OK Anyone who knows me, understands that I am not a fan of the "ORIGINAL RUNWAY' for a variety of reasons. With a multi-million-dollar upgrade in the books, a complete remodel and concept and multitudes of friends and families telling me to give it a try we set out with an 8:30PM reservation in hand for a birthday celebration. Valet parking is still the norm and as you walk in you realize this place is not the same "Runway". The outside patio is now enclosed off to the left of the entrance as you walk in. The Bar has been moved to the dead center to off to the left and upgraded to style. The main dining room is adorned with outside comfortable booth seating while round tables take up the center. A stage is set up for entertainment as well. & there is a private dining room in the back which must be the Dan Marino room as it is adorned in his memorabilia. (more on this later)I check in and we are a bit early and it is not as busy as I expected which could be attributed to Spring break here for Florida students, but after a drink at the bar we are seated timely which was one of my biggest pet peeves of the old setup waiting an hour or more even with a reservation which was not the case last evening. The Menu has changed slightly, gone are the complimentary mussels with each entre. John, our waiter tonight was absolutely SPOT ON with everything. After going over the specials of the night as well as menu items that are most popular settle in order some more drinks and wine and we are off and running. I will note menu prices are not out of line in today's crazy world and though many bottles of wine were ridiculously overpriced, there are some good values there as well. Fresh hot bread and homemade focaccia were presented, and it was excellent. We start with a Tableside Caesar salad which simply isn't done any more. Options of Anchovies are given, and fresh croutons surround this really top shelf presentation $16.00Anthony's chopped antipasto platter was a chopped-up version of their old platter with lettuce and vegetables in a homemade vinaigrette of some sort. Also, TOP SHELF $16.00The special appetizer of the night was JUMBO shrimp at $15.00 per piece supposed to be in a garlic white wine lemon sauce but it really was a grilled shrimp done quickly and some sauce was dropped on top. Really very disappointing. Of all the things tonight, this was my least favorite. Entrees: A half-baked chicken on the bone with sauteed mushrooms, peppers, onions and potatoes was OK as I found the chicken dry while the accompaniments were excellent. A linguine with white clam sauce was plentiful, with a huge number of clams with substantial broth. I was told it was very good. A house special Chicken Rosa was a rolled and stuffed pillow of chicken with spinach, prosciutto and mozzarella in a brown mushroom sauce. The chicken was tender as butter but a little dry. Entirely too much spinach and nowhere near enough sauce to compliment the dish. The best thing I tried was the Spicy Rigatoni in vodka sauce. OUTSTANDING in all aspects, and I'm picky on this dish. The homemade Ricotta cheesecake was light fluffy and fantastic reminding me of my long-departed grandmothers, while the GIANT piece of layered chocolate cake was sinful. No coffee tonight. The Lounge band was fabulous as they started their 1st set at 8:30Pm with dinner Sinatra type music. Their second set just after 10PM went up tempo to rock, and everything in between. They were great and really give the place a tremendous vibe. Anthony the owner stopped by to say hello and check on things as well as his GM and anyone else of importance, as they seem to want feedback on everything which is impressive and appreciated. Oh, back to the Marino room, I look over and there he is LOL Dan the man himself. He was kind enough to stop at the table as he walked by and even took a photo with the birthday girl and our group a real CLASS ACT! So let me sum it up as I've gone on long enough. VIBE - DÉCOR - Music and all that encompasses a 10 Plus!Service - Management and all that entails also a 10 Plus.Food mind you I am as picky and difficult to impress as they come so I still give the overall food a 7. Yes, it is loud, you definitely want to eat in the dining room not the patio to experience the vibe, but in this day and age of highly overpriced boring places for dinner this separates itself from the rest and will go a long way down here! Bravo guys 4.5 stars.
