Ave Mario London Reviews from The Last Year
This place was 15 min walk from my hotel.
The atmosphere was wonderful. This made my trip to Londoneven more memorable. The food was delicious. I would go back and eat there again.
This is unbelievably great pizza! I can see why Princess
This is unbelievably great pizza! I can see why Princess Diana brought her boys there regularly. Excellent service, great food and wine - who could ask for a better Italian / Pizza restaurant
We had a fantastic dinner at Da Mario Restaurant.
The atmosphere was great, and the staff were attentive when we ordered our food and drinks. The truffle pasta was delicious, and we also loved the whole fish and steak with sides. Even though we were offered dessert, we were too full to enjoy it. They have special deals at certain times, which we found to be very reasonable. The manager was really friendly, and all in all, we had a wonderful time. I'd definitely go back again.
Delicious Italian!
We had an exceptional meal here - the portions were generous and reasonably priced, and service was so quick. The place also has a really fun vibe but the tables are arranged in a way that still affords some privacy and intimacy, so it doesn't feel nearly as big as it is. The truffle malfadine was divine and the chocolate mousse was delicious.
Delicious Italian food in gorgeous restaurant
I nearly missed the entrance, it's not as prominent as Gloria or Jacuzzi, two of the other Big Mama restaurants that I have been to, but once you've found it, it's just as fabulous. In between The Strand and Covent Garden the location was perfect for a pre theatre dinner. I would recommend booking. At 4.45pm we were one of a handful of tables dining, by 6.15pm when we left all 3 floors were pretty full with a dozenn or so hopeful people outside waiting for tables to become available. I love that the decor of every Big Mama restaurant is different but always eye popping. Staff were delightful, couldn't fault the service. We had the veal ragu and crab linguine, both delicious and the tall white wave that is the lemon meringue is an absolute must although I would recommend for sharing. Music volume is at a good level, enough to enhance the atmosphere but not hinder conversation. Really enjoyed the whole experience.
Oh dear!
Very poor, cremated bruschetta, calamari and pasta that was so salty I was unable to eat it. Staff were friendly and the house red wine good. Overall very disappointing.
Great spot !
Lovely ambience, staff were lovely and food was 10/10. Highly recommend getting all the starters and the banoffee pie!
will not go again
Beautiful place, however service and food was ok, but not justifiable for their optional £30 service charge. My Son was treating the family and just because we could not afford this, I saw the waitress start complaining to her co-worker in Italian and stared at my son throughout! I would not recommend purely based on this. when did we become a country of of making people feel guilty of not paying for a mediocre service! we would have tipped the lovely gentleman who brought is the carbonara and dessert but could not find him when we left. Would not go again as I feel they only want people with deep pockets entering :(
What a shame
Don’t usually write bad reviews and have had very positive experience with Big Mama restaurants in the past - but will not be returning. We were downstairs at the kitchen counter. Firstly asked for theGorgonzola walnut salad - it was early midday - but said no Gorgonzola ( would we have ricotta instead - reluctantly agreed) - what we got was a bland mush , when we complained that it had no walnuts as well as no Gorgonzola - we were told that they would deduct 15% from the bill . The main course crab linguine was okay but very overcooked , the deserts gelato and banoffee pie - were equally uninspiring- I left the gelato after eating the nut topping as it was so bland and tasteless and my daughter said it was the worse banoffee pie that she had ever had . When I asked for the bill , I was asked to scan the barcode ( they then wanted an extra £3 for the privilege of using their payment app !! The only decent thing was the glasses of champagne £160 for awful food and a waiter who couldn’t care less . Completely spoilt my Mother’s Day - what a shame they are obviously a victim of their success -!
Great food bad service
First time visiting and won't be returning. Pros - great food. Everything I had was delicious. Fun, vibrant surroundings and atmosphere. Nice cocktails and wine. Cons - booths for 2 people are quite cramped. Nowhere to put coats or bags. Service was poor. Seated at 7pm and wasn't asked about water or drinks until 7.25pm. My friend had spaghetti and asked for a spoon - 10min wait for this. Was told we had gone over our allocated time at the table even though it took 30mins to order. Took 3 attempts to get the bill right.
Cool place
What a cool little pace. Great service, great atmosphere and gear food! Perfect for lunch/dinner with friends and for couples.
I have been visiting for half a century, since I attended
I have been visiting for half a century, since I attended school around the corner. If you're looking for authenticity and dependable menus, this is the place. Going from strength to strength with a bookable private area downstairs for groups and parties. Can be slow when busy. Get used to it. There is no compromise in here. Love it!
This place rules.
My wife and I were in London and had some tentative plans on a Monday night that we ended up ditching at the last minute. Next order of business, where to eat? We filtered on a few things and landed on Da Mario, as it seemed like a reliable and popular spot. We weren't able to make a reservation, but walk ups were welcome so we took a shot. We got there around 6:45 (18:45 for non-US peeps) and were told it would be about a 30 min wait. We came back at 7:15 and got right to a two person table with no issue. The menu was pretty extensive but we noticed two guys sitting by us that had some sort of carbonara that we didn't see on the menu. They told us that it was an off menu request but assured us we could order the same. We went with that and a pizza and were extremely happy. The food came quick, it came fresh, and it came delicious. The atmosphere was bumpin and lively inside which added to the meal, since Italian restaurants can sometimes be fancier and on the dimmer side. I'd certainly recommend this to anyone in the Kensington or surrounding areas that would like some authentic and tasty Italian!
Fantastic food and great service.
I have been several times and have enjoyed every meal.
Amazing, simply delicious food.
We ordered veg pasta and gnocchi. Service was amazing to cater to our diet preferences and void cross contamination.
Amazing place!!! Food and staff were wonderful.
We loved everything about it! Anytime we are in London we will return.
What an AMAZING experience tonight! Fabiana made us feel
What an AMAZING experience tonight! Fabiana made us feel like we were home!! She was so cheerful and lovely. Best "hidden menu" carbonara we've ever had. It was my birthday and they played "happy birthday" over the speakers and the whole restaurant sang and clapped for me! We're already planning out next meal there
Omg Italian food at its finest.
its a small little authentic restaurant. Host and Server were brilliant food was fantastic. Piping hot and fresh and very good. ill cross the pond again for another visit
Amazing Italian, gray tasting food close to Royal Albert
Amazing Italian, gray tasting food close to Royal Albert Hall. The seasoning on my pasta was perfect.
I very rarely write reviews but I have to take the time for
I very rarely write reviews but I have to take the time for the sake of my fellow asians/non-whites out there. TLDR: racist staff, average to above average food. Just WOW. My friend (also asian) and I walked in without a reservation around 4:45pm on a weekday, and we were seated right away on the main floor by a friendly host. The issues began pretty quickly. There were maybe 2-3 other parties in the restaurant at that time, but the waiter did not even bring us water despite our OBVIOUS attempts to get his attention. He never said hello, welcome, how are you, nothing. But you know what? That's fine. I can deal with that. What was unacceptable was that he and the hall manager (I think?) were EXTREMELY chatty, friendly and attentive with all of the white/caucasian parties in the restaurant while ignoring us. They checked in on us maybe once or twice during the entire dinner without a single word (just paused briefly at our table-side, listened to what we needed, and walked away). Up to this point though, I really tried to keep and open mind and just enjoy the dinner. HOWEVER. As the night went on, the dinner crowd started coming in, and my friend and I noticed that a LARGE proportion of customers were, for some reason, Asian. However, we did note that the host would lead the Asian parties downstairs, while keeping the white/caucasian parties upstairs. And we were sitting close enough to the host station that we could hear it wasn't because those white customers had reservations. In fact, a lot of the asian customers stated they had reservations and still got led downstairs. I obviously can't speak for the service the other asian customers received, but believe me when I say by the time we got up to leave, we were the ONLY non-white customers on the upper floor. No blacks, Indians, middle-easterners, none. We did have a laugh when we went downstairs to use the bathroom and saw the basement situation. My friend whispered to me "it looks like a Chinese restaurant" because they had sat literally ALL the asian customers in the cramped basement area! In summary, definitely racist vibes here. If you are not white and don't care, then it's a beautiful restaurant with pretty good food. If you are white, please come and have a great time. Hangook saram oji mayo!! Geeboon duh ruh woh yo. Gamsahhapnidah.

Is this an appointment for a leather appointment at the Hermes Store? And if so, how do they switch the appointment to my name?
