the casual urging of my bougie chum, we split the Wagyu steak, I believe the 8 oz portion. Delicious and easily the star of the show. It's probably heresy to even mention this in the context of a steakhouse review, but I'm more of a burger connoisseur. This was flavorful, tender, and I loved the presentation of the bone at the top of the bovine portrait. I imagine it's how a high-class caveman would have done it. Ultimately, everything was really good but not great. I think a lot of people would take that as a victory, but it's a hollow one for me because I've been fortunate enough to go to my share of truly amazing steakhouses. I wouldn't put this in that category, but Chops had a respectable showing.

Went for my birthday and I had some of the best steak I've ever had and it's reasonably priced for the type of establishment that it is would definitely recommend.
Be the first to ReplyThis was our anniversary dinner on our trip to Boston.
The ambiance was nice, very nice decor. Drinks were okay, I had to send my drink back for more simple syrup but it was corrected, no problem. I had the wagyu dumplings as an appetizer... I wouldn't get them again. They were okay, but not for almost $30. I had the beef Wellington entree and my partner had the wagyu 10 ounce. We also ordered brussel sprouts as a side. The brussel sprouts were inedible and we were comped for them. The entrees were incredible. The wagyu was obviously expensive but 100000% worth it. This was such a treat! No room for dessert. We would come back! * We aren't frequent patrons of upscale dining like this so I would warn those that ask for water -- you will pay for water. they offer still or sparkling water. We enjoyed our still water, it was refreshing, but we ran out before the end of our meal and didn't want to pay for another bottle.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect date night.
Kiko was our bartender who made our experience the best. We came in late and enjoyed a 5 star meal even though it was close to closing. We started with Duxbury oysters which were amazing as always, and the bruschetta. The popovers are the perfect texture. For our meal, we ordered 18 oz Ribeye medium rare with Creamed Spinach + Sautéed Mushrooms + Grilled Asparagus. Everything was cooked to perfection. duxbury oysters 5/5 bruschetta 5/5 spicy margarita 5/5 18 oz ribeye 5/5 spinach 5/5 mushrooms 5/5 asparagus 5/5 I wanted a particular dessert listed but they said they had run out. Kiko went to the back and found one last lemon blueberry cake and it was perfect. Boston Chops is absolutely 5 star restaurant, the food and service is phenomenal. ambiance: 5/5 drinks: 5/5 food: 5/5 service: 5/5 Boston Chops: 5/5

Went here during Restaurant Week, which was a decent deal and probably the only time I would go for a steakhouse. I liked the popover and crème brûlée the most.
Be the first to ReplyLocated on one of the side streets in downtown right
Located on one of the side streets in downtown right between Park St and downtown crossing. I came here on a Thursday night with a few friends. We were asked to move to the next table over to accommodate a bigger party and were compensated by an appetizer. We ordered the crab cake to share and the crab meat was soft and tender. I ordered the filet mignon frites with the recommended Bordelaise sauce. It was cooked perfectly to medium rare, pink and warm on the inside. I wasn't the biggest fan of the sauce flavor, but the meat was fine without it. The dish came with arugula and a side of fries. The fries were crispy and thin just like ones you would find at McDonald's. The dessert menu looked appetizing, but decided against getting any. They add a 3% to your bill for food service, but it can be removed if you ask them. Overall, a nice experience with good food and friends.
Be the first to ReplySomethjng has improved greatly since they've reopened.
The food is just simply better and I love it. Will definitely come back. Ask for the pork chop to be extra charred. It makes a huge difference imo.
Be the first to ReplyBoston Chop is a fine dining experience.
If you want to enjoy some of Boston's best cuisine eat here. The Chilean Seabass was magnificent! Everything from service to food gives you the best experience you can have.
Be the first to ReplyOn a fine summer night in 2018, we gathered with friends
On a fine summer night in 2018, we gathered with friends for dinner at Boston Chops, a fancy steakhouse in Downtown Crossing. This was our second time at a Boston Chops but the first time at this location. This location has an Instagram table and an old safe deposit vault from Old Colony Trust Company of 1890. Our server Ju was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and provided recommendations. For drinks, we shared a bottle of 2015 Flourent Rouve Macon-Villages Burgundy and 2014 Chateau De Birot Cotes De Bordeaux. Since I wasn't a red wine drinker, I enjoyed a Pineapple Shirley Temple and a Grapefruit Juice. The service throughout the meal was impeccable and everything we ordered was delicious. For bread service, everyone received a popover, which was served with communal butter. For salads, I'd recommend the Spring Salad, which consisted of grilled baby gem lettuce and pickled fiddleheads dressed in a green goddess dressing, and the Caesar Salad, which consisted of romaine tossed in a creamy caesar dressing topped with provolone cheese, white anchovies, lemon, and crouton. For soups, I'd recommend the French Onion Soup, which consisted of savory beef broth with caramelized spanish onions, bread with melted comte cheese, and chives. In terms of seafood items, I'd recommend the Mussels, Fresh Seafood Plateau: Royale, and Chilean Sea Bass. The mussels were cooked with pancetta, leeks, lemon, and thyme and served with a grilled lemon and grilled bread. The Fresh Seafood Plateau: Royale had oysters, clams, mussels, jumbo shrimp, ceviche, and two lobster tails. It was served with cocktail sauce, mignonette, and lemon wedges. The Chilean Sea Bass was pan seared and served over grilled spring onions, farro, fava beans, mushrooms, asparagus, and meyer lemon, and garnished with sprouts. For red meats, I'd recommend the 30oz Long Bone T Bone Steak, 18oz Food and Wine Prime Bone-In Ribeye, and 20oz Prime Chateaubriand. The 30oz Long Bone T Bone Steak was tender, juicy, and fatty. The 18oz Food and Wine Prime Bone-In Ribeye was topped with garlic confit with herbs. They were served with a red wine au jus, bearnaise, and horseradish. To go with our meats, we shared several sides including Herb Roasted Mushrooms, Bacon Roasted Brussel Sprouts, Grilled Asparagus, and Onion Rings with Spicy Aioli. For desserts, they stated that the Warm Chocolate Cake, Classic Creme Brulee, and Boston Cream Pops were shareable desserts. We ended up getting the Classic Creme Brulee and Pineapple Gelee Cheesecake. I liked how the creme brulee had a strong vanilla bean flavor. The Pineapple Gelee Cheesecake consisted of a rectangular cheesecake with a graham cracker crumble bottom topped with pineapple gelee, thin pineapple chips, and served with lime sorbet. At the end of our dinner service, we received a match tub with the Boston Chops logo sticker on it.

Be the first to ReplyMy boyfriend and I came here for restaurant week~ great
My boyfriend and I came here for restaurant week~ great deal, I'm glad we tried it. I would come back for restaurant week but probably not any other time because of how expensive it is normally. The food wasn't terrible but it just wasn't amazing. I personally didn't like the popovers that they first bring out but my boyfriend enjoyed them. I ordered the hanger steak and he ordered the skirt steak. I ordered mine medium and maybe that was my mistake because it was a little too tough still for me. He ordered his medium rare and I thought it was really good. The greens and fries on the side are a nice touch, I really enjoyed the crispy fries. As for dessert I really enjoyed the sticky toffee pudding. Would recommend that one over the almond one my boyfriend got. Overall, this place is good but nothing spectacular. The atmosphere is nice and the service was decent, but again, just nothing special. Definitely recommend for restaurant week, though!
Be the first to ReplyI really wanted to like this place.
Wasn't the experience I was hoping for. Our waitress was quick and efficient in ordering drinks/food. However, it took over an hour for anything to come out. I even asked the waitress a few times if everything was ok - very confusing. As for the food itself I got the NY strip ($52) and onion rings ($14). The steak was alright? Definitely not worth the price. The onion rings were flat out awful. Zero flavor. The restaurant layout/decor was nice and only thing holding me back from leaving a one star review. Hopefully this place turns it around soon.
Be the first to ReplyAfter many, many meals at their original south end
After many, many meals at their original south end location, this was my first time at the newer downtown location. Jose was our server and he was just wonderful! The ambience is great and the noise level was pretty low. Everything from the popovers to the filet were fabulous! I had steak frites, which can be dangerous seeing as it's basically endless frites...so good! The sticky toffee pudding for dessert was wonderful as well. Jose, the staff and the overall experience was just wonderful for both my friend and I and we cannot wait to come back!
Be the first to ReplyUnderwhelmed.
Steaks were just okay. Staff did not know who had which steak or a filet mignon from a ribeye.Popovers were yummy!
Be the first to ReplyMy friend has been to the south end location and swore
My friend has been to the south end location and swore by the food; as a group of four on a weekend... I expected the place to be full; however the less it was an enjoyable experience, steaks were on point and the appetizers were scrumptious.
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointed! I've been to the South End location
Very disappointed! I've been to the South End location several times and always had positive experiences so I expected the same at the Downtown location. My friends and I had a reservation for Friday and as we arrived we were asked to wait an additional 15 minutes although the restaurant was empty. We waited awhile for our server so we asked the host and he finally made his way over. The server did not offer us complimentary bread while we waited. The food took a very long time to come out. We only saw the server twice during our dine-in (to take our orders and deliver the bill).
