BANGIA New York Reviews from The Last Year

3.5/5 Excited I got to try out this spot! Bangia is a restaurant located downstairs, and has a classic pocha vibe. It's dark, with lots of string lights, neon signs, and music. Very club/restaurant fusion. There are a number of waiters on the floor, but i dont think youre assigned one waiter, which can make it confusing on who to flag down. Me and a friend got the Bangia Gimlet and Matcha rice wine. The matcha rice wine has that distinct rice wine flavor, and a light matcha taste. The gimlet was really strong and lemony! We also tried the jjangjang seafood tteokbokki in a fermented black soybean sauce. It came with plenty of squid and shrimp, and a hard boiled egg on top. It's sweet and savory, and plenty of seafood flavor! We also got the seafood pancake which was crispy outside and soft inside! I wish the side sauce was stronger in flavor. Lastly, we got the tuna mayo rice balls, which were my favorite part! Dishes ranged from $20-$35 per dish, so a little high, but would be fun for a big group to share!

Incredible gastropub and I've never had jjajangmyeon tteokbokki (I forget what it is called) but now I'll never have anything else. Beware though, everything is spicy as hell!
Year after year this place is still my TOP fav pocha.
The food portion is huge, and most of all the workers here are all just so funny and have top tier service. They joke around with you while making sure that you have everything you need, and are part of the experience. It's very spacious with both indoor and outdoor seating with great alcoholic drinks that are so yummy and sweet! They also have weekday deals of like signature cocktails for only 10 dollars on a Tuesday, etc. so you can really come here any time of the week and have a great time!
Love the atmosphere.
It was really pretty. Pretty scared out seating. Had the soju cocktail (liter) with kimchi pork pancake and army stew. Both were pretty good. I came with party of 6 there was no wait on weeknight.

Was recommended to come to Bangia in NYC's K-Town for the Soju/Makgeolli Bingsoo by a couple of TikTok videos, and was unfortunately disappointed by the hype. My friend and I went on a Thursday night, in which Bangia offers $3 shots, IIRC, which we had decided to skip out on as we were excited for the Bingsoo. We ordered a Mango Bingsoo with Soju and a Lychee Bingsoo with Makgeolli to share, both of which tasted like they lacked alcohol. The Bingsoo also melted relatively fast, after receiving it for a couple of minutes, the Bingsoo had melted into a drink. One plus to the Bingsoos was the mochi bits inside of it, which were fun to eat. On top of everything, service was also incredibly slow. The restaurant was pretty empty since it was a Thursday night, but it took forever for our two Bingsoos to come, and also for our check as well. The table next to us also voiced frustration when it took them a while to receive their check. IIRC, it took ~2-3 reminders to receive the check. Not sure if I'd come back again, since there are definitely other restaurants in the K-Town area that offer better food with better service.
One of the worst NYC restaurant experiences that I have had.
Went there Friday night and waited 20-30 minutes for a table for three. Not a terribly long wait but what made it feel awful was that the staff told us from the jump that the wait would be a "few minutes" and that they were just cleaning a table. They kept telling us this throughout the whole wait. The food was atrocious. The army stew was just like two instant ramen packs with some cut up sausage. No clue why anyone would willingly pay $35 for that. Also got the bulgogi which was fine and unmemorable but overpriced at $27 at a stingy portion size. +1 star but probably being a good place to drink, although my party did not drink

LOCATION: E 32nd St (in between 5th & Madison) WHAT WE ORDERED: * Bing Mac ($8) * Lychee Soju Cocktail ($7.25) - really tasty, but on the sweeter side. * Spicy Rice Cake with Stir-Fried Pork ($33.49) * Spicy Squid & Pork Belly ($32.49) - Too salty for my liking. I should've gotten something else because this tasted like the rice cake dish. The food had huge portions. It was way more than enough for two people. As NYC tourists, we didn't even get to eat our leftovers because we wanted to try other food. The price was on the higher end. My favorite part was the extra steamed egg on the house! Our server noticed we devoured it super quickly, so they gave us another hahaha. Service was quick and attentive. Super cozy and intimate Korean pub.

Unfortunately was not able to get any photos of the night, but Bangia competed well against the Pochas from LA Ktown. Their lychee and strawberry soju cocktails were delicious!!!! Service was extremely fast and friendly. The budaejiggae was SO comforting and the perfect amount of saltiness to complement the alcohol. Really fun and cozy interior. Super fun place!!

7.5/10 - Spicy Rice Cakes with Pork 7/10 - chapaguri 8.5/10 - lychee soju cocktail Fun and casual korean pub to hangout with friends! Service was pretty quick, but a bit hard to communicate since it was fairly loud in the restaurant. The food was definitely good, but not the best for the price in my opinion. Definitely be aware that the portions are large!
Whenever i'm in k-town I always find myself back here
Whenever i'm in k-town I always find myself back here because it's just the best spot for friend hangouts. Especially for their $3.00 shot Thursdays, which is a crazy steal in NYC. Even if it's on a day that they don't offer their special prices for drinks, which happens to be satureday, I still always get their lychee soju carafe. As a girlie who doesn't like the taste of alcohol at all, they add enough lychee juice to make the soju tasty. Be warned that the items I got are all on the spicier side except for the fried pork belly so if you have a lower spice tolerance, I would suggest opting for their other menu items that always hit the spot as well. Overall, I love Bangia, and you'll definitely find me coming back over and over again.

Solid Korean pub food! Came here on a Saturday night and waited about 20-30 minutes for a table for four. They serve seaweed soup and steamed egg complimentary and both were really good. We got the grilled pork belly, army stew, and seafood pancake. The only thing is that the seafood pancake could have been crispier. Portions are pretty big and I would definitely come back.
Big ole Korean comfort food.
Pricy but very big portions. Not much else to speak on. Can get busy so put your name down.
RATING: 6/10 DIdn't love the food here.
As someone who grew up eating a lot of Korean food, especially from Queens I find that often times Korean food in the city is priced much higher for something that doesn't hit the mark as well. I get it, it's the city, so a different price range is expected to some extent. SEAFOOD PANCAKE - love seafood pancake, but this was a bit dry, not too chewy, and didn't have that robust fresh seafood flavor you look for. SPICY SEAFOOD TTEOKBEOKKI - the rice cake texture was on point, but the sauce wasn't as flavorful as I would have liked and the seafood didn't feel -super- fresh tasting unfortunately . CHAPAGGURI W PORK BELLY - the pork belly was cut into bits and quite crispy, was hoping for more fatty pieces. Chappaguri is instant noodle which is expected so this was just fine. STRAWBERRY MAKGEOLI - tasted like a strawberry smoothie, which was yummy, not too boozy at all, and a bit sweet. FINAL CATEGORY: OK (terrible ./ bad / OK / good. / great / excellent)

Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

When it says working on bid, it means there are people looking to fill it.
