Wonderful service, brilliant food!
Ate here for catch-up Sunday Brunch with friends and were blown away by the level of service provided. We had our own private room which was great as we have a 4 month old baby. The staff also provided a high chair, kids books and kids snacks! all waiting for us when we arrived. Top marks. The food itself was delicious and well worth the visit alone!

Apparently this was the last weekend service of the restaurant before it closes for refurbishment, the staff get let go, and it reopens at some point in a different incarnation. This explains my title, as tbh we found the whole thing disappointing for the price point - if you want to overpay for style over substance food whilst eating in a location that resembles your Nan's front room, this might have been the restaurant for you... Sark aside, when the restaurant got the food right, it was superb - the chocolate and cherry parfait with chocolate 'doilly' was fantastic, as was the pastry on the langoustine roe. The accompanying wine flight was also good, but otherwise it fell short. Detail below. Food: The scallop was nicely cooked but overpowered by the chilli. The curried skink was an oily, stodgy mess in the bowl that looked unappetising and was over spiced with fenugreek, giving it a medicinal aftertaste. The roe deer should have been lovely, but the texture with the white onion puree and the odd tartare wrapped in seaweed on a separate plate made it difficult to eat and the whole thing had an unpleasant, slimy, mouth feel. Was not impressed with the 3 day reduction jus. The 'leftovers' looked unpleasant and tasted of very little - if you have to go in to your zero waste policy at length to explain a dish, its probably not going to be your best. Service: Generally friendly, but the maitre d seemed to become increasingly erratic over the course of the evening, and our petit fours got forgotten about, blamed on a 'miscommunication'. Ambience: it really does feel as if you are sitting in a retirement home. At best described as 'quirky' it has 70s wallpaper, mismatched furniture, plant pots tied with string to room dividers and oddly low chairs (both myself and my dining partner had sore legs at the end of the night). Music was jarring and too loud - I dont mind the Rolling Stones, but not in the context of an ostenibly fine dining restaurant, and interestingly another couple complained about the volume when we were there. Finally the lighting in the toilet was ludicrously low - lord knows what you would do if you had poorer eyesight - there's mood lighting, but this was 'accident waiting to happen' territory. Final points: Price for 2 was over 420.00 before gratuity. For that price point for the quality of what we received, maybe it is indeed time for a change.

Great dining experience offering excellent food in beautiful surroundings. The tasting menu was great and the tastes amazing.
Be the first to ReplyA great meal in Dennistoun
We chose the ‘wee taster’ menu which offered a variety of tastes, flavours and textures. The wines we had were described in fine detail by the manager and sommelier Mark and nicely complemented the food. We loved the ambience of the restaurant and the friendly interaction with the staff. All in all we had an excellent experience and one we would highly recommend.

Amazing restaurant space food out of this world … bittersweet visit as restaurant is working so hard to keep providing amazing food in very difficult circumstances. The food was incredible 7 course tasting lunch total menu curated and pitch perfect staff were amazing single chef working in the kitchen brilliant Victorian townhouse in the super hip duke street

Such a special place to go, our go to if we have something to celebrate. Food and out of this world, sommelier choices also complimented our meal perfectly.
Be the first to ReplyStuffy and dull
Stuffy and crap Food bland and dull Zero atmosphere We didn’t even finish our menu as it was so bad Just buzz words like “cultured honey” as if the bees have read catcher and the rye and own the smiths back catalogue on tape. Waitress seemed to be kept there against her will in this strange bizarre place. We didn’t even finish all the food and left after 4 courses it was so boring

This was a fantastic place to eat - the service was superb, the food was just lovely with a fabulous mix of flavours in each dish and over the seven courses PLUS a great touch that each course is described and we had some questions which were answered with ease. This was the same for the wine, we tried a Bulgarian red for the first time and the staff had all the info plus decanted back into the bottle - which I'd never seen. It was just a great experience which we will repeat!

We’ve visited Bilson Eleven on various occasions over the past few years. We keep going back for two simple reasons: the amazing food and great service. This time we had spotted an offer on It Is On. As usual we were welcomed and shown to our table at the window. The food was delicious, as always, and the matching wines were great (Mark really does know his wine choices inside out). Look forward to going back for our next visit later in the year.

Welcoming staff , very knowledgeable of their menu, food was excellent, well presented and made to feel as if we were guests as opposed to paying customers, a gem not to be missed if you enjoy quality seasonal food, look forward to our next visit .

There aren’t enough superlatives to correctly express the gastronomic experience we had in this restaurant. It is grossly grossly underrated in this guide. The menu is super creative and the food perfectly prepared and delicious. This place should have at least one Michelin.

Cannot understand why this fantastic restaurant does not have a Michelin star…..it is sublime from front of house to every delicious mouthful . Thank you to Mark and Nick. We look forward to a return visit.

Where to Start with Bilson 11. Warm and friendly welcome from our Maitre D who remained attentive but not invasive as some can be throughout our meal.He was knowledgeable about the food including provinence. The tasting menu created by chef Nick / owner Nick was up there with the best we have ever tasted including several Michelin star restaurants we have dined at. The delicious combinations of flavours was refreshing and played with your palate in a way that i have not experienced in many years. From Langoustines and scallops from Uist set off with beautiful aromatic birch and pine to the flavours of Ardbeg whiskey subtle enough not to oversell but smoky and peaty enough to leave a hint of deliciousness to the dish.My and favourite dish was difficult to choose ,a sign of a wonderful dining experience, as each dish was as delicious as the last. However the venison with cherry and cacao was special.Soft and delicate it was amazing. My wife confirms so i must be right!! The wine was delicious from the fizz premier cru to a lovely warming Bulgarian red that complimented each dish as we went along thanks to the assistance of our Maitre D Mark . This is not a cheap night out but not an expensive one either given the quality of produce used and the expert way in which it was cooked ,presented and served . A wonderful experience that we will definitely repeat and would encourage all to try.
Be the first to ReplySuperb as always
Another great experience at this gem of a restaurant. Never fails to live up to its high standards.
Superb food, only downside was that couldn't have the matching wine this times because of Covid restrictions. Maybe next time...
Exceptional
Exceptional food, wine and service! Cosy private dining for 4 of us. Pricey up worth every penny. It was a wonderful experience and I'd highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys the finer foods in life.

Absolutely outstanding experience. I love the way this business is run in a beautifully renovated townhouse to the highest of standards with only a waiter and head chef working truly impressive without even getting to the food.
The quality and flare in the execution of the food was unbelievable. The jus/consume/velouté for each dish had so much depth of flavour I can’t even describe. When a place takes so much care in something as humble as a bit of bread it speaks volumes of what these guys can really do. The paired drinks were also fantastic and you can tell the effort and passion it took to match each drink.
By far the best meal I’ve had because of the experience and the care these guys offer. Worth every penny and more. This is a must try if you can even get a table.
Outstanding Experience
I want to start by saying that I visited in 2018 but did not leave a review at the time so I cannot comment for the current service, that being said, here's my 2 cents worth:
We started with a cocktail before our meal which was a nice kick off.
The food was amazing, topped off by even better service!
The tasting menu was impeccable.
The in-house smellier was the icing on the cake. Genuine interest in the wine and all of the notes he described were there.
A lovely little place to visit, should you find yourself in Glasgow for the weekend.
