We were disrespected before we could even put in a drink
We were disrespected before we could even put in a drink order. When we walked up to the outside dining area, we were told by the servers to take a seat wherever we could find an open spot. We found two separate tables so decided to split our party in two, and pay separately. I guess that pissed off our server because she came by to tell us we weren't allowed to do that and walked away without giving us a moment to explain anything to her. It was very clear she didn't feel we deserved the time of day to talk to us and hear us out. The server thought I didn't speak German and was talking shit to the table next to us about the way our party didn't follow their social norms but refused to speak to us. When I called her out she sarcastically apologized in a very disrespectful way. I wouldn't recommend going to this restaurant unless you're a German-speaking person. Otherwise, you might piss the servers off for whatever reason and get disrespected. We just wanted to eat and enjoy the river.
Be the first to ReplyThis is my first time traveling to Germany.
I thought visiting Berlin would be fun, so here I am. I got hungry and looked up what places have good food and decided to eat here. When we got here it wasn't too busy, but people kept coming in. The waiter, Tony, is the only waiter working right now and he's doing a fabulous job. He has at least 13 tables that he is serving all at once, he's answering the phone, he's switching from speaking German to speaking English within seconds which is hard to do when you're focusing on it. He deserves such an applaud for doing all of this AND still having a great attitude. This is the place to go and Tony is the guy to ask for.

This pub was recommended by a staff member at our hotel, and it did not disappoint. It was the evening after the Berlin marathon, so it was packed. Some tables were marked as "reserved," so we opted to sit at the bar. We were able to order food there as well. Service was good for it being SO busy, but the bartender was brusque and not very nice. He was the friendliest when my husband opted to pay in cash versus by card. I wanted a hefeweizen beer, but it wasn't listed as such on the (extensive!) beer menu. When I mentioned this, he retorted, "Of course we have hefeweizen, this is Germany!" in a rather harsh, impatient tone. He pointed it out on the menu, and it wasn't listed as "hefeweizen," so how was I to know this as an American?? Perhaps a more knowing beer connoisseur would know this, but hey, isn't this part of his job, to help customers understand the menu? Ugh! I ordered the schnitzel, which was plentiful and served atop a nice, warm potato mixture. Schnitzel was crisp on the outside and moist inside. Yum! Yes, I did enjoy the hefeweizen too....

Taste of traditional German food! Good foods, good beers, good service. Price is reasonable, not too expensive. ย Price for two is about โฌ35.
Be the first to ReplyA whole lot of decent.
Decent beers, decent food, decent service. You won't be disappointed but I'm not sure it'll become your new favorite place either. Great wall-themed memories everywhere though - that was pretty cool to see.I'd happily come back if I'm in the area or invited but it's not necessarily a place I'd seek out. Basically, it's good enough.

It is not fancy, but great lively place with fantastic traditional food. ย Place seems to always have people, great great place to come for a beer and a great snitzel, roasted duck or pork knuckle.

Meh. So not impressed. Service slow and not very welcoming. The potato soup was quite yummy-- everything after that was mediocre.
Be the first to ReplyWithin walking distance from our hotel, Melia Berlin.
It is one of many restaurants that has outdoor seating overlooking the Spree river. Service was great, everyone speaks English, and there were a lot of options on the menu. I tried currywurst, which was pretty good, but heavy, especially washed down with all that beer! We also got a side of sauerkraut, which I really enjoyed - nice and tangy (and good for digestion. Yay probiotics!).

Good prices and delicious german food. Highly recommend to taste flammkuchen.
Be the first to ReplyThe worst place in Berlin.
Service is rude, slow, terrible. They rely on stupid tourists to stay in business.
Be the first to ReplySooooooooooo.
... After am awesome workout at the gym on Christmas wandered rhe streets of Berlin in search of a culinary introduction to "Yole tide". ย Almost ended up at am Irish and an Italian restaurant but the universe directed to Republik. The food was phenomenal. The wait staff were fluent in English and German (great as my English sucks ). They served promptly and with professionalism and courtesy. Definately coming back.
