I travel for work and this week took me to Pasadena.
I was excited to try a few restaurants and after Agnes on night one, I decided the menu was too good not to come back on night two. The thoughtful recommendations, ambiance, hospitality that resembled my midwest/southern roots, presentation and downright perfection in every dish, Agnes, well done! Bravo! And thanks to the bar staff
Be the first to ReplyI could give 6 stars to this place if that was possible.
Excellent service. Awesome drinks. THE BEST food!! As a vegetarian person I really appreciate when high end fancy restaurants provide enough options for peopleWho want to enjoy Micheline style food but don't eat meat. Even my 16 year old enjoyed food options at Agnes.

Bartender had great advice and was attentive but not pushy. Loved the tinned fish, mousse cornbread, and Prosecco cocktail. Can't wait to return.

They say that the third time is a charm but I am not sure there will be a next time. The first time we visited- drinks and apps were delicious! But this time around we went to Agnes on a Thursday evening at 7pm, had to wait 20 min for our reservation. Ok. We ordered the half and half board- it was good, but small. The pasta with duck had good flavor but it was tiny and cold. The roast chicken was under seasoned and cold. The most appealing dish was the steak, seasoned and warm. Should warm be a factor in the measure of our favorite dish? No.Maybe it's time to consider heating those plates. I'm ok with small bites but they better be excellent for the price. Is brunch better? Will we give it a try? Not sure.

The restaurant was not even full no people where outside waiting. So rude we were asked to leave?!?! worst part was i believe she was the manager stood in front of the table waiting for us to leave. The MD friend recommend this place . i will never go back there.
Be the first to ReplyAn absolute joy.
This was our first time to Anges and we were very dedicated to breakfast so we tried a number of their breakfast / brunch items: sticky toffee pancakes, pimento omelet, the braised bacon benny, grits, veggie quiche (and if that wasn't enough, finished with the banana pudding). To put it plainly, the sticky toffee pancakes were probably top three pancakes I've ever had in my life. They're so unique, truly a rif on a sticky toffee pudding, but in a ooey, gooey breakfast format. Definitely worth a try. I was pleasantly surprised with how creamy and airy the veggie quiche was - not your average quiche for sure. The braised bacon benny was just fun, really good biscuit, delicious hollandaise, perfectly poached egg, you can't go wrong. Truly, not a bad dish on the table! Service was outstanding, everyone was incredibly friendly and accommodating. We can't wait to come back to taste the rest of the menu!

Agnes is a very visually-appealing restaurant! Friendly servers and bartenders, great cocktails, great wine. Also, lots of goodies to purchase to take home. I love the aesthetic and how it has a small store right in the front of the restaurant. We had ordered a few dishes, including the meat & cheese board which we were very excited about considering... it is a cheesery? Unfortunately, it was very underwhelming for the cost. There was little cheese - a small dollop of soft cheese and a tiny sliver of another cheese. There were 5-6 pieces of salami and some sort of pate that we were not thrilled about. There were some dried fruits, grapes and crackers with mustard and jam but we were expecting a lot more cheese. I would not recommend their cheese boards. After looking at other photos of the meat and cheese boards, looks like they ran out and just gave us the leftovers. Very disappointing to see that.Their pastas were very tasty - our server recommended the red radiator and it was our favorite dish. We also tried the greens salad, steak, cocoa taco and pineapple upside cake dessert. The pineapple cake was awesome, definitely hit all the right spots and I highly recommend it if you're looking for a treat after dinner. Overall, I wasn't very impressed but the service was great and it was a very nice place to enjoy. But to call it a cheesery is a bit of a stretch considering we were hoping the one item that they had the chance to show off their excellence was underwhelming and sad.
Be the first to ReplyHad a lovely Sunday brunch out on their patio seating area.
The food was delicious and the service was superb; very attentive "all hands on deck" team and they were very kind to our pup. Thank you :)
Be the first to ReplyWe had such a beautiful lunch on Saturday.
We started with tater tots. We shared the salmon Ceasor salad which was perfectly prepared. We also had the Cuban sandwich and the quiche. Each dish was delicious. We ended our meal with the sweet, buttery pancakes. This beautiful restaurant knows how to prepare great food and also offers great wine and cocktails. Cheers!!!

This restaurant needs to learn from local restaurants in Pasadena like Houstons, The Raymond and Flemings on how managers and hostesses should treat their customers.Don't take reservations and secure with a credit card if you're going to make us wait more than 20 mins and when asked ,have no idea how much longer to get seated.Hostesses did not even apologize for the wait and manager had an attitude. If you can't level up, then please leave Pasadena.

I was hesitant to try this place, but what a pleasant surprise. The food was very good. Although I'm not a fan of cheese, I enjoyed the Pimento Cheese Omelet. It came with a generous portion of tomato salad. Friend ordered the Tuna Sandwich which she liked. The Banana Pudding, big enough to share as our Server said, was delicious too.It was a birthday celebration, so we got a note card signed by the team as well as a cookie. That was really nice. Server was attentive, friendly & helpful. We stayed for over 2 hours, & nobody rushed us. Delicious food with great service, what's not to like? Highly recommended!
Be the first to ReplyI don't know y'all.
We've been coming here since they first opened their doors and slowly but surely, each return visit has been worse than the one before. The wine and cheese are wonderfully reliable, but everything else (brunchy items, desserts, snackadoodles) feel so entirely lackluster. Not to mention I am consistently shocked at how poor the service is-- though, perhaps another reliable aspect of Agnes these days.

Underwhelmed by the brunch food but the ambience and cocktails were great. So torn between 3 and 4 stars. I would say 3.5 because it wasn't horrible... I would give it a second chance and go back to try dinner or buy something at their little shop as a gift.

We came to Agnes for the first time on 08/11/2022 with a 5:30PM reservation for 3 people and were seated promptly upon our reservation time. (One guest in our party has been here before)The overall experience was just outstanding. We had a great table right by the open kitchen, and really enjoyed seeing everything being prepared. The decor of this establishment is open and comfortable. They have a large rear seating area; however, it was hot today, so we opted to be inside. We shared a variety of plates this evening. First, I will comment on the cocktails. I had the B-A-N-A-N-A-S and the Rhinestone Cowboy. Both were excellent; however, the Rhinestone Cowboy was my favorite. As far as food, we shared the following plates:Sourdough BreadTater TotsCheese BoardSeared ScallopsCheddarwurstBlistered Green BeansChocoTacoBanana PuddingI would sit here and rate each one and tell you about all the great sauces and accompaniments; however, they were all rated 10 out of 10. Seriously, it was just all delicious; however, THAT BANANA PUDDING. OMG!
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best meals I've had in the last couple years.
Every single item was excellent -- seriously, not one dude. The pasta was superlative. The chicken liver eclair was fun. If you're reading this you need to come here for dinner. Stop thinking about it, don't run it by your partner or your friend, just get it on the books. As for ambiance, their back patio is gorgeous and peaceful, a welcome reprieve from the chaotic parking lot dining many places offer for outdoor seating. The inside is also very spacious and has an open kitchen, which I like. Very excited to return.
Be the first to ReplyTried this spot with some girl friends and I of course
Tried this spot with some girl friends and I of course looked at Yelp ahead of time and decided on several dishes looked best to me- but unfortunately NONE of them were still being served! I guess it's a pro and a con that they have an ever rotating menu- pro if you go often and enjoy variety, but con if you are looking for a specific dish because they may rotate it out. Anyway, they make an incredible gin and tonic. As someone who typically orders gin drinks and didn't expect the g&t to be anything particularly exciting, I was impressed- it was good enough for me to order two! Split several small dishes with my girlfriends and ended up paying $88 for my share, so it's not very budget friendly, but everything was delicious and I would definitely return if I wanted a unique and memorable dining experience.
Be the first to ReplyCute restaurant, great food and drinks.
Would highly recommend the pimento cheese omelette. Knocking one star because of the service on the last visit. Our waiter was pretty rude off the bat and hardly came to check on us.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is very quaint.
The food here is good. Each dish is strong i flavor and thing is light. The cheese plate was special as it contained a variety of animal cheese. It was very nice to nibble on while sipping on the beverages. The steak was tender and cooked medium rare as requested. The salad had a good mix of dressing and ingredients that helped start off the meal. Would recommend coming here.
Be the first to ReplyGreat place.
Excellent food especially if you like cheese. I came here for dinner and got a table on the patio. Food was excellent. Reservations mandatory. Half and half board--greatBeet salad--Also good. Generous portion. Hanger steak--small portion but tasty Banana cream pie--surprisingly good. Cocktails--greatVenue--beautiful. Service--excellentParking is plentiful in the public lots in old town Pasadena or street metered parking if you can find it. Contrary to what the trolls here say, Thomas the chef and owner is a super nice guy and even posed for a photo with us when he was super busy in the kitchen. This is a great place for a casual meal with friends with excellent food. I'll be back.

my experience with Agnes it's off-the-wall I love the charcuterie their place is amazing for a great bottle of wine or a glass of wine even just a cheese plate with or even a combination or their food is wonderful I love this having to go there when I was traveling in California this was a place for me to check out I definitely recommend it for anybody who wants a good place to get charcuterie.
Be the first to ReplyGood food and vibe but bad service.
The waitress were talking and playing with her friends at the table behind the whole time. 7/29/2022 9:16pm
Be the first to ReplyCheese lovers, this one's for you.
A much welcome culinary addition to Old Town Pasadena, Agnes specializes in all things cheesy. It's not only a cheese shop, but also a wine shop, bar and restaurant, all under one space! My fiance and I decided to come check out the buzz one evening when we were in the area. We did a walk-in in hopes of trying their dinner menu, but were unable to as they informed us they were booked for the evening. So make reservations ahead of time if you want to dine in, I guess? If the restaurant is full, you can either sit at the bar or at one of the small booths towards the front of the restaurant space. We were able to find bar seating and ordered their cheese board along with a couple of cocktails: Rhubarb Cobbler and The F Word. The cheese board was delightful and consisted of 2 hard cheese, 1 soft cheese, crackers, nuts, grapes, dried apricots and a lovely fig jam. All of the cheese were great but of course, I'm going to have to go with the French Brie cheese as my favorite. The drinks were nice and refreshing and the bar area is beautifully designed. I hope to return soon and try more of their menu, perhaps for brunch next time.

Safe your money!!! If you likeTater Tot for dinner & big fan of Goodwill dinnerware you will find Agnes amazing. Beyond disappointing- I can honestly tell they DON'T know how to cook any food period and May I say Cooking is Not their thing!!! I felt like I got punk.

The four stars are more for their lunch service than for dinner. Our last dinner (early March) was disappointing. The Crispy Tater Tots weren't as crispy and the pork chop was mostly dry. Dinner service that night was rather slow, too. But lunch is more consistently good. Our last visit (lunch, late March) was most enjoyable, all three of us ordered the shrimp cocktail w/endive and were delighted. The tater tots as a starter were up to snuff again! My favorite dessert is the soft serve (vanilla) ice cream with chocolate shell and praline. But of late they seem to get stingier and stingier with the toppings. The patio area is a very pleasant place to have lunch, but my wife complained that it's too dark at dinner. She like to see what she's eating!Service staff are friendly, but of varying levels of competence. We'll be sticking to lunch going forward.
