Another Sub-Par Expensive Koreanized Hot Pot
Another attempt of a "legit" hot pot in Koreatown. In a way, I guess a lot of people are considering Bon Shabu to be the replacement of Shabuya. The price is a bit steep for dinner, but their lunch special is a good one. The flavor of the broths are decent. Unfortunately, we weren't able to taste too much of a difference between the 5 or 6 options that they give to you. The orders come out in very small portions, so you have to keep ordering one dish after another. I don't mind this so much since the workers are pretty tentative. The meat selection are decent as well ranging from beef, pork, duck and fish. They have a "grab it yourself" vegetable, appetizer, and sauce bar. All the sauces are so sweet. I just wish they had regular red chili sambal available like all other hot pot places. Parking is only valet here, so take your wallets out for that extra $2 you have to pay.

It's quite cold in LA tonight, around 48? hubby and I feeling hot pot tonight. We came here thinking this is a regular shabu shabu spot, unfortunately, it wasn't. It's all you can eat. Uh oh, we are not big eater, we get full pretty quick, and we drink more than we eat. So yes, this is not good for us. Honestly, we were pleasantly surprised on their selections, meat is good, not too many options but taste good; Veggies, good selection too; broth! Yup, we like the super spicy (not that bad, just ghost pepper powder, you can do it) and vegetable broth. We had a good amount of food and 2 bottles of soju, $90. Not bad at all! One more thing, their service is great. All the servers are very attentive, maybe it's a Wednesday night, who knows :) 1 star off because it's all you can eat, if not, it's a solid 5 star restaurant.
