Absolutely love Bar George!! Neat, retro decor with an open kitchen concept accompanied by fantastic cocktails. Highly recommend the Spanish Fly or their house dirty martini! Haven't tried all of the food options yet but so far the oysters and salads have been fantastic.
Very disappointing
Lovely ambience & staff but…. sadly, nothing was a “wow”, interesting or delicious. The shrimp & tilefish tasted “old”, even “off”, the potted radish was off putting. Charleston has SO many fabulous restaurants, this is not in that league. Head to Lowland Tavern for mouth watering and innovative or SNOB!
High quality and innovative menu.
Unmatched vibe. Swanky bar. Everything was delicious!
James island stalwart.
Bar George is in the middle of a bustling restaurant row surrounding the terrace movie theater. Grabbed a couch in the cozy corner of this clubby comfortable space. The tail end of happy hour, and had some great five dollar IPAs. the star of the show was a Peruvian half chicken with smoky spices, some kind of dip and lime. It was a unique offering that I thoroughly enjoyed. Even though busy my server was a ton of an excellent.
I love the chill, casual vibe of this spot.
My buddy has worked here for a while, but I never had a chance to visit until now. Of course, I had the Peruvian chicken and it was delicious. The accompaniments are great, and it's almost like a tapas style menu since most items are fairly inexpensive, thus the smaller portions. I also had the kraut dog which was better than I expected. The doughnuts are very obviously fresh made and crafted to order, which is a nice touch. Not hit-you-over-the-head sweet, but flavorful. We sat at the bar and the service was attentive, consider how full the restaurant was.
Good service and location on Maybank.
Get the Peruvian Chicken! The hot dog was tasty. The red wine was tasty along with the donuts.
Fun fun fun atmosphere.
The decor alone is worth the visit. Go there, grab a drink at the bar and walk around. The Classic open kitchen, 50's TV fish tank, video games and art make this a kick back spectacle. Love it. Fine bartenders and drinks and a lot more interior space than appears.

Okay ignore the fuzzy photos, but I do think the spicy margarita as great as it was, had me feeling a bit fuzzy! Lol. Drinks were incredible! The pina dog did surprise me.. but wow it was packed with some flavor and I was surprised at how much I liked it! My friend enjoyed her donut! Looked good. I mean you can't go wrong with Bar George. Music is great, service is good, drinks are great and it's just overall a perfect local hang. Will definitely be back again soon!

We hit up Bar George on a friend who recommended the Peruvian chicken. We ordered a whole bird for the two of us - we were worried that it would be too much food, but turns out... We also ordered a salad and a couple glasses of wine. The ended up being delicious and awesome! A unique crunchy crusty on the chicken gave way to a fully cooked and flavorful bird inside. We are this part followed by that part, then a nibble here and a slice there, next thing you know most of it is gone! We brought home just enough for a couple of chicken sandwiches for lunch, which went down just as easy as last night's dinner. We also shared their Boston cream donut, which also was a nice surprise as I was skeptical. Very delicious and one was enough for the two of us to share. Service was attentive and friendly, and knowledgeable about their food. Definitely had a bar layout than a restaurant, with several high top tables, a few regular tables, and a low table surrounded by stuff chairs and sofa. Great place on James I, we will be back.
Amazing food
Me and my wife loved this place on our recent visit to Charleston. We choose to do the tasting menu we are so happy we did. The food was all amazing. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable of everything. We will surely return to this restaurant again next time we are in Charleston it’s a must go
An Experience Not To Be Repeated
This is a dining experience you will not forget nor would we repeat. The food was well presented but over the top. Zero is impressed with itself, the staff demonstrates it in their demeanor, and the cost. Multiple small courses (I think about 12).
The drinks were great.
spencer was amazing. Great location great food and great customer service

My new favorite watering hole! I cannot tell you how much I love this place. I must've walked past it for years! The simple menu is all you need. My go to's are the daily crudo-so fresh, shrimp dip, and the boston cream doughnut! Wow!! Everything is so darn good! Great spot if going to the Terrace Theater. Love that I have finally discovered it!
Amazing.
What an exquisite experience where every bite got better and better culminating with the best donut of my life.
An experience!
This was an experience! We went as a group of girls arranged by a friend, not knowing what to expect. I believe we had 13 courses, all intricately prepared and explained to us. Most of them absolutely delicious! It was a pricey night but worth the experience. Very cute ambience.
Rushed... the experience is more than simply the food consumption!
The staff were all exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The food was beautiful and the tasting menu was an eclectic palate teaser for sure! The wine pairings were lovely… (Except the one cider we didn’t like that one.) I would’ve loved to give this restaurant 5 stars but I am only giving it 4. Both my partner and I left, feeling extremely rushed throughout our entire meal, to the point of having indigestion. For the high price tag on this experience, we felt extremely rushed. I understand that the food was coming out at set times but strongly encourage the chef to consider making it a three hour experience rather than two. We added the caviar experience on ($45 each), as I absolutely adore caviar. The way it was served was a dollop on our hand and it became a caviar shooter! Not an enjoyable way to do caviar we would prefer to take small bites and enjoy sipping on vodka rather than doing it like a tequila shot! Interesting experience, but again felt like we were just being rushed so they can get the next plates on the table. I do not recommend adding the caviar onto the tasting menu due to this approach. They do not give you extra time they just make you consume quicker. We were never without food on the table or drinks. They just kept bringing more and we didn't even have time to finish what we had before us. We spent close to $1,000 just for the two of us. This experience could’ve been outstanding, but we both left feeling a little disappointed for the rushed feeling of the entire 2 hours and 20 minutes. Again, I strongly recommend making the experience longer, allowing people to enjoy the moment and process their food in between servings.
Foody
Great tasting menu. The breakfasts were also superb. Staff were friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was quiet and sedate.
Must try Charleston experience.
Excellent meal in a small intimate setting. Tasting menu was exceptional, well on par with two and three star Michelin experiences that we have enjoyed. What made the night even better was the entire staff, all of whom took time to explain the unique courses and also visited for short periods between courses offering information about the town and other venues we should try. This showed confidence in their own fare and made the overall evening even better. Kudos as well to the chefs for the fresh choices and fantastic techniques displayed throughout the meal.

Hi, I have a reservation to Nobu Malibu, but since they don't do text or e-mail confirmations I haven't been able to get my reservation posted. I have posted a screen shot of the phone conversation on the listing, but it keeps getting rejected. If anyone has an idea how I can get it approved that would be much appreciated, thanks!

Write a note with the Name of the restaurant, Name on reservation, day/time/number of people, your phone number. Then on the bottom wrote “confirmed by phone”. Screenshot it and submit.
