Pretty pretty good Indian, but not your standard Indian
Pretty pretty good Indian, but not your standard Indian faire. We had delicious pork belly and even more delicious lamb shank. Our waiter was outstanding. Very nice atmosphere.
Be the first to Replytoo pricey and there was nothing that stood out.
The ambiance and music were good and that's about it. As someone more than willing to spend more money for a great meal, I can still not justify spending that much for that meal.

Went here for the first time and it was so nice, I did their prefixed menu so got to try a little bit of everything. The portion sizes are really quite filling and there is so much flavor mixed together it's definitely worth the money. I also loved how the drink menu was all based on Bollywood movie titles! Service was great the whole night and the lighting and furniture inside really elevated the space.
Be the first to ReplyJust had a team dinner here last night, and we all
Just had a team dinner here last night, and we all thoroughly enjoyed our food. We ordered a bunch of stuff, some were better than the others. Here is a list of vegetarian things we ordered: - Potato Tikki Chaat: this is delicious. We ordered 2-3 of these, as even the non-vegetarians loved it. The potato tikki is in the center and it's surrounded by fried pakoras and chutneys. The whole thing is delicious. - Dahi Puri: this is yummy! The yoghurt was a bit too thick for me, but it tasted amazing. - Avocado and Green Pea Chaat: this was a unique dish and really yummy. I liked the taste of the green chickpeas, flavored well with the chutneys. - Celeriac & Sunchoke Galouti Kebab: I wasn't a fan of this at all. It was bland and tasted like fake meat. - Cauliflower Kohliwada: this was a bit on the spicy side, but quite nice. Not as good as the potato tikki though. - Jackfruit Biryani: so good. Loved the flavors and taste. - Malai Paneer Pinwheel: this is so so good. Just order this without thinking. It's amazing. - Spinach Saag: yummy. Tasted very good. We had no space left for dessert. The food was great. The service was great. The ambiance is loud, so not a place for cozy and quiet dining. Highly recommend trying out this place. It's not the traditional Indian food you find. Loved the unique twist to the food.

Went hear for restaurant week and it was quality Indian food. It's definitely marketed as higher scale a bit Americanized Indian food but the flavors were good and service was excellent as well. Would be great for a nicer date night
Be the first to ReplyWe arrived early for happy hour.
Sat at the bar and had perfect mixed drinks and 2 small plates. Moved to a table for the tasting menu. The server was very helpful and knowledgeable about the cuisine and the menu. Service was perfect. Beautiful atmosphere mural and color scheme. Would definitely recommend.
Be the first to ReplyWe went there for Saturday brunch.
We were one of the first people to get there. We noticed a band setting up as we entered. They were kind enough to let us sit at the table even though we had to wait for two of our friends to arrive. The service was really amazing. Our server swagatha was very attentive, interactive and kind. When there was a small confusion in our order, the speed at which the issue was resolved kind of blew me away. The cocktail menu was really fascinating with each drink being named after a classic Indian movie. The drinks were good. I had the paneer lasagna and it tasted so good. The menu was really innovative and creative. We had room for dessert and got the payasam tres leches which was really good as well. There was an Indian band playing classic songs and new songs, singing people happy birthday and getting people to dance. It was a whole vibe. Highly recommend this place and would love to be back.
Be the first to ReplyWe left feeling hungry! Let's start off with the positives
We left feeling hungry! Let's start off with the positives though: FANTASTIC service - our waiter gave us ample recommendations of drinks and plates to share. He even changed the music for us to Indian music after we made a funny comment about the 2010s pop remixes they were playing LOL The ambiance definitely gives off date night, with its dimmed lightning during dinner and louder music. They also have a fun cocktail menu, with names that are of popular Bollywood movies! The food was just okay and portions were small. We were a group of 4 and the waiter kept telling us to order more, indicating that we wouldn't be full with the dishes lol Our food also came out just warm, including our Butter Chicken, which was good, but nothing special. The orders of Naan Bread were yummy, but at a steep price for $8 each. My FAVORITE dish was the Potato Tikki Chat - each element of the dish complemented one another very well! Overall, I'm glad that I tried this trendy restaurant, however it's a place I'd come once. I can't justify the price we paid for the portions and how satiated (or lack thereof) we were afterwards. I'd opt for other Indian restaurants with a more affordable menu that's just as good and will leave you fuller.

...... Over all positive space ..........
Be the first to ReplyNot sure what to give it.
I think it's somewhere between three and four stars. There were several things I liked about Baar Baar. Overall, it is a pretty good restaurant. However, I wasn't too impressed with the food. I appreciate that they took part in NYC Restaurant Week. The service was courteous and prompt. Servers checked in with us regularly to make sure we were having a nice time. The decor and ambiance were modern and beautiful. The avocado and chickpea chat was zesty and tasty. The butter chicken was not bad. I do like Baar Baar for its quick service, elegant decor, and pleasant ambiance.

Went to baar baar for dinner during restaurant week and tried out their restaurant week menu- my top picks were the starters they gave that were pani pooris, the chaat, the lamb keema, and the mango dessert. otherwise, the food was okay. they brought out some dishes very quickly which always concerns me especially at a place with a higher price tag, their tres leches dessert wasn't very good and made me wonder why they ignored a myriad of amazing indian desserts to put this instead (but the mango one was amazing), and I wish they didnt give a piece of bread bun with the lamb keema, it made no sense. a small curated naan plate would have been better. overall it was okay. maybe their full menu is better. the service was not great but not bad. the inside of the restaurant is nice but i despised the bench seating because it was so low that I felt like a kid trying to reach up to my food. they need to fix that.
Be the first to ReplyI loved this Indian fusion place.
The ambiance is a bit more upscale with appropriate lighting for date night. Among the foods I ordered, I liked the Dahi Puri the most. It was a small plate that I ordered as an appetizer. The potato and yogurt mousse had a soft texture, and the Raspberry Chat Masala gave it the perfect kick, with its subtle tart flavor. It came with 6 pieces and I could have had up to 10 if it weren't for the following dishes we ordered. The Three Vegetable Curries we ordered were a perfect combination with the garlic and plain naans. Unfortunately, the rice was not complimentary so we just stuck with the naans and that was sufficient to enjoy with the curries. I would definitely come back for the food and ambiance.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious cocktails.
Speedy service. Highlight was dessert, which was wonderfully sweet and light. A tad pricey, although nothing unusual for the area. Tasteful interior but the lighting was a bit dim and the seats weirdly low.

The ambiance is really great! The Menu is exiting to explore and the service was really good. Now that the positives are outa the way.. the negatives.. The food was mediocre at best. We ordered a bunch of appetizers, and most of it was lacking seasoning and wasn't hot. Felt like it was not done fresh? Even the main course (especially the jackfruit biriyani) was barely warm and not seasoned enough. The drinks were good though.

Great, authentic Indian brunch spot! To start I had herbal tea. For the entree, I had Chicken Tikka Masala with saffron rice and naan. All I can say is amazing! My partner had lamb keema with saffron rice. I had a taste and it was also amazing! Both were very flavorful, tasty, and well-cooked.The portions are not too overwhelming and very filling. Though, the restaurant is pricey. What I enjoyed is the Indian music that was playing. They also had a dance floor, bar, and a host if you want to get up, grab a drink, and dance.I cannot wait to come back for dinner so I can get the nightlife experience!P.S. do not bring your kids! They ask for ID at the door, even for brunch.
Be the first to ReplyGreat spot in the east village.
Tried the mustard bronzini. Amazing. The jackfruit cutlet was awesome too. Great vibes. Superb wait service by Fernanda ! And Danish the bartender rocks. Will return.
Be the first to ReplyVegetarian Review:Came here for Sunday brunch.
Food details are listed below. The music is LOUD (better to come on Saturday for more dance songs) but the ambiance is otherwise good. Service was fast and food came out quick. I knocked off stars because the food was disappointing. Would've given 2.5 stars, but thats not an option. We ordered:Goan Rod Omelette: Flavorless, couldn't taste much in this. The pao that it came with was bland too. Tandoori Cauliflower: Also very disappointing. No tandoori flavor, just tasted like half roasted cauliflower and tomato saucePaneer Naan Pizza: Unique dish, something not found very often in the US. This had good flavor, would order againMalai Kofta: Probably the best dish we ordered (if you like sweet curries). Came with 3 small kofta balls. Would order againGarlic Naan: Better than most Chickpea curry: Basically chana masala. Pretty good

Nice environment but the food for being Indian is lacking flavor and spice. You can tell that the food has twist but not a good one. I had three mixed cocktails and zero buzz. Maybe the alcohol is watered down. I have had better Indian in Jersey . The food and drinks leaves much to be desired. Go taste for yourself enjoy perras!

Every single bite was absolutely delicious! I was so excited to come and try upscale Indian cuisine and it did not disappoint in the slightest. I highly recommend the food here to anyone looking for an elevated Indian menu! The stars I left off were more because of the drinks -- these were overpriced and in my opinion left a lot to be desired. One of my hot tea cocktails was too overly sweet and over seasoned that I couldn't finish it. The service was very fast however and they were also very attentive so that was a plus. And the atmosphere was very cool, but it was a bit cramped and we had difficulty fitting our food and drinks on the smaller table we had. I think with an updated dining set up and better drinks, this would have been a 5 star experience. That said, I would definitely come back for takeout from here because of how delicious it was from app to dessert!

Superb in every way! Amazing food, perfect and friendly service, gorgeous setting! We last ate here with friends one week before NYC was shut down for Covid. We loved it then, and yesterday it was even better. This should really be a Michelin starred restaurant!!

Food service & ambiance are why Baar Baar get 5 stars & if I could I would honestly give them 10 more stars! Ok so you already know if you're a restaurant in the city you must be top tier to not only survive but to have this many amazing reviews, period. Now when it comes to Indian food -- being Indian it's very easy to tell commercialized vs actual authentic Indian food that actually tastes amazing -- well Baar Baar does just that and actually a LOT more. Now keep in mind, NYC restaurants always have a special take on traditional recipes & that's actually what keeps the juices flowing. Baar Baar took authentic traditional Indian dishes & carefully curated exquisite aromas, textures & recipes to execute an incredible fine dining experience. For instance, they made a play on traditional dhai poori which is a fried poori filled with potatoes & yogurt -- well they took the basics but whipped the yogurt in a sweet mixture topping the poori for a single bite of pure perfection. Their butter chicken which you can call a staple at most Indian restaurants had the ratios of pure delicious to perfection down to a science with sprinkles of decadent spices to truly leave your pallet wanting more. In all honesty, I could go on for hours but instead, I'll leave you with my pictures of the stunning meal we just shared with the hopes that Baar Baar will soon too become one of your favorite Indian restaurants !! Thanks to the entire staff & team for such a great experience!!

Having now gone to this place for 2 to 3 times, they are consistent. We have visited them for dinner & spread of options for veggie folks is good. This time, we tried Jackfruit cutlet & avacado/green chickpea bhel for starters. Not typical thing that you should see in the menu, and it was executed well. For the main, we tried Kofta with bread & had a side of saffron rice / raita. Finished off with Casatta for desert (which, again, is a hard to find desert ). If you are in NYC region and like Indian food, this one is a must to try.
