Bathtub Gin New York Reviews from The Last Year
Amazing vibe and cocktail.
Would recommend this to everyone to have a great night..........
Obsessed with this place now! Went on a Monday night
Obsessed with this place now! Went on a Monday night ~9:30/10pm to celebrate my friend's birthday, and it was surprisingly so busy & such great vibes! We didn't have a reservation, but they luckily had a table available for us 5! I usually don't love live music, but they did such a great job and added a nice jazzy vibe; I also liked that they weren't too loud, so you could still comfortably chat. We ordered the sangria carafe, and it was presented nicely with fruit in all the glasses, etc.! I was also obsessed with the menus being newspapers; just loved all the little touches. I bet the espresso martini is delish since they're a coffee shop during the day (and then this place is the speakeasy behind)! They do charge a lot of fees, like I think they charged a live entertainment fee of some sort and maybe a large party fee? Though it was worth it for the fun experience!
I rarely wrote bad reviews.
. but my friend & I came for a low-key drink on a Tuesday. She ordered wine, I ordered a Shirley Temple (I wasn't drinking but wanted something fun). The bartender combined our tab- totally fine. I was prepared to pay for my drink regardless and I always tip. We tipped 25%. Immediately after we paid, the bartenders made fun of my friend and I (to our face) in Spanish. My friend & I speak fluent Spanish. They made fun of how I had my credit card pulled out and was waiting to pay for a $3 soda..? Along with a few other comments..Like really? Who wants to pay $25 for a glass of wine to then have your bartender make passive-aggressive comments about you in a language that he assumes you don't understand? If you're visiting from out of town- this place isn't worth it. Go to Le Bain, Mulberry Downtown, or literally anywhere else. Side note: the grenadine at this place gave me explosive diarrhea. It definitely wasn't stored properly- my stomach hurt for the rest of the night.
Not a Speakeasy but a College Like Bar
No no no it’s not a speakeasy. It’s a 20 something bar with a non descriptive entrance. They have a DJ playing 80s music. Drinks are inventive. Decibels average 90.2. It’s loud in here. You yell to be heard across a table of 2. No speakeasy vibe but if you want to hang with your friends talk loud and drink come here. The only thing “speakeasy” about the place is the hidden door.
Hidden speak easy in NYC.
Cool and dark inside. Drinks are good and the staff works hard!
Amazing
Officially my favorite bar of all time. Speak-easy vibe, great staff, wonderful drinks, 70's music - kicking it. Will be back
Went tonight and the service was incredible!! I recommend
Went tonight and the service was incredible!! I recommend getting a reservation. The vibe was on point with dim lighting and the photogenic bathtub setting the room. We ordered the s'mores dessert for my friend's birthday and it was so delicious! Our server was Chris and he was just the best! He took photos of us and even gave us bday drinks!! We had the best time!10/10 experience
It's sleek and very speak easy, doorman a chill button but
It's sleek and very speak easy, doorman a chill button but other than that it's def worth a visit!
4 stars for the vibe and atmosphere, 3 stars for the drinks.
Bathtub Gin is tucked away behind a nondescript street-level entrance. Their speakeasy environment and atmosphere is pretty cozy and fun, and we had a small candlelit table. Service was great and friendly, but our drinks were okay only - mine was much too sweet and had a ton of ice. I'd go back for the ambiance and experience.
Amazing speakeasy vibes! Came on a Saturday night, didn't
Amazing speakeasy vibes! Came on a Saturday night, didn't have a reservation but was seated in ~10mins! Drinks were great, and would absolutely come back to try more of their menu!
Such a neat and fun speakeasy! We enjoyed the chicken
Such a neat and fun speakeasy! We enjoyed the chicken sliders and we also enjoyed the old fashions. The gin drinks seemed to be "watered down" and lost flavor because of the large amount of ice used. A fun place to visit!
AMBIENCE: (5/5) - Cozy & dimly lit, with antique furniture
AMBIENCE: (5/5) - Cozy & dimly lit, with antique furniture and colorful wall paper. A typical speakeasy vibe. Love the famous bath tub in the middle of the room - All the servers are wearing straps & collared shirts, very nice touch. Brings you back to the 1920's SERVICE: (4/5) - Standing room only if you don't have reservations, even though we were there on a rainy night during a storm with no line & plenty of tables empty - Drinks were made quickly, although we weren't ever asked how we were doing or if we wanted another drink once we were done. Most of the service had to be flagged down but when FOOD/DRINKS: (5/5) - Ducky Highball (5/5): Don't usually go for whiskey but damn, this one goes down easy. That hint of the Amaro & honey was perfect. - BTG Espresso Martini (5/5): Had a lot of espresso martinis and this one hits the mark. Perfectly sweet & bitter, hit me with a great whiff of caffeine which was must needed - Estu Yuzu Gin (4/5): very refreshing & bright. Reminds me very much like the drink version of Nami Nori's Cucumber Black Sesame Temaki roll from their Signature set OVERVIEW: (4.5/5) - Must have drink: Ducky highball - Would come here again to grab a few drinks, reservations rec if you don't want to spend all night standing
One of my absolute favorite spots in NYC! The ambiance is
One of my absolute favorite spots in NYC! The ambiance is perfect... you have the feel that you jumped back to the 1920s. Our drinks were fantastic as well! Definitely recommend
Great ambience & beverages
Visiting bath tub had been on my list for a while. It was a hot night but it was refreshingly cool inside. We enjoyed some cocktails, wine & pizza and had a fantastic time. Highly recommend.
Worth a visit
A really cool place..best speakeasy we have been to..really good service and drinks were very good! Definitely worth a visit!
Very cool prohibition era speakeasy with a gin focused
Very cool prohibition era speakeasy with a gin focused cocktail menu. If you like gin, you have to check it out! My friend and I decided to check it out because we had time to kill before our dinner reservation nearby. I wish we had more time because there were so many interesting gin & tonic variations. We did not have reservations for Bathtub but managed to grab the standing table by the door. I got the BAYAB ORANGE AND MARULA GIN and it was delicious! Cool vibe and nice decor. Would definitely go back!
Step Back in Time at Bathtub Gin Bathtub Gin is not just
Step Back in Time at Bathtub Gin Bathtub Gin is not just another speakeasy; it's a captivating journey back in time, where the ambience and style of the Prohibition era come to life in the most delightful way possible. While speakeasies may sometimes feel gimmicky, Bathtub Gin captures the essence of these clandestine cocktail lounges with an authenticity that's simply infectious. Stepping into Bathtub Gin is like stepping into a bygone era of clandestine revelry. The atmosphere is brimming with charm and intrigue, making it the perfect spot for a memorable date night or a fun evening out with friends. And let's talk about the giant bathtub in the middle of the room - it's not just decor, it's an invitation to indulge in some playful antics once you're nice and toasty. The service at Bathtub Gin is top-notch, with staff who are not only knowledgeable but also genuinely enthusiastic about crafting the perfect cocktail experience tailored to your preferences. Whether you're a seasoned cocktail aficionado or a curious novice, they're happy to offer recommendations that suit your taste. Now, let's talk cocktails - the real stars of the show. I had the pleasure of trying the S'mores Old Fashioned, and let me tell you, it was nothing short of phenomenal. Each sip revealed layers of infusion that elevated it from a mere cocktail to a truly special experience. The Tin Pan Alley Punch was another standout - a unique tiki drink that packed a punch of flavor and creativity. And of course, no visit to Bathtub Gin is complete without sampling their gin & tonic, featuring gins from all over the world. In addition to the outstanding cocktails, Bathtub Gin also offers excellent food options that perfectly complement your libations. The truffle fries and beet and blackberry salad both hit the spot, providing a delightful accompaniment to a few drinks in you. Bathtub Gin is more than just a speakeasy; it's an immersive journey into the world of craft cocktails, vintage charm, and delectable cuisine. From the moment you step through the door to the last bite of your meal, you're transported to a time of clandestine indulgence and playful sophistication. With excellent service, exceptional cocktails, and delicious food offerings, Bathtub Gin is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking an unforgettable night out in town.
If you enjoy the atmosphere of a 1920's speakeasy, great
If you enjoy the atmosphere of a 1920's speakeasy, great music, and a gin lover like myself... then Bathtub Gin is an easy choice. The place feels yummy, a necessary departure from the hustle and bustle of New York City streets. Me and friend descended on Bathtub Gin one Friday evening after partaking in a delicious early dinner in the Meat Packing district. The place was full but soon after a few patrons left we were welcomed in and found a great place to stand at the top of the bar. We eagerly watched the Burlesque show and we sipped the tastiest gin cocktails. After the last performance, we tried the s'mores dessert equipped with a small grill to put some char on the marshmallows. All and all we had a blast and can't wait to return.
Unsure how this place gets less than five stars but this is
Unsure how this place gets less than five stars but this is one of the dopest speakeasies in NYC! Came for the first time in 2019 with friends and had a blast. Revisited this past year with me wife, friend, and his fiance and had a blast! Dark inside but add's to the atmosphere! And there's literally a bath tub in the middle of the room! Love the drinks there! Those espresso martinis are DANGEROUSLY GOOD! Service is usually okay. It's packed sometimes so I feel their attitudes reflect that lol
Kicked off 2024 with a bang!
Came for the new years eve party. Amazing evening. Taster style food service was great. Show was fantastic, and most of all the cocktails were fabulous. The serving staff worked their butts off to look after everyone and our waitress, Charity was terrific. Saw in the new year in style with dancing and champagne. Our favourite cocktail bar in NYC, we keep coming back.
Cool decor but service is bad and drinks aren't very good
Cool decor but service is bad and drinks aren't very good by NY standards. Not bad but not good either. It's also one of those places that's full of itself. We had reservations, but the bouncer was smug and made us wait outside 5-10 minutes while the coat room opened. Then once we got in, we had to wait more at the bar but no bartender was available to take a drink order while we waited for the seat we reserved. Waitress wasn't very attentive when we did sit down although it was busy, so I get it. We didn't like the drinks though. The decor and menus and stuff are cool though :)
Had a really good time here, and was a little sad that I
Had a really good time here, and was a little sad that I went only for one drink while my dinner reservation was ready. The drink menu had a lot of intriguing options and got to try some of my friends drinks, they where ALL GOOD. Its very chill and not that big, with great music and the friendliest staff. Recommended 100%
Nothing much to add.
Always a great place to grab cocktails. Be sure to make reservations.
Super awesome Speakeasy!
We went to this fun Speakeasy with a reservation at when they open for the evening. At the magic hour, a staff will come out and let you in a group at a time. Through a secret door, a whole different world opens up before you. Dim lights and romantic antique decor, you are transported to the twenties. And true to their name, they have a bathtub in there. You can take all sorts of fun pictures with, in, or around this beautiful clawfoot bathtub. We sure did! For drinks, we each ordered a different cocktail. We got Giggle Juice, a mystery cocktail with egg white, Porter’s Tropical Old Tom Gin, and Bombay Premier Cru Gin & Matcha. Giggle Juice was very pineapple-y. Sweet but not overly sweet, tropical and fruity. So tasty! My husband loves a cocktails with egg white on top, so he asked about it. Our server recommended a cocktail that they can make, but not on the menu. It was really great! Porter’s Tropical Old Tom Gin was nice and tropical, refreshing, and with a little kick. Bombay Premier Cru Gin & Matcha had a nice hint of matcha flavor, but not so present. This one was elegant, fruity, and so tasty! They sure make amazing cocktails here!! For food, we ordered a few items to share. Truffle Agnolotti, Royale with Cheese, and Oysters Rockefeller. They were all amazingly delicious! We enjoyed them all so much, and the portion size was pretty nice too. Totally shareable. We were super happy with the quality, flavor, and the portion. We then ordered BTG Espresso Martini and S’mores Old-Fashioned, we of course enjoyed both cocktails so much! We also added a couple of dishes, Wedge Salad and Shrimp Toast. We were once again amazed at how tasty they were, happily surprised! Since were having such an amazing time here, we decided to get some desserts to end the evening. We ordered NYC Cheesecake which was not your average cheesecake, and yes, delicious! The second item was Affogato, that came in a tea cup which was adorable, and then last but not least, S’mores, which was a real deal, make-your-own-S’mores experience. It was so much fun! Who knew you could roast your own marshmallow in a speakeasy??? This place rocked! We had a massive fun time here. The service was friendly, efficient, and we were always taken well care of. Once thing to note, the gratuity of 20% was added to our bill, which we were more than happy to oblige. The manager made sure that we were aware of it, so that we don’t add another 20%. Very considerate. All the drinks and food we had were really good, we were all happy and full. We would definitely go back for more fun time in the future!

Had a really good time visiting this bar.
The decor, drinks, food and wait staff were all fabulous. Will definitely be coming back the next time I'm in NYC! Reservations are highly recommended!
Don't touch the dancers, but the dancers might touch you!
A fabulous night. Miss Peekaboo Pointe and Miss Poison Ivory certainly lived up to the fine print on the ticket: Don't touch the dancers, but the dancers might touch you. This is a quality venue. Server was excellent, food value for money. Burlesque entertainment of the highest class. No surprise to find Miss Peekaboo Pointe has a master degree in the creative arts.

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

almost all restaurants aren't affiliated with AT and I'm guessing it's mostly people wanting to not pay cancellation fees.

Reservations could be posted for a variety of reasons. Most likely, the person who secured the reservation can no longer attend - to avoid accruing a "no show" fee, they can find someone to take their place.
