1st time trying hot pot ever and the food itself was great
1st time trying hot pot ever and the food itself was great the price point is high. Lots of options to self serve to add into your pot. They had an array of veggies, seafood & appetizers in the self serve. Service is slow and the reason for the low stars. If we're paying $130 for 2 people this better be some fast and attentive service. We felt like we kept having to hunt the server down. Went a few times and still will but the slow service just doesn't justify the price. Please have servers work certain areas of the restaurant vs the whole restaurant. My server was helping people on the complete opposite side of the restaurant so I can see why they wouldn't come back to us.
Be the first to ReplyNot worth the price for what you get.
And if you do want to spend 50 bucks per person for one meal make sure you bring your own water jug. Or you have to beg the waiter to give you water in the small paper cup (you know the one they use in the dentist office to rinse off your mouth). But that only happen if you catch them walking by your table, by my estimation they will only come by every 15 or 20 minutes. I was pretty sure I was dehydrated by the time I finish my meal. On the good note the interior of the restaurant is very peaceful and clean.

High quality meat, good service, easy parking at the structure behind the restaurant and validation is provided too. Interior is very nice as well.
Be the first to ReplyBon Shabu has a great selection of meats and vegetables.
It is supposed to be 1 communal split pot, but they also accommodated us with individual pots. I don't like seafood in mine and my friend loves seafood, so having my own pot flavored how I want it is ideal. We parked on the street, which was $1 per hour. But we found out that they have parking validation. I still don't know where the parking structure is though. I assume in the back where it stated about $3 per 15 minutes or $18 general. Pretty steep. The interior is very modern and everything is well cleaned and maintained. It is filled regularly. Amazingly, their fried chicken and donuts are so good. And that's not even a Shabu item. I don't have any complaints, but I would have liked some broccoli.

I won't repeat what others have mentioned, other than to say that we enjoyed our lunch in a luxious atmosphere. In particular, I wanted to mention that server David was exceptional and checked on us quite often. I appreciated this.

Glad to see that Bon Shabu relocated to a larger and brighter location. Food and service is still excellent. If anything, their buffet selection has grown without sacrificing quality. The servers were great. We didn't have to wait long to order and our meats came out quickly. The broths were tasty - we specifically enjoyed the Sukiyaki. Parking was validated. Definitely worth a try!

My family and I came here to warm up on a chilly day for lunch. The decor is nice and modern. We were seated in a comfy booth. Amongst the 4 of us, we got 2 pots with 4 different broths:- Tomato Base- Sukiyaki- Spicy Organic Beef Bone- Original For the meats, we pretty much tried everything but the pork collar, pork belly, and the chicken breast. While the broth is heating up, it was nice to have prepared food ready to eat as appetizers. We enjoyed the jap chae, chicken wings, and tempura vegetables. The buffet line has plenty of veggie options with additional seafood items such as shrimp, octopus, and clams.Sauce station has plenty of options as well.Unfortunately I felt let down because I did not enjoy the broths at all which in my opinion were lacking in flavor. The sukiyaki broth had too much soy sauce for my liking. My family agreed.Meat quality was good so thumbs up for that. Service was decent. There were a few times we had to flag down the waiter to refill meats. The dessert section was not good as the desserts are pre-made. The popsicles, although the signs indicate no sugar added were way too sweet.

My wife and I drove an hour this afternoon to eat at Bon Shabu. We kept thinking about Bon Shabu when we were eating at other Shabu restaurants. This time, my wife tried other types of meats. I tried the fish. The white fish was really good. They have a large variety of hot food, vegetables, mushrooms, noodles, sauces and desserts. They added fruit ice bars since the last time we were there. Again, this is an AYCE hot pot. The ice bar is one per person. We left very satisfied. Again, the food was excellent. DJ's rating: 4.85/5.00Would I come back? Definitely Yes.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was very fresh.
Service was on point lots of meats were provided in a timely manner when ordered, unlimited, fresh vegetables and seafood, well organized, and very clean atmosphere highly recommended.

The atmosphere of this place is great, with plenty seating and an open feel. Unfortunately, the food bar lacked variety as there were no eggs or quail eggs, which was disappointing. The original and beef l non-spicy broth that I ordered was quite bland, which was a letdown. Nevertheless, the staff was friendly and accommodating. Don't think I'll be back.

Food: 5/5Service: see belowSigh, really want to say this place is good/great, and I would of if that was based on the food alone. Let's start with that.Probably one of the nicest, cleanest places and decent meat offerings of any hot pot restaurant I've been to. Sukiyaki broth was one of the most tasteful I had. The meats were decent quality but the portions were small. That's irrelevant though since it's all you can eat. Unfortunately that's where the good experience ends. As many of others have said, the service, or should I say lack of service was frustrating. For a place that was maybe 60% full there's no reason to have to wait 20 min for someone to finally come to your table take to your meat/broth order, only because you had go up to someone to ask for service. For most of our dining experience we were left trying to get someone's attention to place an order for more water/meat/broth refill. The most frustrating part is 80% of the dining experience is getting your own food from the buffet area and cooking your own food. I'm just puzzled as to why the other 20% of having someone attend to your table is difficult. To be clear, I don't feel they were understaffed given the number of people at the restaurant. I do want to be fair though. Once we voiced our concerns, the service did improve towards the end of dining. But not everyone may be as vocal. For a premium price, I'd expect a better experience. Hope management can coordinate to properly allocate staff to each table. Seems like an easy fix. I would def come back if this was improved.

I appreciate Bon Shabu for having a clean restaurant that accommodates large parties. There's plenty of fried food options at the bar - tempura, wings, egg rolls, etc. Great selection of meats, veggies, seafood, noodles, sauce and some dessert. However, their meat cuts are super thin so you have to order a bunch of trays. It was a bit hard to re order because the service was slow albeit waiter was kind.Dinner is about 60$/person. You can park in the lot behind their building as they validate for 90 minutes.

Went back to give Bon Shabu one more try since it has potential to be so much better and i think it still does. They were still very under staffed and it took a while for our order to be taken but the meat and broth came out a lot faster than last time. They did get one order of our rboth wrong but they fixed it right away. They did start labelling everything and offer sauce at the buffet areas now so we didn't have to keep asking the workers for ponzu. They had yummy dessert section and all their veggies were all fresh. Daniel was our server and he was really great and kept checking on us so we really appreciated it. I do see them working really hard even with low staff so but forsure they need more staff but food and everything else was really good!

$58/person, weekend, worth while, yes or no?So, it is cold and gloomy Sunday lunch time. One of those days for something hot and broth that warm you up. We entered Bon Shabu after self parking in the adjacent parking lot.The place was empty as it was just opened 15-20 minutes ago.We were greeted and quickly sat at a clean table but it took a good 10 minutes before a server came to take our order and provide our choice of broth.I would have to say, the sauce, and appetizers were wide in choices. However, the seafood and vegetable variety were no different from other Shabu joints.Me and my family mainly eat only beef, we chose mostly non fatty offerings, 1,2, 6, and 7. From start to finish, the quality of meats were consistent. It was not like other places where the first round of meat was bright red and it became mostly brown and surrounded in fat there after. However, meats are not premium quality; just good, consistent quality. The servers and bus staff are quite courteous and hospitable but it took several attempts to get their attention. They are working hard for the tip but not worth paying beyond 18%.Good: clean dining hall/table (since it is fairly new), courteous staff (price $58/person, tip starts at 18%), appetizers (bulgogie, fried rice, egg roll, fried gyoza, chicken wings fried and sauced, garlic shrimp, sweat and sour pork, etc./desserts (various cakes, mini donuts, and popsicle "1 per customer").Bad: no valet parking, park in adjacent lot, pay $2 with validation from restaurant.Food and dining ambiance are par with most casual restaurants these days. For two adults to fill up on msg full of broth for $58/person, tax and 18% tip = $149.88. Not worth second visit. I find no value eating here.I was amazed by people just come here to fill up on Fried rice, wings and shrimp and do not eat shabu. It is there money.

I had a party of 2 and once we were seated, it took 15 minutes for our server to come and take our order for drinks and broth. Not only did it take a while for our server to come by, he served a larger party that came in after us. Once we flagged him down to get service, he was rude and told us he'll be by when he comes by. I'm not sure if he just had a bad shift, but after our encounter with him, we had another server (not upon request.) Our new server was a delight. I didn't grab his name, but he took our orders of meat with bliss and even shared a few suggestions. The food selection was alright, for the price that you pay, ($58 per person), the quality and service can definitely be improved.
