Overpriced and overcooked
Inattentive service, overcooked food. Pretty restaurant but I didn’t appreciate getting sat under the TV when I came to town and was trying to spend time with my daughter and her friends. Just disappointing.
Be the first to ReplyDon’t! Looks good but even the martinis are garbage
Worst food in NYC! The place looks beautiful, the food, drinks and service were just horrible. Absolutely waste of money. Stoped with a friend to celebrate for drinks and dinner and was the worst experience, unfortunately we were extremely hungry so we ate some of of the food. We obviously paid but for the first time in ever we left no tip. The male waiter was really the rudest, bright the wrong order and never came back again.
Be the first to ReplyBizarre aniseed sausages. Not good value
82 dollars for a very average breakfast. Service a bit slow bearing in mind it wasn’t very busy. No refill for coffee. Really bizarre aniseed (tarragon?) sausages which were inedible. Wouldn’t recommend. So many nice places around for better value
Be the first to ReplyAn appalling experience
Went to Bistro Leo for the Osteria delle Tre Panche pop up. The entire experience was appalling. The waitstaff had obviously been told to turn the tables as quickly as possible and there was not an Italian in sight, and that’s just the start. I cannot recall having had such bad service in a New York restaurant in the 30 years I have lived here, not to mention the almost 40 years I have been traveling in Italy.
Where to begin? First, I had specified in our reservation that one person in our party did not eat dairy products. He ordered a salad with oil and vinegar on the side and no cheese. Guess what? The dish came with cheese on it and the vinegar was not brought to the table. (The olive oil was already there.)
The entrees were served before the appetizer plates had been cleared.
We were not offered pepper for our salads or entrees, and I was not offered cheese for my pasta. When I requested pepper for my pasta, I was given a tiny shaker.
The server poured tap water into a glass of Pellegrino. (No one at the table was drinking tap water.)
The server asked if we wanted dessert as they were clearing the entrees. I asked them to come back in a bit.
The server brought regular coffee (which had overflowed into the saucer) when I had asked for decaf. I was then brought a half-full cup of dishwater-like decaf that was scalding. The coffee was served well after the dessert.
After finishing dessert and about a quarter of the coffee, the server — check in hand — asked if we wanted anything else. They could not have been more eager to slap it on the table.
The women’s rest room had no paper towels. The lighting in the men’s room wasn’t working.
The tables were so close together that we could hear everything being said at the tables on either side of us. The noise level was deafening.
When I complained to the manager about our experience, including the pepper shaker, he said,”Did you ask for fresh pepper? We would have brought it to you if you had asked.” “Who has to ASK for fresh pepper in a restaurant such as this?” I replied.
Finally, the cost. Good quality food costs a lot and I’m not one to quibble over prices. But this experience left me feeling insulted and ripped off.
Bistro Leo Presents Osteria Delle Tre Panche
Bistro Leo Presents: This pop up of Osteria Delle Tre Panche is a repeat performance in New York City. The Osteria was in New York at the now defunct Chef’s Club and made a profound impression on the foodie population of the Big Apple.
The scene at Bistrot Leo in the 60 Thompson hotel was rousing on the Saturday night we dined, with great energy, but quiet enough for conversation. We chose to sit at the bar, and Fausto immediately made us feel welcome and appreciated. He also explained how the pop up works: Chefs and managers from the Osteria Delle Tre Panche, a renown restaurant from Florence located on top of the Hotel Hermitage, fly to NYC and train the Bistrot Leo staff. The Osteria, on Friday, March 4th, took the Bistrot over for a month, and transformed it into a New York version of this Firenze iconic restaurant.
Delle Tre Panche is known for their truffle menus and cheesecake, and while the cheesecake was fine, the truffle dishes were sublime. TORTELLI DI PECORINO DI FOSSA AL TARTUFO, raviolis in a parmigiana truffle cream sauce, combined the earthiness of truffles with a subtle lightness. DELICIOUS! The COTOLETTA ALLA MILANESE CON PECORINO E TARTUFO veal milanese with melted pecorino slivers and fresh truffle, was out of this world. I wanted more, although it was a sizable serving. . Our other dish, TAGLIATA AL TARFUFO, sliced strip steak with fresh truffle, was flavorful and tender, with the truffles making the steak anything but ordinary. We ended our meal with that famous cheesecake. It was a memorable dining experience enhanced by our server/bartender Dr. Fausto, who has the charm of George Clooney and the worldliness of Éric Ripert. With several cocktails and two glasses of wine, the bill came to around $350 with tip. A bargain for such exemplary food and such a great time. Do not miss this pop up experience at Bistrot Leo.
Lousy almost horrid food
Just lousy - whatever you order mussels burger tartare pizza is awful and in some cases borderline horrid - why two not one star decent cocktails and very friendly stadd

First let me say that our selection of this restaurant was random while walking around SoHo. Other restaurants had waiting lines; Bistro Leo looked inviting, had a basic French menu, and was may 1/3 occupied at 7:45pm on a Friday night. Now I know possibly why.
The patio was bright with trellises of silk and plastic flowers overhead. These probably would have tasted better than the food. Marion, the waiter was very nice, albeit that he wouldn't take our appetizer order until we ordered our entrees. Odd, but ok, then bring our cocktails. Fifteen minutes later our drinks came. Place the crispy chicken appetizer and entre order for the salmon en paillote and the duck frites. The crispy chicken was crispy and was chicken, but otherwise tasteless even with the bland chili honey sauce on the side. It is now 8:15pm. Hungry. Wait. Wait. Wait. 45 minutes wait. During that time, no coming by the table by anyone to say it's on its way or anything. I could understand if the restaurant was busy, but it was still only 1/3 filled.
Finally at 8:55, the entrees arrived. I've never been to a French restaurant ever that didn't take some pride in presentation. OK, has nothing to do with the actual food, but my goodness , at least make some effort. My duck came crammed onto a small plate with fries, and two ramekins with the sauce au poivre and ketchup. The duck was both tough and flavourless. The sauce tasted like it was out of a jar. The pommes frites were Sysco bagged frozen I'm sure - they definitely weren't hand cut, but at least they tasted halfway good or it could have been just the sheer hunger at this point. Even then, they still were not up even to the standard of tasty fast food fries. I tried, but I couldn't eat more than maybe 1/3 of the duck. My partner did not fair much better. The salmon also had no flavour and was even more unappetizing to look at (see photo).
I don't mind paying New York prices for a delicious meal, but $9 for bottled water, $18 per cocktail, $17 for the chicken nuggets, $34 for the salmon, and $40! for the duck, with tip, all came to $190. What?
Uber arrived at 9:21. Next time, I'll wait in line at another restaurant. I advise the same. Walk on by.
Great dining experience
We enjoyed our meal in a very pleasant outdoor setting, not close to speeding cars and trucks. The staff was lovely and attentive
Be the first to ReplyBad Service!!!
The worst experience I ever had in NYC. They cancelled my delivery order without telling me. This is unacceptable, no care for the clients and really bad service.
Be the first to ReplyFrench bistro
French bistro attached to the Sixty Soho hotel. It's a good reliable restaurant very topical, French but nothing spectacular.
Nice setting good professional service.
They also provide room service to the hotel and it's fresh and tasty.
C’est Bon
Typical New York take on a French bistro a all three charms and short comings you would expect.
Nice place, nice staff, good food - all could be improved but you get the impression that’s how management wants it to remain.
