Armando al Pantheon Roma Reviews from The Last Year
Maybe try for lunch instead of dinner
We dined outside which was very lively. The food was okay- not as delicious as other places in Roma. Service was very helpful.
One of the best
I just don't understand all the recent negative reviews. My husband and I have been to Armando's several times over the years and we have never been served a bad meal. While in Rome a couple of weeks ago, we ate at Armando's three times for lunch. Our lunches over the three days consisted of Eggplant Parmigiana, Cacio e Pepe, Grilled Roman Lamb, Osso Buco (daily special), Mixed Salad, Apple Crumble, Frutti di Bosco w/yogurt cream, along with sommelier-recommended wine and prosecco. Everything was cooked perfectly and delicious. We did not have reservations for our lunches. The first lunch, we arrived at 12:15 p.m. and stood in line in the hopes of getting a table. We got lucky. Before we left, we inquired if there was an opening for the next day and there was. We did this, again, prior to leaving the second day. I do, however, recommend reservations. We, originally, had reservations for dinner, but cancelled them and dined there at lunch instead. I would like to add that when we were in line each day, most of the people in line with us had recently dined there and decided, like us, to dine there, again, because the quality of food and service is superior to a lot of the restaurants in Rome. This is a fine restaurant and my husband and I will continue to dine here on our trips to Rome.

10/10! My husband and I were really excited to try this place. We saw it on food network Bobby Flay episode when researching restaurants before our trip and this place did not disappoint! The flavors are so fresh and delicious and you can tell it's all homemade pastas! We got the Lamb dinner and Amatriciana.
Overrated.
I got the FETTUCCINE ALL'AMATRICIANA and while the noodles were great, the sauce was mediocre and the meat was burnt which really took away from the taste. Disappointing. Wait staff was very inattentive. We had to request water, bread, and olive oil multiple times. Two of our drinks didn't arrive by the time the meals were served and we were offered a shot of Limoncello to make up for the delay. We received one of the drinks, but the 2nd cocktail was never delivered. We left without the drink or the promised Limoncello shot.

We managed to get a table here despite not having a reservation. The restaurant is in a very busy spot and the views of the pantheon are from the side. We sat outside which was lovely despite the heat. The food was delicious, don't expect a huge menu, we were there at lunch and the menu is small. Whilst we were there my son was sick and the staff were so very kind and helpful. Their kindness was amazing and the were very understanding. Top tips, book a table! Save yourself a wait in the burning sun!
We had a great experience while on our honeymoon here.
We came here for our anniversary dinner. I would suggest getting a reservation if you come at night. They fill up very quickly. When we came, there was indoor seating and outdoor seating inside the tent with the heat lamps. Beautiful views of the Pantheon if you are outside on the street. The employees spoke Italian and English. Excellent service, our waiter constantly check on us. I don't remember if there was a coperto, the receipt I posted doesn't show it. They close around 3pm and reopen around 7pm for dinner. Keep that in mind if you are trying to come for a late lunch. The food was amazing. A lot of great appetizers, pasta and meat to choose from. I'm not a big fan of artichoke, but I really enjoyed it crispy with the fresh mozzarella. I had Carbonara pasta. Loved the sauce. The guanciale that's in the pasta is now a favorite of mine. Hard to find good carbonara in the states. Will definitely come back here the next time I visit Rome.
I literally NEVER write negative Yelp reviews.
This will be my first and that says a lot. This is my second time to this restaurant. This time I was with my just ten year old son and mother ( 81 yrs old) who has taken me to Italy my entire life- a special trip I would say as I was celebrating turning 50. I have traveled and eaten in fine restaurants all over the world. We are kind, well traveled and had a reservation as it was the first I made for this trip. I raved about it's food and history. Last summer was sweltering around 100 degrees and more every day. I was extremely hot in this tiny, un air conditioned restaurant. I was using the paper menu to fan myself as not to pass out. The waiter not only grabbed it abruptly from my hand but did not offer an alternative. He then was nasty when he realized I was ordering only a glass of wine, not a bottle. Well my son is ten and my mom is elderly. We then noticed the two tables down the gentleman was given a fan by the restaurant to use when I had no idea they even had one. I have never in my life been treated so poorly. I burst into tears and ran outside to then have my son console me. I then ripped this waiter apart in front of the entire restaurant. It has taken me an entire year to write this. I just saw this resturant on yet another list and it made me nauseous. Do not patronize this place. I don't care how "good it is" it is a tiny, unkempt, hot little hole in the wall with the worst attitude I have ever experienced. No food is great enough for that and trust me it is not that great.
Salty AF. Everywhere else we are was far and above all 3 pasta dishes we chewed and spat out.
This shitehole refuses to accept criticism for it's salty food. Do better - if Roman food was just salt, this place good. Mal.
Not worth going.
So after reading all of the reviews we decided to try this restaurant. Very disappointed, veal was so tough and full of fat you couldn’t even cut it. Would definitely not recommend. So many other options.
Must have been an off night!
Our first meal in Italy! After watching so many videos and travel vlogs, this was our most anticipated and disappointing meal in our 15 days in Italy. I couldn’t wait to try the true Italian carbonara. It tasted like they dumped the whole salt shaker in my pasta. I almost didn’t order carbonara again the rest of our trip, but I’m glad I did. The oxtail was too tough to eat. I couldn’t even slice it off of the bone. The bread in a bag was stale. Every meal we had the next 14 days in Italy was amazing. We actually had a reservation for our 40th anniversary dinner and canceled it the next day. Must’ve been an off night.
Best of the best
Exceptional food and impeccable style in a small, quiet and friendly restaurant. Armando Al Pantheon Roma was everything and more than we hoped for. We so appreciated the opportunity to dine there and the helpful advice from the wait staff in selecting an excellent wine. Delicious traditional food and quality ingredients but with a simple modern style. Definitely worth the reservation and anticipation.
Great Dinner in Iconic Roman Eatery
The due diligence necessary to secure a reservation at this Roma Icon was well worth the effort. Enjoyed a wonderful Rigatoni Amatriciana and a Veal Saltimbocca that were simply perfect.
Loved the food , the price is good , fast service but
Loved the food , the price is good , fast service but waitstaff I had was not friendly.
Overrated- we expected a lot better.
Pasta was dried out and meat was tough. We had better food at other off the beaten path restaurants and for much cheaper. Didn't live up to the Tucci hype.
Simple space, minimal ambience.
Salad was decent, pasta disappointing. Unfortunately, think I fell for the hype. I would not recommend going out of your way to make a reservation.
Yes! That's the spot you want to visit after long walks in
Yes! That's the spot you want to visit after long walks in Rome. Don't mind bad reviews! Despite, reservation issues you still can be accommodated as a walk-in. People just don't want to seat outside in a nice outdoor sidewalk tables ( construction is covered from two sides so don't worry about rain). Food was amazing! I had veal and it was amazing and gf had carbonara and it was bumbastik ( x million amazing). Don't forget to ask for espresso m, their cups a so cute!
Don't believe the hype.
I am not sure if it has changed owners since it was featured in several tv shows in the US, but our experience was extremely disappointing. The pasta was just ok and the appetizer which was mozzarella and Roman artichoke was terrible, the mozzarella tasted like a wet washcloth, service was very slow (not with just the food but like a 15 minute wait just to order wine). Just overall a bad experience which was surprising because every other place we have had recommended in Rome has been wonderful.
Wonderful dinner in Rome!
We loved our dinner and just had a wonderful time on our last night in Rome. We had to book 30 days in advance, and now we know why! The food and the charming ambiance are magical! The wine selection is lovely!

They were very accommodating and sat us without a reservation. The lamb, chicory and pasta were amazing. Very knowledgeable about their extensive wine list. Great spot in a very touristy area
Disappointed after looking forward to eating here
Sadly, this was a big disappointment. A very hard reservation to get, our hotel got us in for dinner booking it as soon as they reopened from the holiday break. It was always a busy place, being 60 years old, but more so since Stanley Tucci featured it in his Searching for Italy Rome episode. This was the only restaurant where the waiters made me feel like they were doing me a favor serving us. My wife and I both had the Americana. I should have ordered the Cacio Pepe, but since I had eaten it elsewhere the night before, I wanted a switch. It was not a good choice for my taste, but my wife thought it was better the night before at another well known restaurant. I had no taste reference so I would not ding them for my opinion.
Delicious lunch next to Pantheon
We had a most enjoyable lunch at this restaurant which is located just a stone's throw away from the Pantheon. To start off with, we had the mouth-watering Roman style artichoke with buffalo mozzarella. There is just something about the way Roman's prepare artichokes, you will not find better anywhere else. This was followed with classic pasta dishes of spaghetti cacio e pepe (peccorino cheese and black pepper) and rigatoni all'amatriciana (tomato sauce, peccorino cheese, pork cheeks and black pepper). Add a glass of wine and you have the great lunch.
Amazing! Must try!
Absolutely excellent produce treated with love and care by the chefs - entree was lamb liver etc followed by roman grilled lamb - stunning - paired with chicory tips side - world class! The best meal in Roma! Highly recommended!
Definitely make a reservation for this restaurant! We did
Definitely make a reservation for this restaurant! We did not but we got pretty lucky - we lined up minutes after they opened for the night and were able to get a reservation for a couple hours later. We were the last couple to get a table for the night. As a vegetarian that also has an egg allergy, I was worried I wouldn't have any options here. I was wrong! Unfortunately I only had one option since most of the pastas had meat in the sauce. I ordered the black truffle pasta and it was out of this world! The pasta was super delicious and the portion sizes were satisfying. The pasta was a little too al dente for me but otherwise very flavorful and truffle filled! My husband ordered the rigatoni and the cod fish and loved both! I also ordered the chicory and it was SO delicious!
We went here for our first dinner of our first trip to Rome
We went here for our first dinner of our first trip to Rome back in June 2023. We still talk about the Veal dish to this day! The restaurant is small and cozy. I worried about it being touristy since it's steps away from the Pantheon but everyone seated around us was Italian. A very good sign. We started with the bruschetta which had buffalo mozzarella. That sparked our obsession with Buffalo Mozzarella and ruined all other Mozzarella for us. I had the Carbonara which was excellent. It'd say it was one of the best we had in Rome. My husband ordered a Veal dish that, if I remember correctly, was a special. It was probably one of the most delicious dishes we've ever had. I've scoured the internet trying to figure out what that dish was so I could attempt to make it at home. No luck. Armando's is a must try when you're in Rome! Don't forget to make a reservation ahead of time.
Wow! Carbonara lived up to Tucci/Netflix hype.
Service was amazing! Wine guy amazing! We booked a reservation and I made a mistake on the day. They took care of us anyway and were super nice. Italians in general I think based on our trip, can take or leave us Americans but these guys were super nice and the food was incredible.
This was our first time dining at Armando al Pantheon.
A small family-owned restaurant, it has been run by the Gargioli family since 1961 and serves authentic homemade Roman classics. The past dishes and braised veal shanks were to die for. Reservations should be made 30 days out to ensure you can grab one of the few tables. The views of the Pantheon won't dissapoint. We will be back - your friends at Jetsetz.com.
Must reserve exactly a month in advance.
Good service. Historic restaurant. Good cocktails. For food, we liked Enoteca Capranica (nearby) better.
We made reservations 30 days in advance.
Service was very good. Food was fresh and simple. We got veal dish and pasta. It was good. Nice ambiance and perfect location
This place totally blew me away.
.. Everything was a wow.. I had never had Mozzarella de Buffalo before... it was amazing... slightly tangy... very moist.. the pastas were done perfectly. It is tough to get a reservation, but it is worth it.. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Rome

Thank you for the question, if a seller is working on answering your bid, you cannot cancel it until their time is up and the bid is released back to you. The full amount of funds then go back into your AT account. Typically a seller has 48-72 hours to complete the bid.
